Eternals Scenario (1)
After Ikaris and I had another one of our arguments, Sersi had me go apologize.
I opened the door where Ikaris was with Druig and Sprit.
Me: Hey, I just wanted to say I'm sorry.
Ikaris smiles.
Me: that you're the fucking worst.
Ikaris stops smiling: You know what. fuck you.
This causes another argument that lasts about five minutes.

I honest to god gotta tell you all, that out of all the Marvel movies I’ve watched (which admittedly isn’t many, but enough to judge), Eternals was the best.
Which still doesn’t mean it’s a favorite movie of mine, but the chemistry between Makkari and Druig? And Thena and Gilgamesh? The fun characters in general except the main couple (no shade to Sirsi, she’s… fine, but I think a bit boring, and Ikaris is just so bland, both as villain and hero)?
There are a lot of little flaws in the plot and a lot I would’ve told differently personally (I also wouldn’t have made this is a movie but a series to flesh out the characters more… I think that was the main problem actually)- BUT with that being said, it was still entertaining, had great ideas and great couples and yeah…
So long story short: Yes. Yes to this post

More like most of them

okay i get the grouchy and sunshine ship is very cute, and to an extent thier ship is like that but i genuinely don’t think druig is as grouchy as people are saying him to be. i’ve seen any ship post by now druig relationship with makkari is he hates everyone but is soft for her. druig is one of the nicest eternals there is from what i seen they both are the kindest. druig argues with his family when he feels as if what they’re doing is wrong and disagrees with thier perspective. but other than that he cares allot for others hes the only one to constantly express how they should be standing in the way of injustice and genocide, he helps those around him. when thena and sirsi need words of encouragement he is very much there for them. he jus doesn’t like when they’re being jackasses which is fair. and makkari isn’t all sunshine’s either i mean she steals constantly she calls people out when she has to and she’s ready to fight for her family when they’re in need. i really hope these two characters don’t get washed down to just to the grouchy hates everything and sunshine innocent couple. it’s overdone and fandoms tend to wash down characters to a single personality trait which is just a disservice to the character

I’ve just finished watching Eternals.
I never thought marvel could create the most melodramatic relationship I’ve ever seen. But, they did. They made a ship that I would honestly pick Damon and Elena, Archie and Veronica, freaking *shivers in horror* Dan and Blair, over. I would willingly pick the deepest depths of the CW’s most cliche pointless toxic ships over Sirsi and Ikarus, I would, and that's unthinkable to me.
Like you put in a wedding and ‘smut’ into a marvel movie for a really uninteresting bland overdramatic ship, but you neglect the utter chemistry and incredibleness that is Druig and Makkari.
I’m going back to my hole of Spideychelle fanfiction, the other ships in Marvel are too much right now.

Why do you think Durig has a long skirt? Everyone else has short skirts, even the other non-fighters like Sprite and Sirsi, and Ajak has a long one but it's more regal for the leader, and Thena has a flowy one so she can fight, but everyone else wears a short skirt. Why do you think that is? It kind of visually makes him the odd one out more than his black armour and stance
ooooooo see I had noticed it but never really gave it much thought. You could definitely say it’s a decision made by the costume department in order to make him seem like the odd one out/stand out I mean like you said the black armour itself kind of gave this ‘black sheep’ idea to him. Which plays in to the idea that the writers and chloe wanted people to not guess who the actual black sheep/traitor amongst the eternals was.
But the long skirt itself I would really just say because I think out of all the eternals he has the least .. desire to fight? Of course he can fight as we can see in the movie. But does he want to, is that what his powers ask of him? I mean he can control minds and hates conflict/wars. Do you get what I’m trying to say?
#of course i could be very wrong but that’s my take!#i haven’t had asks in like 2 years lol send me more!#druig#eternals#marvel#don’t even remember the tag i used to use for these LMFAOOOO

Eternals. : )
Ah yes, the new series that Marvel is going to capitalise off of for the next decade, probably. Unless maybe people grow a brain that computes beyond pretty graphics. Here's my take on a few things.
SPOILER ALERT: Don't read if you haven't watched and plan to watch Marvel's 2021 movie Eternals.
It's so forced...
As a pure MCU viewer (who has never read the comics), there has literally been no foreshadowing about this important tribe of people. Usually, the MCU's films are all so well-connected that it all feels like they are related in some way, so they appear to happen in the same universe–for example, Shang-Chi's Trevor Slattery character has previously appeared in the Iron Man series. This does not happen in Eternals, making it discordant with the MCU. The story explaining why such a supposedly important and insanely powerful group of people have had 0 traces in the universe (that they're not to "interfere" with human conflict) does not make sense. Some members of the Eternals have expressed the desire to interfere with humans in some way (Druig with his mind control, Phastos with his technology), yet they have had nothing to show after they've been freed from their mission by Ajak. Right, so, Druig practically rebelled and went renegade. Why didn't he help humanity against Thanos? Phastos found new love and a human family. Why did HE help humanity against Thanos, given how he has a family to protect? Most things are contradictory and few make sense.
Also, I have no words for Harry Styles popping in and announcing himself as the brother of Thanos. Just– Just– This is far too sudden and tenuous of a link, like they just threw him in there when they've realised they lack easter eggs to the MCU. I'm not going to count this as a legitimate reference. Plus, this character just feels like he's going to be another Starlord (aka comic relief).
Cliches
GOD there are so many I can't remember them all after watching it once. One particularly painful one was the part when Sprite becomes human. JHSADBFAJKSFNSDJK IT'S CRINGEY JUST THINKING ABOUT IT
What a glaringly obvious Pinocchio syndrome!!! It's also super random–there are plenty other ways to solve Spike's "permanently youthful" problem. Couldn't you have just, like, aged her up???? Make her form adult without taking away her immortality?????? Anything to avoid that stupid trope.
Poor acting / Underutilisation of actors / Destruction of character potential
Don't even get me started on this one. Have you SEEN Ikarus? His acting is firstly so dry he feels like a robot. You can also see that he is a blatant copy of DC characters. He can fly and shoots lazer beams out of his eyes -> Superman. He is a Caucasian male hero turned villain -> Peacemaker (though Peacemaker is more of an anti-hero).
As for Angelina Jolie, she does nothing except sit around and be a dementia patient. She's literally there to give this film clout, nothing else. Unless Marvel is trying to give r e p r e s e n t a t i o n for people with Alzheimer's.
Salma Hayek also got fridged... That killed off allllll of Ajak's potential as a competent female leader (whose role Sirsi DEFINITELY did not live up to. She rarely takes charge to organise the group and sits at the back while Phastos works his brain.). This is also a stupid move for Disney given how hard they are pushing to expand to Spanish-speaking audiences (they're practically specialising in Coco-like films nowadays. Have you seen Encanto by the way?). Salma Hayek would have been a good actress to expand to that market.
A lot of ambition has been placed on this film because of the pressure on Marvel to pump out a cast of new characters because they've been killing off the classic generation. Personally, I feel like the only good thing that has come out of this is Lauren Ridloff as Makkari because she is adorable and the first step towards giving representation for impaired persons.

New plant babies!!

This will definitely be added to tomorrow with individual photos but I had to do this now.
I went to a nursery because I was in desperate need of new plant friends and now here they are!
From left to right: Kingo (fennel); Makkari (calandiva); Druig (jasmine); Sprite (basil); Sirsi (sage); Ikaris (rocket); Gilgamesh (lemon verbena); Thena (hyssop); Phastos (chives) and the cactus in the front is, of course, Ajak.
Y'all bet your ass I went out and bought ten plants and named them after the Eternals

Hypothetical Eternals question but why do you think Durig is the only one with a long skirt? Even though there are five fighters (short skirts make sense for movement and even Thena's skirt is loose and flowy) there are also 5 non-fighters, ans Sprite and Sirsi have short skirts just like the others (Ajak also has a long one but she's as non-combat as can be as a healer). Why do you think he has a floor length skirt when even the non-combat Sprite has a shorter one?
Honestly Anon, I didn't even notice that he was the only one that had a long skirt [Besides Ajak and Thena] but it's interesting. I had to google a picture of their costumes to get a good look and while they're similar, they are all different, no two look exactly the same. I also found an article from TheWaltDisneyCompany.com that says "In introducing the 10 Eternals (in addition to Dane), filmmakers wanted them to have a distinct look—both within the larger MCU and within their own ranks." So other than just wanting them all to be different and stand out in their own way, I imagine that Druig's costume could be tied into his power and how he ultimately wanted to live in a world without all of the war and fighting - very reminiscent of Buddhist Monk's who wear long robes and are famously pacifist. According to the article I read the costumers did a lot of research when coming up with the costumes for each character and consulted anthropologists for different cultures, so I feel like that may have been one culture/religion they took inspiration from for his costume to further show how he wanted to live a more non-violent lifestyle. I may be off base but when I read this ask and then saw photo of the full costume "pacifist monk" was the first thing I thought of. Hope my little theory answers your question :)
