The flower chain necklace

Remus saw the little sparkling chain hanging in front of him and he immediately knew this was a bad idea.
"I cannot do it" he shook his head.
"You said it you would!"
"This is a beautiful chain! You should give it to her yourself"
It was a breathtaking necklace. With a beautiful flower chain. It looked expensive. Way out of Remus's budget. And knowing James, it probably had some precious metals somewhere.
Lily's seventeenth birthday was approaching. Remus really liked the girl. She was his best female friend. And he already got her a nice book he thought she might enjoy. Nothing fancy.
Now James, the golden boy, had come and shown Remus what he got for Lily. It was the kind of gift that would take any girl's breath away. It certainly had taken Remus's breath away. But when he commented on how amazing it was, James said: "Glad you like it. Because you're giving this to her for me". Remus had choked on his saliva.
"Again, why don't you give it to her yourself?" Remus asked "It would surely add some points with her. You might have her snogging you by the end of the night"
James laughed as he got a little red.
"If it would be that simple with her, I would definitely do it, Moony" he sighed "But she hates me. And if I give this to her, she won't accept it"
Remus twisted his mouth. Ever since he had met James, he had been head over heels for Lily. And since Remus got close to her, he promised the boy to help him with her.
Remus was the only one who listened to James mumble about Lily or told him things he'd been learning about Lily during the time he spent with her.
"I picked this with my mum over Christmas break..."
"You've got this since Christmas?" How adorable was that?
"Yeah" James rubbed his neck in embarrassment "I didn't know how to give it to her. But her birthday seems like a better occasion to do it..." then he looked at Remus "I mean, for you, her best friend to give it to her"
"James..."
"Please Moony" Oh God, James was pouting "I spent a lot of money on this..."
Of course he did.
"I know she will like it and wear it but not coming from me" James added "But she will, coming from you!"
Remus was noticing James had long eyelashes as he batted them at him.
"She will never believe I have the money to buy something like this" Remus replied.
"You're a smart boy, Moony" James said "Make something up"
"But....I....."
"Pleeeaseee Mooonyyy!!"
As James begged with his hands, Remus thought he and Sirius were too similar in many things.
"I really think you should do it yourself..."
"Moooons!!" James chanted
"You have the best opportunity to win her heart!" Remus used the same tone.
"I just want her to see her happy face when she receives the necklace" James sighed "I just want to see her happy"
Remus smiled. If Lily knew this James, the amazing person he actually was, a true gentleman, Remus was sure she would fall for him. Lily was waiting for her prince charming when he was right there.
God, both of them were so stubborn.
"So, Remus? Are you my mate or not?" James added raising an eyebrow "A Marauder should help his fellow Marauder in anything!"
That made Remus laugh. Ever since he arrived to this school and met the boys, he wanted to belong with them. Be a true Marauder. And even if they treated Remus as such, he knew they had more history. Sometimes he was an intruder. So making James happy with this was tempting.
Remus wanted James to like him. He was so cool. Remus understood why Sirius was obsessed with him.
Remus took a deep breath. James was still pouting and moving his eyelashes that looked bigger behind those glasses. And damn, James was handsome and he had a very convincing face.
"Fine..." Remus said.
But he couldn't continue for James was already attacking him with a tight hug that was leaving him out of breath and several kisses on his forehead and cheek that made Remus blush for some reason.
"Thank you...." Kiss "Thank you...." kiss "Moony!" kiss, kiss "I knew you were a good friend" Wet kiss that made Remus push him away and wipe his cheek "Sirius is right! You are amazing!!"
Remus blushed even more to hear that compliment from Sirius.
Remus giggled happily.
"I still think you should give this to Lily yourself, though..."
James sighed "Blah blah blah... You are my friend, Remus. Not my conscious"
Remus nodded in defeat "Fine"
"And Remus" James put an arm around his neck, pulling him closer "Not a word of this to anyone..." he sounded dead serious when he said it "Not even to Sirius. For as long as it concerns you, you are the one that got this necklace for Lily... Okay?" he even put a finger on his chest "You'll take this to your grave"
Remus was a bit overwhelmed of how secretive and serious this all sounded. He thought he was screwed, wasn't he?
"Yeah ok..."
He received another wet kiss on the cheek and that was the way their pact was sealed.
The day of Lily's birthday party, the necklace box was burning inside his pocket. And James's gaze was burning his back anywhere he went.
Lily was beautiful as always. She was dancing with Luke Gardener, a bloke Lily had told him she potentially fancied. Remus observed them dancing and thought how wrong they fitted and how well she would look with James.
But James was dancing with another random girl Sirius had introduced him.
If Remus was allowed to tell both of them a lot of things he knew, they would surely be together. Remus was a coward. He cared about both of them. But he wasn't that confident or intelligent to make a plan. Plus he believed they had to realize it for themselves. Scheming something would only bring them apart.
Remus sighed as he finished his drink.
"Moony!! Why the long face?"
As James had begged, Remus hadn't told a soul about their pact. He actually forgot until that morning when James gave him the box. But Sirius didn't know. Remus understood why James didn't trust his best friend with that secret. Sirius had been trying nonstop to set James up with random girls. According to Sirius, James was young, handsome, funny and athletic, (true), and he didn't deserve to be pining after the same girl. Even more if Lily was insulting him all the time.
Sirius wasn't a romantic. And having a huge crush on someone like that was a bloody nightmare.
"Aren't you enjoying The Ginger's party?"
"Oh Sirius, you know how much I am the life of parties" Remus answered sarcastically which made Sirius laugh "Just give five more minutes and I'll be on the center of the floor"
"I'll take that as a promise" Sirius winked "Seems like the birthday girl is having fun"
Remus followed Sirius’s gaze to see Gardener's large hands on Lily's waist. She looked red as her hair and kind of embarrassed as she put her arms on his shoulder. She even smiled.
Remus immediately turned to look at James who seemed sad, eyes on Lily and not even on the girl dancing her butt out in front of him.
"Don't worry, Moony" Sirius added, looking at his expression "James will be fine with Crazy-Tongue Danielle"
"Crazy-Tongue?" Remus raised an eyebrow.
"Rumor has it she does wonders" Sirius smirked "Not that I know" he added as Remus frowned unconsciously "I decided to leave her to Prongsie"
"So generous of you" Remus tutted "He's into Lily, though"
"His obsession will go away when he travels in a waters of free pussy"
Remus groaned in disgust "You're so disgusting sometimes, Pads"
Sirius was laughing.
"And it is not just obsession what James feels... Trust me"
He wanted to tell Sirius about the great gesture that his best friend was doing for the girl of his dreams. But unfortunately he couldn't.
"Life is not like those romantic books you adore to read, Moons"
Of course, the boy Remus fancied would never do something like that for him. Maybe for anyone. Remus knew he was capable of loving. He just chose to act like a dick sometimes.
To prove Sirius’s words, another song started playing that made every girl scream. And this song was not romantic. It was about sex, women's bodies and other horrible stuff that made Remus want to puke.
It was upbeat and mostly every girl went crazy with their slut dancing. Remus was about to offer Sirius to go and smoke somewhere, when they saw Alecto Carrow opening her way to the center of the dance floor. All eyes turned to her because she was pretty and a really good dancer. Even Sirius was looking... Even Sirius was looking.
Alecto noticed Sirius and she walked directly towards him and began dancing right in front of him. Remus didn't understand where did she get that confidence.
She even laughed when she tripped and dropped to the floor with a loud gasp.
Sirius bent over her.
"Are you okay, sweetheart?" he asked.
"Better now that my own angel came to my rescue"
Sirius smiled. His cheeks slightly red.
"Oh God! Al, are you okay?"
Now Alecto's friends were all over her, trying to get out of the floor.
"Did she hit her head?"
"Is she breathing?"
"She probably needs CPR"
"Maybe Sirius can do the honors" Alecto answered with a smile. Sirius blushed again.
"She is just bloody drunk" Dorcas snapped with patience "Come on, babe. Let's take you to the dorm"
"Maybe Sirius can be a gentleman and make sure she gets there alright" Alice said with a tiny smile "Looks like she hit her head"
"Don't worry... She is that stupid"
Remus almost laughed to Marlene's comment. He realized that there was a little group of people who were watching the scene. Lily included.
"And no matter what you do, darling, your style is always awful" Alecto replied.
Marlene clenched her teeth when she noticed Dorcas and immediately blushed.
"Come on, Al" Sirius spoke to everyone's surprise "I'll take you to your dorm"
Not only Alecto seemed surprised, but her friends as well, and even Remus. He was used to see Sirius with girls. But that didn't mean he felt as if his heart was being stepped on everytime.
"Oh, such a gentleman" Alecto seemed like she was beaming as Sirius grabbed her hand and dragged her away.
Remus saw Marlene rolling her eyes and he was tempted to do the same.
"Sirius strikes again" Mary commented, making Remus have an unpleasant twist inside his stomach.
As the party resumed to its normality, Remus was feeling worse and worse.
"Moony! Did you do it?"
"Ha?" Remus turned to James trying to blink his pain away.
"Did you give her my present?" he asked "I mean, YOUR present"
Remus took a moment to remember what was James referring to.
"No"
"What happened?"
"Didn't you see how Alecto fell to the floor?"
James raised an eyebrow.
"Sirius took her to her room" It was even more painful to say it.
"Cheeky bastard" James laughed. "She's been into him for ages"
Remus pretended to snort but it sounded like a wounded kitten.
"Where were you anyway?"
"Crazy-tongue Danielle took me to the loo"
Remus wasn't surprised.
"Just a quick snog" James explained as he rubbed his hair in embarrassment.
"Nice" What was Remus supposed to say?
"Anyway, it's almost midnight"
"So?"
"So?" James asked "Lily's official birthday! Go and give her the present!"
Remus was going to protest but James pointed behind him.
"Look she is going for a drink" he exclaimed "Do it when the vulture of Gardener is not around... And make sure I get to see her face"
"Want me to prepare dinner for you as well?" Remus snapped back.
"I already ate" James shrugged not understanding the joke. Then pushed Remus from his shoulders "Just go!! Nooow!"
Remus was practically pushed towards Lily. The rest of the way he made it himself.
Remus sighed. He was really doing this.
Lily, was not drinking alcohol but she was gulping a large glass of water as if she wanted to forget about her problems.
"Hey gorgeous"
Lily almost choked with her drink.
"Remus!!" she smiled widely "God! I am so glad to see you!"
She said it as she side glanced at Luke. It looked as if he wanted to approach but wasn't sure now that Remus was near Lily.
Remus laughed "We saw each other like 40 minutes ago when I told you Happy Birthday"
"Yeah, right" Now Lily was giving a slight smile to Luke.
"Everything alright?"
"Yeah?"
Remus just looked at her.
Lily closed her eyes and shook her head.
"I don't know, Remus" Lily bit her lip "Luke tried to kiss me just now!"
"Oh!"
"It wasn't even in a romantic song or anything. He tried to grab my waist and kissed me right there! I mean I know that he is a boy and everything but it just seems kind of awful to have the first kiss with him like that. I mean we are not even dating. We've bumped into each other a few times and had a good time but now he wants to kiss me? First kisses are supposed to happen in a magical way or at least in a more romantic song.... God! Now I don't know what to do! Thank God Alecto fell then I just ran to drink some water. I'm not sure if I want to kiss him just yet, Remus"
It was a lot for Remus to process. But Remus understood Lily pretty well. She was a romantic through and through. Not like the horny teenagers around. She deserved that magical first kiss.
"I see" he smiled "Do you fancy Luke?"
Lily bit her lower lip "I don't know, I think I do. He is handsome and fit. I saw him without a shirt exercising on P. E. the other day and..."
"Lily!!"
Lily blushed "It was Mary's idea"
Remus laughed.
"Do you think I should just kiss him?"
"No!" Remus exclaimed, then cleared his throat "I mean... No if you don't want to."
Lily twisted her mouth.
"I know our generation is rotten with meaningless drunk snogging at parties" Remus said thinking about Sirius snogging Alecto in her dorm, but decided to shake that thought away "But you are not like that, Lily. You want romance. You want a meaningfull kiss that seems straight out of a novel"
Lily blushed "Yeah I do"
"Maybe get to know Luke a little bit better before snogging him?"
Lily nodded "Right"
"Plus, it is your birthday. You can do whatever you want" Remus shrugged.
Lily let out a little laugh.
"Remus, you are so wise"
Remus felt the excitement of showing her the present now but also the guilt of lying to her. She deserved someone as romantic and detailed as James. Someone who would sweep her off her feet all the time. Especially on her birthday.
"I have a present for you"
Remus had promised though. In the corner of his eye, he saw James taking secret glances at them.
Lily looked surprised "I thought you already gave me that book?"
Remus sighed "This is an extra"
His hand literally shook as he reached the box. He showed it to Lily. She swallowed.
"Happy Birthday, Lily"
Lily grabbed the box between her hands with care. As she opened it, she gasped so loud that several people turned to look.
"Holy Shit!!"
"You don't like it?" Remus asked nervously.
Lily stared at him with disbelieve "Remus! This is beautiful!!"
She was beaming as the chain hanged from her fingers. Her green eyes shone with glow.
But then she shook her head and gave it to Remus.
"I cannot accept it"
"What? Why?"
"Remus, it looks expensive" There it was "How much money did you spend on me? Oh my God!" she covered her mouth "Why would you spend such money on me?"
"I didn't spend much" Remus said quickly "I didn't spend money at all" he added when Lily gave her a concerned look.
"I only spent on the book. This was.... This was... Free..."
Remus's eyes flickered towards James. He wasn't even trying to be subtle. He was pendant on them. He even sent that Danielle girl from before away.
Luckily Lily couldn't see him.
"Just the book was fine" Lily sighed, then she gasped again "What do you mean free??" she put her hands on her hips in a motherly way "Remus Lupin, did you steal this?"
Remus should be offended. But it was obvious by the way he was different from all these posh kids that he had no money. Even Lily who had a scholarship had more money than him.
"What?? No!! I..." He was going to kill James Potter "I didn't..." Quickly Remus think fast... "It was my mother's"
Using his dead mother was low. But nothing else came into his mind.
That surprised Lily even more. She placed the necklace on Remus's hands.
"Remus, I cannot accept this"
She didn't sound angry anymore. Just sad.
"Lily, please accept it" Remus was losing patience.
"If it is from your mum, you shouldn't be giving it to me. It is something special to give to some girlfriend, even your future wife. Your bloody daughter!!"
Remus took a deep breath "It's fine." he cracked a laugh "I don't think I would ever get married" Worse having children.
Lily was still shaking her head.
Remus took a glance at James. He seemed nervous.
"Lily, look..." Remus took his hands on his, the necklace hanging from them.
He looked into the girl's eyes "You are not just my friend... You are a very special person to me. I never got along with girls until I met you. They kind of scared me" he snorted "But then I met you and with you it was easy. I know I've known you for just months but I think we have a special connection. You are amazing and wonderful. I think we are both practically the same. We were meant to know each other and be friends. In every universe. And I really wanted to show you how much you mean to me.... " he swallowed "By giving you this small present"
It was true everything Remus said. It was what crossed his mind when he thought about Lily. Remus kind of sucked at making friends. But with Lily it felt like it had been meant to be. Remus really liked her. He had gotten attached to her in a short time.
"Plus, I am sure my mum would've loved you. And she would have been pleased with you having her necklace"
Lily had tears in her eyes. Remus was a bit overwhelmed as well. He was such a liar.
"I want to give this to you" Remus added "Please accept it"
Lily wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him in for a hug. She was a hugger like James.
"I really like you, Remus" Lily said "You are a very special friend to me"
When they broke apart, Lily had a weird expression on her face. She was looking at Remus with longing and hope. She even bit her lip and played with her hair in the way girls used to do when they flirted. Remus tried to ignore it.
"Want me to put it on for you?"
Lily blinked in reaction "Oh, yeah"
She gave Remus the necklace. He could see a beautiful smile on her face as she turned and raised her hair. Remus smelled her sweet perfume as he put it on.
James was smiling at him. He had his thumps up.
When Remus was done, Lily turned and gave Remus another hug.
"I love it, Remus" she said "I'll never take it off"
James would be pleased.
"Great" Remus pushed her away.
She looked as if she was enchanted. He didn't take her eyes away from Remus.
"I am going to pee" he said.
"Okay"
Lily watched him walk away until her eyes set on her new necklace with a satisfactory smile.
Remus got out of there as soon as he could. He walked towards a smiley James.
"Did you see her face, Moony?" he asked "She loved it!"
"Great! Don't blame me when she falls in love with me instead"
As James laughed, Remus thought about the nightmare that it would be.
"No offense, mate. But you are like her brother"
Remus made a face.
"I can go back and tell her the truth" Remus smiled "She doesn't see you as her brother"
James's smile disappeared.
"Thank you very much, Moony" James said as he kissed his cheek "Next meal at Hogsmeade is on me. You are a golden friend, Remus"
As James walked away, happily, Remus smiled because it had been satisfying to help James out. Although he would have done things differently.
Maybe this could drag the two boys closer. And Remus didn't think there was something more cool than that.
#Remus was the biggest Jily shipper#Sirius wasn't their fan at first because he was jealous#marauders#maraudersera#muggleau#remus lupin#james potter#lily evans#jily#sirius black#wolfstar#Also my headcanon was that Lily thought Remus had a crush on her after this and kind of confused her feelings for him

Ah, winter break. It was something everyone at Hogwarts looked forward to. Well, almost everyone. There were those who didn't get to go home to their families and some who wished they didn't have to go home to their families.
One of those people was a friend of yours, Sirius Black. He often avoided talking about his home life, but you knew it wasn't good. And you knew going home for the holidays could be hard for him. So, when it was the day before winter break and the two of you had a moment alone, you asked if there was anything you could do to make the break easier for him.
"I need you to be my girlfriend."
Seven words you'd never expected to hear from your best friend. Your best friend who was in a gay relationship, nonetheless.
"What?" You asked in bewilderment. "No!"
"Wait, wait, wait. It's not what you think." Sirius put his hands up as if to show his innocence. "I don't really want you to be my girlfriend. I just need you to pretend. Please."
"Why?!"
"Because," he explained. "My parents have started to get... Suspicious about my total lack of any girlfriend. And I may have told them that I was dating you.... Y'know, to throw them off my track..."
You stared at him. "You told your parents we were dating?!" You repeated, clearly upset at him.
"I know, I know. It was a shitty thing to do, and I'm sorry." He says. "But, if I didn't give them some sort of excuse, they might've found out about me and Remus!"
You were still upset, but you could understand why he did what he did. "So..." You crossed your arms. "You said I need to pretend to date you. What is it exactly that you need me to do?"
"Over the break, I need you to come over for a couple days. My parents will meet you, get to know you, blah, blah, blah. And then, you'll never have to speak with them again. If they ask about you after that, I'll say we broke up."
You really weren't a fan of having to fake date your best friend. You also weren't a fan of having to meet his parents who you'd only heard negative things about. But... You knew how happy he was with Remus and you would hate for his parents to find out about the two. You sighed. "You're lucky we're friends."
"Is that an agreement?" He asked, a grateful smile on his face.
"Yes. But, you'll be forever in debt to me."
"Fine by me."
The next day, while on the train to 9 3/4, you and Sirius mostly just planned for you having to meet his parents. You decided that you'd arrive the day after Christmas, stay for news years eve, and leave new Year's Day.
A lot of the train ride was spent establishing some basic facts about your "relationship". How you'd met, your first date, what your wedding would be like (which was strange, but Sirius assured you that his parents would ask about marriage), and some other details.
Soon enough, the train ride was over. Your winter break was fine. You enjoyed getting to see your family, but you were quite stressed about seeing Sirius' family. Part of you wanted to call the whole thing off, but you knew that was out of the question. You had to do this. For Sirius.
The morning of December 26th was a cold one. You wished you'd had more protection against the cold, but the formal attire you were wearing could only do so much. Sirius had told you to bring nice, formal clothing for the few days you'd be there. You were a bit worried you'd still be underdressed, though.
You took a deep breath and knocked on the door to the literal mansion that Sirius lived in.
After a few moments, the door opened. Regulus black stood on the other side.
Oh.
"Hi." You greeted, trying to politely smile at him. He didn't return the gesture. He did the opposite he gave you a look of... Annoyance?
"You're here for Sirius."
You couldn't tell if it was a question or a statement, so you just gave a nod.
He stepped aside to let you in, his eyes trailing over your attire, making you feel nervous. "He's in the living room with mother and father." Regulus said before walking off.
What a strange interaction. You and Regulus weren't close, by any means. But, you never thought he disliked you. You thought the opposite was true. Whenever the two of you did interact, he was always quite nice.
You tried to shrug off the interaction, but you just couldn't. Even when you were next to Sirius, meeting his parents for the first time, the way he'd acted toward you was on your mind.
The worst part of your day was dinner. You were worried about everything. How you were eating, how you were sitting, the way everyone was looking at you, the way Regulus was looking at you.
"Y/n," You were broken out of your thoughts by Walburga's authoritative voice. "I want to know how you and Sirius began seeing each other."
You nervously glanced over to Sirius who gave you a forced looking smile. You looked back to Walburga. Gods, she scared you. "Well, it wasn't too long ago." You said, trying your hardest not to break eye contact with her. "It was late September. He told me since we'd known each other for so long, he thought we'd be a good match."
Sirius nodded along. "We went on a couple dates, turns out we really like each other." He said.
You glanced over to Regulus. He was glaring at you. You didn't break eye contact and after a moment something else flashed through his eyes. Something softer. Sadness?
"So," Walburga broke your attention away from Regulus as you looked back to her. "Are you serious about your relationship with my son?"
"Very." You replied.
"Do the two of you plan on marrying?"
You swallowed. "As soon as possible."
You heard silverware clatter as Regulus abruptly stood up. "I need to be excused." He said lowly.
Walburga raised an eyebrow. "You've hardly eaten." She stated. There wasn't any concern in her voice like you'd expect. It was a blatant statement.
"I know." He says. "I'm done."
His mother gave him a disapproving look, but didn't object.
Regulus stormed out of the room. You couldn't help but frown as you watched him leave.
The next few days were a bit uneventful. Most of your time was either spent in the guest bedroom you were staying in, or talking with Sirius. You were still confused by Regulus' attitude toward you. You knew his and Sirius' relationship was a rocky one. But, you didn't think that affected what he thought of you. He'd known you and Sirius were friends, and he still treated you kindly. But, now that the two of you were pretending to date, he had a problem with it? It didn't make any sense!
It was December 31st now. You and Sirius were sitting in his room, eating lunch while sitting on the floor.
"I was thinking-"
"Oh, God."
"Shut up, let me finish." Sirius chuckled, playfully hitting your arm. "I was thinking about going to a party tonight."
You furrowed your brows. "Where?"
"James and his family have a new years party every year. I'm sure they wouldn't mind some extra company."
You thought about it. Honestly, you weren't really in the mood for a party. Plus, if his parents caught you sneaking out, your heart would probably stop. "I think I'll sit this one out." You said after a moment.
"You sure?"
You gave a nod. "Yeah, I'd rather stay in. I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun without me."
"Oh, I will."
You smacked his arm.
The clock read 11:39. You were alone in your guest room sitting in your bed. You had your laptop open in front of you as you watched a broadcasting of one of the many new Year's events that were going on tonight. You were absentmindedly looking at the crowded city streets displayed on your screen when-
"I wouldn't be using that while having the door open." Regulus said. He stood in the doorway, arms crossed, looking from you, to the laptop, and then back to you.
"Why not?" You asked.
"My mother doesn't approve of us using muggle technology." He said. "And I doubt she'd be okay with her son's girlfriend using it."
You sighed. "Right... Girlfriend."
Regulus raised a brow at how you'd said that. "What are you watching, anyway?" He stepped into the room, closing the door behind him.
"A new Year's parade."
"... Could I join you?"
You were surprised at that. After how cold he'd been acting toward you over the past few days, you'd assumed the last thing he'd want to do tonight is spend time with you. But, you weren't against the idea of not being alone when the new Year started.
"Sure." You replied as you moved over on the bed to make room for him to sit.
The two of you watched the parade in silence for a few minutes until Regulus spoke. "How come I had no idea you and Sirius were dating?" He asked.
You glanced over at him. "What do you mean?"
"You said the two of you had been together since late September." He said. "How come nobody knew about it?"
You subconsciously began to fiddle with the fabric of your shirt. "I don't know." You shrugged. "Guess we weren't shouting about it from the rooftops."
Regulus didn't break his gaze away from you. After a pause, he spoke. "I never would've guessed you liked him in that way."
You didn't know how to reply to that, so you just shrugged again.
Regulus was still looking at you, even though your gaze was focused on the screen in front of you.
He paused. "What made you fall for him?" He asked.
You thought it was an odd question. When you turned to look at him, he looked sort of sad. "He..." You trailed off.
Regulus looked at you expectantly. You were trying to come up with something, but your mind was blank.
"You do like him don't you?"
You looked away nervously. You began to wonder whether or not he'd even care that your relationship with Sirius was fake. If he really was upset about you dating Sirius, then wouldn't he like to know that it was all just pretend?
"Y/n." He said your name and you were pulled away from your thoughts.
"He's not actually my boyfriend." You blurted out.
Regulus paused. "What?"
"He asked me to pretend to be his girlfriend. He didn't want Walburga finding out about his actual relationship, so-"
"It's all fake?" He asked.
"All of it."
"You don't like him?"
"Not like that."
You swore you saw a sliver of a smile creep on to his face. "That's... Good."
You tilted your head. "Is it?"
"I mean..." He shrugged. "I just... I guess thinking you'd gotten with my brother was making me upset." He said.
"Why?"
"Because..." He hesitated. "I like you, Y/n."
You felt your heart skip a beat. Fuck, that actually explained a lot. You couldn't believe you hadn't realized sooner. You felt your face heat up. "Seriously?"
"Yeah." He sighed. "I was jealous. That's why I was acting so... Weird. Sorry for being such an asshole to you."
"That's alright." You paused. "Why didn't you tell me sooner? About your feelings, I mean."
He shrugged. "I didn't think you'd feel the same."
Honestly, you'd always found Regulus quite attractive. But, you figured there was no way he'd ever like you back, so you let go of that silly crush a while ago. But, this? This was making all of those feelings wash over you again.
It was 11:59 now. You could hear the commentators of the parade excitedly get ready for the countdown.
"I feel the same." You said, watching as a blush creeped on to his cheeks.
"Really?"
"Really."
His eyes seemed to sparkle at your admission. "I..."
You heard the countdown to the new Year begin.
"Can I kiss you?" Regulus asked softly. You nodded.
"Five!"
He leaned closer.
"Four!"
Your tongue darted out to wet your lips.
"Three!"
His hands came up to cup your cheeks.
"Two!"
He closed his eyes. You closed yours.
"One!"
Your lips met in a soft, romantic kiss. He brushed some hair out of your face and Gods, his hands were soft. You couldn't believe you'd ever managed to stop liking him.
When you pulled away he sighed contently as if that kiss was all he'd been needing his entire life.
You whispered something to him before pulling him in for another kiss.
"Happy new year."

AU Wolfstarbucks - Sirius and Remus have been fucking each other during OotP as a source of comfort to ease their shared grief. Somehow, miraculously, James comes back from the dead but Remus can’t help but be dismayed knowing that he’s only been a stand-in for James.
Cue Remus being a little passive-aggressive, jealous wet noodle. Sirius still tries to initiate but Remus is super annoying and withdraws, convinced it’s only a matter of time before Sirius chooses James. While Sirius confronts Remus one night, James walks in and realizes Sirius and Remus are having an affair.
This interests James. Deeply. And he comes to a few more realizations of his own. And he makes a proposition to the two of them…
Yes I love this!!! I am already a big fan of Sirius and Remus starting to hook up for the first time during OOTP as a way to deal with grief/loneliness/the horrors. And then James comes back! And Remus is like "oh well of COURSE the two of them are going to get together, they've always been obsessed with each other" and pulls away, is passive-aggressive, etc. Sirius doesn't understand why Remus is pulling back from him! James walks in on their confrontation and has to become okay with several things REALLY quickly, lol: both of his best friends are interested in men, they both sleep with men, they have been sleeping with each other.
And after the shock of it wears off, James finds he can't stop thinking about it. He's...way more interested than he should be in his friends' sex life. He definitely starts looking at his friendship with Sirius in a new light, too, because they've always been inseparable. Maybe there was something more to it. Maybe...what they had wasn't a normal friendship and is something else altogether.
Anyway James overcomes a lot of internalized homophobia and discovers he likes men. He especially likes men who are his two best friends. He and Sirius start hooking up and then they bring Remus in as their precious princess who they love to fuck and spoil, the end.

How do you think canon wolfstar would develop and go? I would love to read one of your metas on this!
Hello! Well, I'm writing this, so I don’t want to spoil it! :D But I think there are a few details that are important to consider if we want to write this ship when they were at Hogwarts (I'm only writing about the years '75 to '81). TW: If you're a very dedicated fan of fanon Wolfstar you may not like it!
Canon Sirius and Remus were never very close emotionally to each other. They became close primarily after Azkaban, as two last Marauders who had lost a lot—two friends, their youth, parts of themselves, etc.
No, Sirius didn’t open up about all his secrets to Remus. No, it wasn’t Remus whom Sirius turned to first in tough situations. And it wasn't Remus who Sirius was willing to do absolutely everything for. And it wasn't Remus for this, that or the other. We shouldn't take away what belongs to James and give it to Remus. Remus isn’t James and never will be.
Everyone gets this, including Remus himself. Sirius always had just one person at the top of his list. Always. Just one. And no one could ever take their place. Remus didn’t even try to.
A jealous, demanding, sulking Remus—that’s just not him.
The fact that Sirius suspected Remus is a massively important detail for their entire pre-Azkaban relationship.
The Prank was never a big deal for the Marauders, but it did affect Remus. However, Remus wasn’t walking around holding a grudge against Sirius, nor did he try to punish him with silence.
No, it wasn’t Sirius who was most concerned about Remus and his lycanthropy. It was James.
Sirius wasn’t drooling over a cool, smart, and handsome Remus because that Remus never existed.
Remus didn’t make the first move towards Sirius. It was Sirius who did.
They didn’t argue and sort things out. They didn’t yell at each other. They didn’t insult each other.
But it was a very hard relationship. It had a lot of good in it, but it was very hard.
In my view, it was Remus who wanted to keep their relationship under wraps. The '70s in the Wizarding World. Besides being a werewolf, he also liked boys. Clearly, that’s not something he’d want to boast about to his friends. He might have been really scared of how James would react. James was a much more authoritative figure for Remus than Sirius. Remus didn’t know anything about what was going on (or not) between Sirius and James.
Sirius and Remus in Wolfstar are revealed in ways they wouldn’t be if there wasn’t Wolfstar.
Wolfstar is a difficult ship, and it’s not about happy love, despite having many good and happy moments. Its tragedy isn't just that the war took everything from them. Wolfstar is difficult because of the characters involved. It’s not a heartbreaking story of two madly in love lovers. The tragedy of Wolfstar is quite mundane and, perhaps, too real.
As Tolstoy said in Anna Karenina, "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." "Canon" Wolfstar is meant to show just that. There can’t be two insanely in love happy boys who were just separated by the complexities of war but continued to love each other madly. That's just not Sirius and Remus.

And then there's how not one of them realize their marauders is probably exactly why Snape ended up bullying children. "Oh, he always had a nasty attitude" James Potter was the first Draco Malfoy, he was just as nasty only posher about it, and excuse me this is an eleven year old boy from an abusive neglectful household cut the child some slack!
You know what's really telling? I saw a cosplay of lily in a reel that was like based off the aftermath of the werewolf prank, and someone asked When Did This Take Place and someone else answered it was from All The Young Dudes.
A canon event. From that particular fanfiction the said. Granted the poster corrected them but if that doesn't sum up the general attitude of that group I don't know what does.
The thing is, James and Sirius were no different to potential Death Eater students, their magic was just without the taboo that Dark Arts have. I mean come on, two rich pure blood children bullying, hexing, jinxing, and hurting a lone, very poor, half-blood? How is that any different to the young Death Eaters?
And it's this trauma they inflicted on Severus Snape that led him to become the person he is. You think he'd single out Grynfindor students for this kind of attitude if he wasn't traumatised by Grynfindor students? Come to think of it, would he have even become a death eater if he wasn't tormented in hogwarts and it was safe for him there?
And then you've got the marauders fans who also love the potential Death Eaters while ignoring Snape. For fucks sake, James x Regulus is a thing! And the way they go about it is like Regulus and James actually did hang out in canon. Like okay, ship who you want that's fine, but Regulus is literally a worse Severus Snape. Regulus is the one who was obsessed with Voldemort, not Snape!
And the justifying the SA or ignoring it or even toning it down to "a prank" and saying Snape was also doing it to them. Like there's a reason the one who tones it down are Remus and Sirius, it's very clearly implied in the way they speak that they are toning it down for Harry. For goodness's sake Remus is proven by canon to be a liar when it comes to Snape! "Jealous of James's Quidditch skills" when did Quidditch ever come up in Snape's memories?! And Harry calls BS on Sirius "we were just fifteen" too. There's a reason Harry was so horrified that he didn't care Snape threw a jar in his direction (his direction, not at him, if it was aimed at him Snape wouldn't have missed), and it's because Harry understood the actual awfulness of what happened! It's written right there that Snape's heavily traumatized, and Harry of all people understood, Harry who tends to demonize Snape to the point that the others call him out on it understood it. I can't fathom how so many people read the books and missed the point
I have never encountered a fandom, especially on Tumblr in the age of social justice awareness, so intent on denying a victim of sexual assault is in fact a victim of sexual assault (JKR using the fade to black in a children’s book and Snape’s trauma response to Harry using Levicorpus is more than enough evidence to infer that James did in fact go through with his threat to remove his underwear). I can’t fathom it. I distinctly remember when OOTP came out and readers were horrified because the implication of that chapter could not be misunderstood. What on earth has happened in the years since?!
Ah but you see, social justice awareness but only for those that are deemed to be deserving of it.
Tumblr is also right in the age of "everyone who isn't perfectly perfect deserves to die", so that's why we also see plenty of Marauders stans say that Snape deserved everything that happened to him.
The logic is that since Snape was a bully and an asshole in general as an adult, his 15 year old self deserved to be bullied, almost killed and assaulted.
Also, it ties right in to the idea that James Potter and his gang of merry dumb fucks are the social justice warriors. Since they're on the "right side", fighting against muggleborn prejudice, against Death Eaters, against the Dark Arts in general., then everyone who opposes them is not only wrong, but the most evil people to have ever existed.
Of course, we know that the Marauders didn't attack Snape out of some fucked up sense of justice (not that it'd be better if they did anyway), even James himself doesn't even try to defend what he's doing, but Marauders fans love their characters so much that they will also ignore what those characters themselves say.

Shaving.
I'm sorry for writing this, it was a thought I had and I couldn't be in peace if I didn't write, my apologies.
Sirius Black x Plus Size!Reader. Summary: Sirius wants to help you to shave your pussy. TW. Characters are +18, modern AU, kinda sub Sirius?, mentions of pubic hair, reader doesn't like pubic hair, pussy kisses (? idk if that's a thing), mentions of Jegulus and Marlene x Lily. I was dying to use this photo.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bd0090cd2e548f150001585c5f3c53e8/ded4656efb1f03ee-d0/s540x810/2c987cb2c2d09ef088d9e0ba3b1bdae05e52caf9.jpg)
I DO NOT SEE/DESCRIBE READER AS THE GIRL IN THE PICTURE.
Sirius found himself bored.
Even though everyone had much things to do, he would simply do what he feels like it. He wasn't dumb enough to spend hours and days studying for a test (he could get an approving grade without trying) but he sure wasn't enough of a nerd to spend hours and days studying (he knew he could never get straight A's as Lily, Remus, Regulus and his girlfriend do), but he and James were fine with just getting on the next grade.
Unlike him, James and Marlene (who parted ways with so each one could go and annoy their partner, trying to see who, between Regulus, Lily and you would get tired first and kick them out of the room) you were concentrated on your books, trying to get the best grades for every class you were taking.
"Baaaaaaby"
You heard Sirius crying, entering to the room. Your eyes were still fixated on your book and your tiny notes along side.
"Baby, please, listen to me"
You finally look up at his pleading tone of voice. You smiled when your eyes catch him, he was the prettiest boy you've ever seen (Sometimes you would tell him Remus was so you could piss him off. He would get extremely jealous, in a really, really childish way, because you used to have a crush with Remus and both of you had your fun back in your single days, which reminds unknown by Sirius or anyone. Jealous Sirius was the most adorable thing ever, but that's another topic). Sirius had cut his hair a few weeks ago, now it had started to grow and part of it was obstructing his face, like bangs, but he hated when you would tell him about his bangs.
"Yes?"
Sirius pouts at you for using that tone.
"Why do you hate me?" You sigh, knowing where this was going, and deciding not to put any more attention on him your eyes are back on your book, his reaction was pouting even more. "Looooooooove, please. Pay attention to me"
"You're such a whore attention, did you knew that, Sirius Orion Black"
He smiles and nods when you finally get up from your desk. Sirius opens his arms when he sees you walking to him, you hug him in response.
"I miss you so, so much"
"Sirius, we haven't been away for more than two hours this past days"
"Pleeease" He pleads, gaining a confused look from you. "Let me be inside of you"
You start to shake your head, laughing "No way"
"Why?"
"I'm working on my assignments" You quickly answer, going back to your desk "And I haven't shave"
Sirius pouts even more, looking adorable, he looks at you with puppy eyes and leans in your desk, his chest obstructing your book and you look at him with a smile. He wouldn't be insisting any more into you cockwarming him, he knows how much you hate to do anything sexual when you haven't shave, no matter how much he would tell you that pubic hair really doesn't bother him, you wouldn't allow anything to happen when it's too far from the day you shaved and too near from your shaving day.
Being your number one simp and fan, Sirius knew like the palm of his hand your period calendar along with your shaving calendar. So, being Saturday 13th, twenty days far from the day he knew you shaved, he knew you will have to do it between today and tomorrow.
"Let me shave you"
You look at him, now confused, and kinda disgusted. You didn't know why but to think about Sirius, your boyfriend, or any past person who was involved with you sexually, seeing you hairy would send a sensation of discomfort and disgust.
"No"
"Baby, please"
"No, Sirius"
"I knew you didn't love me no more"
"Sirius, stop"
"Pleeeeease, let me shave you, baby"
"No" You look at him, pushing him gently from your desk "Now shut up"
Sirius looks at you in silence for a second.
"I'll do all the steps you do" He pleads "I'll put your creams, your soap, everything"
Would it be that bad to give it a try? You really hated to shaved, but you hated even more pubic hair so that's basically what has got you through all this days.
"Fine"
That fine sounded more like a question than an affirmation but it was enough for Sirius, who ran to your bathroom to get all your stuff into that little car you first bough for books but ended being more useful for skin care.
"But I'm gonna keep studying"
Sirius nots and goes into the bathroom again, getting your towel to put it on the little couch you had in your room, placing it gently and instructing you to sit, you obey him, taking your book with you and getting off your pants and underwear before sitting.
You tried to not think about the hair. It wasn't an insecurity for you, you just hated it so much it was insane. So you concentrated on your book, glancing at Sirius who seemed really concentrated every now and then.
"You know how to start?" He shakes his head with a cute little smile, getting first your chemical exfoliant to start preparing the skin gently. "You ask me if you need to know something, deal?"
"Of course, love"
You smile at him and go back to your book. A few minutes later you couldn't process a single word the book has printed in it. You were totally obsessed with Sirius working on your pussy. If someone would tell you that your future and first official boyfriend would be shaving your pussy you wouldn't believe it, not in a million years. But it was Sirius Black, the boy who could make you feel comfortable with just being there, who would never say something hurtful towards you and who would never dare to disobey you because he was totally enamored with you and he hated you seeing you mad or crying.
"Love, I need you to spread your legs a little bit more open. Your skin is obstructing the sides of your pussy"
You laugh at the petition, gaining a look from him, smirking when he notices you have leave your book aside.
It was easier to just say that the fat in your tights was the one obstructing the way, but Sirius grew up with the idea that the word "fat" was bad, and insult, and the last thing he wanted was to insult you, and even though you have tell him, "fat" wasn't a bad word, and you didn't see it as one, he would still be very nervous to call you that.
He loved your fat, let's be honest. There was nothing more that Sirius loved than being trapped between your tights, or your belly when he would give you butterfly kisses, causing the extra skin on your belly to shake.
You jump a little when he tries to shave the curve between the tights and the pussy, failing on maneuver the razor and causing a little cut. Sirius looks at you totally scared when he sees the the red thread of blood going out.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so, so, so sorry, my love. I'm really sorry, I-"
"Sirius, it's fine. It was just an accident"
"But I hurt you, that was so irresponsible of me, I'm the worst boyfriend ever, I'm sorry, darling, I'm- Please don't hate me" He cries "Don't leave me away from your pussy"
You laugh at the last sentence and grab Sirius chin to pull him near to you for kiss.
"It's fine, Sirius, really. It happens too often to me"
After the kiss, Sirius looks at you with puppy eyes.
"Can I go on?"
"Did you finish already" He shakes his head slowly "Then go on, prince"
Sirius smiles shyly and goes back to his job. Kissing your tights in the place where he cut you.
"I'm sorry" He says, still looking at your pussy.
"I told you it's fine, Siri"
"I'm not talking to you" He says, incensed at your voice, going back to talking to your pussy a few seconds after. He leaves a kiss near to your clit, in the parts where he has already shaved. "Gotta treat my pretty pussy right. I wouldn't want her to get hurt, do I?" He speaks in a childish voice and you just laugh. "No, of course I don't want that, you're my favorite thing"
Almost twenty minutes later, Sirius finishes. He already applied your creams and everything.
"You need a cotton pantie, love"
"Mmh?"
"So it doesn't tickles"
"Oh, yeah, yeah" You say, getting out of your head, where your only thought was Sirius, concentrating in your pussy and only your pussy. Sometimes in you. You would jump sometimes to make him worry only for him to apologized to between your tights. "I'll go get them"
"No, my love. I'll go. I need my pussy to rest"

ALL of this. Also, you're absolutely right, I skimmed over this point but it's a really important one:
things become more complex when you start to break things down into demographics (something that admittedly not all case studies will do, sadly biases do exist in all academic fields to some degree and we can only keep trying to do better).
As well as the point about a lot of Snape fans experiencing the feeling of being othered. And I think you're also right about the way JK Rowling being a bully herself leads to readers feeling like these kinds of moments in the books connect them with their own experiences in ways Rowling didn't intend, but sure as hell perpetuates. So much of her ugliness shows through in the way she writes characters, and who she reserves sympathy for and who she doesn't.
I also think you make a really good point about how nervous it must have made Lupin when his friends kept pushing Snape further and further with their bullying like this, when he could snap at any second and announce to the crowd that he was a werewolf. Because after a certain point, most people will just go, why am I protecting this person if I'm suffering like this anyway? If these people are already doing their worst to me, then they have no weapons left. It reminds me of Harry saying to Uncle Vernon, “Knocking the stuffing out of me won’t make Aunt Marge forget what I could tell her." I can see Lupin being anxious about this, and also that James and Sirius knew that Lupin felt too vulnerable to challenge them or find new friends, and they took advantage of this. Lupin, meanwhile, having grown up a lonely kid with a stigmatized disability, would have just been grateful for anyone wanting to be his friend, so there would have been a lot of internal conflict there.
I don't think it's a stretch to think that people watching James give in to his worst instincts would have talked about it afterwards with unease. We only hear the perspective that he was popular from Lupin and Sirius, whose memories are inevitably biased. Popular doesn't always mean liked; people, especially kids, often accept that the attractive, wealthy kids are at the top of the social ladder. This may be a weird parallel, but a lot of people will get the reference at least: look at Regina George in Mean Girls and the way everyone emulated her and looked up to her but was also more than willing to laugh at the chinks in her armor when they started showing, and celebrated Janis Ian for standing up to her. So I think it's reasonable to assume that some people walked away from SWM going, "I don't like that Snape kid either but that was just fucked up." And when people start saying that to each other and finding that others agree, the popular kid who hexes everyone for his own amusement, who all those people have been quietly waiting to see get his comeuppance, starts to be less liked.
And I think you also make a good point about him threatening Lily, and that affecting the people watching. But I also think that James was probably transparent af to everyone in their year, and it was no secret he liked Lily (especially as he asked her out coerced her to date him so casually in front of everyone, like it wasn't the first time he publicly put her on the spot like that). And it must not have been a huge secret that Snape and Lily had been friends for years. It doesn't take a genius to add two and two together, and I wonder if one of the reasons Lily went out with James in the end was not just that he had changed, but because for years no one would ask her out or go out with her for fear that James would get jealous and target them too.
I have a HC that James experienced, for the first time, what it was to be criticized after SWM. It makes sense to me that people liked Lily because she was a likeable person, as opposed to James who was popular but not necessarily liked, like Regina George (James Potter is a life ruiner. He ruins people's lives). He would have acted out at first as a result, and found that it just made people more uncomfortable around him. He had a need to be liked and to be powerful, and once those things started to slip out of his grasp, maybe he did eventually become more humble - or at least project a kind of humility, even if it was insincere, to gain some of it back.
I don't think he changed inherently as a person, but that he learned different ways to win back some measure of the status he lost. Because there's a reason for the saying, "how the mighty fall." The people in that crowd watching Snape get bullied that day, and the people they gossiped about it to, would probably have also enjoyed watching someone like James fall from their place atop the social ladder, especially if a lot of them had been hexed for fun by James and Sirius at some point. Especially if you think about how James was part of a tight knit group of friends, so there was no adhering to his underbelly the way people would have done with a bully like Tom Riddle. No one really benefitted from defending him when he went too far with his bullying, and everyone would have benefitted from taking him down a peg, all it would have taken was for enough of a consensus among the students because there's strength in numbers.
I don't know, the thing that keeps sticking in my mind is this moment when James takes off Snape's pants being a turning point. There's often something abstract and funny in seeing someone in their underwear (I don't think there is in the context of bullying, btw, just to clarify). It's cartoonish. There's an association with going to a panto at Christmas, or a Bugs Bunny cartoon (which were around for decades by the 70s), or Monty Python etc. But seeing someone's genitals being exposed sort of pulls back that curtain. There's a cultural acceptance of exposed underwear = comedy, but exposed genitals are much less accepted. If for no other reason, than because the media people consume tells them this, as per the restrictions put on it by censors. People at the time would have been used to seeing a stranger in their underwear and have been told repeatedly that this is comedy, but they wouldn't have been used to seeing actual genitals, at least not in a desexualized way. This was the era of flashers vs. streakers - streakers being celebrated for making a voluntary social statement about freedom, and flashers being considered creepy for exposing themselves with the deliberate purpose of making strangers uncomfortable. Nudity is a much more volatile and invasive thing in culturally conservative Britain, especially in a posh school, than exposed undergarments. So I think that that would have been the moment where people went from being amused to feeling uncomfortable, because they were now seeing something that they didn't agree to and didn't know how to process.
No, this kind of bullying wasn't considered sexual assault at the time, but the year Rowling published the book was the same year it legally became SA. And even in the context of the 70s, just because it wasn't considered SA doesn't mean people were fine with it. Britain didn't just wake up one day and go, "we've changed our minds about this." Sexual harassment was legal for decades of women being part of the workforce and saying, "this is awful and it needs to stop" before they got legal protection. So saying that this kind of bullying was legal at the time is a far cry from saying it was also accepted, let alone celebrated.
It says a lot to me about the Snape fandom and the issues a lot of people have to deal with, that so many responses to that imagining (not even headcanon) of what happens in the rest of SWM that we don't see are just assertions of human nature being terrible and that no one would have cared.
I'll skip the tangent on how that's not even what the post was about (it wasn't about people becoming sympathetic towards Snape, and it wasn't about James becoming a better person - it was about the effect of seeing that degree of bullying on the students who witnessed it). I'm just... a little worried about the cynicism I'm seeing?
Bullying makes most witnesses uncomfortable. They pretend it doesn't when it's happening because they don't want to stand out from the crowd and be targeted next. And because they often don't know what to do even do about it. Most people don't realize how much agency a bit of confidence (even if feigned) can give them. They want to fit in and be like everyone else, and everyone else is either ignoring the bullying or teasing the victim too, so they think they're being weird and everyone else is fine with it, so they should be too. But, as it turns out, most people aren't fine with it. Sure, some are, and some people are also just terrible people and are bullies themselves. But if you've ever talked to adults who witnessed someone else being bullied when they were a kid, most of them say they felt bad for the victim, they felt awkward, but didn't know how to speak up or were afraid to. There's a lot of "better them than me."
I'm not saying it's OK, by the way. Bystanders being cowardly is still shitty. But people are much more complex and inherently empathetic (that's not naivetee, that's proven by sociological studies repeatedly), partly because we all see ourselves in others. It's an ingrained part of being social mammals. So this idea that a group of onlookers can see their fellow student being made vulnerable and helpless while he's humiliated, and they wouldn't respond to that in any negative way and see it purely as entertainment, is... a profound misunderstanding of how people work.
James went as far as he did because of his contempt for Snape, but the others in that crowd didn't feel as strongly. James was acting out his feelings of "I hate this guy and how he's friends with the girl I like while she keeps rejecting me, I hate that he's smart and talented when he's from a clearly working class background and doesn't belong in the same class as me and my privilege." The crowd saw Snape as "that weird kid none of us are friends with." In SWM James basically acts on his own feelings fully, and my personal imagining (that no one has to agree with just please can people maybe try to express their disagreement in a way that doesn't assert it as fact, because it's weird y'all, it's weird when you posit your personal HC as fact) is that the gap between how much James hates Snape and how much the crowd just dislikes him becomes too wide, and James' actions no longer align with the crowd's sense of what Snape, as a weird kid, deserves. "Well, back then it was just what you did, there was always a kid who got beat up all the time" is often followed with "I felt bad for them, sure. Everyone knew their bully was a bully. But I didn't want to say anything. I didn't want to end up getting beaten up too."
My point is, there's a lot of internalized abuse victim and also some unintentional (?) enabler behavior I'm seeing on this post and I just... hope y'all are OK.

Barty Crouch Jr Headcanons because it is his birthday according to my AU today!
Lots of daddy issues. He hates his father and it is mutual because all his father feels for him is disappointment.
His mother is either too busy to notice him but at least when she does, she shows him love. Mainly treats him like a baby.
Grew up practically by himself and alone.
Knows his parents don't care about him. They only maintain their marriage and their son for public image.
Hates the name Bartemius and when someone calls him that he gets in rage.
Does stupid things all the time to get his parents attention. He is very reckless similar to Sirius but what got him into Slytherin was his bigger ambition.
He wishes to be better than his parents and be as much of a disgrace to his father as possible.
Loner at first. His only friend was Regulus. Kind of hates everyone else. Hates their superiority and superficiality of his classmates.
Barty and Regulus were practically invisible. Everyone knew who they were because of their families but nobody cared about them.
They were happy being invisible.
Became punk and emo at the age of fourteen. Has a lot of piercings across his face. Wears black eyeliner.
He always has his nails black.
Bartemius Senior was ashamed that his son was "not masculine enough". So he was constantly throwing away his clothes and piercings and replacing them with "decent clothes".
Barty cut them off and styled them punkly.
He is weird most of the time for the rest of kids. Everyone at Hogwarts knows them as "The Weirdo Crouch". But he loves being different.
Regulus is his favorite person in the whole world. Reg started being the only person that actually cared for him. Then Barty slowly developed a crush on Reg.
It was just the two of them against the world.
Very gay. At first he invented crushes on girls only because he didn't want Regulus to judge him. But eventually he didn't care about being obvious about his crush on him and that he wasn't interested in girls.
Barty was pining for Regulus all the time. Regulus was very oblivious though.
It was funny because everyone else called them boyfriends anyway.
Barty's favorite color is turquoise
He wants to be a film maker in the future and it is always filming stuff around.
Is smoking weed all the time.
Had his hair honey brown and green eyes as well as his father's which made him look adorable as a kid. But dyed his hair black with rays of platinum at some point. Loves to change colors all the time. He wants to look very different to what his father is.
Fan of Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance.
Was very jealous of Regulus and Pandora's friendship at first and he didn't like her. But eventually he learns to like her.

Peter Pettigrew's Headcanons because it is his birthday today in my Canon and because we need more content of this boy (This is according to my Muggle Modern AU):
He was born on October 6th, 1995. He is the oldest of the Marauders but he has a baby face so he looks like the youngest.
He grew up only with his mother. His father abandoned him when he was a baby. Peter never wanted to meet him because with his mother it was enough.
His mother is his hero and his best friend.
Although he looks like his mother. She is always saying that Peter had his father's eyes (deep blue). And that was the only good thing about him.
Actually, one of the few things Peter likes about himself are his eyes. He has the brightest eyes of all the Marauders. A beautiful kind of blue. Kind of the clear water at beaches. People agree with this.
Peter's mum (Margaret) is a very beautiful woman. She learned from a young age that she could get things with her beauty. Especially from rich blokes. So Peter's mum had had many rich boyfriends that had gotten her and Peter good things.
Peter doesn't particularly likes his mother's boyfriends. But he thinks his mother deserves to be happy so he supports her.
Fun fact: Margaret dated Castor Lestrange (Rodolphus and Rabastan's father) for a while after his divorce. And he got Peter the ticket to Hogwarts. But Rodolphus and Rabastan didn't like her. And never wanted to meet her or Peter.
Peter used to be in another school where he was bullied. He was a fat boy and because of this he became obsessed with diets and counting calories. So he got an eating disorder.
Peter got to Hogwarts when he was twelve.
He followed James and Sirius everywhere because he wanted to be their friend so badly. And at first they didn't like him because they thought he was annoying. But then he became part of the group and the boys adored him.
Peter is AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE MARAUDERS.
Peter is shy with the people he just met. Especially girls. But when Peter gets comfortable, he is very funny to be around.
He is actually the one out of the four who says things as they are and doesn't try to sugar them to be polite.
Peter and Sirius are fighting all the time because they are very different, actually opposites. And they are constantly critizing the things that the other wears or does.
Peter actually tells Sirius when he is being an idiot. Because James is a sweetheart and tries to be gentle. And Remus just ignores him. But Peter confronts him.
Peter accepted and supported Sirius and Remus relationship very quickly. Differently from James who was jealous and kind of scared of losing them at first.
Peter helped Remus get his first binder by selling pastries around school.
Peter is a big Star Wars fan and he also loves Anime.
Peter is Heteroromantic and Greysexual. There are times when he is not interested in sex at all. And there are others when he is.
Peter's first girlfriend was a girl named Susan when he was 16. He really fell for her but she was too manipulative and jealous. He finally broke up with her when she made him chose between her and The Marauders. He would always prefer his friends.
After that, Peter had a crush on Mary Macdonald for a while. They became really good friends. And he was scared of ruining by telling her his feelings. So he didn't say anything. Plus he thought he wasn't good enough for Mary.
When he finally told her, Mary confessed that he loved him. But just as friends (Mary is actually Aromantic for me).
Peter got angry and tried to distance himself from Mary. But then he missed her and she missed him. Peter understood that he could have Mary in his life. Just as friends and that was more than enough. So they become the bestest of friends.
Peter met a girl named Nathalie after school. When he was 23. And she became his soulmate. They get married in the future.
After school, Peter wasn't sure about what to do next. He didn't know what he liked. So he had several jobs. But nothing seemed to be working.
Peter was very good at baking when he was younger. But kind of stopped because it triggered his eating disorder. But one day, he posted pictures of homemade recipes he had done for his friends. And people started asking him if he sell them. So that's how he got the idea for his business. And he ended up liking it very much.
My Peter never betrays his friends. He is actually very close to them. He sees them every week and he is a good Uncle for Harry.

You're so full of hypocrisy it's unreal. Required and unrequited doesn't make a difference. If your idea of love means losing the affection for a person after they are dead then I pity the person you end up with. Loving someone after years just shows how deeply they affected your life and how much you cared for them. Creepy is smelling their underwear without them knowing. Creepy is stalking them and threatening them.
And a crucial argument still stands, there's no proof of Snape being romantically in love with Lily. Zero.
Draco wasn't abused, draco wasn't neglected. He wasn't spoiled materially he was spoiled in every way, both Lucius and Narcissa were ready to give the first and the last for their family especially for Draco, this argument was made up to make someone who was actually what people make Snape as. Give a proof, a mention or an implication of Draco being mistreated in any way.
James and Sirius didn't grow up and weren't "just a shitty teenagers". James literally lied about stopping with his bullying, Snape never did anything to them which wasn't a defensive reaction to them bullying him, but you are so sure give me proof. Give me quotes.
Give me a canonical proof of James and Sirius changing, because I have plenty of them not.
Give me a quote and a proof of Snape bullying them.
Snape wasn't jealous of James, Snape was bullied by James and traumatized. James was jealous of Snape being so close to Lily.
One does not grow out of trauma. There is much more to their dynamic then not getting over something. Snape was emotionally scarred by constant humiliation and bullying, attempted murder and sexual assault. He wasn't upset James "took Lily" his hatred wasn't even about Lily, it was about being tormented and his bully not facing any consequences and still being praised.
Also Snape's arc is not an opinion. It's black and white on paper. Opinion is whether his love was romantic or platonic, not what his arc was about. He regretted what his actions caused, he worked all his remaining life fixing them. That's not an interpretation, that's a fact, one that cannot be changed.
Snape is not loved, Snape is one of the most hated character in the series, your opinion is exactly the same as everyone else's.
You posted this shit into a tag for Snape fans where it was not wanted, you should have expected people reacting to it. If you don't want the stuff you post challenged and corrected, don't post it or avoid tags, certainly avoid the Severus Snape one. And there is a difference between an opinion, just poor comprehension skills and little to knowledge of how people work.
@royalydamned snape was creepy because he was in love with lily after several years, is okey if he still had some caring and love for the one person who treated him well and was his first friend and first love, but is creepy when you grow up and still are in love with that person. With the other characters is al most the same, just is a little better because at least it was recíproco at least at the end, but I don't think it was very well of JK to put all the characters with theyr love of highschool, is not much character development for my opinion.
For me, snape doesn't regret what he had done, he regret call lily a mudblood and he feel guilty for her Death, is not the same. And James doesn't was the only one in that, snape also try him and his friends very bad, all of them was shity persons, or at least shity adolescents. But James, serius and remus grow up and stop, snape doesn't stop because he was jelaus of James, and is understandable because he take her away from him in románticall way, but not to be angry for that for ages.
After when he was a teacher he bullying his students, and that is not okey. He hates harry because he is bassically a copy of James with lily eyes, and it would be understandable if not was hate. He caring for harry because he still was in love with lily, at least that was I understand of him.
Being abused and bullyed doesn't excuse what he had done, how he trate others.
And all the point of the books was they're childs in a war, and I understand that draco show that very well, but I can't belive that the malfoys was a loving family and all his friends was good friends who cared for him, for doesn't show that way. And yes, he was spoiled in a material way, but that doesn't mean that maybe he was psicologicaly abused by lucius, or neglected.
I know my opinion is not every ones opinion and i'm okay with that, i'm not trying to infiltrate in nowhere just for puting some general #. I know snape is a very loved character, but not all the fandom love him.
Your opinion not was recuested as well, but I respect what you think because is your opinion and I has mine. You has your interpretation of the characters and I have mine, please respect my opinion how I respect yours.
