The Graham boys were very good boys, as far as nine-and-a-half year-old boys go. They came home from school and called their dad at 4:00 on the dot. They asked any homework questions they might have, or otherwise talked about video games and skateboarding and superheroes. Then they finished their homework, mostly, maybe guessing at a couple questions. Then they had a little over an hour left to mind their own behavior until their mom came home.

Their favorite thing to do was to call some friends over to the local basketball courts and shoot some hoops.

“I bet you wouldn’t talk to her,” Felix teased.

“Why wouldn’t I talk to Amaya? She’s with my cousin. I can talk to her. I’ve talked to her before.”

“Dare you,” Felix jabbed.

“What’s the big deal about talking to Amaya,” Milo asked, innocently spinning his basketball.

“Because she has boobs, duh! They’re bigger than Bianca’s boobs!”

“Eeew,” Zach cringed. “Don’t talk about my cousin’s boobs!”

“Hey, Zach. Why do you look weird? Are you about to be embarrassing?”

But Zach wasn’t embarrassing. He was clever and funny and told jokes about their stupid teachers, and while still a little short and scrawny for a middle-schooler, Amaya giggled in a way that made her eyes bright and brand new breasts bounce, and she said, “You’re kind of funny.”

Back on the court, Felix scowled. “He’s talking to her.”

“He said he would,” Milo said. “I don’t get it.”

“Uh, you don’t get anything. This is boring. You wanna see what’s in the dumpster?”

“Yeah, okay.”

And while the Graham boys are running wild, ordering dares, (being disappointed), and terrorizing the neighborhood, where is their mother?

Mama needed some self-care. She came home and she had a really bad day.

(Part 10 is about to explain why!)

Do you see how this is all Jordan’s fault, Colette would like to explain? Because he used to have the boys after school from 3-6:00, and now he’s not here (discounting a 20-minute phone call from thousands of miles away). So she has to come home from work early, which stresses her out, which means she needs more self-care. And how is she supposed to get her self-care without their father in the house?

So, that put a little pep back in her step.

Now she’s ready to go supervise her children or something.

I’m still trying to decide what parenting style Colette should have. She’s like, strict and controlling, while also being totally uninterested and negligent, on and off, back and forth, lol!

Kenya: Oh I- No I was going to tell you I just-

Solana: I understand that you’re passionate about your music. But failing every single one of your exam?! Kenya this is not okay.

Kenya: I know. I know.

Solana: Do you? You’re averaging as a B student. I don’t understand how you could’ve let this happen.

Kenya: I don’t know.

Solana: Kenya we need to think about what could be distracting you. This cannot continue if you two are going to get into Ubrite.
