Have not been on here nearly as much as I used to-outside of my job I've been working very hard on my next cosplay build: Electra from starlight express
This is the most complex costume I've ever made, but I'm very pleased with what I have so far!
Still have a lot of ways left to go! But it's been extremely rewarding seeing things piece together so nicely
Write-up and WIP photos under cut
The very first thing I started with this costume was the bodysuit, it is the foundation that everything will sit upon so it should be out of the way first, and it would be easier to pattern my armour once I know how it will sit in relation to the rest of the costume
I also knew I would be wearing this to a convention and would want to have easy access for the washroom, so I actually turned a full bodysuit pattern into separate leggings and a leotard with a snap crotch closure
Did the leggings first-at first I wanted to be as accurate as possible with a silver chrome foil HTV that I cut on my Cricut machine with the circuit pattern cut out- but I found out after ironing that despite there being all these spaces between the squares that the fabric did not stretch enough to be able to fit(I had made mock-ups for my clothing pieces and those did fit correctly)
Red sections of clothing is turned edge applique done with water soluble stabilizer so it could stretch after throwing it in the wash
So after that didn't pan out I switched to a stretch HTV, just using the same design files, and widened the legs a bit, it helped a bit but the HTV not only did not stretch enough, but does not like the lycra I was using and in areas with the most stretch the squares were peeling and in some places even falling off
At this point I had spent almost an entire month on just my leggings-clearly I had to try something else because the HTV was just not going to work
I got jacquard lumiere fabric paint in silver-it's okay if I could go back I'd probably just have gotten angelus leather paint I find it has much nicer stretch and softer feel
I also widened the spaces between my squares to give them a little more stretch, and cut just a full grid of adhesive vinyl to use as a stencil and kept the wider pants pattern from my second pair
I did have to mask off the circuit pattern this way but it came out very nicely and finally had a method that gave me a wearable garment
So I moved onto my leotard next with significantly less headaches- though my arms did not stretch enough after being painted but that was easily remedied with a gusset on the underarm
Collar is interfaced with flexfoam
Since my thigh armour will attach to the belt that was next, honestly pretty easy, mostly rectangles, used real studs and then permanent vinyl for the red and silver bits
Couplers are flexfoam inside a tube of silver pleather, physical belting straps is a thick interfacing covered with the same silver, had to use grommets for the belt holes because it was very frayed when I punched them open
Tumblr mobile won't let me add more than 10 photos on mobile but for my helmet I duct tape patterned my head and then used 2mm foam covered in worbla, used wood filler and sanded that as much as I could, then covered in a few layers of flexbond and then wet sanded that
Painted with automotive paint to get those little silver flecks, and then painted the colour blocks and covered them with glitter
Still have to add the stripes and chinstrap, and going to be using magnet snaps to attach the Mohawk to the helmet
That's essentially what I have so far!
I 3D modeled the little arrow thing that goes on the front of the belt and elbows, my brother's going to 3D print them for me 🤭
Started foam patterning this week, my original goal was to have this done by November 7th(leaving for the con I'm taking them to) but again-i did have almost an entire month of setbacks so I'm going to try to not take it too hard if I don't

National Legwear Day
National Legwear Day, which falls on September 22 each year, is a celebration of everything worn on our legs, including leggings, socks, tights, anklets, sheers, and more. In an age when people are looking for different ways to show off their personalities, legwear in all its different forms, shapes, and colors, has become a unique form of self-expression. Legwear is now a trending topic on the pop culture side too, and cool new bottom wear has regularly been featured across some top fashion magazines worldwide. These pieces of clothing are so popular that there’s even another international holiday for one of them — International Legging Day on October 18. This year, be sure to put on your best looks and strut your legwear in honor of this day.
History of National Legwear Day
We suppose clothes worn on the legs evolved alongside people’s need to cover themselves with more than leaves. There are certainly enough signs to indicate ancient civilizations — and maybe even people living before them — have worn some kind of cloth to protect their legs. 1700-year-old socks were found among the remains at an excavated Egyptian site. Leggings were men’s armor accessories in the 14th century.
At times, legwear was a status symbol. Around 1000 B.C., nobles and kings proudly sported knee-high stockings as a way to show off their wealth and social standing. Of course, most of these were made of the best, silkiest material there was. Giving people socks (or a legwear variation thereof) was a very welcome — and generous — gift in those times. Until the 19th century, wearing legwear — at least the publicly visible variations like the leggings — was limited to the male population of the world. Soldiers would wear leggings as a form of protection, using them to prevent dirt, sand, mud, and insects from getting to their lower legs.
Women’s lib and the silver screen idols rocking legwear really set the fashion world on fire. Suddenly, wearing pants, tights, leggings, and other legwear was the coolest trend of all. This popularity hit the stratosphere when the original fashion icon, Audrey Hepburn, wore Capri pants for her 1954 feature film “Sabrina.” By the 1960s, legwear, and especially leggings, were considered a female accessory. Lycra (or spandex, if you will), was a brand-new invention, Olivia Newton-John famously wore leggings in “Grease” (1978), and the 1980s brought crazy inventions to legwear that we still can’t forget.
As with most fashion trends, the old craze with legwear came back with a vengeance, especially because of 21st-century fashion icons and models, who made wearing non-traditional legwear a style statement. Today, seeing eye-catching colors, patterns, and shapes on legwear is nothing new, and most people wholeheartedly embrace this style. Among working men, it has become fashionable to wear funny, funky socks with their suits. To encourage more people to take up wearing fun legwear their way, American legwear manufacturer HanesBrands founded National Legwear Day in 2017.

The word ‘hosiery’ comes from ‘hosen,’ which means ‘covering.’ This is because these types of garments were initially used to cover (aka protect) the legs.

5 Fun Facts About Legwear
The oldest socks had split toes: Evidence at the site of ancient Greek colonies shows socks worn in that period were likely paired with sandals — the common footwear favored in that time.
Pantyhose were first called 'Panti-Legs': In 1959, Allen Gant Sr. developed his wife's prototype into the world's first commercial pantyhose, then called 'Panti-Legs,' which became immensely popular in the 60s'.
Foot cloths are better than stockings: Russian military personnel preferred a foot cloth called 'portyanki' — which they wore until 2013.
China's sock production: Datang in Zhuji, in the Zhejiang Province of China, is a famous global sock producer, with nearly one-third of the world's socks coming from this district.
One for each leg: Way back when leggings were almost exclusively associated with the male population, this legwear was actually two separate garments — one for each leg.
Why We Love National Legwear Day
Leg-wear in style: It's comfortable, stylish, and can be paired with pretty much anything. Everyone from models to influencers endorses this garment, and we think this old style is here to stay. Socks, tights, leggings, and other garments can be bright and colorful or sedate and subtle, depending on the occasion and our mood.
Legwear is for everyone: Who says color and style have to be limited to only one gender? Men, children, and others can easily slip into legwear for an explosion and expression of style.
It completes our appearance: A pair of leggings under short skirts. Tights under a dress or trousers. Socks for every occasion. Legwear is not only stylish, but highly functional too, and gives a modern, polished appearance.

Could Carlos Correa play for Twins this weekend vs. Cleveland?
New Post has been published on https://sa7ab.info/2024/08/06/could-carlos-correa-play-for-twins-this-weekend-vs-cleveland/
Could Carlos Correa play for Twins this weekend vs. Cleveland?
CHICAGO — Carlos Correa wants to make a rehab assignment before returning from plantar fasciitis that has forced him to miss 17 games through Monday night’s game against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. He didn’t do that last season when returning from the same injury, in a different foot, and wishes he had. “I felt like last time I didn’t get any at-bats, and it took me two, three games to get back to form, and then you’re playing catch-up,” he said last Saturday. “So, I think we’re in a good spot, and hopefully I can get back in there as soon as possible.” Could that be as soon as this week with Triple-A St. Paul? The Saints are host to six games against Columbus, but the all-star shortstop still needs to clear a few checkpoints before playing anywhere. As of Monday afternoon, there were no plans for Correa to be at CHS Field on Tuesday. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Correa will go out on assignment but said Monday, “I’m not exactly sure when it is at this point, but sooner than later. … He’s doing well. He’s getting close.” The Twins are 9-6 since Correa was sidelined just before the all-star break, and the goal is to get him back feeling good rather than get him back as soon as possible. On the other hand, it would be nice to have him back for a four-game series against Cleveland this weekend at Target Field. The Guardians have a 4½ game lead on the Twins in the American League Central Division with 50 regular-season games remaining. Fashion? It’s ‘comfort’ Carlos Santana turned 38 in April, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be a fashion trend setter, even if other major league players haven’t warmed to his pants-over-the-knees look. “For right now, no,” Santana said. “I’m the only player using (it).” The first-year Twins first baseman used to wear his baseball pants down past his shoe tops in the still-popular style pioneered by former Astros slugger Derek Bell. Now, he is essentially wearing shorts over a couple of pairs of lycra running pants. Why? “Comfort,” he said. “I changed to do something different, something fun, and to be comfortable. People like it, people don’t like it. But, you know, I feel good.” The pants are, of course, a special order. The Twins’ equipment staff cuts the pants to Santana’s desired length, then cuffs them with elastic. Royce Lewis is on board. “I think he has good swag, man,” the third baseman said. It certainly hasn’t hurt Santana’s performance this season. He entered Monday night’s game against the Cubs hitting .243 with 21 doubles, 14 homers and 48 runs batted in over 101 games while playing some of the best defensive baseball of his career. Santana won a Silver Slugger Award as Cleveland’s first baseman in 2019 but has never won a Gold Glove, something he hopes to do this season. Correa, a great student of baseball’s statistics, said he should. “If the season ended today, he should be a Gold Glover and a finalist for the Platinum Glove,” he said Saturday. “He’s got 11 Outs Above Average. He has been playing outstanding defense. He’s making everybody on our infield better every single day, with the way he picks every single throw that we throw in the dirt. “I think when you seriously consider his numbers, there’s nobody better in the American League, numbers wise.” That 11 outs above average leads all first basemen, according to mlb.com’s Statcast. Briefly Byron Buxton, who left Sunday’s game after hitting the wall on a catch in the sixth inning, was not in the lineup Monday. Baldelli said his day off wasn’t related to the collision and that the center fielder would play Tuesday night. … The Twins have placed left-handed reliever Steven Okert on the bereavement list. To replace him on the 26-man active roster, they recalled right-hander Josh Winder from St. Paul. … The Twins didn’t have any update Monday on Brock Stewart, who appears to be weighing whether to have season-ending surgery on his sore right shoulder. 5 Ways to Dress Classy and Elegant
1. Wear the right fit
For petite women: stick to classic cuts and silhouettes because they make you appear taller and leaner – no mini skirts or shoulder pads!
For curvy women: stay away from too-tight dresses, but wear belts and belted jackets to show off your waist – this helps define your curves without being too over the top.
For plus-sized women: Don long, full skirts and buckle belts to balance your body. Basically, belt them big and wear them big!
2. Choose the right colours
Decide which color family you want to emphasize. Reds and oranges can help you look more vibrant. For a serene look, focus on cooler colors like blues and greens.
Red can be hard to pull off (especially if it clashes with your skin tone). Avoid wearing it with white or black if you don’t want to look like a traffic light! Wear red, but pair it with soft colors like pinks, oranges, purples, and yellows – these colors complement each other.
Neutral colors, like black, white, beige, brown, etc., look good together if they are different shades or textures. Your clothes shouldn’t blend together – you want to stand out.
Shades of gray, black, and navy blue can give off a professional vibe. For something more casual, olive green, light pink, and beige can all work well.
For classy plus-size women, the same rules apply, but be careful because darker colors can make you appear bigger than you actually are. Instead of wearing full brown or black dresses, wear black with muted tans and reds – they’ll brighten you up.
3. Wear the right materials
A good rule of thumb is to avoid shiny or flashy fabrics. Cashmere, wool, velvet, or silk are good safe bets, but you can also pick matte jerseys and cotton.
Make sure the color and style of the dress fit the occasion. For example, wool is a great material for a winter suit because it keeps you warm. Cotton is perfect for a summer shirt because it’s breathable. Likewise, silk has a luxurious feel, making it ideal for evening gowns and dress shirts.
Cheap dresses often use polyester and rayon, which are unbreathable. As with lycra, it’s stretchy and tacky. So, we recommend sticking to natural fibers.
4. Examples of classy outfits
Tops: If you want to dress simple but stylishly, pick a floral print blouse or a crisp button-down shirt. Button-up blouses or those with a tie, silk tops, simple tees, or anything that fits well can make you look cute and put together. Try lace or ruffles to add some femininity.
Bottoms:
A pair of jeans or trousers look great when opting for a classy but casual look.
Below-the-knee A-line or pencil skirts look chic with a blouse or button-down shirt.
Tapered pants look great with a nice blouse or blazer for a formal ensemble, as well as with a tank top or t-shirt for an everyday look.
Ankle pants flatter all body types and are versatile for both work and play.
Dresses: A little black dress is always an effortless option for classy dresses, as is a well-fitting shift or shirt dress. A-line, wrap, and sheath dresses are chic clothing styles that look great at any event.
5. Wear classic accessories
Wristwatches: Looking at your wrist is a much classier way to keep track of time while you’re out in a meeting or on a date.
Handbags: Consider the purpose. For carrying all of your stuff, choose a big satchel or tote. Something more formal? Try a clutch or small handbag.
Sunglasses: A summer must-have! Pick simple, understated designs without too much detail or embellishment. A good pair of cat-eye or tortoise-shell sunglasses looks elegant in natural colors. To spruce up your look, pick a frame in a neutral color like navy or gray.
Jewelry: You don’t have to buy Tiffany & Co. jewelry to look elegant – know what pieces to wear at what times. Go for one statement neckpiece and avoid layering heavy jewelry. For earrings, go for statement earrings or simple silver, pearl, gold, or diamond studs. Don’t be afraid of timeless pieces like rose gold bracelets.

What To Consider When Buying Yoga Pants
The Kind Of Yoga You’ll Be Doing
Not all yoga pants are created equally. As you saw above, some have high waists, some have low waists, some have pockets while others don’t, and while most are fitted leggings, some yoga pants are actually joggers.
True, many yoga pants can be used across the board. After all, if the yoga pants are comfortable and stretchy, you could use them for yin yoga, Iyengar, restorative, vinyasa, or other types of yoga and for meditation. However, if you’re going to be doing power yoga, core yoga, fitness yoga, hot yoga, or Bikram yoga, you may be more comfortable in yoga pants that are better suited to very intense movement.
For instance, you’ll probably prioritize lightweight fabrics over soft but thick pants that will be too heavy for your workout. For these more intense forms of yoga, moisture-wicking fabrics are also key to keeping you cool.
Your Body Type
No two women share the exact same shape so there’s no single foolproof pair of yoga pants that will perfectly fit every single woman. If you have an especially long torso or legs, you may want to prioritize a style that is offered in several rises and inseam lengths.
Similarly, if you want more support in the midsection, a high-waisted yoga pant may be more comfortable, particularly during very active poses, where low- and mid-waisted yoga pants often roll down under your belly. Plus-size yogis will also appreciate how some brands, like Lululemon, offer a wide range of styles, colors and fits in inclusive size ranges.
How Frequently You Practice
Some of these yoga pants are on the pricier side and if you have a regular practice, it might be worth it to you to splurge on high-end yoga pants that can do it all. However, if you’re just getting into yoga, or if you only practice once or twice a month and usually wear the leggings as lounge pants (no judgement, we all do this!), then you can probably save yourself a few bucks and opt for a less-expensive pair.
What You’ll Use Yoga Pants For
Well, you’ll probably be using them for yoga, right? Of course, but you also may be wearing them for other activities. For instance, having multi-purpose pants makes dressing quick and easy so you may wear the same pants several days per week while working from home, hiking, kayaking, or just walking around town.
Super soft yoga pants might be perfect for meditation, restorative yoga, and lounging around but yoga pants designed for more active yoga might also be used for hiking or dance classes. Fitness-focused options like the Lululemon Align Yoga Pant also double as hiking tights since they are comfortable, wick away moisture to keep you cool, have pockets to stash keys and phones and they come in a high-rise variety that doesn’t roll down.
How Do I Keep My Yoga Pants From Smelling?
The simple answer to de-stinking your yoga pants is to wash them but there are a few things you can do to avoid the funk in the first place. First, always air out your yoga pants to get rid of all excess moisture as soon as possible since that can cause odors. If you tend to stuff your damp yoga pants in your gym bag after your workout, be sure to take them out as soon as you get home. You don’t necessarily have to wash them right away but at least take them out of the bag and hang them over a chair or doorknob so the air can dry them out.
You can also seek out yoga pants made with synthetic fabrics that help inhibit the growth of microbes (and stink). Keep in mind that even if your yoga pants are made with anti-odor technology, they will still accumulate some skin and sweat residue from normal use so you’ll want to wash them more frequently than jeans or lounge pants.
What’s The Best Way To Care For Yoga Pants?
Just like any other apparel, you’ll want to check the manufacturer’s label for specific care instructions. Don’t assume your yoga pants can handle hot water and high heat in the dryer as either could cause them to stretch or shrink. In general, you can extend the life of your yoga pants (and most clothes, for that matter) by washing them in cold water with mild detergent and hanging them to air dry.
How Long Should Yoga Pants Last?
Like most items out there, you get what you pay for. When it comes to yoga pants, pricier options not only tend to be more comfortable and have more features like moisture-wicking, anti-odor technology, but they also tend to be made of stronger, more durable fabrics.
If you go with a cheaper pair of pants, you may save money in the short term but you’ll probably spend more money in the long run because the seams will wear out faster. The pants could also develop holes in areas that tend to rub a lot, such as around the thighs or butt. If you’re able to invest in higher quality pants, you’ll probably appreciate their durability, as will the environment, which doesn’t need anymore low-quality garments tossed into landfills.
Finally, the lifespan of your yoga pants will also depend on how much you wear them. A rigorous daily practice wears out pants out a lot faster than a sporadic class every few weeks. If you invest in a high-quality pair of yoga pants and wear them several times per week, they should probably last at least a year or two. If you wear them less, they’ll last longer.
