He finishes up the spatter of hashed potatoes and ham, switching off the burner and setting the pan onto a different one. Then he curses himself for not immediately considering the crash, what could have fallen, where,

He knocked on his bedroom door, and then turned the knob when no answer called back.
"Hands in the air," a steady voice punctured, gun barrel pointed at his face. He followed the order without question. The vigilante from the warehouse slowly backed him up and ushered him into a chair in the living room.
Silan was initially thankful when they seemed less on-edge than they would've had they seen his wings last night.
"Where am I?" they asked, slow and still trained on Silan.
"The Krusing Wildlife Reserve."
That seemed to unsettle them deeply. "Why do you have a shelter built in the reserve?"
"I live here." Silan's brow furrowed, and he looked the vigilante dead in the eyes. "Like the rest of us who aren't enslaved yet." Then he paused. "Well—the rest of them."
The vigilante raised an eyebrow, and lowered the gun when they realized Silan didn't mean them harm.
"I'm sorry," they said first.
"It's nice to confirm that you're not working for the traffickers, but now I arguably can't tell if this is much better." Silan sniffled and laughed to himself. What a mess.
"Elaborate." The vigilante examined the meager portion of breakfast on the stove. Swung their head around the room with scrutiny, as if this was some history museum for something entirely not real.

Concrete is a common material that is used on many properties. It is highly durable and can withstand lots of wear and tear but it does have to be cleaned often.

Concrete is tough and resilient, but it isn’t immune to dirt and grime. The material makes up basement floors, garages, and driveways, all areas that are frequented by vehicles, dirt, and other debris. Dirt, mildew, and even spilled paint can cause ugly stains on concrete.
Most of the time, basic pH cleaners are enough to remove a variety of common stains. They also brighten concrete surfaces. When a stains persists, there are more potent chemical solutions to try. These include muriatic acid and oxalic acid. These chemicals can be hazardous to a person’s health, so they must be used with care.
If you decide to use these chemicals, be sure to wear protective gear and read the instructions carefully. You should also test any cleaner on an inconspicuous area of your concrete first. It’s a good idea to regularly clean your concrete floors, as well as any other surface that gets a lot of foot traffic.
Mildew
Some concrete stains are caused by living organisms, such as mold, mildew and moss. I’ve made this dish with both bee honey and date honey (silan). Either way, it’s a perfect choice for Rosh Hashanah.
Chicken with Date Honey, Ginger and Orange
one cut up chicken (or 6-8 pieces)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup date honey (or substitute regular honey)
1 large shallot, chopped
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh ginger
1 teaspoon grated fresh orange peel
1 teaspoon chopped fresh chili pepper, optional (or use a pinch of cayenne pepper)
1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary
salt to taste
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat in an ovenproof pan. Dry the chicken pieces and cook them a few at a time in the pan until they brown lightly, about 6-8 minutes. Mix the orange juice and date honey and pour over the chicken. Sprinkle the chicken with the shallot, ginger, orange peel, chili pepper, rosemary and salt to taste. Place the pan in the oven and cook for 35-40 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through, basting occasionally with the pan juices. Serve the chicken with the pan juices.
