Thanks for asking, it's my favorite show atm!

It's about three vets in the Yorkshire Dales and set in the late 1930's. Samuel West's character, Siegfried, owns a practice and since his business is growing he hires a new colleague, James from Glasgow who's just graduated. There's also Siegfried's (much) younger brother Tristan, he's still going to vet school but helps out during the summer and whenever he visits.

James, the main character, has a hard time adjusting to life in the Yorkshire countryside. He's also struggling with self esteem issues but mostly overcomes them during season 1.

Siegfried is a tough boss, but a big softie at heart. He's a widower, very well read, a hobby musician ... so many layers!

Tristan is .... the most lovable train wreck. He's super immature and doesn't really care about his studies, he's much more interested in women and drinking. He's already failed his exams at least once by the beginning of the show. And at the end of season 1 he fails again ... Siegfried opens the letter with the exam results and just decides to lie - he doesn't want to see his brother being humiliated again. Tristan's going to work at the practice anyway, that's already been decided, and Siegfried's sure that no one's going to ask for his qualifications. We'll see how that goes ... The gifset is from that scene.

Anywayys, the show is so good!!! The actors! The costumes! Beautiful scenery, cute animals, romance! A little bit of drama but not too much. I'm sure loads of people would find it boring. No gore, no violence, no fucked up people. Nothing wrong with that, but sometimes I need a break. 💜

doesn’t like to sing in front of anyone but you, it kind of happened when he once found you crying in your sleep and didn’t know how to stop your tears after waking you so he just started humming a lullaby his mother used to sing for him and it worked so well he always sings for you before sleep or when you’re really stressed out

17. Soft spot headcanon

come on, Siegfried is a big softy with such a big heart that Sieg didn’t deserve at all literally anything that isn’t even related to fighting can fluster him, but he’s super duper weak against any kind of surprises you have for him, be it surprise kisses/hugs or some new dragons he can slay, he will pull you against his chest and effectively press any air out of your lungs while he murmurs thank you over and over before he runs off to beat some dragon’s asses

He began these words with a frustrated scowl, as it was the only way he could really respond to such a statement. After all, it did not bode well that such an embarrassing weakness had been so easy to spot. Even more so that Siegfried of all people had taken note of it. So, with arms quickly folding in apparent indignation, the Wallachian Ruler turned to his fellow comrade and continued to glare at him. Though this time, there was a tint of red beginning to form on his cheeks.

“What you suggest isn’t untrue by any means, I will give you that. However, you must remember that I am the Voivode of Wallachia. That title has always been a first a foremost in my life, and personal feelings like softness or a need to be gentle to another has to be pushed back to better accommodate for my role as King. However, there are times where I will show more leniency-” He stops to cough, and whilst doing so takes the opportunity to try and better compose his failing self. It doesn’t work. “- And I suppose I like helping people, there is a certain amount of pleasure derived from seeing their happy faces… This is rare though, and you Siegfried shouldn’t go expecting me to suddenly coddle you with warmth and affection. Especially after hearing this!”
