Brevettato all'Aquila farmaco contro malattia rara delle ossa. Dall'Università è stato dato in licenza a un'azienda britannica e ora è in attesa del via libera per la sperimentazione clinica negli Stati Uniti. È nato in Italia, dove è stato brevettato all'Università dell'Aquila, e ora il primo farmaco contro la malattia rara che rende le ossa compatte come marmo e nello stesso tempo fragilissime è in attesa del via libera per la sperimentazione clinica negli Stati Uniti. «Il progetto è cominciato oltre 15 anni fa, grazie ai finanziamenti di Telethon, della Commissione europea e del ministero dell'Università e della Ricerca, ma solo in un secondo momento ci siamo concentrati su come sfruttare le conoscenze di base che fino ad allora avevamo raccolto sull'osteoporosi autosomica dominante per trovare una cura contro questa malattia rara», ha detto all'agenzia giornalistica Ansa la coordinatrice della ricerca, Anna Maria Teti, del dipartimento di Scienze cliniche applicate e biotecnologiche dell'Università dell'Aquila.

Il brevetto riguarda «piccoli Rna, detti siRNA, che regolano la formazione delle proteine da parte di Rna messaggeri: la loro funzione è riconoscere parti di Rna messaggero inducendone la degradazione, in modo che le proteine non si formino», spiega la ricercatrice. «Nel nostro organismo - aggiunge - un sistema fisiologico garantisce l'eliminazione del tessuto osseo vecchio e danneggiato e lo sostituisce con tessuto osso nuovo, rinnovando lo scheletro fino a dieci volte nel corso della vita». Nel caso della malattia delle ossa di marmo, invece, questo meccanismo non funziona regolarmente perché le cellule che eliminano l'osso vecchio non sono attive. Di conseguenza le ossa perdono la struttura cava all'interno, fondamentale per il regolare sviluppo sia del midollo osseo, ricco delle staminali che garantiscono la rigenerazione di sangue e ossa, sia delle connessioni nervose che l'attraversano. Si manifestano così seri problemi che riguardano la comparsa di fratture ricorrenti e di disturbi ematologici e neurologici. Quando l'osteopetrosi si manifesta in forma grave è spesso curabile con il trapianto di midollo osseo. Ci sono invece forme meno gravi, ma non curabili, nelle quali solo una copia del gene malato è mutata e domina su quella normale, inducendo la malattia. «Abbiamo pensato che progettando un siRna che degradi l'Rna messaggero mutato e lasci intatto quello normale, il paziente avrebbe prevalentemente proteine normali», dice Teti. Sono state così sperimentati molti siRNA fino a trovarne uno che «ha funzionato bene sia nelle cellule sia negli animali». Si tratta però di molecole che si degradano rapidamente e che per essere veicolate nell'organismo devono essere protette. I ricercatori italiani si sono perciò rivolti a un'azienda britannica, la SiSaf, specializzata nella produzione di nanoparticelle. «Ne abbiamo selezionata una che funziona bene sul modello animale della malattia, il brevetto è stato dato loro in licenza e - dice Teti - abbiamo cominciato a considerare la possibilità dello studio clinico». La domanda sarà presentata all'ente americano per la sorveglianza sui farmaci, la Food and Drug Administration, perché negli Stati Uniti c'è un grande gruppo di pazienti affetti da questa forma di osteopetrosi. «Il percorso per la sperimentazione clinica è ancora lungo, ma - conclude la ricercatrice - la cosa interessante che è questa tecnologia si può applicare ad altre malattie con caratteristiche genetiche simili». II Simpósio Internacional de Saúde e Aptidão Física de Agentes da Segurança Pública – II SISAF
A Universidade de Brasília e a Faculdade de Educação Física, por meio do Grupo de Estudos em Fisiologia e Epidemiologia do Exercício e da Atividade Física (GEAFS), em parceria com o Corpo de Bombeiros Militar do Distrito Federal – CBMDF e o Laboratório de Pesquisa sobre Gestão do Esporte – GESPORTE, e o apoio financeiro da Fundação de Apoio à Pesquisa do Distrito Federal (FAPDF), realizará o II Simpósio Internacional de Saúde e Aptidão Física de Agentes da Segurança Pública – II SISAF.
O evento terá como tema central a saúde e aptidão física de agentes da segurança pública e será constituído por mesas redondas e palestras, abrangendo distintos campos de atuação, com foco no risco cardiovascular a que são submetidos os profissionais da segurança pública, e sua associação com a aptidão física. Nesta segunda edição foram incluídos também outros temas críticos para a saúde dos agentes da segurança pública, como a qualidade do sono e a saúde mental.
O IIº SISAF acontecerá entre dias 19 a 22 de março de 2019, na Academia de Bombeiro Militar do Distrito Federal (Auditório Coronel José Nilton Matos), situado no Setor Policial Sul.

A proposta de realização deste evento é decorrente da crescente necessidade de reunião de especialistas para discutir temas de extrema importância para a saúde de profissionais que prestam relevantes serviços para a sociedade e que configuram um número muito elevado de trabalhadores. A proposta do evento vem também em decorrência do amadurecimento de relações institucionais e de desenvolvimento técnico-científico no Distrito Federal em área tão sensível e ainda carente de melhor mapeamento e intervenção na realidade do Distrito Federal. Diante do grande sucesso da primeira edição, constatou-se a necessidade de uma nova edição, com a proposta de realização periódica a cada dois anos.

Sibiu International Street ART Festival 2017, ediția a III-a
Sibiu International Street ART Festival anunță cei 24 de artiști români și 3 internaționali care vor revitaliza orașul prin artă urbană la ediția a III-a, desfășurată în perioada 3-9 iulie 2017.
În acest an, primul Tur de Artă Stradală din România, care conține deja 31 de lucrări realizate în 11 locații din Sibiu, va fi îmbogățit cu alte murale ce vor colora zidurile gri ale școlilor și liceelor din oraș. Dintre zecile de artiști străini bine cotați care și-au dorit să își aducă aportul la ridicarea nivelului estetic al acestor locații, au fost aleși Urka din Italia, Wasp Elder din UK și Camilo din Portugalia, care revine după o altă lucrare realizată anul trecut pe fațada unui liceu.
Alături de ei, nume de referință ale street art-ului din România sau artiști plastici aflați la început de drum vor face parte din line-up-ul acestei ediții. Printre aceștia se regăsesc cunoscuții Sweet Damage Crew, Kitră, The Orion sau Pisica Pătrată – artistul care semnează imaginea ediției 2017, dar și Ștefan Radu Crețu, care va realiza o instalație.
Autorii noilor lucrări incluse în Sibiu Street Art Tour sunt artiști care s-au înscris la selecția proiectelor de artă stradală, desfășurată în luna aprilie, urmând tema ediției „a, b, z / 1, 2, 9 / smile, love, like”. Aceștia vor putea realiza murale pe zidurile instituțiilor de învățământ la singurul festival din lume care reușește să facă asta, an de an, cu sprijinul Primăriei. În completarea lor, alți artiști vor avea șansa să își implementeze pentru prima dată ideile pe panouri, chiar în centrul istoric al orașului, în timp ce iau pulsul trecătorilor și al publicului.
În paralel cu munca depusă de artiștii street art în cele 7 zile de festival, SISAF propune un program plin de activități conexe. Vor fi organizate conferințe și dialoguri despre artă și spațiu urban, întâlniri cu artiștii, workshop-uri, tururi și expoziții de fotografie. Piața Huet – zona 0 a festivalului, devine epicentrul street art-ului, fiind locul de întâlnire al iubitorilor și pasionaților de artă realizată și expusă în stradă. Aici sunt programate concerte cu artiști din diverse zone muzicale, care vor anima atmosfera. Șuie Paparude și Dragonu AKA 47 și-au confirmat deja prezența la festival și vor cânta în cinstea spiritului liber al celor care simt și rezonează cu cultura străzii.
