Fun fact! Did you know that Kinomoto Sakura and Hinamori Amu are the same age?
In fact the entirety original series of Shugo Chara and Cardcaptor Sakura happened in ELEMENTARY school. And all of Amu's classmates (except Kukai on the left whose 1 year older and Yaya on the right whose 1 year younger) starter the series at 10 and ended the series at 12 years old.
The only 2 other main cast who are not 12 are Utau and Ikuto who started the series at 14 and 15 and ended the series at 15 and 17 respectively.
Canonically, Ikuto (who is now the yabai age of 17 to her 12) is technically not Amu's boyfriend (at least not yet) but still when I learnt about their age a long time ago I was still like oof 😬
Thankfully Ikuto has been relocated overseas where his yabai hands can't reach in the new sequel manga but that's not gonna stop Peach Pit from making a new yabai cat boy to take his place hahaha
I do wanna add after going back to this series decades later I did notice that the transformation costumes are surprisingly tame for what could have easily been a real easy fan service opportunity if the mangaka was that kind of person. In fact the most fan serivce transformation is Ikuto's.
It is canon that you lose your Shugo Chara once u turn into an adult which was probably why they are all so young, and I guess the mangaka never thought that far into the idea of a 5 year gap between flirting elementary and middle school children would be. It was a manga written in 2006 and other mangas (yes even Cardcaptor Sakura) had questionable pairings between characters with so I'll just chock it up to a manga of its time.
Anyways excited for a new era of Shugo Chara! It was one of my favourite animes growing up and I can't wait to see how this sequel goes!

Rima referring to Ikuto as "Amu's boyfriend" and giving her advice on how to make him jealous gives me a thousand years of life.

Back on for a bit
Hello hello ~
It has been a VERY long time since I have been on this account, honestly since I've been on Tumblr in general. A lot has happened, I recently graduated grad school and I'm starting my job as a therapist in the next couple of weeks. I have been in an amazing relationship with my boyfriend of 3 years (marriage soon one day maybe??).
That being said, I have kept up with the new Shugo Chara Jewel Joker manga that recently got released and got hit with a wave of nostalgia. Shugo Chara has always been my sweet spot that has a special place in my heart. It was the first anime and manga I ever found on my own (Fruits Basket was introduced to me a couple years prior by a friend). It was what really got me into anime and manga. This sequel being released has been something to look forward to every month. I thought engaging with this account again may be a great outlet for me, especially since I am about to start a very stressful, emotionally draining job soon.
I am not sure if many of my followers on here are still active, but I would love to have a place where conversation about the sequel and of course the OG Shugo Chara anime/manga can be held. My activity on this account may be irregular because of my career and other responsibilities, but I will try my best to be active on here (if anyone cares, lol).

Shugo Chara is getting a sequel manga in the year of our lord 2024 and OH BOY I can already sense the discourse coming.
I thought Yashahime taught Japan the painful lesson that rebooting 2000s anime in this day and age is a terrible idea unless you completely neuter everything about it that made it interesting like Clear Card did to CCS. I guess that just means they don’t give a damn about western puriteens.
I already remember a lot of the dialogues in SC not aging well EVEN by 2000s standards but people overlooked it because back then they could distinguish fiction and reality. Amuto was already seen as sus back then (the anime toned it down considerably) but once again everyone overlooked it. And don’t even get me started on what’s going to happen to Nagiho/Nadeshiko…
So this means one of two things - the SC reboot is going to be completely neutered like the CCS reboot, OR the western fans are going to go berserk again like they did with Yashahime. Either way we are screwed.
