❥ preachers daughter— r.c
Rafe wasn’t sure when his obsession with her started, all he knew was that he wanted her, wanted to ruin her.
He remembers the first time he had ever saw her, it was an early Sunday morning, his father had decided to drag him to Sunday morning service, something Rafe had never imagined himself going to…
… But man, was he glad he did.
He remembered every small detail about her from that morning. She was wearing a long green, floral dress that fell well past her knees, she had a white sweater pulled over her upper half, and a pair of beige strappy heels. Her hair had been done in loose curls, a soft white bow tying it up into a low ponytail, making Rafe blush at the innocence that emitted from her.
The smile that graced her beautiful lips had made Rafe grow painfully hard, having to excuse himself to the restroom to readjust himself.
Rafe had pushed her into the back of his mind though, knowing that a woman like her would never be with a man like him.
She was his polar opposite; pure, kind, without any obvious flaws. Whereas Rafe was impure, violent, and covered in issues from head to toe.. You could thank his father for that.
Rafe knew he didn’t stand a chance, so why, and when, did his obsession with her begin? Why had he caught himself following her around town, watching her every move? Why had he found a way to place a tracking device on her car, his possessive need to know where she was at all times pushing him to do such a crazy thing.
Why had he found himself beating the shit out of any man he’d seen talk to her? Why did he care so much? She didn’t even know he existed, yet, he found himself quite literally stalking her, obsessing over her, vowing to himself that he would protect her at any and all cost.
-
Rafe had continued following her for months before he had finally decided to make his move on her. He’d quickly picked up on her schedule, learned all of her favorite places to shop, eat, where she loved to do her Bible studies.
After six months of constantly following her and learning all he needed to know about her, he had decided it was finally time for him to make his move, make her his.
He was parked outside of the small coffee shop she frequented regularly, watching as she sat at a table, flipping through the pages of her notebook, taking small sips of her coffee order.
He loved that she was completely oblivious of the man who had been watching her for months, in his mind it proved that she did need him in her life, she needed him to take care of her, protect her, teach her to be more aware of her surroundings.
Rafe’s head snaps up when he sees her stand from her spot, gathering her books and pens, pushing her chair in and making her way to the front door.
He quickly hops from his truck, rushing across the street, his plan to make a move being set in motion.
She pushes the door to the coffee shop open, her head hung low as she stepped through the threshold, making it easy for Rafe to step in her way, lightly bumping her and causing her head to snap up.
“Oh, i’m so sorry, I wasn’t paying attention”
Her face is flushed red, her voice soft, angelic.
The corners of Rafe’s lips quirk up slightly, a small smile on his face as he looks down at her small figure.
“Not a problem, I should have said something. I’m Rafe, and you are?”
He extends his hand out for her to take, to which she quickly complies, placing her small hand in his.
He places a soft kiss to the back of her hand, her breath catching in her throat at the action. She wasn’t sure what to think of the man in front of her, she’d never been greeted like that by anyone.
“I-I’m Y/N. Y/N Y/L/N. It’s nice to meet you, Rafe”
“Y/L/N? As in Pastor Y/L/N?” Rafe asks, his eyebrow quirked up as he played his part well.
She smiles, her eyes sparkling at the mention of her father. He attends her church? Why had she never seen him before now?
“Yeah, that’s my dad! You go to our church?”
Rafe chuckles, an amused smirk laid on his lips, “Yeah, sometimes. My dad started making me go a few months ago, i’m surprised we haven’t run into each other before now”
He feels himself growing painfully hard when he hears the angelic laugh that falls from her pretty mouth, her eyes lit up as she carefully pushes a strand of hair behind her ear.
“Church not really your thing?” She asks, her lower lip brought between her teeth as she smiled up at him.
“Not really, but hey, your father sure knows how to get you into it huh?”
She shifts herself on her feet, readjusting her books in her hands, “Yeah he’s great, he loves what he does”
Rafe notices the large books in her arms, how she continues to shift and adjust them. “Want me to grab those for you?”
She glances down at the books in her arms, and back up at Rafe, his bright blue eyes making butterflies erupt in her stomach, “Uh, sure. Thanks” She smiles, handing him the books and looking toward the ground.
“You wanna ride home?”
She pauses for a moment, her mind drawing a blank as her palms became clammy. Why she was so nervous? She wasn’t sure. Maybe it was because he was making her feel things she knew was wrong, maybe it was because she knew better than to get involved with a man without her father’s permission, but something about him made her want to take the risk, break her own rules.
“Sure, that’d be nice. Thank you”
And just like that, Rafe’s plan was falling into place. He had gotten her attention, gotten her to trust him so easily. He loved how naïve she was, how innocent she was, and as much as he’d love to take it slow with her, he felt he’d taken it slow enough, waiting, watching, protecting her for months, even if she didn’t know it.
He had to have a taste of her, had to break her of her innocence, and he needed to do it now. He needed her to be his, and only his.
-
Everything had began moving quickly, Rafe had driven her to his house instead of hers, his lips finding hers in an instant, pulling her from the passenger seat and into his lap.
She was unconsciously grinding herself over his bulge, her hands running over his buzzed hair, his hands tightly gripping at her hips as his tongue explored her mouth.
Her breathing was ragged, hands trembling as she continued pressing herself into him. She wasn’t sure what she was doing or why, it was wrong, so wrong, but it felt so right.
“Rafe” she tries to speak, her words being swallowed by him. He presses his hand flat against her lower back, pushing her further into him as he continues his assault on her mouth.
She plants her palms on his chest, pushing herself back, her back pressed firmly against his steering wheel.
She runs a hand through her hair, her eyes slightly welled up with tears as she tries to calm her breathing.
“This- This is wrong. We don’t even know each other, we- I’m not supposed to have sex until I’m married, I can’t- We can’t-“
Rafe shushes her softly, his thumb running across her bottom lip as his blue eyes burn into her, “Shh, Shh. It’s okay, angel. There’s nothing wrong with this, trust me?”
She sighs, resting her head on his chest, the tears that had fallen from her eyes soaking the fabric of his shirt.
“I-I trust you, but- But this isn’t right, Rafe”
Rafe runs his hand down her side, placing it on her clothed thigh and squeezing lightly, pulling a small squeal from her lips.
“What isn’t right about it? I can teach you things, make you feel things, I promise you’ll love it”
Rafe had his mind set, he was prepared to break her, and he didn’t want to wait any longer. He knew a girl like her, so innocent, so naïve, was bound to break under the pressure.
He could tell she was curious, curious as to what it felt like to be touched by a man, to give her full self to someone, and he wanted to be that person, he needed to be that person.
He was in too deep with her, too obsessed with her. The way she looked, how angelic her voice was, the way she looked wearing clothes that hid even the most innocent parts of her body from the world. He needed her to be his, she would be his.
“C’mon sweetheart, let’s go upstairs, and I promise i’ll take good care of you. Do you trust me?”
She brings her bottom lip between her teeth, an action that was so innocent to her, but it drove Rafe crazy. He could feel the blood rush to his cock, making him grow uncomfortably hard beneath the fabric of his jeans.
She gasped when she felt his hard-on pressed into her thigh, an amused smirk playing at Rafe’s lips. “You feel that? That’s what you do to me, you’re so beautiful, let me show you just how beautiful you are. You deserve to be touched, to be made feel good. Don’t you want that?”
A simple “okay” was all she could manage to breathe out, her breath hitching in her throat when she felt him place his hands on her ass, gripping at it tightly.
“Okay what sweetheart? I need you to tell me what you want”
“I-I want you to touch me” She says softly, her voice so low it was almost a whisper, but Rafe had heard her clearly.
He quickly shoves his car door open, his free hand gripping tightly below her ass, keeping her tightly wrapped around his torso.
He gently sets her down onto her feet, shutting the truck door and grabbing her hand, pulling her to the front door of his house.
Rafe wastes no time, pulling her inside and locking the front door and dragging her to the spiral staircase that led upstairs.
Once they reached the top he pulls her into his room, shutting and locking the door. His lips instantly find hers again, the feeling of her lips against his pulling a groan from him. Her lips felt like home to him, warm, and safe- Something Rafe had never felt in his entire life.
He wraps his arms around her waist, his lips consuming hers as he pushes her back flush into his bedroom wall. He runs a hand up her side, his fingers pushing the hem of her shirt up, exposing just the slightest bit of flesh to him. He lightly grazes his fingers up the length of her side, his fingertips finding her bra.
He unclasps it in record time, running a hand up her arm and sliding one strap down her shoulder, moving to the other side and copying his actions until the flimsy fabric fell down her chest and onto his bedroom floor.
He pulls his lips from hers, his deep blue gaze on her face. He burns the image of her current state into his mind, her lips swollen and slightly parted, her chest heaving up and down as she tries to steady her breathing. He loved that he was the one who’d made her like this, loved that he was the one who had her craving more of his touch.
“You wanna take your shirt off princess?” He asks her softly, his thumb swiping across her bottom lip, his other arm still tightly wrapped around her waist.
“Y-Yes”
Rafe grins, pulling his arm from her waist and watching as she brings her hands down to the hem of her shirt, pulling it up and over her head, tossing it to the floor. Her cheeks instantly turn a bright shade of pink, her arms flying across her chest to cover herself from him.
He lifts his hands, placing them gently on her arms and pulling them down. “No don’t hide princess, you want me to see you. And you’re so beautiful”
She nods her head slowly, letting her arms fall to her sides. She felt her entire body heat up under Rafe’s stare, his eyes erratically scanning across her chest.
He swipes his tongue across his bottom lip, bringing his hands up to softly cup her bare breasts in his palms.
“Such a pretty girl, aren’t you?”
He begins softly massaging her breasts in his hands, his fingers finding her nipples, pinching and pulling at them. He loved the expression that took over her face when he began playing with her sensitive buds, her lips parted, eyes squeezed shut as she panted.
“Doesn’t that feel good, baby?”
“Y-Yes. Feels- Feels so good, Rafe”
Rafe hums in appreciation, dipping his head down to lick a stripe across both her breasts. She gasps loudly, her head falling back against the wall when he wraps his lips around one of the buds, sucking on it lightly before switching to the other side.
Her hands fly to the back of his head, nails lightly scratching through his buzzed hair. She lets soft moans fall from her lips, and Rafe swore he’d never heard anything so beautiful, so angelic. She was going to be the death of him.
He lets his hands fall, finding her waist and lightly tapping at her thigh, “Jump” he instructs, and she’s quick to obey, straddling him instantly.
Rafe carries her to his bed, letting her fall onto the soft mattress with a soft thud.
He climbs himself on top of her, his arms caging her into the bed. He steadies himself with one hand flat on the mattress, his free hand running up her side, a trail of goosebumps left behind on her skin from his fingertips. He cups her cheek softly, lightly rubbing his thumb across it.
“You want me to take your jeans off? Make you feel good?” Rafe asks, but he gives her no time to answer, his hand being removed from her cheek and finding the button on her jeans.
He swiftly undoes the button, pulling her zipper down slowly before he begins sliding the denim fabric down her legs.
Rafe sucks in a sharp breath when he sees her lacy white panties, an innocent girl like her wearing something like this?
“Fuck”
She blushes at his vulgar words, her breathing shaky as his fingers play with the waistband of her panties.
She lets out a shaky breath when his fingers push down into the front of her underwear, his fingers brushing against her clit, making her hips buck forward from the sensation.
“Rafe” She breathes out, her fingers tightly gripping at his bedding.
“You okay sweetheart?”
“We- We shouldn’t, oh!”
She tries to protest, tries to keep her faith and do as she knows she’s supposed to, but Rafe wasn’t having it. He runs his middle finger through her slick folds, pulling his hand from inside her panties and shoving the digit in his mouth.
He hums in appreciation, the taste of her on his tongue making the blood rush to his already painfully hard and throbbing cock.
“You’re so wet, so sweet. You know this is what you want, isn’t it baby?”
She feels the tears welling up in her eyes, letting a few stray tears fall. Did she want this? She didn’t understand what she was feeling, why she was aroused. She’d never felt like this before. Rafe had her mind racing, she did want this, she knew it was wrong, knew her father would be so disappointed in her, but why deny herself of this feeling when it felt right? Felt good.
She nods her head in response, pulling a small smile from Rafe’s lips. He tugs at her panties, pulling them down her legs and shoving them into the back pocket of his jeans.
He cups her bare cunt, his palm pressing firmly against her clit, making her whimper and squirm beneath his touch.
“You can move baby, make yourself feel good”
She whimpers, moving her hips and grinding herself against his hand. Rafe takes his free hand, his ringed fingers pressing into her thigh as he held her open for him. He removes his hand from her pussy, running a finger through her slick again, gathering her arousal on the digit before he slowly pushes it into her.
“Oh, Oh God!” She cries out, her back arching off the bed, pushing his finger further into her.
“God isn’t here sweetheart, it’s just you and me”
He begins slowly pushing his finger in and out of her soaked core, her velvety walls clenching around his finger. He curls his finger, hitting a spot inside her that had her toes curling.
“I-I, Oh Rafe”
Rafe smirks, adding another finger inside her. He quickens his pace, pushing them in and out harshly. She’s a whimpering mess, her orgasm so close he could feel it from how she was clenching around him.
“You can cum, it’s okay sweetheart, let it out”
She feels a burn between her legs, her belly growing tight as a feeling she’d never felt washes over her. She’s trembling beneath him, legs shaking, fists tightly wrapped around the fabric of his blanket as Rafe helped fuck her through her high.
When he pulls his fingers from her she lets out a small whimper, her body laying limp on his mattress, chest heaving up and down as she comes down from her orgasm.
“See that wasn’t so bad was it?” Rafe asks.
She sucks in a shaky breath, shaking her head. “N-No. Not bad. I’ve never… You know..”
Rafe quirks an eyebrow up at her, that damned amused smirk on his lips. “You’ve never had an orgasm before? I knew that sweetheart”
She hides her face in her hands, body heating up from embarrassment.
Rafe’s hands fly to hers, slowly pulling them down, his free hand rubbing softly across her cheek.
“Don’t hide, it’s okay. I want to teach you, I want you to feel comfortable with me, don’t you feel comfortable with me baby?”
She lets out a deep sigh, “Yes, I-I’m comfortable”
He grins, satisfied that he’d gotten her comfortable with him. He sits himself up on his knees, undoing his belt and tossing it to the floor.
“Do you wanna make me feel good sweet girl?”
She bites at her bottom lip, watching as he undoes the button on his pants followed by his zipper, the fabric sliding down his legs and leaving him in nothing but his underwear and his polo.
“Yes, I wanna make you feel good, teach me?”
Rafe brings his hand up to cup her cheek, his thumb sliding across her bottom lip, sliding the digit past her parted lips.
She wraps her lips around his thumb, giving it a light suck, a raspy groan falling from Rafe at the feeling.
“Fuck you’re so beautiful, gonna be such a good girl f’me, make me feel good, yeah?”
He pulls his thumb from her lips, sliding his briefs down his legs, his erection springing free and slapping just below his belly button. He notices the wide eyed expression on her face, her lips parted in a small ‘o’ as she stared at him.
“It’s okay baby, don’t be scared”
Rafe firmly grasps at his cock, pumping at it slowly, his free hand coming to the back of her head as he helped guide her down. “Put your lips on it baby, I got you”
She does as he says, her lips wrapping around the head first lightly sucking at his swollen tip. Rafe’s grip tightens in her hair, his hips bucking forward.
“Good girl, swirl your tongue around it a little, pretend it’s a popsicle or a lollipop”
She obeys, swirling her tongue around him, the precum that leaked from his tip making its way onto her tongue. She hums around him, the salty taste making her grow wet again.
Rafe slowly pushes himself further into her mouth, his breathing erratic as she takes him fully.
Her teeth graze at his shaft, making him jump back from the pain. “No teeth baby, hollow your cheeks and just move your head up and down slowly”
Her cheeks hollow, her head moving slowly up and down his length, small gags and whimpers falling from her with each push and pull, his head hitting the back of her throat with each push.
Rafe inhales deeply through his nose, his head thrown back in pleasure as she continues to suck and lick every last inch of him.
“Such a good fucking girl”
She feels herself grow wet from his praise, the ache between her thighs back, the craving for more of his touch growing with each passing second.
He tightly grips her hair when he feels himself twitching inside her mouth, pulling her off of him, her cheeks and chin stained with drool.
“Wanna cum inside you, do you want that? Want me to fill your pretty pussy up with my cum?”
She nods her head slowly, laying herself back and spreading her legs for him.
Rafe smiles widely, the innocence that once radiated from her now gone, and all because of him.
He pulls his polo over his head, discarding it on the floor and leaning himself down. He uses one hand to steady himself up, his other hand pumping at his cock and lining himself with her slick entrance.
“Gonna go slow okay? If it hurts, let me know and i’ll let you take a minute to breathe”
She opens her mouth to speak but nothing comes out except a small whine, the feel of his fat head pushing into her small hole sending a burn through her legs.
Rafe softly shushes her, “Shhh, it’s okay i’m gonna take care of you, alright?”
She blinks away her tears, nodding her head and sucking in a sharp breath. Rafe slowly pushes himself in more, using one hand to lightly stroke her cheek, trying to help her calm her breathing.
He pushes himself inside her fully, stilling his movements and trying to let her adjust to his size. She lets out a soft breath, her hands flying to his shoulders, fingernails digging into the flesh.
“Can I move princess?”
“Yes, please”
Rafe begins to slowly thrust himself inside her, small moans and whimpers falling from her as she begins to rock her hips with his.
“You’re doing so good, my good girl”
She’s a whining mess, the pain replaced with pleasure making her toes curl, her head thrown back into the pillows as she focuses on the feel of each push and pull Rafe makes.
“Not gonna last long with you squeezin’ me like that sweetheart, you feel yourself squeezin’ me? Your pussy begging to be filled with my cum”
She lets out a whine, her bottom lip harshly brought between her teeth as she felt her second orgasm approaching.
“I-I think i’m close” she cries out, her hips bucking up and meeting each of his thrusts.
“Let go for me angel, i’m right behind you”
She clamps down around him, squeezing him tightly and sucking him further into her. His head repeatedly hits at her sweet spot, making her a whimpering, moaning mess.
“Gonna fill you up, give you my babies, don’t you want that baby?”
“Yes! Want you babies, wanna be a mama, please please”
She screams out a moan, her release bursting from her. She was trembling, tears staining her cheeks as Rafe fucked her through her high.
Rafe feels his thrusts grow sloppy, his hips stuttering as he twitches inside her. He pushes himself to the hilt, stilling inside her as the hot ropes of his release spill inside of her.
He lets his head dip down, his face falling into the crook of her neck, his lips attacking the skin with hot kisses.
He pulls himself from inside her, rolling onto his side and wrapping his arms around her. He pulls her further into his body, snuggling further into her and breathing in her scent.
“I’m so happy you’re mine now, all mine”
She smiles softly, her eyes drooping as she begins to breathe softly, sleep taking over her.
She wasn’t sure what she would tell her father, or how this would change her life, but she didn’t care. All that mattered to her now was the man who had just completely changed her life, and how she was his, and he was hers.

------------------------------------------------
wednesday
the aroma of fresh coffee and pastries hit matt as soon as he walked into the small shop he'd visit frequently. as he stood in line, he examined the room for any open tables he could sit at. he spotted one next to a girl who seemed to be studying. that's the spot, it looks like she's not the type of person to try and make small talk- he had sat to a couple of those people.
hi, can i get a medium caramel iced coffee and a vanilla scone. he rehearsed the order to himself. as he got closer to the register, he kept looking over to the table he wanted to sit at- the girl sitting at the table next to him looked up and locked eyes with him. matt being matt- he looked away as he felt the blush begin to creep up his face. she was pretty- really pretty.
"next in line!" the cashier said. matt gasped and hurried forward. "hello, how are you today." the cashier fixed her hat. "oh- uhm- i'm good today. how are you?" he didn't rehearse this. "i'm good- thank you. what can i get for you today?" she did something on the screen in front of her.
"can i get a- uh- medium caramel iced coffee and a vanilla scone." he fiddled with the debit card in his hand. "unfortunately we sold our last vanilla scone a little while ago." the cashier informed him. matt bit the inside of his cheek.
"do you have a chocolate croissant?" he asked. "yeah, we do." she nods. "i'll take one." one he finished paying, he went and took a seat at the table he had his eyes on. the girl looked up at him and smiled before looking back at her laptop. he scrolled on his phone as he waited for his ordered. from the corner of his eye, he saw the vanilla scone next to her drink.
she must've gotten the last one.
"order for matt!" the barista called out. matt stood up from his chair and walked over to her his drink and pastry. matt went back to his table and glanced over at the girl sitting next to him. she was so focused on whatever was on her screen. he saw how she had a small pout, a slight furrow in her eyebrows, and would occasionally bite her bottom lip.
stop it! she'll think you're weird! he thought and immediately looked away, taking a sip of his drink. as he continued to scroll on his phone and finish his drink and croissant he couldn't help but keep stealing glances.
soon, the girl packed up her belongings and left the cafe. matt frowned. he'll get her next time.
the following days (thursday, friday, monday, tuesday)
the next day, matt returned in hopes to see her again. when he walked in, his eyes scanned the tables, but she wasn't sitting in any of them. he ordered his usual- scone included- and sat down. anytime the door bell chimed open, he looked up, unfortunately she never walked in. on friday- he did the same. matt waited all weekend since the shop was closed to return on monday. on monday and tuesday, there was no sight of her. he was afraid he'd never see her again.
next week wednesday
it was exactly a week later since matt first laid eyes on her. he went back to the coffee shop, only this time he didn't go in hopes of seeing her. he knew he'd never see her again.
"hello, i'll have a- uhm- medium caramel iced coffee and your last two vanilla scones, please." he paid and sat down in his normal table. as he was on his phone- the door chimed opens and out of habit, he looked up. it was her. she walked in with a smile, fixing her tote bag on her shoulder removing her headphones from her ears as she ordered.
although her and the cashiers voices were muffled- he understood what she ordered: a small brown sugar cookie iced coffee and a scone. he had realized he had ordered the last two scones. when his order came out, he picked it up at the counter and went back to his table and sure enough- she was sitting in the table next to his.
he gave her a small smile and sat down mixing his iced coffee with the straw. a few minutes later her iced coffee was ready. she sat back down and took a few sips before returning back to her computer screen.
do it, matt. "did you- uh- did you want a scone?" he asked- even he was surprised by his own voice. "huh?" she didn't quite hear him at first. "a scone- i bought an extra one." he held up the extra scone in the bag. "oh- uhm- are you sure?" a slight blush creeped up on her face- and soon enough he felt his face warming up. "mhm- here you go." he handed it to her.
"thank you.." she waited for his name. "matthew, but you can call me matt- or- or matthew doesn't really matter." she giggled at his nervousness. "thank you, matt. i'm y/n." she smiled, looking away for a split second- the eye contact had gotten a bit too much for her and her face was so hot she was sure it was bright red by now. "you're welcome, y/n." her name rolled off of his tongue easily. the two have each other a smile and turned away from each other.
they both stole glances here and there. until a couple of minutes later when she was starting to pack up, matt had a mental battle with himself. what if she had a boyfriend? even worse- what if she rejects him? or what if he can't even get the sentence out? he sighed to himself. this might be the last time he'll see her.
"hey- uh- y/n." her head whipped from her bag to him. "yeah?" her voice came out soft. she liked this- the attention she was receiving from matt. y/n had always heard from her friends that the boys that went up to them were usually pervs and only wanted one thing. although she was a bit skeptical at first when he offered her his scone. he didn't bother her in a way that made her uncomfortable.
"can i- can i get you number? if that's okay with you, obviously. i- uh- i think you're really pretty. i would love to get to know you." his face beet red- he had obviously never done this before. as soon as those words hit her ears, she blushed. "oh! uhm- sure, yeah- mhm." she nodded, trying to hide her smile had was forming. matt's eyes slightly widen at the face that she had said yes.
"cool- i- uh- here's my phone." he grabs his phone from the table and he unlocks it and goes into the keypad so she can type her number in. "here you go. i'll hear from you soon?" y/n hands his phone back and fixes her bag on her shoulder. "yeah- of- of course! it was nice talking to you."
they soon parted ways.

you were nervous for your first day of work, worrying teeth leaving your lips red and sore. when you applied you thought it would be easy money, slow shifts where you could study at the register, the coffee shop attached giving you one free drink a shift. it was perfect but your anxiety was eating at you the entire walk to the bookstore. even the location was perfect, three minutes on your bike, a few more to walk. you didn’t even need to pick up new clothes, your usual attire fully excitable as long as you had your nametag visible.
the store won't open for another hour but you need to come in early to go over the basics. Your boss told you that although he wasn't going to be there his best employee would show you the ropes. When you get to the building the door is locked and you have to knock on the glass to try and get someone's attention but you can't see anyone from where you are. When someone does notice you you're pacing the sidewalk picking at your nail polish. “so sorry about that i forgot you were coming in early today,” the accented voice mutters, the ding of the bell making you turn around.
“It's okay,” you nod after a second. The man before you smiles, dimples and teeth on display, devastating enough to take someone out with a single glance. He holds the door open with his palm spread wide, still standing in the doorway so that when you pass you have to brush against his chest with your shoulder.
“I'm Chan, I work at the cafe most days now but I was told you would be working the store register and stocking?”
“Yes that's right,” you nod, taking in the small store, the dark hardwood floors creaking underfoot as you move further in. You had loved the store since your freshman year of college. The cafe at night was one of the only places that sold caffeine until late, the warm ambient lighting making it cozy. Even now with the morning light pouring in through the floor to ceiling glass windows, it was comforting, the smell of the freshly brewing pots of coffee waking you up.
“Great, I worked that job for a while so I should be the best help with setting you up,” Chan pulls the door closed behind you, locking back up. He moves around you waving to follow after him to the back room. To get there we have to weave through the stands of books laid out on tables and stacked on shelves and you feel in over your head looking at all the inventory. “for the most part it's mostly register work. When we get a new release it goes out on the front tables and then the old ones get pushed back to the shelves. nothing too major. I'm sure once you get a hang of it you will be very bored,”
“It's okay I brought homework,” you say, lifting your tote at your side.
“ahh, good idea. and if you get bored of homework you could come mess with me at the cafe, I'm always trying to come up with new drinks although I've been told by the other baristas that I'm not very good at that,” he chuckles deep in his throat before turning a corner and pushing open another door. “break room and the cubbies for your stuff. I haven't had anything stolen but if you're worried the front has enough space under the counter for your bag or even if you want to have easy access to your books that's fine too,” he gestures at a desk in the corner, “you clock in and out there, I'm sure you were told how to set up your checks to be deposited?”
“Yes,” you nod trying to pay attention to all the information.
“Okay great so let's get your name tag I think it's…oh here! there you go,” he passes you the little magnetic tag for you to put on. you glance at his name tag, the koala sticker faded but still cute. “Then let's see the register and go over that before we open the store, it's a Monday so we are usually really slow so during your shift we can walk around and go over the sections but the computer will tell you where to find most any book here. there is also a map taped to the counter to help customers so you can see that to help you,”
“got it, thank you,” you follow Chan out and the rest of the hour goes by with him cracking jokes and pointing out what shelves hold what books. When it was time for the doors to be unlocked it was anticlimactic because you only went back to having no one in the shop but the two of you. chan sitting on the stool behind his register for the cafe and you sitting on yours directly across the room. Chan had a book propped up to pass the time and you got started on your homework. your nerves are now officially gone with how calm it was going.
Even when customers did come in, you breezed through it, Chan's watchful eye not prying but comforting enough to know he would swoop in and help if it was ever necessary.
When another slow lull came and there were no customers Chan called across the short distance to ask you your coffee order, “I may be bad at coming up with new drinks but that doesn't mean I don't make mean drinks to begin with,” that dimpled smile hitting you right in the stomach.
“surprise me I'm okay with anything when it's free,”
“best perk about the job,” he agrees, turning to make you your drink. When he is done he brings it over to the register a small grin on his face as he passes the warm drink over. “go on try it,”
you take a sip humming your approval, “Oh wow that's really good,” there was no lid on the paper cup to show off his latte art, the heart feathering out to where your lipstick stain hugs the rim. you wipe at the corner of your mouth catching the stray foam on your thumb and licking it off.
chan is stuck watching your every move, all day he's been finding it hard to concentrate on anything he's doing. he was trying to play it cool even after your introduction, but he was caught the moment you turned around when he opened the door, your perfume making him want to lean in when you brushed past him. It didn't help that he was right across from you all day, the perfect seat for him to make sure you weren't struggling although that was an excuse because he knew how easy the job was he just wanted to watch you.
Now you're basically moaning over something he made and he feels bad for having any thoughts about you. then you swipe at your lip, thumb in your mouth, how is he supposed to think about anything else?
“cinnamon and apple?” you ask your gaze so attentive.
“warm and cozy,” Chan smiles watching as you take another sip that hum caught right in the back of your throat and he wishes he could swallow the sound himself. but the jingling of the bell by the door jolts him back to reality. “let me get back,”
“Thank you!” you call after him while the customers make their way through the shelves. Chan waves your words away,“Anytime,”
later when both of your replacements come in for their shift Chan helps show you how to clock out and where you can find your schedule. “looks like we have morning shifts together,” he comments, “I'll have to give you my number so when you get to the door I can let you in,” it's an excuse really he could leave the door unlocked after he gets in, no one ever tries to come in that early anyways most of their customers come to study after class.
“sure that works perfectly,” you smile unlocking your phone and passing it over, he does the same and you type your number in for him.
“best barista?” you laugh when you see the name he plugged in.
“Seungmin might not like that but who cares,” he chuckles, “best AM barista might be better,”
you both walk out together and you notice you're headed in the same direction, “do you live over on Sixth?”
“yeah, do you?”
“the first apartment building on the corner,”
“Me too!” The two of you were a few steps away from each other and Chan took the opportunity to catch up. “official walking buddies now? can't change fate,”
“yeah okay,” you laugh, falling into step next to him.
“The boss said you were in school, the campus right up the road?”
“yeah, I have a lab at five actually,”
“The shop is the perfect job for you then, my classes are also kinda late in the day so I get it,” he ruffled his hair and pushed back the strands from his forehead only to have them fall right back into place. The two of you make comfortable conversation until you make it to the lobby of your apartment building, Chan holding the door open for you before you press the elevator button.
when you two make it into the elevator you ask him, “What floor?” as you press your own button.
The space is small and he leans over to see the button panel, body heat, and his colleague filling the space. and you didn't mind it at all, he smelled like a mix of baked goods and sandalwood. “looks like we live on the same floor,” he chuckles, pulling back to stand straight. both of you are silent eyes trained ahead as you mutter, “Small world I guess,”
“Very,” he nods, chewing on the corner of his bottom lip. When the elevator dings and opens you wave goodbye as you both move down the opposite halls. He was about three doors down and when he got his key in he looked up with a smile waving before walking in. When you close the door to your apartment you lean against the door letting out the longestsigh you could muster. of course, your hot coworker shares your schedule and lives right down the hall. of fucking course.

The following morning you're tugging on your coat, pulling the door closed and your tote bag keeps sliding down your shoulder. You're muttering profanities quite enough as you try to get the key into the lock when you don't hear Chan approach. you flinch so hard you think your heart stopped. “You scared me!” and Chan's giggling reached out for your tote bag pulling it from the crook of your arm where it kept falling.
“I'm sorry I thought you heard me say good morning,” he slings your bag over your shoulder as you finally lock the door.“I was running a bit late so I thought why not just wait anyways since we are headed to the same place?” he's a little shy as he says it following you to the elevator, “although I know that defeats the purpose of giving you my number but you know thought that counts and everything right?” he's rambling his grip on the tote bag strap turning white-knuckled, his free hands at the back of his neck messing with his hair.
“That works perfectly with me and I can carry my own bag,” the elevator dings as you say it and Chan shakes his head stepping in before you holding his hand out so the doors stay open.
“I don't know how you carry this thing around its like a bag of rocks it's so heavy,”
“textbooks,” you correct, leaning over him to press the lobby button. “although you're right I should get a better bag to carry them around but that one is so cute,” you run your fingers over the design that made you buy the tote in the first place, “everything is worth the struggle as long as its cute,”
“agreed,” Chan nods, watching your fingers run up and down the fabric, your nails painted the prettiest shade of blue and he has to swallow to push away his thoughts of you wrapping your hand around him. but the image won't fade so he shakes his head trying to think of all the things he needs to do to set up for the day.
He holds the door open for you the same way he had your first day, letting you brush past him only this time he's following you to clock in watching your hips sway in your skirt all the way to the break room. and when the day starts to go by he tries not to look your way as you press your pen to your lips every once in a while jotting down notes in the margins on sticky notes. watching you smile up at customers and helping them.
chan brings you a coffee halfway through your shift when it is slow, this time it is sweet with caramel, “oh wow definitely best AM barista material,” you nod licking the whipped cream from your top lip. he flushes a deep red chuckling, “its nothing,” but he was starting to realize he would learn any drink combo to hear that hum over and over again.
and when you're walking home together you laugh at his dad jokes making his heart flutter, he already can't wait until tomorrow to see you.

You've been working at the store for about a month, and your routine is always the same. Chan waits by the elevator for you to walk, he makes you a new drink halfway through your shift, walks you back and you do it all over the next day. you realize it's the best part of your day and when you have the day off you're stuck wondering what Chan's doing, if he's wondering the same thing about you. it's late on one of your off days when he texts you, do you smell that or is that just my side of the hallway? and you know exactly what he's talking about.
someone was cooking dinner in their apartment and the savory smell was wafting through from under the door making you hungry.
definitely smelling something good if that's what you're asking
I think it's the people in front of me. Would it be wrong to show up with a bowl and ask for some?
not if you ask really really nicely I'm sure they will cough some up
no, I'm too shy if they reject me I won't be able to ever leave my place again
I'll bring my own bowl they can't turn away both of us if we beg
seriously tho are you hungry because I'm starving and Seungmin texted me the cafe specials menu
You're sure Chan would be able to hear you squeal all the way in his apartment. It wasn't a full-on offer out but it was close enough and your fragile little heart was consumed with its crush on Chan. he had you kicking your feet like a school girl and you couldn't help but smile.
The best PM barista does make a mean sandwich
be ready in 5?
if he didn't hear you before the whole floor definitely did now. you jumped up from your couch to get ready. Maybe it was nothing, just two friends, coworkers, even going out, to your place of work, for a casual dinner. only you could tell yourself that all you wanted but it didn't stop your excitement. sure you saw Chan nearly every day but not usually when you weren't already scheduled to see each other. only once when you were both crossing paths in the lobby and that didn't count because you were late to class and rushing and he was with a friend, but that didn't stop the butterflies you felt when he gave you a wave and smile as you passed.
You were ready in five minutes pulling your door closed to find Chan leaning against the wall with his hands in his pockets, a dark jean jacket over a hoodie, his jeans fitting him just right. “ready?” he asked, pulling himself up to his full height.
“yup,” it's a squeak as you say it, your cheeks colored in embarrassment. He was wearing a beanie with his ears peeking out from under the fabric. When you stepped outside you realized how cool it was outside, your thin sweater doing you no good.
Chan holds the door open for you to lead the way, your arms crossed before you feel the heavy weight of his jean jacket slung on your shoulders. “You look a little cold there,” he smiles and you push your arms through the warm sleeves. it smells like him without the coffee scent usually following him after a shift.
“thank you,” your fists wrapping around the oversized sleeves.
When you make it to the cafe it's filled with light chatter, the golden glow from the lamps making the hardwood look shiny as you both stand in line for the cafe. your other coworkers behind the counters joking around as they make drinks and call out orders. You have gotten to know most of them when you have an occasional late shift but not as well as you got to know Chan. That was mainly because you two didn't have many customers in the morning time and you could talk even across the store without worrying about someone listening or scolding us. The night shifts were busy and most of the time a little loud.
When you make it to the counter seungmin's warm smile greets you, “I know you,” he points but you can't miss the way his gaze falls to the jacket you're wearing and back to Chan his eyebrows raising but he doesn't ask.
“We are here because I heard Chan's trying to come for your title of best barista,”
“he can't make a coffee to save his life,”
“Hey! I make excellent coffee,”
“Because I taught you,” the smug smile on Seungmin's face made his cheeks round. “what can I get you two?”
You both order reaching for your bag when you feel Chan's hand in the pocket of the jacket you are wearing. He is standing behind you, one hand on your arm and the other wrapped around to pull his wallet from where it's at your hip. “I got it,” he mumbles so close to your ear you almost shiver. “you can get it next time,”
you give a slow nod trying to catch your breath before Seungmin asks, “Hey are you two coming out with us tomorrow night? they opened this new club downtown we wanted to go try,”
“oh I don't know,” you shrug and Chan adds, “I'll go if you go,” he looks almost hopeful for you to say yes.
“Well then sure why not? we can Uber there together,”
“perfect i'll let the guys know,” Seungmin hands over the receipt with your order number, “should be out in a few,”
“Thank you,” you and Chan say together, moving to the other side of the counter to wait for your things. When they come out Chan takes the tray and when you think he's going to turn to one of the empty tables he keeps going over to the bookstore side. you follow after him as he weaves his way to the break room.
“kinda loud out there,” he says, setting the tray down on the little table they have set up.
“Definitely different from how we usually see the store in the morning,” you agree, pulling out a chair to sit. The break room wasn't like most other breakrooms you had been to in other jobs. this one was set up like a cozy office, the building was old and well-kept enough to make every space look cozy. the lamp in the corner of the room giving the warm glow the others made in the cafe. you take a sip of your fruity drink not picking out a coffee this late when you didn't need the aid for an all-night study session. “now this is really good,” you say nodding down at your straw.
“new menu item I haven't tried yet,” Chan sips his drink, an iced tea. “this one's good too, try it,” he slides his glass across the table toward you.
Chan watches you take your sip from his drink, the hum he loves showing itself for the second time tonight. “good?”
“Amazing, here try mine,” and so he does, nodding in approval.
the two of you chat not even noticing how late it's getting by the time you're done and taking the tray back out to the cafe. most of the building is cleared of people, seungmin wiping down the counters when you leave. It's noticeably colder outside and you wrap your arms around yourself happy to have chan’s jacket for warmth or you would have had a cold the next morning for sure. Neither of you asked if this was in fact a real date or something between friends. you don't even notice that you have taken his jacket back to your apartment until you're changing for bed and realize you never took it off.
-
The next morning when you leave for work you pass it back to Chan who smiles as he takes it back. “Thank you for that last night,” you say waving your hand as if you could cut through your embarrassment. Why was it that crushes made you feel like everything you did was so awkward? you were returning a jacket for crying out loud. It was totally normal, especially between friends but you couldn't help but blush.
for the rest of the day, you two fall into your routine. Towards the end of your shift, a customer knocks over a display of books and you assure them you will pick them up once you're done checking them out, and it's no problem at all. Once they leave you bend to get the books picked up and Chan can't look away. you're wearing a skirt, the simple black panties you're wearing flashing him every once in a while as you reach over. He doesn't even notice he's overfilled the coffee cup in front of him until the coffee splashes down to his shoes. “oh fuck,” he mutters catching your attention as you restack the books. hes red from his cheeks to his ears as he wipes up the mess. but as he pushes the black rag around he can only think about you bending over, the fabric of your underwear hugging your skin dimpling the flesh of your ass. now he's over-wiping the counter thinking about it, so lost in thought he doesn't notice you come up to stand right at the till. “guess we both are having messy days,” your voice pulling him from his thoughts and he stammers over his words, “y-yeah messy,”
but the word only fuels him, if anything was to be messy it needed to be you, he wanted too badly to make a mess of you.
“I just saw the next shift workers walk in. Are you ready to head out?”
“yes yes let me just put a lid on this, do you want anything to go?”
“No, I'm good I don't need all that caffeine before heading out for drinks tonight,” Chan had forgotten about that but now he was thinking about what you were going to wear, about what it would be like going anywhere else besides work and the apartment building with you.
When it's time to leave for drinks that night you text Chan you're ready and you book the Uber to come pick you two up.when you lock the door to your place and turn around to find Chan there you could have fallen to your knees at how downright edible he looked. those slouchy jeans showing a thin strip of the elastic to his underwear, the black tank hugging him in all the best places under his leather jacket. you wanted to hook your finger in the loop of his jeans and tug him to you and never let him go, link him to you like he was a keychain you couldn't remove easily. and his eyes were tracing up your bare legs, over the short ruffled shorts you wore, your own tank hugging you giving you the best cleavage. Chan's blush was so contradictory to his outfit and it made him so much cuter, eyes jumping to yours to not make it obvious that he was checking you out just as much as you were checking him out. “cars out front,” you say brushing past him.
at the club, Chan could not stop watching you.
you were sitting in the booth next to him and seungmin, lips around the straw of the drink in your hands, paying all your attention to Felix talking about a customer who gave him a hard time.
“he just kept asking for a blue book over and over and I could not tell you how many blue books I pulled off the shelves for him,” your giggle was more intoxicating than anything in that room.
“Did you find it?”
“no! he walked out on me and to this day I question if he was just fucking with me or not,”
The rest of the group was finally showing up and the booth was only so big. Chan rested his arm behind your head scooting until his leg was flush against yours so that the rest of them could fit comfortably. He hated how jealous he was feeling as you paid everyone more attention than he was getting. and when Hyunjin asked you to dance he could have ground his teeth to dust. “sure!” your drink is empty in front of you.
you were in the middle of the booth and Hyunjin was on the end so he stood making room for the others to move but they didn't hear the request over the sound of the music. “Just jump over,” seungmin laughed but you followed his suggestion like it was the best idea, mostly because you were a little tipsy and needed to be out of the booth after being squashed in it for over an hour. you brought your knees up to your chest before putting your hands on Chan's shoulder to push yourself up to stand on the seat. As if you were a beacon all of them turned to watch you if they weren't listening before they would be now. Chan's hand reached out to your thigh to steady you, the warmth of his palm sinking right to your stomach. there were only two people besides you to jump over and both of them leaned back as Hyunjin reached his hands out to help you. you laughed as you jumped over, hyunjin's hands on your waist helping you most of the way but the second Chan's hand was gone you wanted it back.
Hyunjin pulled you to the dance floor keeping you within the eye line of the table. the bodies of everyone pushing you and Hyunjin together until you were completely pressed with your back to his front. “Want to make Chan jealous?” his mouth pressed into your ear so that you could hear him over the music.
“What?” hyunjin's hand slid over your waist right where your tank top met the top of your shorts.
“We have a bet going that he won't last two songs until he's dragging you away from me,” Hyunjin guides your hips to grind against him and your eyes flicker to find Chan's gaze burning into you two. if looks could kill Hyunjin would be six feet deep.
“he won't fall for it,” you shake your head but not for wanting to see if it actually would work.
“want in? or do you not like him like that? because he sure as hell likes you like that I mean look at him,” and you do, the rim of his glass pressed to his bottom lip, eyes devouring you as Hyunjin's hand slips your tank up revealing a thin strip of skin. he's still with his arm slung over your empty seat, the rise and fall of his chest showing off his pecks. you raise one arm reaching behind you to tug on Hyunjin's hair and Chan follows the movement, jaw tight as he sets his glass down.
“how much if he doesn't last one song?”
“a lot more than if he doesn't last two,” Hyunjin chuckles and maybe it is the drinks talking but you nod, “Add me in, I'll Take that bet,” your free hand covers one of Hyunjin dragging it up your ribs as you let him guide your hips against his.
it doesn't take long for Chan to leave the booth at all.
Chan does not know what comes over him as he watches you with Hyunjin only that he needs to be the one touching you if anyone at all is to be doing any touching at all. Hyunjin lets you go with no question, slapping Chan on the back before making his way back to the booth. you honestly can't believe it worked as well as it did, the way that Chan didn't even last half a song let alone two. “I didn't know you felt that way about me,” your smile teases as Chan grabs your waist and pulls you into his chest as if he can erase the feeling of hyunjin on your skin.
“Seriously? The heavy staring hasn't been enough because I thought my cover was blown the first day,” his smile is lazy, the drinks hitting him in just the right way.
“first day? not just because your friends set you up?”
“nope,” his hands slide down the curve of your ass until they are cupping you, tugging your body even closer to him, he's hard in his jeans, the bulge digging into your stomach. “they definitely didn't need to try hard at all, not when I want you this bad already,”
your hands slide up his chest and round to the back of his neck, “Maybe I'm a little oblivious and I need you to tell me in great detail that you like me or I might not be privy to believing you at all,” the way that you're looking at each other is consuming, so much so that you don't realize him dipping closer until his nose is brushing against yours. eyes fluttering shut you tilt your head ready for his kiss when he stops right as they barely brush, “if you needed me to praise you all you needed to do was ask,”
“Isn't that exactly what I was doing?” you nudge your nose against his trying to reach his lips as he pulls away grinning wide, dimples on display.
“I guess you could say that,” one of his hands slid up your back to hold the base of your skull.
“You're teasing me,” your pout made Chan want to kiss you even more.
“I think they have another bet going that I can't last one song before dragging you out of here and I'm pretty sure once I get my mouth any closer to you they will be right and I'll lose out on $100,” Chan can feel you laugh against his chest, the rumble in your chest drawing him closer.
“What makes you think I'm leaving with you?” You're taunting him now, fingers running through his hair as he squeezes your ass hard enough to make your pussy lips open.
“We drove here together,” he states and you fuck with him a bit more, “but I heard Hyunjin has a car I can catch a ride in,”
Chan can't stand the sound of anyone else's name coming out of your mouth when he's this hard when you're pressed so close to him. he finally kisses you, soft lips tasting like tangy alcohol. he wants to channel the last month into this kiss, every want and glance. he can hear his friends cheering from the table but he couldn't care less not when you're here.
when you pull away you're breathless, “do you still win if I drag you out of here?”
Chan can't form words before you pull him after you, your hand fisted into his top. his tongue pressed to his cheek, his grin so wide no one could miss it even if they tried. when you walk past the table you point at them, “You own me!”
but they are all forgotten the second you're out in the cold air. you shiver, pulling out your phone to order an Uber and Chan slings his jacket over your shoulders just like the night before. The leather is warm and soft against your skin and he wraps his arms around your hands sliding past the jacket and wrapping around you. his bare arms rippling and you could bite him with how good he looks flexing right now. you don't even care that he could be getting cold when this is the view.
Chan is all over you once you climb into the Uber, “safety first,” he mutters into your mouth before he pulls your seatbelt around you to buckle. You could laugh at how cautious he is but the seatbelt doesn't stop him from trying to pull you close enough to almost be in his lap, his mouth leaving open-mouthed kisses down your neck and to your chest. never in your life have you ever spoken in an Uber let alone almost strip in the backseat but if Chan had asked you would have. and when you're in the elevator you almost forget to press what floor you're trying to make it to, chan asks if you want to go to your place or his, and your response is you pulling his keys from his front pocket fingers brushing his straining cock making him whine in your ear. “Yours,” you say into your kiss, pressing the keys to his chest before he's dragging you to his door fumbling with the key ring.
Chan pushes his jacket from your shoulders once the door is closed and locked behind him. your hands jolt out to grab both his biceps and he stops in his tracks, “do we need to slow down?” the pure concern on his face is enough to make your knees weak, “we can stop if it's too much,” you will kindly choke on him for being so worried.
“no, I want you to fuck me I just really wanted to see sturdy the handles ill be holding will be when you're in me,” your nails dig into his arms and he gives a soft whine.
“You're so fucking perfect,” it's a groan into your mouth as he wraps himself back around you walking you backward towards the bedroom. he slaps the lights on before you make contact with the bed. he breaks the kiss letting you sit, the comforter soft against your bare legs. chan gets to his knees in front of you tugging off your boots, kissing the inside of your knee, and sending a bolt right to your center. “How many times do you think I can make you cum?” He asks pulling off your socks before kissing up your thigh. He runs his hands up your calves before grabbing the back of your knees and spreading your legs.
“I don't know you might have to try really hard to get me there once,” he scoffs before nipping your inner thigh with his teeth, your knees instantly try to close but he shakes his head.
“Maybe we start our own bet, I get you to come at least three times and then you owe me another date,”
“Another one? could you remind me of the first time?”
“I haven't fucked you hard enough to forget simple things yet baby,” he stands tugging his tank top off by pulling the back of the collar. your mouth is dry at the sight of him leaning back on your hands to take him in. Those jeans are low on his hips as he toes out of his shoes, “take your top off,” he nods, popping the button of his jeans.
you follow your orders, you're braless, nipples already hard and aching for attention. “You listen so well,” he tugs the zipper of his jeans down but doesn't pull his pants down. Instead, he leans over you, kissing you down your neck until he makes it to your tits, sucking one nipple between his teeth and rolling the other one between his fingers. you open your legs to him, your shorts are too tight all of a sudden, too hot. lacing your fingers in his hair you throw your head back as he gives your nipple a tug with his teeth before switching to the neglected side. you moan rolling your hips into his clothed bulge and he sinks deeper into the cradle of your hips. “the prettiest girl making the prettiest sounds,” you whimper at his words knowing you are completely soaked.
chan pulls away letting you lay out on the mattress before he hooks his fingers in your shorts and panties tugging them down your legs. he moans at the sight of you laid out before him, he tugs one of your legs to the side to reveal more of you to him, glistening under the lights. never has he been so excited to devour someone and that's just what he does, not waiting before his mouth is on you. he groans against your clit the vibration making your knees weak, “you taste as good as you look,” he wraps his arms under and around your thighs to spread you wide before diving back in.
your hands twist in his duvet, your orgasm building faster than it ever has before. your back arching off the bed before you start riding his face so close to the edge that you don't expect his fingers until they are pressed right against the gummy spot inside you and you’re seeing spots as you cum. Chan is licking you clean as you ride out your high before he stands fingers in his mouth watching your legs twitch. “That was one,” a cocky grin present as he moves around to the nightstand to pull out a condom.
you sit up on your elbows watching him strip, thick veiny cock hitting his stomach. He climbs up on the bed resting against the pillows and headboard before rolling the condom on. “if your legs still work I'd love it if you gave me a ride,”
“and if they don't?” you ask watching him spit into his hand before grabbing himself and tugging loosely.
“I'll sit here and finish by myself but wouldn't it be so much fun to watch me disappearing into you?” you can feel yourself flutter at the thought. pulling yourself up and crawling up the bed to chan he grabs your hips to help steady yourself as you straddle him. you sink your hips down letting your wetness coat the condom, Chan's head is thrown back as he whines, “Please don't tease me,” his thumbs digging in hard enough to bruise your waist like a belt.
“Whiny baby,” you coo, pressing a kiss over his pulse, the rapid beating so similar to your own as you reach down between you two to guide him to your entrance. Chan is gasping when you sink onto him, slowly inching down and rising every few strokes before you're finally stretched enough to sink fully seated on him. his tight stomach fluttering under your hands as you use him as leverage to rise again. you can feel him so deep he's kissing your womb, right in your throat.“god you're so fucking warm, just fucking right,” he moans half-lidded eyes watching where your bodies meet, you'regoing too slow for him and he flicks his hips up to watch himself disappear in the sweetest cunt he's ever had.
“you're so big,” you whimper reaching for one of his hands to press into your pelvis, the added pressure makes your head fall forward in a moan, “you feel so good,”
“Choke me please,” he moans head on the pillows as he plants his heels to get more leverage to thrust into you, “please,” the whimper he lets out nearly sends you over the edge. you use one of your hands to wrap around his throat, the vein pulsing under the tips of your fingers. “harder baby I can take it,” you nod at his words increasing the pressure you have on him, his eyes fluttering shut as he snaps his hips up into you. He keeps his hand pressed to your pelvis and he can feel each thrust meet the heel of his palm. your knees planted firmly against the mattress he lets go of your hip to press his thumb into your clit. you cry out as he keeps up his brutal pace rubbing your clit in circles and driving you over the edge. you can't even move as he pulls out not wanting to cum at the feel of you squeezing him just yet. your hand still around his neck as you come down from your high, breathing labored.
“That was two,” he smirks when you sit up, twitching when your clit brushed his thigh. “onto three,” he wraps his arms around you flipping you over so that you're now laying where he had been. he pushes your legs up so that your shins are against his chest. he can't help himself, he's not even in you and he's trying to rut against your legs, his whines and moans sounding almost pained. “please I need to feel you, all of you,” he begs, “I promise ill pull out I just want to feel you,” his breathy pleas pressed right into your ear, hair sticking to your sweaty cheeks. You're holding onto his shoulders nodding without thinking twice because you need to feel him so bad. He reaches down to roll the condom back off not caring anymore about anything but being in you as deep as possible. As close as possible.
you cry out when he sinks back in, so much warmer and thicker than before, every ridge in his cock fitting perfectly with you. your hands slip down to his biceps nails digging back in as you hold on as Chan snaps his hips forward moaning deep enough that you feel the rumble in his stomach pressed against your legs.
chan is fucking you so hard the headboard is hitting the wall, he's pounding in over and over that your toes are curling. Then he sinks his hips finding a new angle until he's hitting your gummy spot, your head falls back and he presses his open mouth to your neck moaning against your skin the feeling singing all the way to your teeth. “I needed to feel you, I needed to feel that you're mine,” his words are choppy as he keeps up his pace. “you feel so fucking right,” he pulls back enough to push your legs a bit wider and he's back to his pace, your back arching into him. You're full of electricity, every nerve humming as he rocks back and forth. you can feel him twitch inside you and Chan knows he wouldn't be able to pull out even if he tried.
he fully seats himself in you as he cums, thick hot ropes of it filling you up. his moan is so loud in your ear and the feeling of his release triggers your third orgasm, your cry half scream as you follow right after him.
Chan's never cum so much in his life, his hips moving lazily as you flutter around his cock taking everything he has to offer. when he pulls out a trail of your mixed fluids follows, so much so that it makes a puddle on the duvet under you. Chan runs his finger through the cream rubbing it up your clit and back down to your entrance before he leans over and licks you clean. “Chan!” your knees are shaking, tears threatening to spill as he pulls himself back up pressing his mouth to yours and letting some of the cum he's collected spill onto your tongue. he kisses away the saltiness before pulling back, to gaze down on you, “that was three, looks like you owe me one more date,”

an: coming in to drop in my usual dose of pain! sorry guys! also i know london doesn't snow much i live there okay - for fictional purposes it snows like canada okay

She had always imagined London as a city brimming with stories—something in the fog, in the way strangers passed each other without a glance, as though every life was a thread winding off into its own tangled skein. But sitting at the tiny table in the corner of a café just off Piccadilly, all she felt was an ache of silence. It settled into her bones, heavy and dull, refusing to leave as she stared down at the empty page of her notebook.
It wasn’t just that she was struggling to write; she’d had writer’s block before, countless times. This felt different, like an emptiness she couldn’t quite explain, as if she were looking for something and wasn’t sure she’d ever find it.
Outside, holiday lights twinkled from shop windows, the buzz of Christmas infecting the streets with a forced cheer that only made her feel more isolated. Her family, well… they hadn’t protested when she’d told them she’d be spending Christmas alone this year, though her mother’s voice had held a thin strain of relief, the same quiet resignation that crept into their few conversations. This was better, she told herself. No pretence of trying to belong.
A little bell jingled as the café door opened, sending a swirl of cold air and a few snowflakes across the room. She lifted her gaze, feeling the dullness lift, just slightly, as she watched the strangers filter in and take their places—shaking off scarves, brushing snow from their shoulders. She wasn’t sure what she was looking for, exactly. A spark of inspiration, maybe. The start of a story that she could somehow pull from thin air.
Then she noticed him. He had slipped into the seat next to hers, a coffee between his hands as he stared out the window with an intense, almost brooding focus. She studied him, wondering if he was waiting for someone. The sharp angles of his profile, the tension in his shoulders, the way he held his coffee like it was anchoring him to something unseen. There was something almost familiar about it, that quiet ache that seemed to ripple off him.
She barely realised she’d spoken aloud until she heard her own voice break the silence between them.
“You do that too?”
He turned, startled, his gaze flickering to hers with a hint of surprise. “Do what?”
“People watch,” she said, feeling a faint, unexpected smile tug at her lips.
His face softened, just a little, and for a moment, she thought he might smile too. “I guess I do.”
The silence between them held, soft but charged, like the last still moment before a storm. She was suddenly aware of the faint smell of coffee in the air, of the warmth of the café and the cold press of London just outside. She couldn’t quite look away.
For the next week, they fell into a rhythm neither of them acknowledged aloud. Each morning, she would arrive at the café, order her coffee, and take her usual seat by the window. And almost without fail, he would appear shortly after, his movements precise and unhurried, as if the same quiet pull guided him there.
At first, she thought it was coincidence. London was vast, but habits could form anywhere, and the café had a kind of intimacy that made it easy to return to. But after the third day, she began to wonder.
They didn’t speak, not really. Sometimes, their eyes would meet briefly, a flicker of recognition that neither of them followed up on. She tried not to think too much about him, but he was impossible to ignore, sitting so near, his focus as sharp as it was restless. He scribbled occasionally in a leather notebook, his jaw tight, his gaze flicking to the window as if seeking answers he wasn’t finding.
She imagined he was an artist, or maybe a journalist. Someone chasing a story just as elusive as her own. But she couldn’t bring herself to ask.
It was on the eighth day that he finally broke the silence.
“You’ve been stuck all week, haven’t you?”
She looked up, startled, his voice cutting through the quiet hum of the café. He was watching her now, his gaze steady and warm but laced with something sharper—curiosity, perhaps.
“I—what?” she asked, her cheeks warming.
His lips twitched, not quite a smile. “Your notebook. You keep opening it, but you haven’t written anything.”
She hesitated, her instinct to deflect faltering under the weight of his gaze. There was no judgement there, just an odd kind of understanding that made her feel more exposed than she liked.
“I’m stuck,” she admitted finally, closing the notebook as if to prove her point. “Completely and hopelessly stuck.”
“What are you writing?”
Her fingers tightened on the cover. She wasn’t sure why she answered him. Maybe it was the way he asked, so simply, like the answer mattered. “A romance novel.”
He raised an eyebrow, and for a moment she thought he might laugh. But he didn’t. Instead, he leaned back in his chair, considering her with a thoughtful expression. “Romance, huh? No wonder you’re struggling.”
“Excuse me?” she said, a faint edge creeping into her voice.
“You’re not going to get much inspiration sitting in a coffee shop,” he said simply, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
She opened her mouth to argue, then shut it again. Because he was right. The truth of it gnawed at her, even as she bristled.
“I’m only visiting London,” she said instead, as if that explained everything.
“Even better.”
She blinked, confused. “What do you mean?”
He leaned forward then, his gaze pinning hers. “I’ll take you,” he said, as though it were already decided.
“Take me where?”
“Pack your things,” he said, standing abruptly and shrugging into his coat.
She blinked up at him, startled. “What?”
“You’ve been sitting here for a week, and it’s obviously not working,” he said, his tone matter-of-fact. “Come on. We’re going to Hyde Park.”
Her instinct was to refuse, to laugh it off and tell him she didn’t have time for distractions. But something about the way he said it—firm, certain, like it wasn’t a question—made her pause.
She hesitated. “It’s snowing.”
“That’s the point.” He glanced at her notebook. “Unless you’d rather keep staring at blank pages?”
That stung, but he wasn’t wrong. With a sigh, she slid her notebook into her bag, slung her coat over her shoulders, and followed him out of the café.
The snow fell softly, brushing against her cheeks and clinging to her hair as they walked to the nearest tube station. She didn’t bother to ask where they were going—he’d already told her, and besides, she had the strange sense that she could trust him, at least for now.
The tube was chaos. She clutched the cold metal pole for balance, acutely aware of the press of strangers around her. He stood just ahead of her, perfectly at ease, one hand tucked into his coat pocket, the other resting casually on a strap above his head.
“This is…” She searched for the word.
“Overwhelming?” he offered, glancing back at her.
“Beautiful,” she said, surprising herself. The movement, the noise, the life—it was nothing like home, where everything felt static and predictable.
He smiled, just slightly, and she wondered if he’d expected her to say something else.
When they finally emerged from the station, Hyde Park lay spread out before them, its open paths blanketed in fresh snow. The lamplight made the flakes glisten, casting an almost magical glow over the scene. Families bundled in scarves and hats wandered by, their laughter carrying through the cold air. A few children darted across the snow, throwing snowballs and leaving behind trails of footprints.
She inhaled deeply, letting the crisp air fill her lungs. “This is perfect.”
“Told you,” he said, his voice low and teasing.
They walked in silence for a while, the only sounds the crunch of snow underfoot and the distant hum of the city. She found herself glancing at him more than once, studying the curve of his profile, the way his gaze seemed to take in everything and nothing all at once.
Finally, she broke the silence. “You’re not from here.”
He looked at her, one eyebrow raised. “What gave it away?”
“The accent,” she said with a small smile. “Australia?”
“Yeah.”
“So why aren’t you home for Christmas?”
He hesitated, his gaze flicking away toward the trees. “Work,” he said simply.
There was a weight to the word that she didn’t miss, but she didn’t press. Instead, she nodded. “Same.”
“Work?”
“I have a deadline,” she said. “And, honestly, I don’t really enjoy spending Christmas at home.”
“Why not?”
She shrugged, stuffing her hands deeper into her pockets. “It’s complicated.”
“Fair enough.” He didn’t push, and she was grateful for it.
They continued to talk as they reached one of the gates, she found out his name was Oscar and that he was the eldest of four - all sisters. That he liked London at Christmas but nothing felt better than summer at home.
She didn’t know much about him, but the parts she knew she liked. She turned to face him, her breath visible in the cold air.
“Here,” he said, pulling out his phone and holding it toward her. “Give me your number.”
She hesitated, then took it and typed in her name—just her first name—and her number before handing it back.
He smiled, sliding the phone into his coat. “I’ll message you. Same time tomorrow?”
“What for?”
“We’ll go somewhere else,” he said. “More people to watch.”
She laughed softly, shaking her head. “All right. Tomorrow.”
“Good,” he said, turning toward the street. “And hey—bring that notebook.”
He walked away then, disappearing into the glow of a nearby lamppost. She stood there for a moment longer, the snow falling lightly around her, before turning back toward the tube station.
When she got back to her hotel room, she barely remembered slipping out of her coat and scarf before reaching for her notebook. The page that had stayed blank for days now stared back at her, expectant, but the words finally came.
She wrote about Hyde Park, about the snow dusting the trees like powdered sugar, the children’s laughter mingling with the crisp air. She described the quiet magic of it, the feeling of walking beside someone who wasn’t a stranger but wasn’t yet familiar, either. She wrote about the way the city moved even in the stillness, as though it never quite paused to catch its breath.
By the time she put her pen down, the clock on the bedside table read past midnight, and her eyelids felt heavy. She was just about to turn off the bedside lamp when her phone buzzed.
Tomorrow. Same café. Tower Bridge.
She stared at the message for a moment, then smiled faintly, typing a quick reply.
Okay.
The next morning, she found him waiting at their usual café, his coffee already in hand. This time, he didn’t waste any words. With a nod toward the door, he led her out into the bright winter morning.
The tube ride to Tower Bridge was quieter this time, the rush of the city somehow softened by the lingering snow. She leaned against the cool glass of the window, watching the stations blur past, while he sat across from her, his eyes distant as if he were lost in thought.
When they finally emerged onto the bridge, the view stole her breath. The Thames stretched wide and glittering beneath them, the snow-covered rooftops of the city rising on either side. A faint breeze cut through the air, carrying with it the murmur of distant traffic and the occasional laugh of a passerby.
“Over here,” he said, gesturing to a bench overlooking the water.
They sat in easy silence, the cold biting at her cheeks as they watched the world unfold around them. Runners passed by, their breath visible in the air as their footsteps echoed on the pavement. Families ambled by, parents clutching the hands of toddlers bundled in bright coats, their faces red with the cold.
And then there were the couples—leaning close, sharing whispers and stolen kisses, moving through the snow-dusted streets as though nothing else existed.
She watched them longer than she meant to, a soft ache unfurling in her chest. She hadn’t thought about romance in a long time—not for herself, anyway. Writing about it was one thing, imagining love in all its sweeping, cinematic glory. But watching it here, in all its small, quiet moments, made her realise how far removed she felt from it.
“Good spot for people watching,” he said, breaking the silence.
She turned to him, surprised to find him watching her instead of the crowd. He had an easy, unreadable expression, but there was something in his eyes—curiosity, maybe, or understanding—that made her feel unsteady.
“It is,” she said softly, turning her gaze back to the bridge.
The bench shifted slightly as he leaned closer, and then she felt it—his arm, warm and solid, draping lightly over the back of the bench behind her. It wasn’t much, barely brushing her shoulders, but the warmth of it cut through the cold in a way she hadn’t expected.
For a moment, she let herself lean into it, just slightly, just enough to feel the quiet comfort of not being alone.
Her mind wandered as they sat there, the sound of the river mingling with the soft murmur of passersby. She could already feel the words taking shape, the scenes unfolding in her head—the way the light hit the water, the way couples moved through the world as if it were made just for them.
She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, the way his face softened as he watched the world move past. He didn’t say much, but she could feel the weight of his presence beside her, steady and grounding.
When she got back to her hotel later, she knew exactly what she’d write.
The days passed like pages of a book, each one filled with something unexpected. He didn’t ask her what she was doing tomorrow anymore—he simply texted her a time and a place, and she showed up. Each morning, they met at the café, where he’d already have his coffee, and then he’d whisk her away to some new corner of London.
On Tuesday, it was Covent Garden, where they wandered through the open market, listening to street musicians and watching shoppers bustle through the stalls. She watched a couple holding hands over steaming cups of mulled wine, their laughter bright against the cold air, and she jotted down notes in her notebook while he stood quietly beside her.
On Wednesday, they sat on a bench by the Serpentine in Hyde Park again, the water still and glassy beneath the pale winter sun. A group of friends threw breadcrumbs to a flock of ducks, their voices echoing over the water. She found herself leaning closer to him on the bench, the quiet between them no longer feeling like something to fill but something to savour.
Thursday brought them to Borough Market, where the air smelled of fresh bread and spiced cider. They stood in the crowd watching a vendor slice thick slabs of cheese for a customer, the chaos of the market swirling around them. “You see that guy over there?” he said, nodding toward a man balancing two grocery bags and a loaf of bread under his arm. “Think he’s a chef or just a guy with too many dinner parties?”
She laughed softly. “Dinner parties, definitely. He’s probably terrible at cooking, but his friends pretend it’s amazing.”
“I like that. You could use it in your book.”
“Maybe I will.”
By Friday, she stopped questioning his plans altogether. They spent the afternoon at Camden Lock, perched by the canal watching boats drift lazily by. They didn’t talk much, but when he rested his arm on the back of her chair, she didn’t move away. That night, when she returned to her hotel, she stayed up writing, the words pouring out of her with a kind of ease she hadn’t felt in months.
Saturday was Notting Hill, the pastel houses dusted with snow and the streets quiet in the early morning. They wandered down Portobello Road, pausing to watch a young family decorating their front stoop with twinkling lights.
“They’ll probably take them down on January first,” she murmured, watching the father lift his son onto his shoulders.
“Maybe not,” he said. “Some people like to hang onto things.”
She glanced at him, but he didn’t elaborate, and she didn’t ask.
By Sunday, the last day of the year, she realised how much these days had begun to mean to her. She woke up early, unable to sleep, and spent the morning writing, her pen racing across the pages. The world he’d shown her—the quiet moments, the people moving through the city in their own small orbits—was spilling onto the page in ways she hadn’t expected.
That evening, as the city prepared for New Year’s Eve, he texted her again. Meet me at the café. Tonight’s special.
She arrived to find him waiting outside, his breath visible in the cold air. He smiled when he saw her, and the warmth of it chased away the chill that had settled in her chest.
“Where are we going?” she asked.
“You’ll see.”
They walked through the snow-dusted streets, the city alive with anticipation. Everywhere, people were gathering—couples arm in arm, friends laughing as they hurried to pubs and parties. The air was electric, charged with the anticipation of midnight, and she could feel it humming in her chest as they moved.
She glanced at her phone, the time glowing against the dark: 11:58 PM. Two minutes until the new year.
She stopped walking, her breath curling in front of her as she turned to look at him. He slowed, taking a step back toward her. “What is it?”
She didn’t answer right away, her heart beating a little too fast as her mind raced. For once, she didn’t want to overthink it. She was tired of going into every new year feeling like she’d missed out, of letting the weight of her family and her avoidance of Christmas follow her into January.
She wanted something to hold onto—a moment, a memory.
Her gaze flicked to his, steady and curious, and then she spoke before she could lose her nerve. “Can I kiss you?”
His brows lifted slightly, his surprise clear, but he didn’t step back. Instead, he searched her face, as if trying to make sense of her sudden shift.
“Kiss me?”
“It’s New Year’s,” she said softly, her voice almost lost in the cold air between them. “And I just… I don’t want to go into next year with the same old memories. I want—just one moment, something good. Something to hold onto.”
For a long moment, he didn’t say anything, and she felt her stomach twist, already preparing for rejection. But then he stepped closer, his breath warm against the chill of the night.
“Okay,” he said, so quietly she barely heard it.
The first firework exploded above them, a cascade of silver light that lit up the snow-dusted bridge. And then his hand came up, brushing gently against her cheek, and he kissed her.
It wasn’t soft, wasn’t hesitant. It was consuming, like the city itself had folded inward around them, leaving nothing but the warmth of his mouth on hers and the distant thunder of fireworks. Her hands found the front of his coat, gripping it as though letting go might undo the spell of the moment.
When he pulled back, her heart was racing, her breath unsteady. For a brief, dazzling moment, she thought this might actually be the start of something. But then his expression shifted, and she knew.
“I can’t,” he said quietly, stepping back just enough to let the cold air rush between them again.
Her brow furrowed. “What do you mean, you can’t?”
He exhaled, his hand sliding through his hair as his gaze dropped to the ground. “I can’t give you anything. This—us—it wouldn’t work.”
Her stomach sank. “Why not?”
He hesitated, and for a moment, she thought he might just walk away. But then he looked up, his expression conflicted. “I’m a Formula One driver,” he said, the words falling heavily between them.
She blinked, trying to piece together the sudden shift. “A…what?”
“Formula One,” he repeated, quieter this time. “I’m never in one place for long. My life is—it’s chaotic. It’s not fair to ask anyone to try to keep up with it.”
She stared at him, her mind scrambling to catch up. “And you weren’t going to tell me?”
“I didn’t think it mattered,” he said, his voice tight. “Not at first. You’re only here for a while, right? This was supposed to be…” He trailed off, shaking his head.
“A distraction,” she finished for him, bitterness creeping into her voice.
“No,” he said quickly. “Not like that. I just—I didn’t think it would get this far.”
She swallowed hard, the sting of his words cutting deeper than she’d expected. “So, that’s it? That’s the reason?”
“It’s not just a reason,” he said, his voice soft but firm. “Its my life.”
Her chest felt heavy, like something inside her had collapsed. She looked at him, the way his jaw was tight, his eyes filled with something that might’ve been regret.
“We could try,” she said, hating the way her voice wavered.
He shook his head, his gaze dropping again. “It wouldn’t be fair to you.”
Her throat tightened, and she looked away, swallowing against the lump rising there. The fireworks were still going off above them, but they felt distant now, as though they belonged to someone else’s story.
He stepped forward slightly. “I’ll walk you back to the café,” he offered quietly.
She shook her head. “No.”
“You shouldn’t—”
“I’ll be fine,” she cut him off, her voice sharper than she meant it to be.
For a moment, he just stood there, his expression unreadable. Then he nodded, stepping back. “Goodnight,” he said softly, before turning and walking away.
She stayed there for a moment, watching him disappear into the distance, before finally turning and walking back the way they’d co
The streets were alive with celebration—couples kissing beneath the fireworks, friends laughing and clinking glasses, strangers shouting “Happy New Year!” to anyone who’d listen. She walked through it all, alone, the cold seeping into her skin and the ache in her chest growing heavier with every step.
When she finally reached her hotel room, the city was quieting down, the last of the fireworks fading into the night. She closed the door behind her and sank onto the edge of the bed, staring at her notebook on the desk.
For the first time in days, she didn’t reach for it. Instead, she lay back and let the silence swallow her whole.

The airport was buzzing, as always. Crowds moving in every direction, the hum of conversation and the tinny voice of announcements echoing overhead. He’d been through so many terminals in so many cities that they all blurred together now—just another stop on the endless circuit of his life.
It was late afternoon, and he had time before his flight. A rare luxury. The race weekend in Austin had been exhausting, but he couldn’t even think about rest yet. His mind was elsewhere.
It had been months since London. Months since New Year’s Eve, since her. And still, she lingered. No matter how fast he drove, how far he travelled, she was there—in the quiet moments, in the cracks of his carefully controlled life.
He thought about her more than he wanted to admit. The way she’d leaned toward him on that bench by Tower Bridge. The way her voice had trembled when she’d asked if they could try, and the way he’d let her walk away. He told himself it was the right decision, the only decision. But that didn’t stop him from replaying it over and over, from wondering if he’d made a mistake.
As he walked through the terminal, his eyes caught on a bookstore tucked between gates. He wasn’t much of a reader—his schedule didn’t leave much room for it—but something about it drew him in.
The display at the front of the store was bright and eye-catching, a wall of bestsellers stacked high with glossy covers. His gaze skimmed over them idly, his thoughts elsewhere, until one caught his attention.
The title: Free Now.
And beneath it, a name. Her name.
He froze, the noise of the airport fading to a dull roar as he stared at the book. It didn’t seem real, seeing her name there in bold, shiny print, like a beacon pulling him in. Before he could stop himself, he reached for a copy, his hands almost unsteady as he turned it over to read the back.
The blurb was short, but it was enough:
"Two strangers meet in London over the holidays—a writer searching for inspiration, and a man running from the weight of his own life. For a week, they share the city, its magic, its quiet moments, and the pieces of themselves they never intended to give away. But some love stories don’t end with forever—they end with goodbye."
His chest tightened. The words hit too close, carving into him with a precision that felt deliberate. He flipped the book open, skimming through the pages. The characters weren’t them, not exactly, but it was their story—their conversations, their quiet moments, the snowfall in Hyde Park, the fireworks on New Year’s Eve.
Then his eyes landed on a line, and the ground beneath him seemed to shift.
"I was brave when I kissed you in London, but I wasn’t brave enough to ask you to stay."
He read it again, the words sinking in like a knife twisting in his chest.
She had been brave. And he hadn’t.
The truth of it hit him harder than he expected. He could see her so clearly in his mind—the way she’d looked at him that night, her eyes full of something raw and hopeful, something he’d been too afraid to meet. She’d asked for something simple, something honest, and he’d walked away, thinking he was doing the right thing.
But was it?
The overhead speaker crackled, announcing a boarding call for his flight. He didn’t move. The book was still in his hands, the weight of it anchoring him in place.
Months had passed since London, and yet here she was, writing the story they could never have. It was all there on the page—the longing, the heartbreak, the ache he couldn’t seem to shake no matter how fast he ran.
He closed the book gently, his hands lingering on the cover. For the first time in years, he wondered if maybe the life he’d built wasn’t enough. If maybe he’d made a mistake that couldn’t be undone.
The crowd around him moved, people brushing past without a second glance, but he stood there, rooted in place, staring at her name like it was a lifeline he couldn’t quite reach.
She’d been brave. And now he wondered if he ever could be.
Before he could even stop himself, or take a minute to mull the idea over, he took his phone out and opened up Instagram. He hesitated for half a second before finding her Instagram.

today was one of the few days you weren’t planning on hanging out with jinx, but obviously you ended up doing just that. jinx was just checking up on you, watching you work from the very back corner of the cute little coffee shop you were studying in (sometimes she is baffled by the fact that you have never ever noticed her stalking you. she is in plain sight half the time) when someone from your class comes in and approaches you at your table.
you smile up at them, moving your bag so they can sit opposite you and the two of you start chatting. several minutes go by, your studies long forgotten as you get to know your classmate, someone who you hadn’t really spoken to much before. jinx on the other hand, hasn’t moved a muscle and has barely even blinked as she watches the interaction unfold before her, eyes flickering between the two of you before noticing your classmate pulling their phone out.
jinx damn near gets up out of her seat when she sees you take their phone and type what jinx assumes was your phone number. she finally moves, though only to start bouncing her leg up and down, waiting for an opportunity to question you. she’s bitten her lip so hard that it bleeds.
after what feels like an eternity, your classmate leaves. jinx already knows their name and perhaps even their address after somehow finding a list of everyone in your class and researching each of them. they will face their punishment in due course. as soon as the door closes behind them, jinx is up and stomping towards your table.
the sudden movement opposite you as she sits down causes you to look up again from your laptop and you exclaim upon seeing her. “oh! hey jinx.”
jinx doesn’t say anything in return, just licks the remaining half-dried blood from her lip.
“who was that?” she questions, leaning on her forearms over the table. she sounds annoyed, and you really really hope she isn’t as angry as she sounds.
“someone from my class. they just wanted to borrow some notes they had missed,” you explain as you gather your stuff up and put it in your bag. you know she’s gonna make you leave with her so you might as well prepare.
“hm. whatever, let’s go.”
you follow jinx out of the shop and she grabs your arm to pull you along beside her while she thinks of the quickest route back to either of your houses.
you end up at her house, the door locked behind you as you push your shoes off. jinx tugs your bag off your shoulder for you, dropping it to the floor with a thud before leading you to her room.
she starts yanking off your jacket, your clothes and finally your underwear. she sheds a couple of her own layers, but pauses when she’s just in her underwear and a tight cropped tank top. you can’t say you’re not turned on, and you brace yourself for the teasing that will likely follow when jinx forces your legs open.
in the time you imagine how she’s going to chide you for how wet you’re getting over literally nothing, she’s managed to get her strap on and pulls you onto your stomach, bending your knees for you so you’re face down, ass up on her bed. she continues wordlessly as she begins tying a turquoise rope around your wrists behind your back.
jinx lines up her dick with your already dripping hole and pushes in, making you whine into the mattress. still without a word, she starts fucking you, and hard.
you quickly build up to your orgasm, chanting jinx’s name like a prayer begging her to let you cum.
she replies with a simple “go on.” and you cum hard on her dick, a few tears escaping your eyes and soaking the sheets below.
tonight, it’s her goal to make sure you know she’s the only one who can give you what she can, as well as she can.
jinx coaxes a few more orgasms from you with her strap before she decides to opt for a new method to make you feel so good you cry.
she pulls your fucked out body into her lap and drags your arms behind her head so they looped around her neck, still bound together by the blue rope. she kicks her legs under yours to force them open and keep them that way. then, she shoves two of her fingers into your mouth.
instinctively, you start to suck, tongue curling around her slender fingers.
“mhm, that’s it. good girl.” jinx muses as she watches your lips puckering around her digits. it surprises you how much she can change when she’s fucking you, becoming dark and dominant over you.
she pulls her now wet fingers out of your mouth with a pop and traces them down the valley of your chest, along your stomach down to your pussy. she teases your clit and your puffy folds for a second before plunging her fingers into your sensitive hole. you cry out and squeeze your eyes shut, failing to notice jinx reaching behind her as she grasps for her assault knife. the one with the hot pink and turquoise handle she made herself.
as she curls her fingers inside of you, she gently prods your inner thigh with the knife and you twitch at the sudden pain. you open your eyes and look up at her, not being able to restrain the whimpers coming from your throat as jinx continues fingering you with her knife still poking you, threatening to pierce your skin.
“ji-… hurts..” you can barely get a word out from how tight the coil inside of you is.
she’s not letting you reach your orgasm on purpose. you hear her giggle at your whining through the haze of your pleasure.
“you gonna cum?” she sings at you. she’s just teasing your for her own pleasure now. freak.
“please…jinx. wanna cum so bad..” you plead with her.
“y’know no one else can make you cum like this, baby. no one else can do what i do.” she begins to drag the knife up to the space between your tits.
jinx doesn’t feel like drawing any blood from you today, but she doesn’t need to tell you that right now. she just needs to make you know that you’re hers. she owns you and she needs to punish you for making her jealous.
“tell me i’m the only one who can make you cum.” she presses down with the blade, hearing you moan even louder. she’s changed her mind now. she pulls the knife down a little, drops of blood blooming on your chest.
you’re writhing in her grip now. you’re so so close to cumming but she just won’t let you.
“go on. tell me.” jinx says bluntly before dipping her head down to lick the blood off you.
“yo-..! you’re the only one jinx! the only one who can make me cum! please- please let me..” you cry as your sentence dies on your tongue, brows furrowed and eyes shut.
she hums. “see, baby? wasn’t so hard.” she puts the knife down and finally fucking you just that little bit harder.
the band in your belly snaps and you cum so hard you see stars. your hot juices spurt out of your convulsing hole over jinx’s palm and her bedsheets. she licks the tears from your cheeks and strokes your hair with her free hand.
you relax against her, breathing heavily as she wipes the small wound she made with a cloth she had on her nightstand. she lets you calm down a little more before cleaning up your soaked pussy.
you think it’s probably best to ignore any texts from your classmate, and pretend you typed your number wrong. for their sake, not yours.

Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3
MASTERLIST
tara carpenter x fem!reader
summary: Finally, the group project comes to an end, and you won’t have to deal with Tara’s attitude anymore. Only if you knew what was coming, maybe then you would rather pick that crazy Carpenter...
tags: enemies to lovers, they are on it again, y/n got a new admirer, tara almost died, cozy, fluff
word count: 1.5k
You were currently sitting in a cafeteria. Wereses you had some free time before the last class so you agreed to meet there with Tara and continue with your project.
It has been a few weeks since you have been working on it and moved succesfully foward. Both of you were happy it finally moved to it´s end, this was something that was annoying your lives for these last days. Or more like you were annoying to one another.
„Do you think it can be like this?“ You turned your notebook into Tara´s direction. She red the notes and noded her head. „Great, so we just need to make the conclusion.“
You were sitting opposite of each other in one of the back tables. Behind your back was a big window with a sigh to a whole campus.
„Yeah, I think it´s perfect.“ You looked at the girl in front of you. Her bangs got longer, you wonder if she wants to cut it again or let it grow. She was wearing a dress to her knees with a flowers on it. The weather today was pretty good despite the grey clouds above your heads. It looked like it would start raining anytime soon.
Your eyes scanned the room. There wasn´t a lot of people today, everybody was probably studying at home for exams or taking class. You caught eyes of the girl on the other side. She was sitting alone with just book in her hands and caffee by her side. Your eyes met and she smiled at you, which you return.
It was almost time for the exam so you both agreed to do it later in your apartment. As soon as you both stepped outside you could feel the drops of water falling onto your skin. With fast steps you came inside the campus but still with your clothes wet. You looked at Tara and saw how her strands of her were stuck on her forehead from the rain.
You burst out laughing. The girl turned to you with angry eyes. „Stop laughing!“ She pushed you into your chest and you stumbled a little. Tara was holding her phone with the front camera trying to brush her wet hair and clean the mascara that was now on her eyelids.
„I´ve seen you looking worse.“ You said as you adjust the strap on your shoulder.
„You look worse all the time.“
Your mouth hung down as you kept looking at her back as she kept walking away from you into the hallways of the campus. No, you won´t leave it just like this, she will eat it with a winch.
-
You were standing in a aisle of a small shop by the corner of the neighbourhood were you lived. One of your hands was holding a small shopping basket and the other one was holding milk as you were reading the back of it.
The notification of your phone cut you from it as you put the milk back and took your phone to check the text from Ethan. Last time you shared the class you talked about the video games and how you enjoy playing them. After that he asked you if you wanted to play with him some time, which of course you couldn´t decline.
„Are you intolerant?“ Your whole body twinched at the sudden voice you heard behind you. You almost dropped your phone as you were trying to put in back in your pocket. With a quick motion you turned around.
„Oh, I´m sorry I didn´t want to scare you.“ The girls eyes widen with apologizing look in her eyes.
„It´s fine, you just caught me off guard.“ You said to her. She was familiar to you but you couldn´t really remember when did you see her.
She laughed at your words and looked behind you again. „Yeah, I saw that you were deep in the reading the back of the milk.“ The girl teased you a little. „You were trying to find lactose-free milk or something?“
„Uhm yeah.“ No, you didn´t have a reason to read it you just wanted to and it would look dumb if you said that you just wanted to read it. What the fuck would she think?
„Oh then I think you are looking the wrong way, the lactose-free is over there.“ She pointed at the direction of the other side of the shelf.
„Ah! My bad, looks like you know it better than me.“ You rubbed the back of your neck with a nervous smile.
The girl bit the side of her cheek gently looking at the ground and then up to you. „No problem, if you need anything else just tell me, I´ll be glad to help.“ She smiled.
By that smile you already knew who it was, the girl from the cafeteria. Damnit, she really needed to see you now? In your homeless fit for no one’s eyes to see. You were sure nobody would see you so you grabbed whatever was under your touch. Fucking embarassing.
You laughed nervously and thanked her making your way to the direction she was pointing earlier.
You need to buy this milk now you stupid imbecile.
„I recommed you this one.“ She grabbed the milk from the shelf. „It´s probably my favourite.“ This girl can´t rest, can she?
„You seem like you know what you are talking about.“ You said.
„Oh yes! I only drink these types of milks.“
You softly grabbed the milk from her hands and put that in your basket with a embarassing smile on your face.
„Uhm thanks for advice I guess... uhm see you next time?“ You turned around and walked away from the girl. The vibe felt pretty embarassing so you felt urge to just walk away with her eyes still following you.
-
Tara was now again in your room finishing the project. Every time you spend time with the girl you needed to hold yourself on a leash but these past weeks when you were together, just you and her alone you felt like you were doing some kind of patience class.
How many times you held yourself from jumping on her because of the anger or holding the tongue behind your teeths because of some offending shit she said. That little brat didn´t know how to act but you couldn´t change that. Well, not like you tried.
You hummed to her as you brought her glass of water she asked earlier. The girl noded with her head taking the drink from the desk slowly learning back her back against your gaming chair. You sat back on your bed as always continueing with your work.
„I´m so glad we are finally at the end.“ She said with her eyes closed and her head tilt back.
„Yup.“
She looked at your way. „You know, I´m pretty surprised.“ You rised your eyebrows at her. „I mean the first day I was sitting on the floor and look at me now.“ She spin herself around on your chair. „I´m sitting in your spot.“
„So?“
Tara stopped and looked back at you. „I calmed down your agressive ass.“
„Mine agressive ass?“ you asked in disbelive with a high voice. „Last time I check you were like that. I don´t even know how that much of evil can fit into your small ass body.“
„See! I wouldn´t be like that if you weren´t! I was saying something nice and you are you again!“
„Me?! You- Argh!“ this is exactly what she wants from you Y/N... Don´t let her get into your head.
You breathed out the air from you chest and calmed your nerves. Tara smirked at you, in her eyes she won, like every time.
After that both of you were quiet once again and focused on the work. After finishing you went through the whole thing, scanning it and trying to correct the flaws that were left. Your strong focus was cut by Tara´s deep breathing. At first you thought she was just getting frustrated at something she found in her phone but as the seconds were passing by it was worse.
Of course.
You slowly stood up and left your room. You made your way into her bag that was left in the hallway of the apartment. She must have it here. Your hand went into her bag and was trying to find her inhaler. There wasn´t anyway she wouldn´t have it in her bag right? At the end of the day, her health was depent on that little thing.
When you finally found it you brough it to her. Her hand was already on her chest and her eyes were closed, trying to calm herself.
„Here.“ You took her hand that was resting on your chair and put the inhaler into her palm. She looked at the object you handed her and then up at you with her big brown eyes. You huffed and took her hand up to her mouth to use the inhaler.
Finally after when Tara´s breathing was calmed you stepped back and sat on your bed still looking at the brunette.
„Better?“ she noded at your words giving you a small thank you. She looked somehow ashamed of herself, looking into her hands that were resting in her lap. Suddenly her head shot back at you with wide eyes.
„You were digging in my purse?!“
„I just saved your life!“
„I swear to God-“

office hours
the one where reader is stressed about her exam and Spencer makes her take a break.
wc 786
tags + the rundown: fem!reader, uni!reader, prof!spencer, fluff!, she is a grad student, boyfriend!spencer, we love him!, pet names, i think that’s all
a/n: in case you need a kinktober break! this is not me hiding from the fact that i’m too nervous to post smut! not at all! feedback always welcome, say hi to me, hugs and kisses always.
~
“You’re distracting me,” you chide, not bothering to look up from your laptop.
“Sorry.”
Spencer isn’t sorry.
He continues to gently blow air on your forehead from across the table as he watches you poorly attempt to focus on studying.
The two of you are holed up in one of the campus library study rooms, which Spencer reserves every other Friday evening to hold office hours for his students.
You rarely join him, given his knack for being a distraction. But it was a slow day, he’d said, and your grad school exam was on Monday.
The problem? Your study guide is nearly twelve pages long and your boyfriend is blowing air at you from across the table.
“I’m going to fail,” you groan, pressing your fingers to your temples.
“You won’t fail,” he says gently, returning to the stack of essays he’s grading.
“Spencer, it’s like I haven’t attended a single class for the past three months. This study guide is stupid.”
“But you have attended class. Every single class. You’re overwhelming yourself by trying to review everything at once.”
You squeeze your eyes shut, feeling a headache start to drum in the back of your head.
“And you’ve been staring at your screen for hours without a break. It’s going to give you a headache.”
Damn him.
“Maybe I’m not smart enough for a master’s.”
Spencer hums, unimpressed. You don’t mean it, you both know that.
He sets his pen down, reaches beneath the table and scoops your legs up to rest on his lap.
“You need to take a break, honey,” he begins, running his hands up and down your outstretched calves.
You lower your head to the table, exhausted and defeated.
“I don’t want to take a break, I want to get through this study guide.”
“You’ll have all weekend to study. I’ll help you.”
“But we’re busy this weekend. We need to go grocery shopping, and there’s laundry—why do we own so many clothes? And the closet’s a mess—”
You’re almost too caught up in your ramblings to notice Spencer slowly pulling your laptop toward himself, your calves abandoned. Your head shoots up, and you slam your hands on top of his, glaring at him.
“Do not, Spencer.”
He sighs.
“The closet’s been a mess for weeks. You can’t stress-clean to avoid your test.”
“Says you.”
That earns you a reprimanding look and a poke to your leg.
“And, you do realize that half the things you’re suddenly worried about I can handle, right?”
You stare at your wonderful, slightly-annoying boyfriend.
“You never get the bread I like when you grocery shop.”
He laughs so deep that you can feel his stomach bouncing from where your feet are resting.
“Okay, I’ll make sure to get the bread you like. The point is you don’t need to be pushing yourself like this. It’ll only make your exam go poorly.”
His convincing almost works, until you recall your syllabus. This exam is worth nearly a quarter of your grade.
Spencer watches the train of thought play out on your face, sighing at the chewing you’ve begun on your lip.
You want to cry.
“Angel.”
You ignore him, eyes trained on the table. He nudges your leg with his foot.
“My darling, darling girl.”
Still nothing.
“Baby.”
You finally glance up at him, begging the tears that are prickling the corners of your eyes to retreat.
“Yes?” you manage to whisper.
“Five minutes. Go take a walk outside for at least five minutes.”
“But—“
He gently, firmly, says your name, and you know it’s no use arguing.
“We’ve been in this room for almost three hours. Please.”
He stands, letting your legs fall to the floor and finally closing your laptop, moving it to his side of the table.
He makes his way to you, brushing a single, stray tear from your cheek and pressing a kiss to your forehead as you stand to leave.
“Fine. But because I want to, not because you’re making me.”
He accepts the last of your whining with a soft laugh.
“Of course.”
Spencer is right, because of course he’s right. The evening air immediately eases the tension in your shoulders, and five minutes quickly turn into twenty. By the time you make your way back, Spencer and his car are waiting outside the library.
“Office hours are over. Do you feel better?”
He gets out of the driver’s seat to open your door. You give him a smile and a nod, a grateful kiss on his arm as you settle in.
“I’m glad, baby. Dinner?”
“Yes, please. You’ve had me locked in that room for three hours, I’m starving.”
He laughs, closing the door behind you.

I really want fries as a finishing the week treat but it’s so cold out and I’m too lazy to get them. But I was thinking about Quinn and pregnant reader in that situation. Quinn would give her that 🫤 look and sigh after she’s been going on and on about her pregnancy craving and no matter the weather or time of night he always goes out to get it or find the closest thing to it. He’s such a softie and drops everything to do anything for her
It starts off innocently enough — just a passing comment as you're cooking dinner.
You’re standing at the stove, stirring a pot of soup, when you spot the empty pickle jar on the counter. The sight of it stops you mid-stir, an ache blooming in your chest that you hadn’t even realised was there. The sharp tang of vinegar was just a memory now, thanks to Quinn, who had polished off the last one earlier. You stared at the jar for a long moment, then inhaled deeply as if to steel yourself, catching the faint scent of peanut butter still lingering in the air from his afternoon snack.
“We’re out of pickles,” you announce, the words coming out sharper than you’d intended.
Quinn doesn’t even look up from where he’s leaning against the counter, scrolling through his phone.
“We’re going grocery shopping tomorrow,” he replies casually, like it’s no big deal. “We’ll grab some more then.”
You nod, swallowing down the disappointment. Of course, it’s fine. Quinn already does so much for you — too much, honestly. He doesn’t complain when you wake him up in the middle of the night to rub your back, doesn’t bat an eye when you cry over commercials. The least you can do is manage a craving for one night.
But by the time the soup bowls are empty and the dishes are drying in the rack, the craving is no longer something you can brush aside. It’s no longer just pickles. It’s pickles and peanut butter. Crunchy peanut butter, specifically, the kind you already have in the pantry. And the thought of it — salty and tangy and just a little sweet — is like a loop stuck in your brain. You can feel it growing, blooming into an obsession you can’t shake no matter how hard you try.
So you finally bring it up as you’re both clearing the table.
“You know, pickles and peanut butter would taste so good right now,” you say, hoping maybe speaking it out loud will get it out of your system.
Quinn pauses, plate in hand, and gives you a skeptical glance. “Pickles and peanut butter? Together?”
You nod, setting down the glasses you’ve just picked up from the table. “Yeah. Like, on the same spoon. Or maybe a pickle dipped in peanut butter,” you add, tilting your head thoughtfully.
He squints at you like you’ve just suggested something completely alien. “You don’t even like pickles.”
“I know,” you say, exasperated, “but it’s a pregnancy craving. I can’t explain it.”
Quinn smirks, a playful glint in his eye. “So, the baby’s got you craving… that?”
“Apparently,” you say with a shrug, trying to sound casual, though you can feel the craving getting worse now that you’ve spoken it into existence.
It comes up again later as you sit cross-legged on the couch, scrolling mindlessly on your phone while Quinn flips through TV channels.
“Pickles and peanut butter,” you murmur under your breath, almost to yourself and from the corner of your eye, you catch Quinn’s side-eye, his brow quirking as he lowers the remote slightly.
“You’re still thinking about that?” he asks, his voice laced with amusement, though there’s a hint of skepticism, like maybe he’s hoping this craving had run its course.
You glance up, shrugging as you bite your lip.
“Yeah,” you admit, and then, add quickly, “but it’s fine. I can wait until tomorrow.”
Quinn’s gaze lingers on you for a beat, and you can feel the weight of it. He’s studying you, half waiting for you to crack and half trying to decide if he needs to intervene now or risk hearing about pickles and peanut butter in his sleep.
“You sure?” he says finally, his tone light, but there’s something else beneath it — like he knows you’re holding back.
“Positive,” you say, nodding firmly.
And for a while, you convince yourself that it's true. That you're completely, utterly and positively sure that you can wait until tomorrow.
So you curl up under the blanket with Quinn, his arm draped loosely over your shoulders, his fingers lazily tracing patterns on your arm — a quiet, familiar rhythm that usually soothes you without fail. The TV hums softly in the background, and his chest rises and falls against your side, steady and warm. It should be enough.
But it’s not.
The thought of that perfect salty-sweet combination gnaws at you, persistent and unrelenting. You try to distract yourself, to focus on the show Quinn seems semi-invested in, but every passing second feels like the craving is growing claws, digging deeper into your resolve.
You take a deep breath, glancing up at him. His profile is soft in the glow of the TV, his expression relaxed, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he absently strokes your shoulder. He’s content, comfortable. You almost feel bad for what you’re about to do.
Almost.
“Before I say something,” you start, your voice tentative, measured, the prelude to what you know is a plea, “just remember that I’m carrying your baby.”
Quinn doesn’t even blink. His lips quirk into a small smile, his thumb pausing mid-circle on your arm.
“Our baby,” he corrects gently, his tone warm, teasing, like he knows exactly where this is going. Of course he knows. He always knows.
You hesitate for a beat, building up your courage before blurting, “I’m really, really craving pickles and peanut butter.”
His head falls back against the couch, a low groan rumbling from his chest as he drags a hand down his face.
“Baby,” he says, his voice full of mock exasperation, “it’s pouring outside. You said it could wait until tomorrow.”
“I thought it could,” you insist, sitting up straighter, as if that’ll help your case. “But I’ve been thinking about it since dinner, Quinn. I don’t think I can sleep until I have it.”
He looks at you, his brows furrowing just enough to show he’s debating his options, though you both know there’s only one.
“I wouldn’t ask unless I was desperate,” you tack on, your tone earnest as if that might tip the scales further in your favor.
Quinn exhales a long, dramatic sigh, one that would almost sound convincing if not for the way his lips twitch at the edges, betraying the affection underneath. There’s no real frustration in him — just the soft resignation of someone entirely smitten, hopelessly incapable of saying no.
“You haven’t even asked me anything yet,” he points out, tilting his head as he meets your gaze, his eyes crinkling at the corners with a flicker of amusement he’s trying not to show.
It’s infuriatingly endearing.
“Will you please go get pickles?” you ask, your tone so sweet, so endearingly earnest, that he doesn’t stand a chance.
That gets him.
His lips twitch, fighting off a grin, as he pushes himself to his feet, stretching with a dramatic groan.
“The things I do for you,” he mutters under his breath, the corners of his mouth betraying the tease.
He disappears down the hall, and you hear the faint shuffle of a jacket being pulled off a hook, the jangle of keys being found. When he returns, he’s already slipping his arms into the sleeves, his shoulders settling with the kind of resigned acceptance that says he knows this is his life now — and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
He moves toward the door, stooping to pull on his sneakers, the drizzle outside faintly tapping against the windows. Just as he’s tying the laces, he glances back over his shoulder, one brow quirking in that playful, knowing way that makes your heart squeeze.
“Anything else while I’m out?” he asks, his tone warm and teasing, like he’s already resorted to a grocery list. “Ice cream? Chocolate syrup? A gallon of peanut butter to get us through the next week?”
You laugh, shaking your head as you peek over the back of the couch.
“Just the pickles. And maybe… the good kind?” You ask innocently, like maybe you’re asking for too much at this late hour.
Quinn groans, a sound full of exaggerated exasperation, but the grin tugging at his lips gives him away.
“The good kind,” he repeats, his tone dripping with mock seriousness, like the words themselves are some great inconvenience. “I’ll see what I can do.”
But there’s no hiding the fondness in his eyes as he steps closer, moving behind the sofa. He plants his hands on the cushions, leaning over until his face is just above yours. His hand comes up to cup your cheek, his thumb brushing lightly over your skin with a quiet kind of devotion. Then, he presses a kiss to your temple, lingering just long enough that you can feel the warmth of him, the steady comfort of his presence.
“You owe me for this,” he murmurs, his voice dropping to that warm, teasing tone that makes your heart flip.
You tilt your head toward him, grinning as you meet his gaze, your affection spilling over. “I’m giving you a baby, Quinn.”
He exhales a dramatic sigh, rolling his eyes like he’s indulging some monumental injustice. But the way his lips twitch, the faint curve of a smile tugging at the corners, gives him away.
“Yeah, you are,” he murmurs, almost like he’s talking to himself, his thumb brushing along your cheek in a gesture so instinctive, so achingly gentle, it makes your chest tighten.
There’s a flicker in his eyes of pure adoration that doesn’t even try to hide. It’s the kind of look that says a thousand things he never could — about how much he loves you, how much this life you’re building together means to him, how he’d cross any distance, brave any storm, just to see you smile.
And then he huffs, a soft sound somewhere between affection and surrender, before leaning down further, his breath warm against your skin. His lips brush against yours, soft and deliberate, the kind of kiss that’s all tenderness and quiet longing. It lingers, unhurried, his hand cupping your cheek as if to keep you right there, as though this moment is his anchor before he steps out into the cold.
“Be right back.”

Humidity clung to the air, and although the sun had long set, the heat hung heavy in the fairgrounds but that didn't keep the whole town from coming out to the carnival that night. You lived in a small town with not a lot to do but every year the same carnival came through and set up shop for two weeks, attracting people within an hour's drive, and every year since you were sixteen you worked there for some extra cash. Back when you were younger, your earnings tended to go towards the booze you brought to the parties in the middle of the woods, surrounded by the familiar faces of people you grew up with and their siblings. Now that you were in your twenties, that money was put toward rent and a car payment.
When you were sixteen, you had a very different idea of what your life would look like by now. Hell, you didn't even think you'd be living in this town, let alone working the same shitty waitress job at the same shitty restaurant while you tried and failed to come up with a better career path. Money was tight and the last thing you wanted to do was move back in with your parents, so you picked up extra jobs here and there. The carnival wasn't a bad gig. Pay was based on seniority and since you had worked there for so many years, the money was good and the jobs were mostly pretty fun, but it was only two weeks and you would be back to pinching pennies again.
But a week before the carnival was scheduled to arrive, a handsome man with dark hair, even darker cowboy hat and yellow aviators strolled into your restaurant with a cocky smirk and requested to sit in your section, and everything changed.
You had greeted him like any other table and subtly stole glances his way while he studied the menu, trying to figure out if you recognized him. No, you surely would remember him. Aside from his obvious good looks, he stuck out amongst the usual crowd. Dark grey, form fitting suit with a matching tie and cowboy boots? That... you definitely would have remembered.
He leaned back in the booth, one arm draped across the back of the worn cushion while his eyes slowly dragged down your frame. You glanced around nervously, suddenly feeling like you were being judged, then his eyes traveled back up and stopped on your name tag. He repeated your name out loud as if it were a question and finally looked into your eyes. His intensity sent a shiver down your spine but you nodded, confirming your name, and he smiled. It was a slow smile, one that began as a twitch in the corner of his mouth and tugged to one side, pulling his dark mustache with it until his lips spread so wide you could see his teeth. They were straight and he actually still had all of them. Yeah, he definitely wasn't from your hometown.
He didn't come back into the restaurant after that, but it wouldn't be the last time you saw him.
Two days later you made a pit stop by the Piggly Wiggly for some groceries. You made your way through the parking lot to your beat up car, stopping dead in your tracks when he came into view. He was leaning casually against your driver's side door, one ankle hooked over the other and still wearing that suit. Or maybe it was a different suit. You couldn't remember but what you did remember was the bead of sweat that trickled down from underneath his Stetson, leaving an enticing wet streak along the side of his head. He said your name and smiled, trying to disarm you, but you were still wary. He held up both palms flat as if to prove he wasn't dangerous but something told you his hands were just as threatening as any other weapon.
"Got a minute to talk, sugar?"
You glanced around the parking lot and swallowed, every natural instinct screaming at you to run back inside the store for help but instead you found yourself slowly walking towards him, as if being pulled by a magnet or some other enchanting force.
It was a bit of a blur after that. He flashed his badge, Jack Daniels, it read, with the word Statesmen being tossed around quite a bit while he explained what he did for a living, all of it sounding rather impressive but also confusing. Espionage. Spies. Undercover.
"What's all that got to do with me?" you had said. He smiled.
"Glad you asked."
Apparently he had been trying to track down a dangerous arms dealer for years. With some information Jack squeezed out of a low level guard, he discovered the arms dealer was able to be so successful because he traveled with the carnival to evade local and federal law enforcement. Always being on the move kept him under the radar, and now Jack had his sights set on taking him down when the carnival arrived in your town, but he needed help.
Jack needed someone who was on the inside, someone who earned years of trust by working for the same people and living in the same town, someone completely unsuspecting.
You.
At first, you said no, unwilling to put yourself at risk even though he promised he would be hiding in the shadows and would be in constant communication with you through an earpiece and camera. Then he offered up a few thousand dollars to sweeten the deal and your resolve crumbled. He promised you would be under government protection and your involvement would be minimal: you just needed to find the target and let Jack know which booth he was going to work. Plus, you really needed the money.
That was how you found yourself in the mid-afternoon before your shift started being suited up with impressive, high tech gear. Jack watched patiently from the corner of the trailer. For the first time, he wasn't wearing a suit. He elected to wear a pair of dark wash jeans and a white tshirt that clung to his broad chest but he was still sporting his signature cowboy hat. A beautiful woman named Ginger outfitted you with a nearly invisible earpiece and installed a microscopic camera in the button of your polo shirt. She assured you there was a tiny microphone in the camera and that Jack and the entire team assigned to the case would be watching and ready to jump into action if anything went sideways.
Simple enough, you thought.
"How're you holdin' up, darlin'?" Jack mumbled, pinching your elbow between his fingers as he led you out of the unsuspecting double wide that currently hid Ginger and all her expensive equipment and into his Bronco.
"Uh..." you began, throat suddenly feeling dry when he started the car and turned onto the familiar stretch of road. They had set up a base in the woods about two miles away from the carnival which meant you would be there in less than five minutes. Your head was spinning, the adrenaline suddenly coursing through your veins and making you lightheaded. "Not so great, actually."
He turned his head and studied you for a moment before pulling off the road and throwing the car into park. He shifted in his seat so he could face you, one elbow resting on the back of his seat and the other on the steering wheel. "I ain't gonna let anythin' bad happen to you, you hear me?" You hadn't realized your breathing was becoming more labored and your face felt hot. He was probably just worried you were about to pass out and that's why he reached out to cup the back of your neck, forcing your attention off the carnival peeking through the trees and onto his face. Your gaze lingered on his dark brown eyes and chiseled jaw and hooked nose that looked like it would be perfect nestled between your thighs.
"You promise?" you whispered, tone a little more sultry than you intended. He swallowed and nodded.
"'Course. I'll be right there the whole time. All's you gotta do is tell me where he's gonna be and I'll do all the dirty work," he told you with a wink. Your eyes darkened a fraction, having a completely different idea of what kind of dirty work you'd like him to do before you blinked and snapped out of it. You chalked it up to your nerves but it was too late. He saw it in your eyes and he clenched his jaw, his gaze flickering down to your lips and then to the camera in your shirt before slowly pulling his hand away from the back of your neck.
"What code word d'you wanna use in case you need help and can't say it?" he asked, shifting back into work mode and merging into traffic.
You thought it over for a moment, grateful for the distraction.
"Hot chocolate."
He cocked an eyebrow and grinned. "Hot chocolate?"
"Yeah, I don't think it's something I would accidentally say because who the hell would order hot chocolate in this heat?"
He smiled wider. "Fair enough."
Jack dropped you off at the entrance of the carnival, reminding you he wouldn't be far behind and to stay alert. You bobbed and weaved your way through the crowded thoroughfare, the late afternoon sun beating down on the masses as they pushed wagons of children or carried various prizes under their arms while drinking cold lemonade or licking ice cream to combat the heat. You managed to get to the air conditioned office five minutes before your shift started and clocked in before examining the schedule. Jack had warned you the target wouldn't use his real name, so he made you study multiple photos of him the day before. Balding, but a dark horseshoe of hair curved around his head. He had a mustache, too, but not like Jack. The target's mustache was bushy and unkept, but Jack warned you that could have changed. He had a paunchy belly and he was approximately 5'10" but the most notable feature was a wide, pale scar that stretched from his right elbow to halfway down his forearm.
You glanced around the somewhat crowded office. Nobody seemed to fit that description so you focused on the schedule. You were set to work the lemonade stand. One of the more boring jobs, but at least you were with one of your good friends, Stephanie, who was working the candied apple stand next door.
"All good?" you heard Jack's gravelly voice echo through your earpiece. You had no idea how to answer that without looking like you were talking to yourself so you turned to a mirror and gave a quick thumbs up. He chuckled and you had to bite back a smile. "Alright, where are you workin' so I can get set up nearby?"
Again, you weren't sure how to answer but just then Stephanie breezed through the door. You called out her name and waved as she punched in and headed over to you, giving you a sweaty hug.
"We're working together tonight. You're on apples, I'm on lemonade next door," you told her, hearing Jack confirm your location in your ear.
"Awesome, should be a slow night after dinner," she replied, hooking her arm through yours and leading you back out into the busy dirt road lined with vendors and food carts.
As she predicted, you were rather occupied until the sun set and people began to indulge in fried dough and rides, leaving your little section of the fairgrounds quiet. For the first time in hours you glanced around, wondering if you could spot Jack, but he was no where to be found.
"So, did you meet any guys so far this summer?" Stephanie asked you, leaning over her counter and popping her gum loudly between her molars.
"Nah, not really," you replied, feeling the tips of your ears burn, knowing Jack was listening. "You?"
"Just one but he turned out to be an asshole," she said, rolling her eyes dramatically. "We gotta get out of this town, girl. I swear there's no one good left. I'm either related to them or already dated them and I can't stand any of 'em."
"Yeah, maybe one day," you replied, glancing around again.
"I'm serious. Maybe we oughta make a plan, y'know? Like we always said we would? Ain't you sick of waiting tables?"
"Like you wouldn't believe," you muttered. "But where would we go? We don't know anyone outside of here."
"I got a cousin up north, maybe we can visit her and see how we like it."
For a second you almost forgot the mission when, out of the corner of your eye, you spotted a man matching the target's description disappear into the crowd. You squinted but you only saw the back of him and he was quickly getting away.
"Hey, can you cover for me?" you asked, already tossing your apron off and smoothing down your skirt.
"Yeah, sure. Been dead here for the past hour, take your time."
You hustled down the street, pushing people out of the way as you tried to catch up with the man you saw.
"Sugar, I lost ya, slow down," Jack's voice crackled in your ear.
"Can't, I think I saw him," you replied.
"Do not engage, y'hear me?" Jack said sternly. He sounded breathless now, no doubt rushing to catch up with you.
"I won't, I just wanna see where he's going."
You broke through the crowd and swiveled your head from side to side, desperately trying to spot the balding man. Now that you thought about it, he looked like he was wearing the same color uniform you had on. Your pulse raced as you turned around frantically, and just when you thought you lost him you spotted him walking up the steps to the house of mirrors. When he reached out to open the door, you saw the telltale scar and gasped.
"Jack! It's him!" you said, racing through the crowd again, dodging groups of children laughing and eating cotton candy.
"... stay... where are... losin' you-" you heard Jack's voice cutting in and out through your earpiece but the excitement got the best of you and you charged forward into the house of mirrors, the door slamming shut behind you, leaving you in a mostly darkened room. The only sounds you could hear were muffled conversations from families walking by.
"Jack?" you whispered, tapping on the earpiece and taking a few shaky steps forward. "Jack, if you can hear me, I'm in the house of mirrors. He's-"
"Looking for someone?" a man's deep voice said from over your shoulder, making you jump. You swiveled around and tried not to gasp in fear. It was him: Vic Leary, aka The Falcon. It was almost laughable how Jack had been chasing the man for years only to have him directly in front of you after a few hours. He took a menacing step forward and you swallowed tightly.
"Yeah, actually. I'm looking for my friend," you said, taking a small step backwards, a step deeper into the attraction.
"That right?" Vic sneered, taking yet another step closer. "Well I'm the only one here. Sure you ain't looking for me?"
You shook your head vehemently. "N-nope. I'm supposed to meet a friend here any minute, he's meeting me with some hot chocolate," you said the last part loudly and Vic frowned. Then he seemed to piece together that you were bugged or maybe he just saw his opportunity to strike because he lunged forward. Luckily, you were prepared and stumbled backwards out of reach, causing him to fall forward on his hands and knees. You spun around and raced through the dizzying hall of mirrors, Vic's angry curses and threats shouting after you.
The next tunnel had a wall of mirrors that shifted, causing you to feel like the floor was moving. You stretched your arms out and blinked rapidly, stumbling through and glancing over your shoulder in a panic, wondering where he went. It was quiet. His yelling stopped. Did Jack find him?
The next room was a literal maze, the walls and ceilings covered in mirrors, some curved and warped, some jagged and angular. You couldn't think of a worse place to hide and you needed to get the hell out of there.
"Can anyone hear me?" you whispered into your polo shirt, wincing when all you heard was sharp feedback in your ear. You turned a corner, jumping when you saw movement but calmed down when you realized it was your own reflection six times over. You heaved a sigh of relief and took another look around, trying to decide where to go next when a big, sweaty body jumped out from behind a mirror in front of you, tackling you to the ground. You screamed bloody murder and tried to squirm away, but he had you pinned to the ground with a hand around your throat. You scratched and kicked and yelled but it was no use. His fingers gripped the side of your throat and he watched with a sick smile as you struggled to drag in air, all the while clawing at the backs of his hands so hard, you drew blood. And just when you thought you might pass out, a black cowboy boot swung from behind your head and kicked Vic directly across the jaw, making him yelp in pain and fall backwards.
You coughed and scrambled away, clutching your throat and looking up to find Jack, his shoulders and chest heaving and his eyebrows pinched together in fury. Without taking his eyes off Vic, who was cupping his mouth, his hand collecting blood, he asked, "you alright, sugar?"
You could only nod and he told you to wait for him outside, but when you stood and took a few steps back the way you came, you saw Vic stand up and run in the opposite direction, nimbly dodging the mirrors, too familiar with the maze to be slowed down. Nostrils flared, Jack reached for his belt and grabbed a braided piece of leather. His thumb pressed down on a small button and like magic, the rest of the whip unfurled at his side. He then spun it over his head twice before snapping it forward, circling around the target's neck and yanking him back to the ground with a grunt.
Jack disappeared deeper into the maze, his grip tight. You looked over your shoulder, back to the entrance, then groaned and followed Jack. When you rounded the corner, he was towering over the suspect, whip back on his belt, Vic looking like he was knocked out cold. You peered around the last mirror, hiding from view while Jack pressed something on his watch and began to speak to a small hologram of an older looking man with a beard. He was telling him that the suspect was in custody and needed backup while he dug out a pair of metal handcuffs with his free hand.
Jack was distracted and didn't realize Vic had begun to move, but you did. When Jack's back was turned, Vic quietly rose to his feet and pulled out a knife from the back of his pants. He raised his arm above his head, ready to plunge the blade into Jack's throat. You raced forward and swung your leg out, hitting the backs of his knees with your shin and bringing him back down to the ground with a thud before he had a chance to inflict any harm.
Swirling around, Jack ended the call without warning and punched Vic directly in the nose. You heard a sickening crunch of bone and a howl of pain from the man's throat, but just as Jack was about to grab his arms and haul him to his feet, Vic rolled to the side and jumped up with a surprising amount of agility. Jack groaned and reached behind him, pulling out what appeared to be a lasso. He calmly glared after Vic, who was nearly to the exit, while circling the rope above his head. The lasso began to glow an icy blue, mesmerizing you for a moment until he snapped it down with an electric crack, wrapping and pinching the rope around Vic's lower leg.
You couldn't believe your eyes when his leg cleanly and completely severed below the knee. Slapping both palms over your mouth to muffle your screams, you curled up on the floor and watched as Jack approached Vic, who was making noises so pained and fearful that you were certain you would hear them in your nightmares for the rest of your life.
Jack was handcuffing him and warning him he shouldn't have run while the man sobbed pathetically in a pool of his own blood. You just stared, your whole body trembling at the carnage, completely numb. You didn't even hear when three other agents breezed past you to collect the target, followed shortly thereafter by a small cleaning crew wearing protective gear from head to toe. Suddenly the maze, which seemed so massive before, was cramped and making you feel claustrophobic.
His eyes finally met yours once Vic was officially in custody. His expression went from one of relief to one of deep concern when he saw the state you were in and he rushed forward to collect you off the floor.
"Hey, don't look at that," he murmured, but your gaze was still pinned on the blood staining the floor. "Eyes on me, darlin'."
You forced your eyes away from the mess and onto him, like he requested, but you were finding it difficult to breathe. Each inhale was a struggle, like your lungs couldn't expand all the way, and each exhale left your ears ringing.
"Get me out of here, Jack."
He nodded once and helped you stand. With an arm wrapped around your shoulders, he ushered you back through the maze towards the entrance. Once you were able to take in a deep breath of fresh, humid air, you started to feel a little better but the adrenaline was still coursing through your body, making you feel like you were practically vibrating.
People streamed past you laughing and joking, blissfully unaware of what just happened while you sat on a nearby bench with your head between your legs. Jack soothingly rubbed your upper back and waited for you to calm down. Your energy was too intense, the vivid images of what you just witnessed too strong and Jack seemed to sense it.
"Here," he said, leaning back and lifting his hips from the bench. Your eyes instantly locked onto his lap, where his fingers began to remove a small flask from his belt buckle. When he handed it to you, hoping the alcohol would help calm your nerves, you just continued to stare, all wild eyed and rabid.
"Have a little, it'll help," he urged while trying to ignore the hungry look in your eye. You blinked slowly and, with shaky fingers, took the flask and unscrewed the top. You winced a little at the burn but a minute later, your stomach felt warm and your muscles relaxed. You handed it back to him and he took a sip himself without breaking eye contact with you, then fastened it back onto his belt. You leaned forward, once again feeling inexplicably drawn to him, and brushed your fingertips lightly over the flask. You were playing with fire and you knew it. His eyes bore into yours with a blazing heat and he whispered, "you need somethin' stronger, sugar?"
You sunk your teeth into your lower lip and nodded. He stood up and grabbed your hand, glancing around the fairgrounds manically, the adrenaline from the past twenty minutes getting the best of both of you, it seemed.
The choices were limited and the closest area with any semblance of privacy was the bathroom and you both seemed disgusted by that prospect because he muttered fuck it under his breath and dragged you off the main road towards the dark parking lot.
Once he reached his Bronco, he twisted around and violently yanked at the buttons on your polo shirt. You yelped in surprise but when he opened his hand and showed you the button he tore off with the camera attached, you nodded. He flung it into the mud and dropped his earpiece, then you scrambled to do the same. Once you were as alone as you possibly could be, he pinned you against the side of his truck and pinched your jaw between his thumb and forefinger, tilting your head up to look at him.
"You sure?" was all he asked, pupils blown wide.
You nodded. "Please."
He groaned and crashed his mouth against yours, dropping his hand from your jaw to wrap around the back of your neck. He tasted like Jameson and you imagined you did, too. "Such a polite little thing," he whispered before plunging his tongue inside your mouth and licking past your teeth. You were moments away from unzipping his jeans and letting him take you right then and there when you heard a chorus of laughter from the next row of cars and you pulled away, gasping for air. Jack appeared just as wrecked as you felt, eyes all wild and skin hot with arousal.
"C'mon," he said, as if reading your mind he tugged you away from the car so he could open the door to the backseat. You practically launched yourself inside and by the time you spun around he was slamming the door shut behind him. He gazed at you for just a moment before shedding his cowboy hat and pressing your body into the seat, picking up where he left off. You took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of leather and gunpowder and his cologne, all ingrained in the fabric after years under his care.
His lips traveled down, grazing against your jaw and nipping at the spot behind your ear. His mustache tickled your skin, making you giggle, and you felt him smile against your throat at the sound. His lips latched onto your neck, sucking a bruise there while your hands dipped underneath the hem of his white tshirt. The fabric bunched up around your wrists the higher your fingers traveled up his torso, reveling in the way the muscles in his back twitched under your touch. Then his hips dropped against yours, resting his weight heavy between your legs, and you sucked in a sharp breath.
"Jack?" you whispered hoarsely.
"Mhm?"
"I-I want you," you stammered when his thumbs brushed over your breasts, nipples hardening through your shirt. "Want you so bad."
"You got me, sweetheart. I'm all yours," he mumbled, teeth scraping gently over your collarbone as he continued to move achingly slow further and further down your body.
You moaned and arched your back, pressing your chest into him. "Jack, I want you now," you tried again, and he clicked his tongue with a smirk.
"Where'd those manners run off to?"
"Please," you groaned. He hoisted himself up, holding his weight above you, the palms of his hands pressing into the seat on either side of your ribs.
"Say it again f'me, sugar. Y'just sound so pretty when you're beggin' for it."
"Please," you whispered this time, then dragged your hand down his stomach, stopping to cup his erection through the thick denim of his jeans. You rubbed the palm of your hand up and down enticingly, drawing a quiet moan from his throat. He hissed and pressed himself into your hand, rocking his hips and watching your fingers work him up and down. "Please, Jack, I need you."
His eyes flashed up to yours once before he sat back on his heels, fumbling with the tiny flask on his belt with an urgency that told you he heard exactly what he wanted to hear. He tossed both items on the floor before undoing his jeans and then, seeming to remember you were still fully clothed, dragged his hands up your thighs and under your skirt. His palms cupped your ass and squeezed before hooking his fingers around the edge of your panties and tugging them down. You lifted your hips to help, feeling slightly disappointed there wouldn't be enough room or time for either of you to fully undress, but you would make do.
"Goddamn, that's a pretty sight," he groaned when he pushed your skirt up enough to get a good look between your legs. He ran the pad of his thumb through your slit and you began to squirm impatiently. "Now, normally I'd prefer to take my time," he began, and your heart thundered wildly in your chest when he pushed his jeans down and pulled out his cock, hard and leaking. "But it would appear we don't have the luxury today, darlin'." He used one hand to steady your hip and the other to line himself up with your entrance, then you held your breath when he started to press forward, parting your walls and forcing you to stretch around his girth.
"Shit," you whined, tipping your head back and squeezing your eyes shut.
"Yeah, that's it," he whispered, watching as he slowly disappeared inside you, only looking back to your face once he was buried to the hilt. "How's that? Feelin' better now?" he asked a little breathlessly. You nodded and forced your eyes to open.
"Feels good," you murmured, licking your dry lips and gasping when he began to move. "Yeah, just like that, faster - please faster," you added hastily when you remembered his comment earlier about manners. The corner of his mouth curled up into a smirk before falling forward onto his elbows. He tugged one of your knees up so you hooked your leg around his waist, spreading your hips wide before feverishly latching his mouth onto yours, muffling your noises when he began to snap his hips faster and deeper.
"This what you needed?" he whispered in your ear. You tightened your arms around his neck, holding him close, the desire suddenly overwhelming to have him completely consume you and keep you in the safety of his arms. "Needed me to fuck you and turn that little brain of yours off for a while? Hm?"
"Yes," you admitted shamelessly. He was fucking everywhere. His mouth was drifting from your lips to your neck to your ear, his hands groping and gliding along your stomach or legs, his cock sliding smoothly in and out, each time catching on that one spot that made you see stars. Even his body heat felt like it was fully encompassing you. And he was right: it was exactly what you needed.
"Christ, too fuckin' good, sweetheart," he breathed, his hips stuttering for a moment before resuming a punishing pace. The way his lips melted against your own while the tip of his cock reached a depth inside you didn't know was possible was making your vision blur and your breath ragged. You were so caught up in the moment that you hadn't yet considered you wouldn't see him again after that night. Nor did you have a chance to realize how long you had been gone from the lemonade stand. Nothing else outside of his car mattered.
"Jack," you whimpered as heat began to lick and wrap around your spine. Your stomach tightened and your mouth was wide open, pulling in mouthfuls of air as quickly as you could. You were so close but you just needed a little more. He was busy pushing your polo shirt up and yanking down your bra, his hot tongue swiping greedily over your nipples one at a time with an appreciative groan before he sunk his teeth into your soft flesh, no doubt trying to leave a mark to remember him by.
"Love the way you say my name, darlin'. Music to my ears."
As if he could read your mind, his had slipped between your bodies and began to thumb at your clit. Your thighs tensed and you cried out, his name the only word your brain was able to conjure up, which, based on his enthusiastic reaction, pleased him greatly. You couldn't stop yourself. Your body began to meet him, thrust for thrust, your hips rolling, matching his rhythm and forcing his thumb to apply more pressure. Before you even had a chance to warn him your orgasm crashed down around you, so powerful and intense that it sent you reeling, his name and a string of unintelligible curses the only thing falling from your lips. And he fucking loved it.
"Oh, look at you," he groaned, "pretty little thing, all fucked out. Goddamn, you're gonna make me come, darlin'." His large hand splayed across your ribs and he stared, slack jawed, at the way your tits bounced from the force of his thrusts. "Shit, shit, shit," he grumbled, his jaw locking as he closed in on his release. "Where, sugar?"
"Inside," you moaned, trying to force your eyes to stay open so you could watch. He clicked his tongue against his teeth and dragged his eyes back up to your face.
"Don't say that."
"Please," you whispered, and you could see his resolve crumbling.
"Fuck," he groaned, then he shifted so he could grab onto your hips with both hands. It didn't take much longer, but each thrust after that was harsh and unforgiving until his body stilled and he came with a broken moan that you made sure to commit to memory. He panted for air and tilted his head back when he was done, his fingers still gripping your waist. An incoming call came through, lighting up the face of his high-tech watch, but he ignored it. Once he caught his breath and he began to soften inside you, he rolled his head forward, gazing down at you in admiration. "You're somethin' else," he rasped, the corner of his mouth pulling up into a half-smirk.
"You sound surprised," you teased.
"I am, but not because of this," he said, leaning forward to press a soft kiss against your lips. He slid out of you with a grunt and you sharply sucked in air at the loss. His dark eyes lingered a moment on his spend dripping out of you before gently fixing your bra and top. The sweet gesture made you smile.
"What, then?"
He grinned and tucked himself back in his jeans, then handed you your panties. "You saved my hide back there, brave girl," he murmured, pinching your chin affectionately. "Kickin' his legs out like that. Didn't know you had it in you."
You shrugged and tugged your underwear back on. "I didn't really think about it, he was going to stab you, I had to do something."
He hummed and leaned back in the seat, watching as you fixed your skirt and tried to tame your hair in the mirror before spotting his discarded cowboy hat on the floor. You grinned and picked it up, plopping it onto your head with a giggle. "How do I look?"
"Fuckin' beautiful," he said, making you laugh, "although you're doin' things a little backwards, sugar."
"What do you mean?" you asked, taking it off to see if you put it on wrong. He smiled and gently took the hat from your fingers and put it back on your head.
"The rule is, you wear a man's Stetson, you gotta ride the cowboy, but seein' as we did that already..." he trailed off and you giggled again when you finally understood. "But I suppose it depends on who you ask. Could mean somethin' else, too."
"Oh yeah? What's that?"
"Some say if the cowboy lets the lady wear his hat then he's interested in seein' her again," he said softly, watching as you became flustered at the suggestion.
"Oh," you breathed, feeling your skin heat up under his gaze. Reality slowly began to seep in. Now that Jack found his man, he would go back to wherever he came from and your boring life would go back to normal. But then he hooked a finger under your chin so you would focus back on him.
"Would you like that?"
"Would I ... yeah, of course, but-"
"I heard what you were sayin' to your friend. 'Bout wantin' to move?" he said, dropping his hand and shifting his weight. "What if we had a spot for you at the agency? Maybe doin' somethin' with Ginger, learn the ropes a bit? I think you got potential, sweetheart."
You laughed and shook your head. "I can't do what you guys do, are you serious?"
"You got guts. We can teach anyone how to use a weapon, but guts? That can't be taught."
When it became apparent he wasn't joking, you cleared your throat and glanced out the window. "I don't know..."
"You said yourself you're sick of waitin' tables," he reminded you, then pulled out a white business card and handed it to you. "I know it's a big decision. Think it over and gimme a call." He paused for a moment and a slow smile spread across his face. "But how 'bout you gimme a call either way?"
"Okay," you practically whispered, looking down at the card before shoving it safely in your pocket. He pushed open the door and slid down to the ground, then turned around and held out a hand for you.
You spent the rest of your night thinking over Jack's offer, replaying over and over in your mind everything you learned about the Statesmen in the past week and trying to imagine if that was something you could possibly do. You had pretty much decided it was a stupid idea, that it was dangerous and things like that didn't happen to girls like you, but when you punched in for your shift at the restaurant on Monday and looked around the dining room at the same patrons eating the same food they always did, listening to the same boring gossip and worrying about the same bills that always plagued you, something finally snapped. You tore off your apron and tossed it behind the computer before snatching your purse and walking out the front door without a second glance behind you.
You got into your beat up car and breathlessly dialed the number you had been staring at all weekend, your heart slamming in your chest excitedly. When Jack's familiar drawl answered on the other end, a huge smile spread across your face.
"That offer still stand, cowboy?"

Felixandre PARIS part II - 4t3 conversion
Ok, this one will be long, so at first I need to thank @martasimsbookcc and @aroundthesims - I studied their meshes quite a lot to see how they made it work, so I definitely stood on the shoulder of giants in this one.
Anyway:
All items recolorable, 1~4 channels, but unfortunately counters don't allow for multiple multipliers and masks so Compromises Were Made. Also, I didn't add all the stencils on the tiled bar/barista bar because of the lack of secondary masks to add + not wanting the file size to balloon. Feel free to retexture if you want, but I really wanted to keep the marble texture right there!
All BGC EXCEPT for the Barista Bars (they look like LN Professional bars but they're not and it's like that in the original), which require UL and the tiled version of the base counter and the base island, which used Pets items as a base because of the 4 channels but appear in-game as requiring LN, so they require LN.
The true counters and islands have the texture glitch; pretty much inevitable. I added a sims3pack version of them for those who prefer to not deal with them. The parts cloned from end tables don't have this issue.
Stools can only be added on well, the counters that are truly modular: marble counter and base island, tiled counter and base island (this one has a working corner). For the others, moveobjects on + a counter OMSP of choice ;)
Cabinets are freestanding so you can use them to decorate your shops and libraries too. They also have linked textures, so keep the MASTER one in you folder at all times or you'll reach Grey Mesh Hell.
The refrigerated display is just a surface with slots. use the Transmogrifier mod to make it work with your mod of choice: Baker's Bakery, Savvy(ier) Seller, they all work.
Please use the ALT key to align the endpieces/round pieces. I tried to align the meshes the absolutely best I could, and even a 1cm adjustment using S3DT will be too much. Those meshes were NOT beginner friendly!
Counters and islands have a 1x1.5k texture. Sorry, I had to make two diffuses into one and those textures are a bit on the detailed side, so I choose to keep their detail...
The highest poly pieces are around 1.7k (the chair and the marble barista bar). Nothing to worry about!
And collection file included so you don't have to suffer :P

Nika Mühl X Reader
Number Ten
You sit hunched over your laptop in the cozy corner of the small on campus coffee shop, the warm scent of roasting beans and cinnamon swirling around you. You’ve been nursing your coffee for over an hour, absentmindedly sipping between typing out a super frustrating homework assignment. Wearing your friend’s oversized UConn shirt with “Muhl” and the number 10 on the back, you barely give it a second thought as you rub your tired eyes. To you it’s just another comfortable piece of clothing, the worn fabric a perfect match for your lazy study day.
The bell above the door chimes softly as Nika Mühl steps into the cafe, her tall athletic frame a commanding presence despite the casual hoodie she wears. She’s just finished up practice and is on a quick coffee run for her and Paige but as she scans the room for an open spot, her gaze falls on something unexpected.
There, tucked away in the corner is a beautiful girl. Wearing her shirt?
Nika blinks her heart skipping a beat as she takes in the sight. The number 10. Her name. You have no idea the attention you have just attracted, completely engrossed in whatever is on your laptop. Your brow is furrowed slightly in concentration and your hair falling softly around your face. The sight makes Nika’s breath catch, and she finds herself blushing at you wearing her shirt.
After ordering her and Paige’s coffees, Nika takes a deep breath wiping her palms on her sweats nervously before making her way over to your table.
“Hey” Nika says, her voice soft but just enough to catch your attention.
You glance up, your fingers freezing mid typing as you look into the eyes of the person standing before you. Tall. Athletic. Gorgeous. Your heart gives a small flutter, though you’re not entirely sure why. Maybe it’s the way her eyes sparkle when they meet yours or the warmth in her smile that makes your stomach do a little flip.
“Hi…” you reply your voice trailing off uncertainly. You glance around, unsure if the girl is talking to you or someone behind you.
Catching on Nika chuckles softly, rubbing the back of her neck. “Sorry to bother you but I couldn’t help but notice…nice shirt.”
You blink, then look down at the oversized UConn shirt you have on. “Oh this? Yeah, it’s my friend’s” you say casually tugging at the hem. “I don’t really know much about the team or the number or anything. She just gave it to me because I needed something comfy.”
Nika’s eyebrows shoot up, and she has to suppress the laugh bubbling up. She finds it both endearing and amusing. Most people would have recognized her by now, especially if they were wearing her number.
“Wait, so you don’t know anything about number ten?” Nika asks her voice teasing but gentle.
You shake your head with a small smile. “Nope, sorry. I’m kinda clueless when it comes to basketball.” You give a small apologetic shrug. “I’m just trying to survive accounting.”
Nika can’t help but laugh a warm sound that makes your heart flutter again. “Well, you’re talking to number ten.” Nika says, a playful glint in her eye. “Nika Mühl…that’s me.”
Your eyes widen your hand flying up to cover your mouth as you gasp softly. “Oh my God, you’re number ten? I’m so sorry, jeez i’m so stupid! I had no idea!”
Nika grins, clearly amused by the situation. “Don’t worry, it happens”she says with a lighthearted shrug. “But it’s kind of cute, honestly.”
Your face flushes a deep shade of red, and you bite your lip, laughing at yourself. “Well, now I feel like an idiot.”
“No no, don’t” Nika says quickly, her tone softening. She leans in a little closer, her voice lowering as if she’s sharing a secret. “Actually I like that you didn’t know. It’s… refreshing.”
You blink…your heart doing that strange little thing again. The way Nika’s brown eyes soften as they hold your gaze makes your pulse quicken. You can feel the butterflies in your stomach start to flutter. Nika is… charming. And really, really beautiful.
“Thanks, I guess…” you mumble shyly, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. “Still feel kind of embarrassed, though.”
“Well…” Nika says, her grin turning a little more playful. “I have a way for you to make it up to me.”
You tilt your head, intrigued. “Oh?”
Nika leans against the table her voice dropping into a playful tone. “How about you come to our next game? I can get you a ticket..court side. Maybe then you’ll learn something about the team.” she teases, her eyes sparkling with that same warmth.
You blink caught off guard by the offer. “Wait, seriously? You’d do that?”
“Of course” Nika says, her smile widening. “I’d love to see you there. And who knows” she adds, her gaze softening again. “maybe you’ll become a fan of number ten after all.”
You can’t help but smile back, your heart racing a little faster now. “I’d like that…I’ll definitely come.”
Nika grins the excitement in her eyes clear as she reaches into her pocket, pulling out her phone. “Give me your number and I’ll send you all the details.”
You blush again but hand your phone over without hesitation. As Nika quickly types in her number, she hands the phone back with a smile that makes your knees feel weak.
“There..” Nika says, her voice warm and full of promise. “I’ll see you at the game, Y/N.”
With that, Nika flashes one last smile before grabbing the coffees from the counter. As she walks out of the cafe, you can’t stop the huge grin from spreading across your face. Your heart is racing, and you have to take a deep breath to calm yourself down.
What just happened?
You glance down at your phone…the contact labeled simply “Nika 💙” staring back at you.
She was definitely flirting with me, right? you think, an excitement bubbling in your chest.
As you return to your homework, all thoughts of assignments and deadlines are quickly replaced with thoughts of a certain basketball player with the number ten stitched onto her back.
You walk into Gampel Pavilion, nerves buzzing in your chest. For days you haven’t been able to focus on anything…all you can think about is this game. More specifically you can’t stop thinking about Nika. You’ve been trying to convince yourself that it’s just a casual invite that this is just a basketball game, but deep down you know you hope it’s something more.
Your mind keeps replaying the conversation at the coffee shop…the way Nika smiled at you, the subtle connection between you two that felt undeniable. Now as you weave through the crowd, you can feel the butterflies fluttering in your stomach an unfamiliar but thrilling sensation.
You finally find your seat in the front row, fingers gripping the edge nervously as you glance around the court. It doesn’t take long before you spot Nika warming up with the other players. Even in the middle of all the action, Nika stands out…the way she moves, the effortless way she handles the ball, her confidence radiating like she was born to be in the spotlight.
You try to play it cool, leaning back in your seat like any other fan enjoying the game, but your eyes keep drifting back to her. Then suddenly Nika looks up. Your eyes meet, and it feels like everything around you fades away.
She smiles at you…that same smile that made your heart flutter in the coffee shop. Before you realize it, you’re smiling back and your cheeks are heating up in spite of your attempts to stay composed.
Nika gives you a small wave, her expression soft as if to say, I’m glad you came. You quickly glance away trying to hide the warmth rushing to your face. Your heart is pounding, making it hard to focus on anything else.
As the game begins you force yourself to look around, to absorb the atmosphere but your gaze keeps finding its way back to Nika. Every time she makes a play you can’t help but watch in awe. She’s intense, competitive, and so skilled…everything you already knew but seeing her in action? It’s even more impressive in person.
What makes it harder to stay composed is that after every amazing pass, every shot Nika glances your way, her eyes twinkling with amusement like she knows exactly what she’s doing to you. It feels like there’s a silent conversation going on between you…a little game only the two of you are playing.
This is ridiculous, you think trying to calm yourself down. She’s just a basketball player, and I’m just a girl she invited to a game. But no matter how hard you try to rationalize it, that fluttery feeling in your chest tells you otherwise.
By the end of the game UConn wins easily, and the arena erupts into cheers. You stand up clapping along with the crowd, but your mind is still on Nika. As the players begin to leave the court you brace yourself, knowing she’ll come over. You don’t want to seem too eager, but as Nika walks over, her jersey clinging to her with her face glistening with sweat and adrenaline…you can feel your cool exterior slipping.
“Hey” Nika says flashing you a bright smile, her voice casual but her eyes full of something you can’t quite place. “So..what did you think? Still clueless about basketball?” Her tone is teasing but the warmth in her gaze sends a wave of heat through you.
You laugh, but it’s shaky. Trying to play it cool you shrug. “I think I’ve learned more than I expected” you say, grinning a little. “Basketball’s kinda exciting.”
Nika chuckles lingering closer, her presence close enough to make your heart race. “Kinda exciting, huh? Is that your way of saying I’ve won you over?”
You open your mouth to respond but nothing comes out at first. There’s something about the way she’s looking at you, that playful challenge in her words mixed with something deeper in her eyes and you feel completely thrown off.
“I uh…” you stammer but before you can say more, you see a shift in Nika’s expression. The teasing fades, replaced by something more sincere.
She leans in a little closer her, voice soft. “You don’t have to pretend.” she says gently, her eyes locking with yours. “I see it. I’ve seen the way you’ve been looking at me.”
Your heart skips a beat and you feel exposed, like she’s seeing right through the defenses you’ve tried so hard to keep up.
“I wasn’t….” you start but Nika smiles, that sweet knowing smile that makes your breath catch.
“Y/N” she whispers, her voice almost tender. “It’s okay…I’ve been looking at you the same way.”
Your heart races as her words sink in. She’s into me?
“You… you have?” you ask your voice barely above a whisper, like you’re afraid speaking louder might break this moment.
Nika nods, her gaze steady. “From the moment I saw you at the coffee shop. I couldn’t stop thinking about you. And tonight?” She chuckles softly. “You coming to watch my game… I was definitely trying to impress you the whole time.”
You blink your stomach doing flips. “You were?”
Nika nods again her smile turning a little shy. “Yeah. I felt silly..but I’m really into you, Y/N.”
The words hang between you and all you can feel is the warmth spreading through your chest, the butterflies swarming.
“So” Nika continues, stepping closer until you’re almost face-to-face, her hand brushing against yours. “a bunch of us are heading to Tim’s later…the bar down the street. You should come.” Her voice softens her eyes locking with yours. “We could hang out. Just us, if you want.”
Your heart races at the invitation. You know this isn’t just a casual ask. There’s something deeper in the way she’s looking at you, something that makes you feel weightless.
“Yeah” you say softly, your lips curving into a shy smile. “I’d like that.”
Nika’s face lights up, her grin widening. “Good, dijete..I’ll text you the details.” Her hand brushes yours as she pulls back and the simple touch sends a spark through your skin.
“Oh, and” she adds, her tone playful. “next time you’re rocking a real jersey with my name on it, so everyone knows who you’re here for.”
Heat rises in your cheeks at her words, and you laugh softly trying to keep your composure. “Oh, is that right?”
She smirks, her confidence unwavering. “That’s right, I’d love to see a pretty girl in my jersey…I think it’d look good on you.”
Your breath catches, the air between you charged but there’s no denying the way your heart flutters. “I guess we’ll just have to see if that’s true.” you reply your voice teasing but full of warmth.
Nika steps back slightly, her smile softening into something more tender. “We will, won’t we?” she says, her gaze lingering on yours for a moment longer. Then she gives your hand a quick, almost shy squeeze. “See you in a few, Y/N.”
She walks away, giving you another teasing glance. You feel a giddy flutter in your chest. Already counting down the minutes until you get to see her at Tim’s.

Unlike Anyone Else – Glen Powell
Masterlist
Glen walked into the coffee shop, hiding his cringe behind a smile when people started noticing him. He walked up to the counter and ordered his coffee from a very excited barista. This has been happening a lot more since his role in Top Gun: Maverick. It got even crazier after Twisters.
As he waited for his coffee, he stood off to the side, using his phone to avoid making eye contact with anyone. When his name was called, he walked up and grabbed his coffee. He turned around but pumped into someone.
"I am so sorry," Glen panicked. "Did I get any on you?"
"Don't worry about it," the young woman shrugged. He looked up at her, instantly noticing how beautiful she was.
"I didn't spill my coffee on you?" He double-checked.
"I'm all good," she chuckled.
"Coffee for Y/N!"
"Excuse me," the woman smiled. Glen was slightly shocked as she walked past him and got her drink. He expected her to walk back over and talk to him, but she sat down at a table in the corner. He couldn't help but watch her pull out her laptop from her bag. She took a drink of her coffee and over the cup, noticed Glen was still watching her.
She sent him a wink before going back to work. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see him debating something. She hid her smirk behind her coffee when he made up his mind and walked over to her.
"Mind if I join you?"
"Not at all," she smiled as she sat back. "But can I ask you something?"
"Sure," he shrugged as he sat across from her.
"You always stare at a woman after almost spilling your coffee down her shirt?"
"Only the special few," Glen winked at her.
"Last time I checked, there weren't twisters in LA," she smirked.
Glen chuckled awkwardly as he ran his fingers through my hair. "You know," he sighed, "for a second there, I thought you didn't recognize me."
"Please," Y/N laughed, "the second you walked in, everyone recognized you. I doubt you can go anywhere without being noticed."
"That is true," he sighed. Y/N studied him.
"You okay, Hollywood?"
"I'm fine," he laughed a little too forcefully.
"It's okay not to be," Y/N shrugged as she took another sip of her coffee. "After a rough day at work, I got to the nearby bar and drink and drink and drink. If it's a really bad day, I go home with a sexy stranger."
"That sounds like a wonderful plan," Glen chuckled. "What do you do for work?"
"I'm a lawyer," she explained, "currently working toward partner."
"That's awesome. You close?"
"Hell yeah," Y/N laughed. "I basically do everything in the office. Not only do I handle my cases, but my coworkers always seem to need my help."
"Damn," Glen smirked. He looked down at her empty coffee cup and had an idea of how to keep her here. "You got time for another coffee or do you need to rush back to work before the firm falls apart?"
"I've got some time," she shrugged. "If you're buying."
"I'll be right back," Glen winked. He stood up and ordered another coffee for her. As he waited at the counter, he looked over his shoulder and watched Y/N answer her phone. He watched as her whole demeanor changed as she spoke to whoever was on the other side of that phone call.
She hung up as he walked over. "Everything okay?" He asked, suddenly worried she might have to leave.
"Everything is fine," she sighed, not sounding convincing. "Just morons at my office that don't know how to staple paper, let alone talk to a client." She looked up, her face slightly reddening when she saw him staring at her. "I'm sorry," she said, her voice lightening up. "Work is just. . . a lot."
"Sounds like you need something stronger than a cappuccino," he tried to tease.
"That's for sure," she mumbled. "Then again, it's not even 10 o'clock. But I will definitely be making a stop at a bar after work."
* * * * *
They spent the morning, talking about their jobs and their lives. The entire time, Glen couldn't believe that this amazing girl didn't care who he was. Not once did she treat him like a famous actor.
Y/N sighed when her phone rang for the third time. "I'm sorry," she sighed before answering her phone. "What now, Caleb?"
Glen sat back and watched as her facial expression changed. "We have gone over this so many times," she sighed. "The case files are not. . . Yes, the client. . . You know something Caleb, I'm getting awfully tired of doing my job and the job of my assistant."
She hung up and her eyes softened when she looked at him. "I should really go. I'm half-expecting my office to be on fire when I get there."
"Well," Glen sighed as the two stood up, "if your office is on fire, call me."
"And what are you going to do about it, Mr. Hollywood?" She smirked.
"Run into the building and save you," he said like it should've been obvious.
"Can't have you doing that," she chuckled. She reached up and patted his face, as she added, "This pretty face is your job. Can't risk anything happening to it."
* * * * *
Glen tried to go about his day, but his mind was constantly on the woman he met at the coffee shop this morning.
"What's with you?" His manager, Andrew, asked when he walked into the hair and makeup trailer and saw Glen staring absentmindedly at his phone.
"Nothing," Glen stuttered. "Just. . . distracted."
"Who?"
"What?"
"Only a woman can make a man. . . distracted," Andrew laughed. "Who is she? Coworker? Neighbor? Friend?"
"Nothing like that," Glen sighed as he put his phone down. "Just a random girl I met at my coffee shop this morning."
"Wow," Andrew chuckled as he sat next to him. "What's her name?"
"Y/N."
"By the look on your face and the way you smiled when you said her name, something tells me you actually talked to her."
"I did," Glen chuckled. "We talked for over an hour, but her work pulled her away."
"What does she do for work?"
"She's a lawyer."
Andrew studied Glen as Glen thought about Y/N. "Did you ask her out?" Andrew asked.
"No," Glen sighed.
"Did you get her number?"
"No," Glen said, clearing his throat.
"Do you know what law firm she works at?"
"No," he said, looking down at his phone. "All I know is her name is Y/N, she is a lawyer, and she likes to go to the bar close to the coffee shop."
"There you go," Andrew shrugged.
"What?"
"You know where she's going to be, right?"
"Well, yeah. I do, but. . .Oh."
After work, Glen headed to the bar. The second he walked in, he searched for Y/N. His heart jumped into his throat when he saw her sitting alone at the bar.
"Fancy meeting you here," Glen chuckled as he sat at the bar next to Y/N.
"Really?" She smirked. "You just happened to show up at the bar I was telling you about this morning?"
"I always come here."
"Mmhmm," she rolled her eyes as she took a drink.
"Can I buy you a round?"
"How about more than just one?"
* * * * *
The next morning, Glen woke up to an empty bed. He ignored the feeling of disappointment when he realized Y/N was gone. He spent the entire morning, slowly getting ready for the day.
As he drove to the set, his thoughts were only on Y/N.
He thought about the coffee shop. He thought about the bar. He thought about the night they spent together. He thought about the feeling he got when he looked down and saw her asleep on his chest.
He hated himself for not getting her number. He hated himself for letting her leave without kissing her goodbye. He hated himself for not asking her out on a proper date.
He vowed to do whatever it takes to find her.

You had one job
18+
Bodyguard!Bucky x reader
Everyone who asked for this raise your hand. As expected, everyone’s hands are down. I’m sorry.
A lil angst, horny protective Bucky, smutty smuuttt, fluff, all that. Daddy kink, pregnancy
-
“Not interested” Bucky glared at Steve, shoving the file back across the table, shaking his head while the blonde smirked, skimming through the papers.
“Well you don’t have much of a choice; they requested you, not Mr. Stars and Stripes over here”
Of all jobs, the last thing Bucky wanted was to play babysitter for the spoilt daughter of Tony Stark, the face of Stark Enterprises though that was clearly just a cover for the underground dealings he had control over.
“I’m not taking a babysitting job”
“You’re not a babysitter for fucks sake, you’re her bodyguard and head of security for the family. You have military experience, they only want the best” Bucky’s boss walked out of the room without looking back, not giving the brunet a chance to argue back.
“You start next week”
*****
Don’t let her out of your sight
Don’t touch her
Don’t stare at her
Don’t touch her
Keep her safe
Don’t touch her
Those were the rules he was given as he walked out of Starks office, his jaw clenched as he made his was to the foyer of the mansion. Works of art decorated the walls, each piece different from the other, different from pieces he had seen in other homes-
The sound of heels clicking down the stairs broke him from his train of thought, his eyes flicking up to the latest job he was forced to take on. You wore a skirt and blouse, make up perfectly done, not a hair out of place, nails manicured, unnecessarily pretty.
You’d already gone though countless bodygaurds before, none meeting your standards, each getting fired for one reason or another. Unlike the others, Bucky only had so much patience.
“Miss Stark” Bucky hardly looked at you, staring past you instead while you walked by him, grabbing your bag and calling for your driver.
“Mr. Barnes” You nodded, making your way out to the car as he followed behind you, sliding into the car and keeping his distance. You didn’t speak to him the whole car ride, going about your shopping trip as if he didn’t exist. When you weren’t pretending he didn’t exist, you’d talk his ear off, your sassy banter seeing how far you could push him till you at least got a growl out of him.
He had to give you some credit. While he usually ignored you most of the time, you were intelligent like your father and he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t the least bit intrigued by you.
Each day was the same. He’d accompany to wherever you demanded; shopping, brunch with your friends, dinners, oddly occasionally a few bookstores where you’d spend the whole day tucked away in a corner reading. The worst was when you wanted to go clubbing, your handsy friends ogling and eye fucking him the entire time while you continued to pretend he didn’t exit.
Again, he had to give you some credit; not once did he ever had to drag you out of the club, drunk and sloppy. Regardless of how much you drank, you always appeared stone cold sober.
Not once had anything happened for his presence to be needed. The most he had done in the past month he spent with you was carry your shopping bags and hold the door open. Aside from his name, he wasn’t sure you knew anything about him. What he didn’t know was while you didn’t look at him, you’d carefully studied him whenever he looked away from you.
You noted the way his blue eyes would always scan the room before you entered a building, marking all the exists. His hands would constantly twitch whenever someone got too close, his metal arm always tucked near the gun in his holster. His lack of patience amused you; always smirking to yourself at the way his jaw ticked when your friends got too close to him.
In all fairness, he was handsome.
As hell.
Between his short dark locks, scruffy cheeks and pink lips, you’d have to be blind not to see how gorgeous he was. Unlike your previous bodyguards, you were most intrigued by him, the only one who hadn’t spared you a second look, always keeping his eyes and hands to himself. He was also the only one you wanted to ride until the sun came up-
“You don’t speak much” You mused, looking up at him from your sunglasses while he sat across from you, scrolling on his phone. You both sat in the car on your way to a charity event you had to attend, representing your father.
“I was hired to protect you” Bucky shrugged, while you cocked your head wanting to prod at him more. “That doesn’t involve much talking”
“Shouldn’t you know more about the person you were hired to protect” You earning a grunt in response. “Might be difficult if you hardly look at me”
“I don’t believe speaking or looking at you are part of my instructions Miss. Stark” Bucky challenged while you smirked, his blue eyes locking with yours. There was something about you that made him want to take you over his knee, curious about how demanding you’d be if you were stuffed with his cock instead-
He broke his stare away feeling his phone buzz, opening the car door for you and letting you step out, trailing behind you. He spoke lowly as he answered the call though he was already dreading what it would be about, seeing Fury’s caller ID.
“You’re scheduled to travel with her next month”
“This is a waste of everyone's time” Bucky groaned, wishing he at least had Steve by his side to keep him entertained. “For fucks sake, all I do is follow her on shopping trips, this is what they hired me for?”
“Suck it up Barnes, Stark is sending you both over to some event he can’t attend, everything’s already been arranged” Bucky growled, cursing under his breath when he hard the call end.
A month later
“I’m sorry sir, there must have been a mix up in the bookings” The front receptionist gave Bucky an apologetic look while he shook his head, taking single the keycard to the hotel suite while you continued to scroll through your phone. You both made your way up to the room, your bags in his hand while you took the card from his hand to swipe the lock.
“What are you doing-” You shot Bucky as look as he followed in behind you, crashing onto the couch after setting your bag aside.
“They only booked once room and there's no others available, so here we are” He was in no mood to argue with you, already irritated over the fact that he’d have to spend the night surrounded by stuck up shady business men all night while running on 0 sleep. You stayed silent for a moment; it wasn’t like you had time to waste finding different sleeping arrangements, your fathers business always came first.
“You can sleep on the couch” You shrugged, grabbing your garment bag and locking the door of the master bedroom of your suite, deciding you’d deal with the hotel room mix up later.
Bucky splashed some water onto his face, thankful there was a second bathroom in your room as he showered and threw his suit on. He sat at the couch, reloading his gun, looking up when he heard the click of your heels on the tiles, approaching him.
For the first time since he’d started his job, Bucky struggled to take his eyes off you. You were in a long satin gown, the soft burgundy material wrapping around your body beautifully. The dainty straps of your heels hugged your ankles, his mind going rogue, thinking about how they’d look on his shoulders-
“Lets go” You gave yourself a once over in the floor length mirror while Bucky nodded, leading you to the elevators and down to the hall of the event. The sweet scent of your perfume evaded his senses as you stayed close to him, hoping he wouldn’t realize your stomach had burst into butterflies over the way he looked in his suit.
You made small talk with a number of people throughout the night but something was off. Bucky watched you carefully, noting the way you downed your third glass of champagne in the past few minutes, anxiety clouding your usual confident demeanor.
“What is it” Bucky whispered, while your eyes flicked to a few unfamiliar guests, which was unusual for such meetings.
“This is a private event” You murmured, nervously linking your arm with his, “But I don’t know some of these people, my father would have mentioned new guests”
Bucky silently nodded, slipping his hand around your waist, making his way towards the exit before the room went dark, a number of lights suddenly switched off. You gasped as a masked mad approached you, panic ensuing at the sound of bullets ringing through the large ballroom. Your eyes grew wide, recognizing the voice as the man tore the mask off, his burnt face a mess after he had already tried to touch you once before.
“Fancy seeing you here” Rumlow grinned, his cold knuckled fingers gipping onto his knife as he stalked over to you, determination written all over his face. “Almost had you once. Shame your father will only have you back in pieces-
Before you could do anything, Bucky pulled you out of the way, shielding you, the knife slashing across his shoulder instead. He hissed in pain, pushing you away just enough so he could push Rumlow down, cuffing him while a few of your families allies dragged him away.
You hardly had time look back while Bucky let out a pained groan teeth digging into his bottom lip, pain radiating through his shoulder as he grabbed you and pulled you close to his side, making sure the area was clear before taking you to the safety of your room. He ignored the shooting pain that pulsed through his body, slumping on the couch while you berated him about needing to go to a hospital.
“M’fine” He gritted out, while you shook your head, unwilling to take his brooding stubbornness if it meant he was going to bleed out in the hotel room.
“For fucks sake, will you stop being so stubborn for once and let me take care of you” You dragged him into the bathroom, shrugging his blazer off and unbuttoning his shirt, throwing the blood soaked material into a hamper that sat in the corner.
Usually Bucky would have protested, easily cleaning his own cuts and sewing himself up like he had done countless times before.
Except he was exhausted.
Before he could get another word in, you tugged his hand, leading him to sit on closed toilet seat, grabbing the first aid supplies he had in his bag. You threw your dress and heels off, quickly throwing on the first thing you could find in one of the bags, (his henley and his brief's) before rushing back to him and tending to his injury.
He was able to feel every cut and sting as you dabbed the alcohol soaked cotton on his gash, unable to ignore the way the pain radiated on his skin. He hissed, his body moving on its own, his hand slipping up your shirt, grasping onto your waist, gritting his teeth, squeezing your soft flesh, groaning. You felt your heart jump, ignoring the way it fluttered. Your eyes grew wide when he sucked in a breath, letting your shirt ride up and he rested his head against your stomach.
You continued to dab the bloody away, the sting only getting worse. He bit down onto your soft flesh, no longer in control of what he was doing, the pain felt white hot and the only thing that kept him tethered to reality was the softness of your skin.
His grip on your waist loosened as he let out a shuddered breath feeling you blow on his skin to soothe the sting before placing gauze on top to stop the bleeding.
“All done” Bucky pulled away, his eyes now locked on the indents on your skin of where he bit down onto you, a part of his mind wandering to how pretty you’d look if he marked you other places. He felt his face heat up, thanking you before getting up and leaving, the blood in his body now pumping other places.
The softness of your hands.
The sweetness of your voice.
A stubborn little princess, wearing his clothes, taking care of him.
“I’m going to shower” You interrupted his train of thought, leaving his bathroom to use the larger one in the room, your own body feeling like it was lit on fire. You loved the way his calloused hands felt on your body, gripping onto you, each of his pained groans made your heart hurt yet needy. Imagine how beautiful he’d sound if you were bouncing on his co-
You blinked, your fingers tracing over the indents he left on your skin as you stripped his henley off, cursing when you realized you’d taken his clothes instead of yours. While you hoped he wouldn’t have noticed in his state of pain, you knew he saw every detail.
Perhaps a cold shower would clear your head.
Bucky nearly growled as you emerged from the bathroom in nothing but a pathetic excuse for a towel while he stood half naked, grabbing his sweats to throw on before you came in to grab your own clothes.
“Forget your clothes again” Bucky smirked, letting his eyes rake up and down your body, unable to hold back much longer. Maybe it was the exhaustion. Or the scent of your body wash. The little resolve he had was crumbling into a fine power when you stepped towards him.
You could feel your pussy already dripping, eye fucking him right back, curious to see how far you could push him. He always managed to ignore your teasing though today his eyes had lingered on you for a tad too long.
“Daddy said you couldn’t lay a finger on me” You cocked an eyebrow, dropping your towel to the floor, shamelessly letting him stare at your bare form, his cock leaking against his boxers.
“Not a problem princess” He smirked, tugging his boxers down, stroking himself in front of you. “He didn’t say anything about admiring his pretty baby, huh”
You whimpered while he continued to lazily stroke himself watching you, taking a few steps towards you while you backed yourself against the wall. Your eyes grew wide when he caged you against the wall, his hot breath fanning on your face.
“Daddy said-
“I’m your daddy now baby” He growled in your ear, throwing you over his shoulder, and tossing you onto the bed. Something else surged inside him. He hadn’t realized how much he actually cared for you until today. He despised the feeling he felt when he knew you were in danger, no one, absolutely no one had the right to hurt you.
Bucky didn’t hold back, fucking you with abandon, making sure you’d feel him for the rest of the week, pounding you into the mattress. He loved your desperate cries and whimpers, begging him for more, taking every inch of him.
“Daddy, harder”
“Greedy little princess aren’t we”
“Need it daddy”
“Daddy’s got you baby, just be a good girl and take it”
You loved the way he tossed you around, marking your body, your skin littered in bruises, his possessive words making you feral.
“You like when daddy bites you sweets? You like daddy losing control for the princess he has to protect?”
“Please Bucky, mark me up daddy!”
“M’the only man who gets to hear you scream like this baby, the only man who gets to mark you. I’ll fuckin’ ruin anyone else that tries to put their hands on you, you’re mine to protect, all mine”
He had you cumming all over his cock all night, his mouth filthier each time he had you creaming on his length.
“C’mon babygirl, one more, it’ll make daddy all better”
“C-can’t daddy!”
“Just one more to help me feel all better baby, please? Daddy’s cock hurts when his princess doesn’t cum”
The night ended with you cuddled up in his arms, the both of you insisting it wouldn’t happen when the next day. You tried to ignore the way you felt giddy around him while Bucky tried to keep his cheeks from going red whenever you were near him.
Although.
That night started it.
While neither of you spoke about any feelings that seemed to be brewing between you both, you couldn’t keep your hands off each other.
Bucky had a lot of self restraint for many things but you were a weakness. He fucked you in everyway imaginable; the back seat of the car, the changerooms, by the poolside, your bedroom, the kitchen, even once in the club bathroom.
What started off as a few hook ups turned into something more intimate. He snuck into your room more often, taking his time to feel your body under his, staying with you until the sun came up. He hadn’t been one to enjoy soft slow sex before but with you he found himself craving it.
“Missed you babygirl”
“Needed this”
“Fuck you feel so good baby, s’perfect my pretty girl, so good for me”
“Never wanna leave princess, wanna be like this forever”
Regardless of what he was saying in those moments, you both agreed there was nothing more. Its not like anything more could happen anyway, he was still your bodygaurd and its not like you could be together.
A few weeks later
He had been patient for long enough. This was the fourth time he heard you empty your insides, walking out of the bathroom as if nothing had happened. You ignored his stare, making your way to your bed instead, your stomach churning again.
“There’s something you’re not telling me” Bucky’s voice was low, watching you nervously fidget with your fingers, bringing your knees up to your chest, nearly curling into a ball. “I don’t know what you’re-
“Its nothing Bucky” You shot back, your frustration clouding overthrowing your patience. You fought back tears while Bucky sat by your side, clenching his jaw when you turned away from him.
“Don’t lie to me, you’re never like this”
You had avoided him for over a week, hardly leaving your room, leaving all his calls unanswered. You had refused to see him, deciding to stay holed up in your house so he wouldn't have to watch over you. You knew Bucky suspected something but how could you tell him this.
“You’ve been sick, you’re tired all the time, you refuse to let me take you to the doctors, you don’t even let me near you anymore, baby just-
“I’m pregnant” You sat up, bursting into tears, shuffling away from him, guilt and fear consuming you, “I’m pregnant and I don’t know what to do, we didn’t plan this, I-I know you don’t want this, you were hired just to protect me, not have a baby, especially not with me-
“Hey, hey, baby what makes you think I don’t want this” Bucky quickly grabbed you, pulling you into his lap, wrapping his arms around you and holding you to his chest. You trembled in his arms, shaking while he rubbed your back, tilting your chin to look at him.
“Bucky-
“Princess, listen to me, I want this with you baby” You looked away again, figuring he was saying that for your sake, “Sweetheart, look at me baby, please?”
He huffed at your stubbornness, moving you so you were pinned under him while he held off some of his body weight to keep from pressing too hard against your tummy. He rested his forehead onto yours, his eyes sincere. “I mean it. I want our baby. I’m more than happy sweetheart, there's no one else I’d want to have a baby with”
You whimpered under him, draping your hands over his shoulders while he rolled you over again, letting you lay on top of him. He stroked your hair, kissing you while rubbing your tummy, giddy excitement making him smile till his cheeks hurt.
“Y/n, sweetheart” Bucky pulled you closer to him, his hand firmly splayed across your tummy, nose bumping against yours, “I love you baby”
“You promise you want this James?”
“I want it all with you babydoll”
****
“Can-I have to tell you something” You stepped into your father office room while Bucky continued to remain a respectful meter away from you as always.
“That you’re in love with the man I hired to protect you” Your father cocked an eyebrow, his face unreadable while he stared at you both, your eyes growing wide, while his face remained unchanged. You silently nodded while Bucky took a step closer to be right by your side, relaxing a little when Tony didn’t put a bullet between his eyes.
“Do you love her?”
“Yes sir”
“You’ll take proper care of her?”
“Yes sir”
“You understand I’ll kill you right now you ever make her cry”
“Yes sir”
“Suppose it could be worse” Tony shrugged, shaking his head at the way Bucky looked like a lovesick puppy, his hands clearly itching to hold yours, his pinky discreetly linking with yours for the time being.
“Well-um-that’s not all?” You nervously fidgeted while Bucky bit back a smirk, though your father didn’t look surprised, shaking his head instead.
“For fucks sake, you had one job” Tony rubbed his temples, itching to throw a paperweight at Bucky’s head while he sheepishly smiled, moving his arm to wrap around your tummy. “I thought I told you not to touch her” Tony deadpanned while Bucky bit his lip, a deep blush spreading across his cheeks.
“Sorry sir”
Just imagine utter ridiculousness that ensues after. Tony is more than happy that your happy but he can’t help but grill Bucky every time he sees him doting on you, reminding him of how this absolute punk touched his princess.
“He had one job, just one job” He mumbles while watching Bucky feed you, the both of you cuddled on the couch together.
“C’mon, they’re cute” Nat snorts while Tony shoots her a glare, continuing to sip his whiskey.
“One job Romanoff, one job”
After your little one is born, Bucky is even more protective over you than before and Tony couldn’t be more proud over the person he hired to watch over you.
That doesn’t mean he’ll let Bucky live it down.
“One job Barnes”

Day 5: No need for poetry
@azrielappreciationweek
Masterlist
Azriel had the biggest crush he had ever had. He couldn’t stop thinking about you. Imagining your life together and having so many date ideas he wanted to ask you out on.
The only problem is, you didn’t know him.
He really didn’t know you either, but for weeks the only thing he could think of was you.
How happy you looked working at your bookshop. How your smile made all the bad things in the world disappear. And how you made both the butterflies in his stomach and his shadows go crazy with the familiar feeling of crushing.
He definitely wasn’t playing it cool, for soon both Nesta and worse than that, Cassian, knew about his crush.
“Just ask her out!” Nesta urged him. “She’s the sweetest! Even if she does reject you, which I’m sure she won’t, she will do it kindly.”
That didn’t help his case at all.
What if he build up the confidence to ask you out and you end up rejecting him? He won’t ever recover.
“Why are you this nervous?” Cassian asked him. “It’s not like you haven’t asked out a female before.”
Of course he had asked out females before, but that was usually just to have sex. He never actually met females he wanted to date. He wanted to cook dinner with you and read with you and go for romantic walks. It was a totally new experience.
“I’m not nervous,” he grumbled back.
“Az, your shadows,” Cassian pointed towards the black blob of shadows in the corner of the room. They were shaking in both excitement and fear.
Azriel waved his hand through them and made them act more neutral. He looked back at his friends and saw both their smug smiles.
“Shut up,” he just said and started to leave the room.
“Az?” He stopped and turned to look at Nesta. “I have this book I need picked up from a certain someone’s bookshop. Can you do that for me?”
Azriel didn’t know who he was when he immediately answered yes and went to the bookshop.
It was surprisingly empty when he walked into the shop. He was immediately relaxed from the cozy atmosphere and comforting smell.
“Hello,” you said from the counter and Azriel felt his heartbeat grow faster from just the sound of your voice. “Can I help you?”
He had to pick up courage with a deep breath before he walked up to you.
“I was sent to pick up a book for Nesta Archeron,” he said and tried to keep his voice from shaking.
“Oh, yes! She’s been so excited to read this one! And I’ve really been looking forward to talk about it with someone. Give me a moment!”
You turned around and looked through the big stack of books that stood on the counter beside her.
“Ask her out,” his shadows started to whisper to him. “She wants you to.”
He just shook his head at them.
You turned around and Azriel suddenly noticed one of his shadows playing with your hair.
He immediately pulled it back.
“Behave”
He felt the shadows laugh back at him.
“I’m sorry about that,” he said after clearing his throat.
“No worries,” you answered with the smile that made his knees weak. He got lost in the beauty of your eyes and studied all the small details in your face that he hadn’t seen from a distance. She handed him the book. “Nesta already paid. Do you need a bag?”
“You too,” he said and his eyes widened at the realization that he absolutely did not answer your question.
He just shook his head and gave you a small smile before he rushed out of the shop.
He hid in his shadows for the rest of the day.
“Okay, I’ve had enough of this,” Cassian said as he dumped as few small books on the table in fr of him.
“Poetry” his shadows let him know.
“I don’t need a poetry lesson, Cass,” he told his brother and let his annoyance show.
“Well, you haven’t been able to ask her out otherwise and right now you are “Nesta’s weird friend”.”
Azriel got embarrassed by the amount of happiness he felt from knowing you spoke about him.
“I don’t need to resort to poetry,” Azriel continued.
“Okay then big guy,” Cassian mocked him. “Prove it.”
That’s when it started. Azriel realized Cassian wasn’t the only one that had enough of Azriel’s crush. His shadows were also annoyed.
So they started watching you. Azriel asked them to stay away multiple times, but they refused to listen.
The only problem was that this only made Azriel’s crush bigger, because the shadows told him about every part of your day.
“Smiles, laughing, singing, talking to her dog, talking to herself about what to have for dinner.”
Azriel started to wonder if his shadows crushed more on you than he did and then he remembered that the shadows acted on his emotions.
One day, the shadows gave him a particular informative message about you.
“Stupid male, mean, pretty smile cry.”
It made Azriel stop in his tracks. You were crying? Someone had said something mean enough to make you, a female that smiled and laughed every second of every day, cry? He needed to do something.
“What can I do?”
“Lonely” was his shadows only answer.
That’s when he realized that maybe asking you out would actually go well. So he started to prepare.
“Favorite food?”
“Pizza.”
“Flowers?” His shadows informed him of the old flowers on your kitchen table.
“Today?”
“Yes”
That’s why he got dressed, flew down from the House of Wind and went to a flower shop before he went to the bookshop.
You stood inside dusting and preparing to close the store when he came in.
“Hello, again,” you greeted him when he walked in even though it only was two minutes until you were closing. He smiled at you. “Can I help you?”
He straightened his back and tightened his wings to try to build confidence.
“I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me,” he asked you.
Your face lit up with an amazing smile.
“I would love that,” you answered and Azriel felt himself get ten kilos lighter. “When were you thinking?”
Now, today.
“I can whenever, what works the best for you?” He asked and impressed himself by the lightness in his voice.
“I’m available now if you just give me a few minutes to change,” you answered.
“That sounds good,” Azriel replied and tried not to fidget to much with the flowers.
The flowers!
“These are for you by the way,” he answered and handed her the yellow bouquet.
“Thank you. Did you know that yellow is my favorite color?” You asked him.
“A few companions of mine might have told me,” he said and hoped you wouldn’t freak out that his shadows had been spying on you.
“I thought so.”
Azriel looked confused.
“You thought so?” He asked.
“I mean,” you started. “I didn’t have shadows braiding my hair every second of every day before I met you.”
First now Azriel noticed the two small braids that had been made in your hair. And he suddenly felt his face become warm.
“Just give me five minutes,” you said with a laugh and left the room.
“I can’t believe you,” he told his shadows.
“It was either that or poetry,” they taunted him back.

This isn't Your Fault ('I Love You')
Pairing: Tara Carpenter x Reader
Summary: “I love you,” Tara said. Her eyes widened as soon as the words left her mouth.
Warnings: None
Word Count: 3.1k+
Main Masterlist | Series Masterlist
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6
Tara was leaning back in her seat, her head thrown back as she laughed at a joke you told her. The two of you were at a little coffee shop just off campus. The two of you went there all the time during free time or after class since it was less likely for you to be seen together by Tara’s friends. It sort of became your spot, you would do little coffee dates there, but mostly you went there and would catch up on class work or study.
The two of you had been there for a few hours now, tucked away in the corner on the couch. It was easily the best spot in the place and the two of you were definitely using it to your advantage. Tara was meant to be studying for an upcoming test and you were supposed to be working on a project for your audio class. You had your laptop out, with all your audio stuff pulled up, your headphones around your neck, like always, and Tara had all her books sprawled out on the table and a notebook scribbled with notes only she could decipher.
Tara had been trying to distract you for the last few minutes, she had been studying so much she felt like her brain was going to melt. You had been hard at work, listening intently to whatever you were working on and editing the sound like crazy. You tried talking to Tara about audio stuff, how you created sounds, how you mixed music, and how you applied it to video, but Tara never got it, all that information went right over her head.
“Here,” you said. “Listen to this.” You slipped off your headphones, already handing them to Tara.
She graciously took them and slipped them on her head. You hit play and were biting your nail as your eyes watched Tara, not paying attention to your screen. You were making the soundtrack for a video and had been working on it tirelessly, while you would add music and do all your stuff on your laptop you had a little box in the top corner playing the video, so you knew where to put the music and how to edit it.
Tara stared at your screen, her eyes watching the video while her ears paid attention to the music. She tilted her head when the music started out quietly, it was almost impossible to hear but as the video continued and the scene started to become more clear the music began to swell. Tara wasn’t sure what the video was supposed to be about, professors tended to provide students with video that was free use, or they would use footage shot by themselves or other students in the past. It didn’t matter if she didn’t understand the video though because your music was creating all the emotion for her.
When the music slowly died off as the video faded to black, Tara slipped off the headphones, handing them back to you. “Holy shit,” she whispered. She looked over at you in awe, you were still sitting there, rocking back and forth in your seat as you continued to bite your nail. “That was amazing.”
“Really?” you asked, your eyes instantly lighting up. You bounced in your seat, straightening your back, almost like you were about to jump out of your seat. “Are you sure? Because I wasn’t sure about the opening. I know it’s a risk but…”
Your words slowly became muffled as Tara continued to stare at you. She knew you were still talking; she was watching as your lips moved rapidly and you began gesturing at your screen, pointing to various programs you had open as you talked about your project. Tara didn’t mean to tune out what you were talking about, she loved listening to you go on and on about music, you got so passionate and excited when talking about it.
Tara had been dating you for about three months and she still couldn’t get over how adorable you were. You mentioned how Tara’s eyes would light up after watching a move and she’d begin to dissect it, especially if it was one she really enjoyed. You got the same look when talking about musical scores and just about anything to do with sound design in general. When you got excited, you would talk so fast, stumbling over your words at times as your mind tried to catch up with the speed of your mouth.
“I love you,” Tara said. Her eyes widened as soon as the words left her mouth. She knew she said it quietly, but you clearly heard her based on how quickly you stopped talking. You turned to her, looking at her with wide eyes as your mouth opened and closed.
She couldn’t believe she just said that, she couldn’t believe that was how she said it. She slammed her book closed, shoving it and her notebook in her bag quicker than she ever had before. She was on her feet before you clearly had time to process what she said. “I gotta go,” she said.
“Tara-” she heard you say but she was already halfway across the shop. As she ripped open the door she glanced back, seeing you standing there but before you could chase after her she rushed out the door.
She ran back to her apartment as fast as she could, she knew you wanted to come after her, but you wouldn’t push it, you wouldn’t show up at her place. She could feel her phone vibrating every few seconds, but she refused to look at it. As soon as she got home, she slammed the door closed, quickly locking the door as if she were being chased by someone. She dropped her head against the door with a thud, she couldn’t believe she had just ruined the best thing in her life.
“Tara?” Sam called out.
Tara lifted her head off the door, she needed to pull herself together before she faced her sister. Sam would instantly know if something was wrong and Tara couldn’t tell her about you, especially not now. Tara turned around just as Sam came into the living room. Sam furrowed her brow, her eyes looking Tara up and down. Tara swallowed nervously, hoping she was hiding what was wrong.
“Everything okay?” Sam asked, tilting her head.
Tara nodded, giving a forced smile. “Yeah,” Tara’s voice went a bit higher than she wanted. Tara cleared her throat, shaking her head as if she just had something caught in her throat. “Just stressed from all the studying.”
Sam slowly nodded her head, not seeming convinced but turned and went back to the kitchen. Tara walked past her, ignoring the delicious smell of pasta as she went to her room, kicking the door closed and loudly dropping her bag by the closet. She flopped down onto her bed, letting out a loud groan into her pillow. After a few minutes she reached down, struggling as she pulled her phone out of her pocket. She rolled over, her face being lit up by the screen as she saw the dozens of texts you sent her from the second she walked away from you, to when she got back to her apartment.
She opened the text, seeing you begging for her to call you back and apologizing, despite the fact that you weren’t the one who did anything wrong. She wanted to text you back, telling you she was sorry and didn’t mean what she said, she wanted to take it all back. The truth was that she did mean it, she loved you, she had never been in love before but falling for you had been effortless. Listening to you talk excitedly about your audio project hit her like a truck, she loved you. The two of you hadn’t been dating long though, you hadn’t even met her friends or her sister yet, she knew that was all because of her but still, she didn’t know how she could love you when she still wanted to keep you a secret.
When dinner time came around Tara, moved the pasta around her plate, slowly eating. Sam tried to make conversation with her, but she just brushed everything off. Tara’s excuse was school, that things were starting to get more difficult and hectic and she had a big test coming up. None of that was a lie but Tara had pretty much forgotten all about her test the second she said those three little words to you.
Tara was glad she didn’t have class with you the rest of the week. She was planning on avoiding you for the rest of her life. She woke up the next day to more text from you. You asked to meet her before her class, and she once again just left you on read. She didn’t know what to say to you, she couldn’t face you. She told you she loved you and then ran away. You probably thought she was crazy and most likely the reason you wanted to see her in person was to break up with her, you were way to considerate to break up with someone over a text.
The rest of the week Tara was actively avoiding you on campus. She still refused to text you back and if she saw you across the courtyard she ran the other direction. You still messaged her every day, usually multiple times a day but you never sought her out. You were so damn considerate; you knew Tara didn’t want to talk to you and as much as you wanted to clearly talk to her you still respected her decision in avoiding you.
It was Friday night, the week was finally over, and Tara could relax. Tara intended to hold up in the apartment all weekend. She only needed to worry about Monday, when Monday rolled around, she’d before forced to go to class again, forced to go to Film History, the class she shared with you. She hadn’t studied since being in the coffee shop with you, every time she opened her book her mind was consumed with you, she was going to tank her test and it was all because she opened her big mouth.
“Come on T,” Mindy shouted, slapping her on the leg. “The party should well be on its way by now.”
Tara looked up from the TV, she was slumped on the couch, staring mindlessly at the TV, she didn’t even know what was playing. Mindy, Chad, and Anika were standing in the middle of the room, all of them dressed and ready for the frat party going on.
“Pass,” Tara mumbled.
Everyone in the room stopped what they were doing and turned to look at her. “What?” Chad asked with a small chuckle. “You’re kidding, right?”
Tara shook her head and went back to staring at the TV. “Are you okay?” Anika asked. Tara didn’t miss the concern in her friend’s voice. She was always the one begging them to go to parties and throwing a fit when Sam would disapprove. She knew the last place she’d ever run into you was at a party, but she just wasn’t in the mood.
“Just tired,” Tara shrugged. “My brain is fried, and I still have to study.” All three of her friends looked at each other and her, unsure what they were supposed to do. “Go,” she waved them off. “Have fun, seriously, I’m fine.” Tara gave them a forced smile; she was doing that a lot this week.
The three of them slowly shuffled out the door, all of them constantly glancing back at her. She was truly fine, well she wasn’t, but she didn’t want them to stay with her and she didn’t want to go to the party, she just wanted to be alone. A few minutes later Sam came out of her room, fixing her jacket before grabbing her keys.
Sam paused in her movements, looking around the room with scrunched eyebrows. “Where are the others?” she asked.
“A party,” Tara mumbled, not taking her eyes off the TV. Sam didn’t say anything, but Tara heard some sort of noise come from her sister, making her look up from the TV again. “I’m not going,” Tara assured when she saw Sam looking conflicted. Sam raised an eyebrow at that. Tara wanted to roll her eyes, but she couldn’t be offended, she did tend to disobey Sam when it came to parties. “Seriously.”
“Okay,” Sam said slowly. She kept glancing at Tara, clearly not convinced Tara wouldn’t try sneaking out. “Just be careful, don’t unlock the door for anyone.”
“I know.”
“And remember I’m working late tonight and then have an early shift at the diner, so I won’t be home until late morning, early afternoon.”
Tara nodded saying goodbye as Sam left the apartment, locking all the locks behind her. Tara didn’t know where Quinn was, but she knew she wasn’t home. Tara turned off the TV and dragged her feet to her room. She didn’t even care what time it was; she was exhausted and wanted to sleep for the rest of her life.
Tara crawled into her bed and pulled the blanket over her head. Tara needed to figure out what she wanted to say to you, she knew she couldn’t avoid you forever. She ruined the best relationship she ever had, she might have lost you forever and she had no one to blame but herself. She was afraid of what you would say, it was obvious she was moving way to fast. Mindy had been dating Anika longer than Tara and you had and they hadn’t even said I love you yet.
Tara must have fallen asleep at some point because next thing she knew she was blinking the sleep from her eyes. She looked around in the darkness of her room, wondering what had woken her up. She heard a rumble of thunder and then realized it was pouring down rain outside. She shrugged it off, there probably had been some loud thunder or lightning that disturbed her from her restless sleep.
Tara rolled over to go back to sleep when she heard tapping. She sat up, looking around again, that definitely hadn’t been thunder. The tapping happened again, though a bit louder. Tara looked around until her eyes landed on her window where a shadowy figure sat. Tara’s eyes widened, her heart jumping out of her chest but then the figure pushed back their hood, revealing your face. She couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.
Tara slipped out of bed, padding her way over to the window. She unlocked the window, sliding it open. She shook her head, there you were sitting on the fire escaped, completely drenched. “What are you doing here?” Tara asked, taking your hand to help you inside.
“I just-I wanted to talk,” you whispered.
Tara closed the window then went and turned on the lamp by her bedside. With the light she could now see you standing before her in the middle of her room. When you pushed back the hood of your sweatshirt the rest of the way Tara could see your red rimmed eyes.
Tara furrowed her brow, instantly closing the distance between the two of you and taking your hands in her own. “What’s wrong?” she asked, looking you over. It was obvious you had been crying, Tara wanted to fix whatever had made you upset, she never wanted to see you sad.
You let out a humorless chuckle. Tara had a feeling she wasn’t going to like the answer to what has caused you to be upset. “Well, my girlfriend ran away after telling me she loved me,” you said. “Before I could respond, and she’s been avoiding me ever since.”
Tara dropped her eyes to the floor, but she didn’t let go of your hands. Before looking away she could already see the tears beginning to fill your eyes. Tara sniffled, her vision blurring from her own tears. “I’m sorry,” Tara mumbled. She was the reason you were upset, she was the reason you’ve been distressed and hurt the last few days.
“Just talk to me,” you whispered. You let go of one of her hands to gently tilt her chin up, forcing her to look at you again. “Did I do something wrong?”
Tara furiously shook her head, wiping away the tears. “No, no, of course not.”
“Then why are you avoiding me?” Tears instantly filled Tara’s eyes again when she heard your voice crack. She had been sitting here feeling bad for herself and you were out there blaming yourself.
“Because I was scared,” Tara admitted, running a hand through her hair. “I just blurted those words out and it’s too soon and I didn’t want to lose you.”
You were shaking your head; Tara wasn’t sure at which part. “You didn’t even let me respond,” you let out a small chuckle. “I won’t lie, I was caught off guard.” Tara nodded, her eyes sliding to the floor again. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t love you.” Tara’s entire body froze, she blinked a few times wondering if she just heard what she thought she heard. “I was rambling about my project and just wasn’t expecting you to say that.”
“What?” Tara whispered, looking up at you.
You smiled, your eyes shining with tears that had yet to fall. “I love you,” you rested your hand on her cheek, looking deep into her eyes.
Tara couldn’t help but break out into a smile, instantly pulling you into a kiss. Your arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer. Tara tugged your hoodie, pulling you towards her bed without breaking the kiss. She unzipped your hoodie, tossing it into the corner of her room as soon as she got it off.
“Wait, wait,” you said in between kisses. Tara couldn’t help but let out a whine when she felt you pull away. You chuckled which only made her glare at you, she was considering sending you back out in the rain now. “What about your sister?”
“She’s at work,” Tara answered quickly, pulling you right back into a kiss.
She pulled you down onto the bed, running her hands through your hair as she gave you a few more kisses before breaking away again. “I love you,” she whispered. “Stay the night?”
You nodded, smiling as you leaned down, pressing Tara further into the mattress as you. Tara was thrilled Sam was working late then going straight to her other job. Tara didn’t intend to let you leave anytime soon. If she was really lucky Sam would come home so tired she wouldn’t even check Tara’s room and you wouldn’t be forced to sneak out.

➶ The Bet | Kate Bishop ➴
Pairing: Kate Bishop x reader
Warnings: angst
Summary: Being known as the quiet and reserved student, you mind your own business and stay out of people’s way.
Kate Bishop is the exact opposite. Outgoing, bubbly, and loud, she’s the definition of a popular girl, so it comes as a surprise when she asks you out on a random Thursday afternoon.
Next Part | Masterlist

“Hey!”
An unfamiliar voice next to me makes me flinch before looking up from my notebook.
Standing right there, with sparkling eyes and a dopey grin on her face is Kate Bishop.
“Uh. . . Hi.” I cringe at my own awkwardness and look around to make sure no one is watching us.
What could Kate Bishop–popular, quirky, beloved-by-all Kate Bishop–possibly want from me? A nobody with only one friend and a knack for origami.
Seemingly unbothered by my hesitation, Kate plops down in the chair across the table. She smiles and puts her bag down, but she doesn’t take off her coat.
“Can I help you?” I ask politely, pulling my study material closer to my side of the table.
“Yes, actually.” She smirks and whispers conspiratorially, “You’re the only one who can help me.”
My eyebrows shoot up and I lean back in my chair. “Excuse me?”
Mistaking my surprise for offense, Kate’s eyes widen and she backtracks immediately. “No, wait—! That came out wrong.”
I cross my arms over my chest and bite the inside of my cheek to hide my growing smile.
We share some classes and have been in a couple of group projects before, but other than that we’ve never interacted. Have I noticed she’s cute? Yes. Is she charming? Definitely. Do I have a crush on her? Totally! No, absolutely not, but the way she’s all flustered and stumbling over her words at the moment is pretty endearing.
“I- I-“ she stutters and fidgets with her fingers, her cool and carefree demeanor replaced by nervousness. “Wow, this is not how I— You know what? I’m just going to go. . . Yep!”
She goes to stand up, red-faced and embarrassed, but I stop her. No, hey. It’s okay. . . What do you want?”
“I—“ Blue eyes filled with uncertainty dart over my face. “I actually wanted to ask you something.”
“Yeah? And what’s that?” I ask, no longer hiding my smile.
Kate sighs and smiles tentatively as well. She takes another moment to gather her thoughts before saying, “As you may or may not know, we share a couple of classes and—“
I snort in amusement. “Yeah, I know”
“Right, and— Well, I kind of. . . like you—“
My eyes widen and heat crawls up the back of my neck. That is the last thing I ever expected to come out of her mouth, but here we are, I guess.
Kate is too busy fidgeting with her fingers to notice my delighted surprise and goes on talking.
“—but until now I’ve been too scared to talk to you, never mind ask you out and— Oh God, I’m rambling again. . .”
My smile softens and a warm tingling feeling settles into the pit of my stomach.
“Anyway.” She huffs and meets my gaze hesitantly. “I was wondering if you’d ever consider doing something with me. Well, not doing—“
“Kate.” I chuckle, interrupting her before she starts rambling again.
“Yeah?” She bites her bottom lip and furrows her eyebrows.
“Are you trying to ask me out?” She goes to say something, but I beat her to it. “Because if you are. . . my answer is yes.“
Her eyes widen and her jaw slackens. “Really?”
I smile sheepishly and scratch the back of my neck. “Really. I. . . kind of like you, too.”
Kate laughs in relief and jumps to her feet. “It’s settled then.” Her grin is so bright it’s almost blinding. “You and I are going on a date. How about tomorrow? After class? We could go to this cute coffee shop around the corner.”
Giddiness surges through me and I can’t help but nod eagerly. It’s been ages since I’ve been on a date, not only because my ex broke my heart a year ago and it’s taken me this long to get over it, but also because I’ve been too scared to get hurt again.
With Kate though, I’m not scared. She seems sweet and sincere, and I can’t wait to see where things go between us.
“Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow then,” she says, grinning as she slings her bag over her shoulder.
“Yeah, see you.” I wave awkwardly and watch her leave the library with a dazed smile.
“So, you’re telling me you saw someone getting attacked by a crow in a park, and you did nothing?.” Kate laughs and I chuckle softly, taking another sip of my coffee.
“Well, yeah?! I didn’t want to be its next victim! Besides, that lady was fine once the crow left her alone.“ I try to reason, having just told Kate of the time I came across a crow attacking a woman during my run through a nearby park.
“I get that, but. . .you could have at least called for help!” She laughs even more incredulously and nudges me playfully.
“You expect me to call the cops on a crow?” I nudge her back.
“Well, no. . .” She smiles sheepishly and takes a sip of her own coffee.
I snort playfully. “Exactly.”
The cafe is quite busy, but Kate and I managed to secure a spot on the couch in the corner by the front window. It allows for the perfect view of the cafe’s interior and the street outside where people are rushing by wrapped in scarves and hats to ward off the autumn breeze.
“Hey, uh— I got you something,” I say after a moment of comfortable silence.
Kate sets down her coffee and sinks back into the couch with raised eyebrows. “Yeah?”
I nod and quickly look away to hide the redness creeping into my cheeks. I grab my bag from the floor and open it, rummaging around in it until I find what I’m looking for.
Either she’s going to like it, or she’ll hate it and think I’m a total nerd. . .
I swallow harshly and square my shoulders before holding out my hand. Sitting on my palm is a small origami rose head that I folded in class earlier.
I wasn’t actually planning on giving it to her, but then I thought Why not?
Eyebrows furrowing, Kate glances at me before taking it and inspecting it carefully.
She doesn’t say anything at first and I get the horrible impression that I shouldn’t have given it to her after all, but then she looks back up and asks, “You made this?”
I nod and bury my hands in my lap, trying to ignore the way my palm still tingles where her fingers brushed against it.
Adoration flickers over Kate’s face, and for a moment I’m filled with relief, but then something like regret shines in her eyes.
I frown and go to take back the rose, but Kate closes her hand around it and holds it against her chest.
“You know. . . all my life the people I love have always bought me everything I could ever dream of. A new car, a new bow, an apartment—everything.“
She meets my eyes and smiles sadly, her next words making my heart hurt for her. “But none of them ever put the thought and effort into giving me something that actually matters. Something that actually means something. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for everything I have, but. . . You made this for me and I—“
I frown at the way her voice falters. “It’s nothing, Kate. It’s just a piece of paper that I—“
“No.” Her hand on my knee makes my brain short circuit for a second. “It’s not. Not to me, at least.”
I look at her, seeing the emotional turmoil in her eyes and smile shyly. “Okay. . . If you say so. I’m glad you like it.”
