Officials reported that a substantial portion of the cash, Rs 2.5 crore, was recovered from a bungalow belonging to a builder in Navi Mumbai’s Nerul area following a tip-off. The police have initiated an investigation to determine the origins and ownership of the seized funds, according to a police official. In a separate operation, a flying squad, in coordination with the police, intercepted a cash van carrying Rs 1.2 crore near Bapgaon while en route from Bhiwandi to Kalyan. As the occupants were unable to provide satisfactory documentation for the cash, it was subsequently seized by authorities, officials confirmed.
