[?] verst in 5 minutes = 12 v. per hour or 12x2÷3 = 8 English miles per hour – fast for Russian horses – the little rough animals seem at great speed – a full trot and occasional hand gallop – the national history museum at Kazan, the only place in Russia where I have seen a want of room! –
