A PROMISE OF ADVENTURE

With a deep sigh, Celestia leaned back in her seat to think about the question that Star asked her, until she quietly admitted that she did not know what the future held for them; but she promised to speak with the Crystal Royals about the best steps to take next, and to give them the support which they had lacked all those years ago, so both they and Sombra could live their lives to the fullest.

To her immense relief, the worried expression on Star's face faded, allowing a smile to grow in its place instead, and they did not flinch or turn away in fear, for even after they shut their eyes to speak with the presence within their mind, they seemed to be at ease; and Celestia slowly drank her tea, quietly hoping that Cadance and Shining would forgive Star and that she could forgive herself.

Although she had heard him say enough about her and her Sister when she and Light spoke with Sombra in the lightless dungeon yesterday, she felt responsible for his and Star's safety, since it was by her hooves, and those of her Sister, that they were terribly affected many aeons ago; but while she did not condone it, she could now more easily see the reasoning behind all his heartless reactions.

Even after Sombra had been defeated, instead of trying to understand his anger, to help him come to terms with what had happened, and to work together on mending what had gone wrong, Luna and she put aside their judgement, and cast him, and Star in turn, into the permafrost; and for over a thousand years, they walked around with a false sense of righteousness, never realising how wrong they were.

There had been far too many things that she had seen, and done, and been through over the aeons she had been alive, and she briefly shuddered to think that even a fraction of those affected had their own perspectives she had never considered; but before she could sink further into her memories, she felt Star gently lay their hoof on her shoulder, and she was snapped out of her worsening thoughts.

The warm and kind smile that the Young Unicorn before her was wearing quickly calmed down her heart and mind, and she sweetly thanked them for their help, before she told them that she was all right, and that many fears from long ago had just caught her off-guard; but before she could utter another word, Star took her hoof, and briefly whispered, before they asked her not to worry about the past.

Listening to Stygian for the entire day, and learning from him, had allowed them to understand that although their past was a part of them, it did not matter nearly as much as what was ahead of them, no matter what their mind, or the presence residing within it, was telling them; and if he was able to follow his words, despite his past as the ponyification of Darkness himself, then so could they.

Fortunately, after Celestia took a deep breath, she, too, was able to smile again, and she politely thanked Star for their advice, which made them blush in turn, before she finished drinking her tea, and suggested that they head to their rooms; and after Star shyly nodded, and drank what little tea they had left, they placed their cup next to the sink, and joined Celestia as she left the kitchen.

With her regalia hovering behind her to avoid making any noise, Celestia quietly led Star upstairs, where she wished them a calm and peaceful night, before she turned around to head back to her room; but she stopped walking for a moment when Star briefly mumbled something under their breath, before they shyly looked away and opened the door, until Celestia calmly asked them what it was they said.

Although she grew concerned when she noticed that their voice had started to quiver, even after she laid down to meet them at eye level, she quietly let out a sigh of relief when Star slowly admitted that they wished her a pleasant night as well; but as they shied away, and shielded their face with their hooves, to the dismay of Celestia's aching heart, they also wanted to ask her for an embrace.

In response, Celestia lit up the hallway with a warm light from her horn as she spread her wings.

As tears started to stream down their face, Star carefully embraced her, and sweetly apologised…

shine bright like the stars

I love to see stars shining bright in the night sky.

ahh - so beautiful!

but there are stars that we will never be able to see.

because regions of space are moving away from one another, the first population of stars to form in the universe are now too far away for us to see them.

there's still hope, as we can still try to spot them indirectly from the energetic bursts of radiation they emit at the end of their lives

such a beautiful sight when stars light up the sky

we can shine bright like the stars and emit all the positive energy everywhere! be everything you want to be and shine bright like the stars.
