Being an angel is pretty inconvenient, huh? (Ch. 4)
As Lloyd and Colette try to figure out their next step, they decide to meet up with their friends. Maybe, with them, they'll find the answer they need. [A Lloyd wingfic]
Fandom: Tales of Symphonia Characters/Pairing: Colette Brunel/Lloyd Irving, Raine Sage, Genis Sage, Zelos Wilder, Sheena Fujibayashi, Regal Bryant, Presea Combatir Rating: T Word Count: 8117 Mirror: AO3 Notes: For Colloyd Week 2023, Day 4: Soulmates! Introducing the entire party here because they’re all soulmates. ;D
--
Once he got older, Genis became way more susceptible to colds.
So, before they arrived in Flanoir earlier this week, Raine made sure that they both were better dressed for the weather; their thick cloaks made from those peculiar Penquinist quills (they had amassed a collection of them, somehow), and a snow hat that covered Genis’ ears while hers was a simple hood, with only a fur trim as any sort of decoration. Mittens were also a necessity, though Genis’ were about a half-size too big.
Either way, he was already sneezing once he got back from his routine food shopping, shivering as the snow piled high past his shins.
He remembered when he didn’t care about the cold at all! And when he used to easily run through the snow and lob snowballs at Lloyd’s face like it was nothing. Is this what happens when one becomes older? Even a slight breeze now made him shiver.
Growing older, but not -growing-, he thought grumpily. He was waiting for that growth spurt any day now!
Still, he would weather the worst blizzard in the world to make sure he didn’t let his sister cook.
“Hey there!” called the innkeeper, waving in Genis from the front desk once he opened the door. “Miss Raine just came in earlier.”
The fireplace from the foyer was already giving the inside that nice, toasty warmth. He was tempted to take off his hat, but the ear flaps gave him a degree of security, even more than his long hair—even if the innkeeper had been friendly to them for a while now. It was hard to break habits.
“Hopefully she didn’t come in with extra groceries,” he said with a sigh. He placed the bags of food on the far side of the counter. “I’ll need the kitchen again for tonight, if that’s okay.”
“Sure, but you do know we offer our meals here
”
Genis shrugged, moving his cloak to let his arms free, feeling the dampness of the snow from his shoulders instantly melt away. “Gotta make sure my cooking skills aren’t rusty.” Besides, this way he could also ensure no one messed with their food, even if the innkeeper was kind. It didn’t mean other guests in the inn thought of half-elves with as much graciousness.
“Well, I’m sure your friend will appreciate the meal! Makes sense to want to whip up something for the occasion.”
This made Genis pause for a moment. Facing the innkeeper, his hat idly began to slip down the right side of his head. “Who?”
“Oh, I believed you knew. Your sister had someone with her
I recognize her, I think. The girl with blonde hair?”
Now, Genis was no longer his twelve-year old kid self. After one whole year, he had very much matured, changed his clothes (slightly), and was no longer as excitable about certain things. He could be as calm and collected as his sister, at least when ruins weren’t involved. He could take this piece of news in stride.
But even he was surprised when he found his legs climbing up the stairs, straight to the second floor and the door on the far right that was his and Raine’s room.
He already saw Colette in the hallway; her stance, the way she idly clasped her hands behind her back, how she tilted her head as she spoke, all of it instantly recognizable.
When she turned, Genis had rushed forward, nearly slipping in his damp snow boots. “Colette! You’re here!”
“Genis!” The girl giggled when he crashed into her for a hug, and both would have gone tumbling down to the floor were it not for Raine gently catching Colette by the shoulders. But with Colette laughing along with Genis, the Professor could hardly find it in herself to rebuke her happy brother.
“We haven’t seen you since catching up with everyone in Meltokio!” Genis finally let Colette go, his grin stretching his cheeks so far, but the ache was good. “Are you still searching for the Exspheres? And where’s Lloyd? Is he with you?”
“If you let Colette speak for a few seconds, she might be able to answer your questions.” Raine sighed, quickly taking off his hat before it could fall to the floor in a soggy mess. “Colette, I figured you’d want to mention it to him?”
“Ah, yes
” Colette moved back a lock of her hair behind her ear, shifting her right boot on the hardwood floor. Small, nervous gestures, the kind Genis hadn’t seen for so long. “Lloyd’s here! Um, Raine’s last letter said you were heading to Flanoir so we wanted to catch up
” She hesitated, eyes flicking towards the door nearby. “And we wanted to talk to you both about something.”
Raine nodded, though she was even quieter than Genis would expect from her seeing their dear friends again. “I am glad you came to us about it.”
“
Am I going to be filled in or
?” With that, Colette jumped a bit, then moved over to the door to give a small knock.
“Lloyd! Are you ready?”
The silence stretched for just a second too long before out came the voice Genis had known for over half of his life. “Yeah, I guess so.”
And even as Colette carefully turned the doorknob, Genis could hardly wait. He pushed on it quickly, feeling the weight of Lloyd’s absence throughout the year, so badly wanting to see his friend again.
“Hey, Lloyd! Does this mean you’ve been sleeping in again?” Genis reflexively teased, preparing himself for an embrace or even a ruffling of his hair—and he’d accept that from Lloyd the most, had missed it more than he expected. But what he saw was an open window facing him that let the snow in and counter any warmth that came from the heaters affixed to the wall. He found his friend kneeling on the rooftop just in sight, letting the snow powder his hair and his wings.
The last time Genis saw his friend’s wings, they had been as blue as the ocean. But now, they blended with the snow far too easily. And—wait. They were different.
“Lloyd?”
And finally, Lloyd turned to face him, a quiet hesitance in his motions, an uncertainty that was unlike him. But, once Lloyd met his eyes, a sheepish grin broke out, highlighting the red flush on his cheeks and the tip of his nose from the cold. He lifted a gloved hand in a wave.
“Heh, it’s good to see you. How are—?”
And then he interrupted himself with the loudest sneeze to echo across the rooftops and, perhaps, the entire city.
--
Genis was quick to make everyone tea, even when Raine had offered to make it herself. The heater within their room made it possible, and there were plenty of nights where she would brew her favorite herbal mixture herself, complete with lemon, and a few experimental spices to help her stay awake through the night as she assessed their next plans for their own journey.
Her brother was adamant though as he took the clay cups and set about brewing. Colette and Lloyd, who still sat just outside the window, both looked relieved. A year apart certainly didn’t change most people’s expectations of her.
But maybe that was why they thought to come to her first. It warmed her down to her chill fingers. “It’s a curious phenomenon,” she said, her eyes fixated on Lloyd as she and the others sat at a small table. “As if you’re undergoing your own angel transformation. Can you still eat well? Or sleep?”
Lloyd nodded. He sat on a small, curved slant of the roof, his red jacket peppered with so much white, it was nearly dyed in it completely. “I still eat, and I don’t get sick from it either. Sleeping’s hard, but only because it’s not really comfortable to lay down on my back
I always need to sleep on my side.”
Raine gripped her clay cup, the green tea already half-drunk. “And your sense of touch?”
Lloyd sneezed again as if on cue, sniffling. “If you mean I can still feel this cold, then yep!”
“It does seem like everything else is still normal for Lloyd,” Colette added. She was closest to the window, shivering occasionally from a breeze, but never moving away. “At least, it’s not like what happened with me.”
“An effect of his Exsphere
” Raine mused aloud. She looked again towards the window, Lloyd hunched onto the roof as great wings extended from his back. They were exactly like a bird’s, though ornithology was not exactly her strongest subject, so she could not say which species it resembled

“Lloyd, can you get in here already?” Genis grumped from the table. He folded his arms, back to wrapping his cloak around himself tightly. In front of him were two clay cups, one of them still full. “You’re letting all the heat out!”
“H-Hey! I’d like to be inside!” Lloyd pouted, then turned away as if he was suddenly interested in the view of the snowy city. “I just. Um. Can’t.”
Genis gave a curious blink. “You can’t?”
Lloyd’s only answer was to pout more and stay engrossed in his scenic view.
“His wings make it hard to,” Colette explained helpfully. “We forgot the windows here can be kind of small.”
Lloyd tapped his foot against the roof tiles before giving a groan. “I don’t know how to fold in these wings right! They’re so bulky and dumb!” Then he sighed. “Even if I went in through the front door, I doubt I’d fit. And putting on clothes is such a pain.”
“Yeah, we had to cut holes in his shirt for his wings to slip through,” Colette said with a giggle.
“And it was still a really tight fit!”
Raine could only feel sympathy for these two, to not only endure a fearful transformation by themselves, with no medical help at all, but to know that they will have to live with the consequences of it. Colette had been vague on the details as well when they chatted before Genis arrived. She hadn’t been sure how Lloyd’s wings changed from just pure mana to feathers and bone, only that it had, and how Lloyd suffered from the effects.
She knew, going from Colette’s nervous fiddling with her hands, that it must have been much worse than that. And now, to see them both try to make light of the situation with small complaints.
There was a reason they came here.
“Lloyd,” she said, standing up from her chair and setting her tea back on the table. She reached for her oak-carved staff that had been leaning against the table. “Can I examine them?” She would also feel much better if she could confirm that his wounds had actually healed up like Colette claimed.
Her past student looked at her curiously, and maybe with a little trepidation, but it wasn’t long before he moved to swing his legs to be parallel to the group, with at least his right wing more in focus. Flurries of snow whisked around from the motion, his wings still half-outstretched. How much of its color was from the snow or his feathers?
“Uh, I still can’t really bring them in
 Is this okay?”
She nodded. “That’s fine.” Once Raine was closer, she pressed a hand to her chin, leaning forward to examine the structure of those wings. Again, ornithology was not her strongest subject, but she remembered Lloyd’s early mana wings—and the shape was so similar.
She saw his jacket as well, the fabric ripped around where his wings connected to his back. She could see the clumsy attempts at sewing, could already guess that Lloyd had been wearing this exact clothing when his transformation occurred. She held tight to her staff, and performed a cursory healing arte over him, as she used to do whenever he got himself into trouble.
Lloyd moved as the familiar green aura of her arte flowed over him, but she saw no expression of discomfort. There had been some muscle tearing that had not completely healed, but otherwise, she didn’t need to expend much energy. It must be his Exsphere, she wondered.
Still, even after finishing her spell, she couldn’t help but keep examining. “In order for this to function as it is, your anatomy would have changed. The ulna should be here
” Raine pointed near the top center of his right wing, seeing exactly which feathers would connect with the bone. “And you seem to have the right amount of primaries
”
“Uh, what?” Lloyd hedged, looking lost and still shivering from the cold. “So
you’re saying it’s like a bird, right?”
“Did you have trouble flying up here?” Raine continued to ask, already focused on this new subject.
“Kind of
I almost fell right off but I think that’s because it’s really icy up here.”
Raine pondered on this even more, counting the feathers. “Your original wings would have drawn on the strength of your Exsphere, and use your mana to create its form, otherwise it would be impossible to fly. Your new wings must be made of mana as well, except it’s been made physical
or perhaps, permanent is the better word for it. Your body must be constantly emitting more mana
and because of that, it’s altered your body to accommodate this new form.”
Another stare, one that made Lloyd look around nervously. His wings were indeed solid, no longer translucent. But, perhaps she needed to be sure.
“Can I have one of your feathers to study?” she asked.
“T-That’s gonna hurt!” Lloyd quickly countered, his voice raising up a pitch.
“So, does that mean the nervous system also extends to your wings? Fascinating
Or perhaps it’s better to say your mana is a part of that system.”
“Of course I’m nervous! I don’t want you ripping my feathers off!”
“Lloyd,” Genis sighed. “That’s not what she means.”
Though he didn’t look very much convinced, Lloyd untensed his body, giving a small sigh. “I mean
you might get one of these dumb feathers anyway with how they’ve been acting.”
“Oh?” Raine raised an eyebrow.
“We think Lloyd’s wings have been molting,” Colette said from her seat. She got up quickly to gesture at a wingtip. “A bunch of feathers fell off him on the way. See? These ones are new!”
“Colette, don’t say thaaat. It makes me sound weird
”
“Wow, Lloyd. You must really be growing up!” Genis’ tease rolled off his tongue naturally as he also walked up to Lloyd, handing him a cup of tea. “At least drink this so your insides can stop freezing.”
Face red in embarrassment as he turned awkwardly, Lloyd took the cup. His wings raised slightly, arced over him like clouds. They were really fascinating, and beautiful.
She had thought the same of Colette’s wings too, before quickly remembering the pain she endured. Back then, she felt helpless, as if she had to accept the way things were.
“Lloyd, Colette
” she started, catching everyone’s attention. “I am flattered that you came to us for help. But how much I know about the effects of Exspheres and your Cruxis Crystals is only as much as you. Someone like Yuan would most likely be far more helpful.”
“Well, we came to you because you’re a
 Um
” Lloyd scrunched his face, one hand gripping his hair. The action instantly reminded Raine of when he was younger, wracking his brain so hard for an answer to her questions. “Um! You’re a scrawler! And you always seem to have really good ideas about complicated stuff
”
“
Did you mean to call me a scholar?”
“Is that not what I said?”
Genis tried badly to hide his laughter with his hand.
“No, you didn’t.” Lloyd had truly taught her patience more than any of her students. “Do you know what a scholar is?”
She could already see he didn’t, yet Lloyd answered her quickly all the same. “No, but
that’s what you told me when Colette was turning into an angel.”
Ah, so he remembered too. Of course, he would.
“Also, Professor
” Colette added, her voice soft. “We weren’t sure it was good to hide something this important from you. And, we missed you both so much, too.”
Lloyd shifted to face them fully again, rubbing the back of his neck. The steam from his cup had long blown away from the winter breeze. “I wanted to hide it, at first
I guess I still kinda do. But, I also wanted you guys to know, if that makes sense?”
Genis was quiet at first before he went over to Lloyd to give him a big hug, arms encircling the other’s neck. “You guys are such dorks. Did you think we’d see you any different? You’re still the same blockhead I’ve always known.”
“Gee, thanks.” Still, Raine caught the smile from Lloyd, one of relief. He hugged Genis back with one arm, though awkwardly with his big wings still making even the smallest movements a struggle.
“I think, still, it would be good to seek out Yuan eventually,” she added. “As the only member of Cruxis left here, he very well may have some answers.” Then she shrugged. “But, if you would like to have some more second opinions
”
A soft meow floated in the room.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” Colette’s apology was instinct, as was her hands reaching for a nearby basket that she had placed on one of the beds. “I forgot to introduce you all to Blippy! He was just napping.”
Raine watched curiously as a small kitten poked its head from the basket. Its white paws looked soft as they clung to the rim of the basket opening, golden eyes shining. She couldn’t help but smile. “I nearly forgot you have a new traveling partner with you both. You’re not just naming animals, but taking them in now?”
“Just this one.” Colette gave the little kitty a pet just near the ears.
But Colette had mentioned earlier how Lloyd had gone to save this animal—and how his wings formed right after. How such an event triggered the process, she still couldn’t really identify. Yet that must have been the key.
“Hey, little guy
” Genis cooed as he went to pet the creature. It mewled for more pets, but its bright eyes kept swerving to Lloyd, who stayed seated within the window, his wings framing the archway.
“Hey, Professor,” Lloyd began to ask, his eyes fixed on the kitten. “By second opinions, do you mean
?”
She nodded. “I think you can assume. I know our friends would do all they could to help.”
There were few times Raine had ever seen her student so off-balanced before, to be so unsure. Discovering Colette’s condition, finding out who Kratos truly was; those were the events where she had seen Lloyd so lost. And now, once more, with those wings upon his back. But she knew more support from those that cared for Lloyd would be more important than anything.
“Oh, look!” Colette pointed at Lloyd’s feet. Raine still didn’t see anything unusual until Colette continued. “Another feather fell off. Maybe the Professor could have it?”
“No way the Professor actually wants that!” Lloyd argued, then paused. “Like, really?”
Raine took a moment. “Just as I assumed, it doesn’t dematerialize like the feathers of your other wings
”
Lloyd stared at her with wide eyes, as if she had grown three extra heads. Then with a groan, he bent to pick up the stray feather on the ground, already damp from the snow. He held it out to Raine. “Just take it!”
Raine shifted her staff to her other hand, sighing. “I wouldn’t take it if you were truly that uncomfortable.”
There was red all over Lloyd’s cheeks; from the cold, or from shame? She couldn’t really say. Even with time passed, he still seemed like the rowdy child that would sleep during her class, whose eyes would shine with pride when she complimented his craftsmanship for his woodworking projects.
“I mean
I guess it makes me feel better you’re not weirded out by this then.” The white feather stayed balanced in his hand. “So, I don’t mind. Really. Besides, you’re a scholar. You should have it.”
While Raine suspected he still didn’t quite know what that word meant, she smiled as she accepted the feather. It was warm, made of solidified mana, its energy dancing across her skin. How something so beautiful could have caused so much pain, she thought, and knew Lloyd needed more time to heal.
Hopefully, this was the first step.
--
When Zelos first saw Lloyd’s wings, he was completely silent.
It must have been just plain dumb luck that both Lloyd and Colette came to Mizuho on another of his diplomatic visits. It made sense why they went here first instead of a place like Meltokio; a secret village should be able to keep one more secret, even if that secret was a giant pair of wings that looked ready to break through Sheena’s paper walls if Lloyd so much as even turned his head wrong.
Honestly, not the first thing Zelos expected when he first walked into the room today of Sheena’s home today. He had also noticed the usually well-hidden wall panel had been half-open, as if someone struggled through it.
“Uh, hey, Zelos?” Lloyd greeted, waving.
“Hi, Zelos!” Colette smiled wide, kneeling on the mat alongside Lloyd, their hands close to one another.
Sheena, meanwhile, was parallel to them, facing Zelos with a grim expression. Also, one of Lloyd’s wings was practically touching the top of her head—the wingtip, specifically. She cleared her throat, her cheeks a little red, but that was it.
Still being quiet, Zelos squatted to the floor, arms laying against his knees so that his hands stayed limp. He stared Lloyd right in the face, squinting his eyes.
Lloyd flinched. “L-Look, if it’s about my—”
With no warning, Zelos reached over with one hand and grabbed at the right wing, pulling it close. “What’s with the costume, bud?”
“Ow! Hey, knock it off!”
“Zelos!” Colette’s hands placed themselves on Zelos’ arm, pushing him gently. “Please, they can be very sensitive!”
“Sensitive? Isn’t this just—?” But Zelos barely got out another word before he was interrupted by a fist to his stomach.
Man, he hadn’t even heard Sheena get up. She certainly got better at being stealthy

“How is that the first thing you do, idiot?” Sheena growled out. “You’re so thoughtless!”
Zelos hacked and coughed as he tried to get up from the floor, but Sheena’s punch had done a number on his solar plexus. Through the hazy vision of pain, he could see Colette patting away the ruffled feathers of Lloyd’s wing, and Lloyd himself a little red in the face and looking all shades of embarrassed. His other wing flapped slightly, making the paper walls vibrate from the sudden wind.
“Hold on
those are real?” Another cough as he wrapped his arms around his stomach. Did Sheena’s punch just tear a hole inside him? She must have been even angrier than usual

“We were just going to tell you that!” Sheena’s fists were shaking, but oh, she was ready to deal another hit and his stomach was not ready for that. “Why can’t you ever keep your hands to yourself?”
Zelos was still trying to find enough air to even apologize, but the best he could do was wave an arm, hoping Sheena would interpret that as a surrender and not
the opposite. For the love of Martel, not the opposite. “I
I get it! Just
Oh, I’m gonna throw up.”
Thankfully, he did not throw up. He just needed a few minutes to recover, and soon enough, he was kneeling on a mat like the rest of his friends. His gorgeous hair was a little worse for wear now, and maybe he had to hiccup every once in a while from his trauma, but he was ready to properly greet his friends!
“Sooo what is up with those things?”
Colette made a concerned hum, steepling her fingers. Sheena cracked her knuckles.
“What?! It’s a valid question!”
“No, he’s right
” Lloyd sighed, shifting around to get more comfortable. One far edge of his right wing accidentally knocked askew one of the calligraphy wall scrolls from their hangings. “Agh, dammit.”
“We can start from the beginning,” spoke Colette.
Zelos noted how she was the only one to relay all the events that led up to Lloyd’s new look. How Lloyd had to play hero for a kitten, and how he had been unable to move for days afterward. The transformation had been instantaneous, but not without long-lasting pain. Oh, and he could still fly. Kind of. But he couldn’t make the wings go away at all.
All throughout, he kept an eye on Lloyd, who was pointedly looking at no one if he could help it. And he was doing it while his legs were probably going numb from the constant kneeling.
Zelos’ first question was obvious!
“Where’s this kitty anyway?” He looked around the room, as if it was hiding in the nearby futon, or maybe inside that weird lucky doll that Sheena told him to stop making fun of.
“Playing with the Chief,” Sheena said. He swore he could hear the smirk in her voice. “He loves cats. Can barely pry the two apart.”
That wasn’t fair. Zelos didn’t even get to pet this so incredibly important kitty

It was clear they had already talked about this with Sheena for a while. Lloyd was still looking uncomfortable, until he then decided to sit cross-legged instead, making his wings bonk against Sheena’s head, against the wall, and against Colette’s back, who went to pat it like she was patting something normal, like his shoulder.
Lloyd’s discomfort with his wings was also not exactly a secret. Zelos could understand the sentiment—except this was worse, wasn’t it?
Imagine if he had to have his wings out, permanently, like those lifeless dolls back on Welgaia. That must have been what Lloyd was thinking too.
“We had people from Mizuho search through the rubble of the Tower of Salvation,” Sheena was speaking, hands placed on her knees. She was the only one sitting properly now, even Colette had to give up, still patting Lloyd’s wings of any aches. "We did that to find any records on Cruxis and their organization. Most of that information was on their machines powered by magitechnology, which were destroyed
But I remember they had a lot of books too, like in those rooms back in Vinheim. There
might be something we can find what to do about your
”
Lloyd scratched his thumb against the back of his Exsphere, still avoiding looking at anyone. “Yeah.”
“You’re already banking that there’s no cure.”
He could feel icy daggers staring into him, usually the warning signs for an incoming slap to the face. But Lloyd flinched, and Colette looked to Lloyd with all the love she felt for him, so apparent in her eyes. Poor kids. After just a year or so into their own journey, something like this had to happen to them.
“I guess if I thought there was, you’d know about it already,” Lloyd admitted.
Zelos chuckled. He planted his hands behind him against the mat, stretching out his back and still trying to find some relief for the fistprint Sheena had left over his stomach. “I did hang around Welgaia a lot when I was working for Pronyma. She usually had one or two angels around, and they always had those same types of wings.” He thought back to the memory, hazy things now. They were better forgotten, but he’d try and recall for his best bud. “Never saw one without them. But, they weren’t exactly all there to want to get rid of them either.”
Lloyd grimaced. “They used their wings too much, so now they’re stuck with it.”
“Yeah. But that was after, like, centuries of using their mana for flight. I think some of them got theirs sooner than others. And you’ve been using yours for, what, a year max?” Zelos leaned forward again, one arm laying on a knee. “Sounds like you were just unlucky.”
There it was. The little frown, the aggravation in Lloyd’s voice that let him know his friend still had it in him. “Thanks, Zelos. That’s super helpful of you. Definitely.”
“I was just giving my perspective!”
“Well, we’re not just going to leave Lloyd to deal with this himself!” Sheena was still a few feet across from Zelos, but she’d be able to close the distance in one fell swoop if she got angry enough. “Cruxis had so many angels, they had to have treatment for some of them in their history if their wings got damaged.”
“But is that the actual reason you guys are here?” Zelos slid through effectively, still watching the way Colette touched Lloyd’s wings. Gently. Carefully. As if they were made of glass or porcelain. She was the only one to have seen them when they were first made after all, so maybe they really were that fragile. “Or is it because you missed seeing the Great Zelos? And you’ve come to seek comfort in my masculine arms!”
Colette didn’t miss a beat. “Oh, yeah! That’s pretty much why we came.”
Even after all this time, Zelos was never prepared for her nonplussed answers. “
Really?”
“Not like that!” Lloyd countered pretty aggressively. Ouch. “I mean
we haven’t seen the both of you in so long, especially with all the work you guys do. And also, because
”
Colette finished for him. “We wanted you to know about this too with Lloyd. We don’t expect you to know the answers, just
 It’s important to know.”
Important to know. Zelos internalized those words, given by the one he most admired. If it had been himself subjected to his wings going wrong, he’d have gone off the map and never looked back.
Imagine trusting your friends this much. He still had some things to learn about that.
With a small show of bravery, maybe from her time as Chief, Sheena reached out to grasp hold of Lloyd’s hand. There were a few feathers stuck in her hair, which she must have noticed but didn’t make any attempt to brush off. “We’re always going to accept you, Lloyd. No matter what happens. We’ll still try to find out if there’s some way to deal with this, but I and the entire village of Mizuho got your back.”
“Uh, thanks!” Lloyd blurted out. “I didn’t mean for this to be a big deal
”
“Bud, you got a whole new pair of appendages on your back and they ain’t the glowing kind anymore. It’s kind of a big deal. But, this just means I gotta watch out for you even more! Hugs!”
“Ow, watch the wings! No, don’t touch that!”
Even with Lloyd whining while he pulled him, Colette, and Sheena into a group hug. He meant what he said. He needed to watch out for Lloyd now, and any person that gave him a hard time with his wings was going to have to answer to Zelos. If I had paid more attention back then, maybe I’d have an answer for him, he thought. I should have done better.
Could have’s, would have’s, should have’s. No need to dwell on the past. He could help Lloyd now, as he promised he always would when a certain country hick decided to place his faith in him.
And a little group hug was never a bad thing! But tell that to Sheena’s slap, which sent his cheek burning. Hey, worth it though.
--
Before Lloyd and Colette would leave on the next stop of their trip, Sheena had pulled Colette aside, squeezing the girl’s hand.
“Colette, was it bad?” she asked.  They were outside of the village gates, Lloyd a bit off in the distance with Zelos, subjected to listening to the once-Chosen’s nonsense. The little kitty named Blippy (such a Colette-name, of course) was being petted by Zelos who had insisted he’d be allowed to before they left. “I feel like you skipped out on some details earlier.”
Her friend smiled, but it was a smile that Lloyd had once said was the kind to hide away pain. It didn’t last long though, as Colette let it fall with the sound of the crickets nearby. “There was a lot of blood,” she whispered. “He healed up, but
for a while, I was really worried.”
Sheena had made a promise to herself that she wouldn’t let Colette suffer alone, not after seeing everything that had happened to her. And Colette had their friends, she had Lloyd, and she even had Zelos, the numbskull that he was.
But Sheena wanted to also be useful.
She pulled Colette in a hug, letting the girl rest her head on her shoulder. She had to admit that Zelos had the right idea, that sometimes being able to be vulnerable like this with one another was okay. She felt Colette’s hands press against her back, absorbing the warmth she needed, the calm she needed. Sometimes, she felt so frail that a strong gust of wind could knock her down.
When Sheena stepped back, she then slipped a precious item into Colette’s palm. “Take this for luck,” she said. It was a small wooden charm, its top side engraved with curving letters. “And seriously, come back to us for anything at all, okay?”
Colette gazed at the charm, long enough for the crickets to finish their song, and for the warbling nightbirds to come out. “Thank you so much, Sheena. I promise we’ll come back!”
Yet, there was a part of Sheena, as he gazed at Colette’s smile, that wanted to go with them, that wanted to travel and make sure they would be okay, to watch how else Lloyd’s wings would shift or change. But she knew she had her own responsibilities.
And she knew Zelos felt the same, or why else was he hanging around Lloyd and trying to get the kitty to like him, and insisted to walk them off to the fields and watch them leave, probably until they were nothing but specks in the distance?
Hopefully, the next time won’t be after another year.

Ozette was still in the middle of Lezareno’s rebuilding efforts. It was a massive undertaking, even with Regal’s unending resources. The small town had been built within giant tree boughs, which some had been burnt to the ground by Cruxis’ attack. Sometimes, remains could still be found underneath the wreckage, and the magical fire that had been used had even rendered some of the soil lifeless, which called for massive replacements. It was a hard task, but one that both Regal and Presea were dedicated to.
It wasn’t often he visited, or even could. There was usually so much in Altamira that needed his attention now, including the shutdown of all the Exsphere mines his company had managed. But it was routine by now to check up on both the project and his friend, and he always made time in his schedule for it. Even compared to Altamira’s continuously sunny skies, he had long grown used to the shadowed grounds of the forest, the soft solitude of it, and the mist always in the far reaches of the gargantuan trees.
It was on one of these visits that he saw a peculiar sight above, easier to see against the tree trunks and the dark. The familiar pink glow which trailed stardust in the air, and then the shape of white wings, which tried to flap in sync with the pink. Tried, but did not always succeed.
“You have more company, it looks like,” he told Presea, who had gone to sweep away the fallen leaves over her father’s grave.
She followed his gaze, and the warmth in her eyes made her face glow. A year, and she was regaining her emotions more easily now. But, there was also concern. She had noticed, too.
When Lloyd and Colette descended to the ground, it was with a little trepidation. Lloyd had nearly stumbled to his side before Colette reached out an arm to grab him, all while she carried a basket in the other. The wings on his back flapped, their height reaching past his head.
“Regal! Presea!” Colette called out eagerly, and maybe Lloyd would have done the same if he weren’t still trying to get his wings to stay level and not pull him back to the ground.
“Hey!” Lloyd later joined in. “Uh, guess this is one way to show you
We would have used the Rheairds, but the trees here make it hard to turn in them.”
Even with later explanations, it wasn’t long before Regal surmised what had happened.
“I am sorry you had to go through such an ordeal, Lloyd,” he said, his tone grievous. In the shadows of Ozette’s trees, the fireflies were numerous, casting their glow on everyone’s faces. He saw how one of the insects flitted around Lloyd’s wings, which despite the lack of light, still seemed to shine so brightly in the dark from its white coloring. “I have noticed the angels we fought would have similar wings, but I’m afraid I never delved into why that was.”
“I didn’t really think much about it either,” Lloyd said with a small laugh. “We were fighting them so much at the time. It was hard to think of them as
” He stopped, thinking.
“To think of them as like us,” Presea finished for him. Throughout the past year, she had finally started to age, her height finally reaching past an inch or two, certainly already taller than Genis. “They were our enemies. It was only natural to see them as that and not much more.”
Lifeless enemies. Emotionless. With wings of solid feathers and bones that they were forced to carry, with never a complaint. A year before, Regal had been so bogged down by his own guilt, seeking punishment so deeply to escape any more responsibility, that he could hardly notice the suffering of those people. Enemies or otherwise.
“Have you tried removing your Exsphere?” Regal asked. “With your key crest still intact, it should hopefully be safe to do so.”
A small nervous fidget. Lloyd pressed his right palm over the back of his left hand. “I did. But, it doesn’t make these things go away. I’ve even had it off for a few days.”
“Perhaps it needs to be for longer?” But Regal suspected that maybe they had already considered such an option. “I understand we still don’t know the long-lasting effects of these stones. Cruxis had thousands of years to experiment with them, and we don’t know all their secrets
 Except for Yuan, possibly.”
Colette made a sound then, as if finding a hidden connection that she had initially missed before. “You know, the Professor said the same thing.”
“Did she?” Regal smiled fondly, wondering if the next letter he’d receive from her would discuss this very same subject. “Well, seeing as he is the only connection to Cruxis left, it would make sense.”
Lloyd sighed. “I guess so.”
“You would rather not then?”
“Agh, maybe? I
I don’t know!” Lloyd crossed his arms. The fabric of his jacket creaked, particularly from the back of it. Regal could see some tearing, how some of it had been mended, if a bit messily. “I don’t
know what I’m looking for.”
Regal did not want to assume that he understood then what Lloyd was struggling with, but he had a suspicion. Removing the wings would not be a simple matter, and so

However, Presea beat him to the bunch with a bit more bluntness. “You know you may need to accept the fact that these new wings will be a part of you from now on.”
The fireflies floated around her face; there was only a few changes about her, such as her twin-tails style now just a single ponytail, and her dress now switched for a working outfit—tough overalls and leather gloves and boots that were better suited for all the construction efforts of the Ozette rebuilding project.
She paused, thinking carefully over her next words within the humid forests. “Unless drastic measures must be taken. Is that your worry?”
Colette paled at that but said nothing. Lloyd looked to the side.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said such a thing. It was thoughtless.”
“Ah, no,” Colette quickly answered. “It’s
something we’ve talked about.”
Silence fell between them all, a deep one where Regal felt Lloyd’s struggles and Colette’s empathy, how she reached for Lloyd’s hand with hers, which he gratefully took. The motion had been so soft, both helpless against such a problem and afraid to know the answer to.
However, Regal knew more than anyone how easy it was to let one’s thoughts spiral away into darkness, so he put up an offer. “Would you like to see what we’ve been building?”
Presea saw what he was aiming for, quickly joining in. “We’re establishing the upper foundations and outlining the general shops. We’ve been able to make access to the upper levels of the town.”
Lloyd and Colette turned, eyes catching onto what they meant in the distance. The giant tree root that had once served as a natural walkway had been destroyed in the attack, but it had now been replaced by curving wooden stairs, one that hugged against a tree trunk that had survived Cruxis’ cruelty.
“Wow, it’s already coming along that much? That’s awesome!” Lloyd grinned, eager to see the improvement. Still, there was some hesitance in his eyes. “Um, but is it okay if I
?”
“The workers have their time off for the week, so it’s only me and Presea here to survey the land.” He gestured for them to follow him, then added. “Besides, it’s not all the time I get to catch up with dear friends.”
--
Presea had already suspected there was an animal in the little basket Colette carried. It was the way the girl held it carefully, how she no longer seemed to trip over every dip (and non-dip) of the ground. When it came to animals, Colette had always been so careful, and always put more thought into her steps.
The first thing Presea saw were the paw pads and how they clutched at the rim of the basket. Then, followed by a soft meow.
“So cute.” Her eyes were drawn to the little creature, watching its head poke up from the basket lid, blinking golden eyes at her.
“Oh, did you want to pet Blippy?” Colette asked. She moved the lid further up in its open position, revealing the kitten with its white fur, its furry face, and its paw pads upturned for all the world to see.
Presea knew this little animal’s story. She snuck a glance at Lloyd, who was seated on one of the giant tree boughs of Ozette that had survived, overlooking the half-completed shops, the cut lumber in their designated spots for the workers when they came back from their time off. His wings stayed folded against his back, their white feathers full and soft.
Blippy pawed at her hands, reached for them. A smile lifted her cheeks.
“You can hold him, if you want.” Colette scooped up the kitten in one hand. How easily it could fit just within the palm.
“Oh
that would be nice,” Presea answered gratefully. “So, it is a boy?”
“Hehe, yeah! You can tell by the fur patterns.” Colette deposited Blippy into Presea’s arms. “We still wonder how he got to that river by himself, if he ran away from his mother or was abandoned by an owner. But he seems to be healthy now.”
Presea heard Colette’s words, like warm sunshine that soothed her skin, but once she felt the kitten’s fur, she was lost. Blippy snuggled into her chest, seeking her out as if she was the safest place to be. She pressed her fingertips against the top of his head and felt a flutter in her stomach.
Lloyd was very kind, wasn’t he? But Presea had always known that. He had gone ahead to rescue this animal with no thought of anything else, because that was who Lloyd was.
The white of Lloyd’s wings. The white of the kitten’s fur. It had to be fate, she thought.
All throughout, she held small Blippy tenderly. She heard the gentle bass of Regal’s voice, mixing with Lloyd and Colette’s own voices. The reconstruction of Ozette was coming along, though it would not be as quickly made as Palmacosta was. These trees were ancient, perhaps dating back to the age of the Kharlan War. Many trees had been burned, and it would take years, perhaps decades, for any new trees to grow up to even a miniscule of their ancestors’ sizes. Still, they would try.
The Ozette Presea knew—that she had grown up with—would never again be the same, secluded village she had known. But not everything had to stay the same forever. Time itself had stilled for her, until, finally, it started to move. Change is inevitable, as Raine once said.
So that is why she told Lloyd, now balancing Blippy on her lap, who kneaded his paws against her pants, “It is natural to be scared.”
They were sitting on the porch of her home, where the once rotten furniture had finally been replaced, where cobwebs had been swept away, where the stench of death had finally dissipated so that she could breathe. Regal had helped her with some essentials, but some pieces, such as the dining table, and the mugs, she had made herself.
She knew Lloyd felt awkward being inside, worried how his wings might upset any fixtures. So they sat together, watching how the sunlight filtered from above, how it was swallowed by the mist.
“Colette is scared,” Lloyd admitted to her. Regal and Colette were chatting with each other now, still looking over the construction. “I know she didn’t want to use her wings yet. She’s worried that this will happen to her too.” He sighed, leaning his head forward to press against his hands. “I don’t want to make her live like this.”
“But Lloyd
have you considered that she still wants to stay by your side? No matter what happens?” She rushed a hand down Blippy’s back, hearing him purr. The sound was magical. “And that maybe she is frightened about something else?”
Lloyd’s wings were grand things indeed. One wing nearly hid him from sight, despite them sitting next to one another. Then he shifted that same wing, looking at her and at the kitten she played with.
“What else would she frightened of?”
“That you will try to unburden her.” She was not entirely sure of that, but she had a suspicion—Colette’s sad eyes, and the longing in them. “That, maybe, you would think she would be better off without you.”
Lloyd didn’t immediately deny it. He turned to stare out into the trees. The soft trill of insects keened through the air. “I was already worried that this journey would be hard on her. Now
” he gestured to his wings. “There’s this to deal with.”
“Lloyd, please believe me when I say this,” she whispered, pressing a thumb against Blippy’s right paw pad. Soft. Bouncy. The silliness of it helped with her words. “You never believed Colette to be a burden, as she herself feared. So why would Colette think that of you?”
The white of Lloyd’s wings was so bright that anyone could find him in the dark. Maybe that’s how Lloyd found this little kitten in the water so quickly.
Eventually, it was time for Lloyd and Colette to go. Presea last recalled how she hugged Blippy very, very gently, hearing his purrs vibrate against her skin. Then, she handed the kitten back to Lloyd.
“Oh! Uh, Colette has the basket
” But Lloyd took the kitten still. Tiny paws reached up to grasp at his wings, managing only to snag a feather, one that was loose and fluttered to the ground.
“He is good to hold, isn’t he?” Presea already missed the fur, the soft beans she had poked, and the golden eyes that drew everything in. “Take care.”
Lloyd held onto the kitten for a moment longer, and in his expression, she found some reassurance.
He just needed to be reminded of it sometimes.

Spring favorites 2023!
------------------------------------------ GREETINGS ------------------------------------------ May 27/ 2023
Hello, it's been 3 months now, but I’ve been busy with other things, mainly shop prep and convention prep since I will be attending my local anime convention as a vendor this year! I was so happy I got accepted because let me say the job hunting has not been going well and I thought that I was cursed or something.
I'm like well at least one thing turned out well for me this year so far... I have updated my shop content and would very much appreciate the support!
http://shinahartshop.etsy.com
thank you so much for the support if you purchase anything, and now on to the long blog post because there is a theme of trash people this month...lol.

Tumblr media
waiting for my friend to come back from vacation to finally finish the last of us, this is the problem when you watch something with another person and they leave for a while...lmao I watched the game play so I'm good in terms of plot but imagine if you never did.
Tumblr media
I’ve been out of the drama loop for a while but I have been watching boys plant, which s the rebranding of the produce series...its still the same in my opinion, the way they focus only on people that are popular because they are trying to make you pick them, while others have zero screen time at all.
ugh...I watched it but felt nothing, not like when I really was invested in X1, they had so much potential as a group to grow but Mnet did them dirty and I'm still pissed off at that. I had no favorites anyways, these boys don't really know what they are getting into. The only one that surprised me was pentagon's leader Hui came onto the show as a contestant and how he got there was because he didn’t get that much work after coming back from the army and noticed that his group had become irrelevant, which is really sad cause I remember he wrote songs for the last produce series and now he’s on the show not as a mentor but as a contestant to compete with other younger singers who cater towards the new k-pop fans.
sigh...I hope everything goes well for him even if he doesn’t make it into this group.

MANHWA/MANGA/WEBTOONS --------------------------------------------
Recap:
I’m just going to put up the ongoing list only. I also eliminated some titles because they are now completed or I dropped them for now Ongoing
Ongoing
Liveta (hiatus)
Pearl boy
Kings Maker (S3)
One night mate (hiatus)
Night fragments (hiatus)
The pizza delivery man and the gold palace
the foul
killer crush
Instatiable man (hiatus)
I became a lousy side top
tread lightly on thawing ice
Updates on ongoing titles:
Okay so some updates are happening I'll save the most controversial for last.
the pizza delivery man and the gold palace:
it's been on hiatus since January but it's finally back with some steamy scenes between woowon and seoan, they are both really precious and I really like how thier relationship developed over the course of the story so far. I have never really realted to another character before woowon and I'm hoping to see more of how he will overcome his life struggles, because right now I'm also going through some sh*t and it's really important to have support from people you care about, like seoan.
wowoon has not dated for 6 years and is a little overwhelmed by the affection seon has been showing him with and they are so cute....I'm going to present you with a spicy screenshot and they way they look at each other is...chef's kiss perfection. lol.
Tumblr media
kings maker S3:
kings maker is back finally with wolf gang and shin's daughter, well I guess it's wofgang's baby by blood cause of the ritual in which they used his blood or something...I don't remember the details, but he got a cute baby girl and she's so adorable, I might draw fanart of her soon cause I can't resisit.lol.
so far it is through her point of view as she is went from small baby with incredible strength to a little toddler wanting to be queen soon and the fastest possible way is to get her dads to retire and married off lol.
look at her, she's so cute!
Tumblr media
so far we just follow her around the palace and see what shenanigan's she's up to but there’s not actual plot as of yet, but it honestly just come back a while ago so it's really too early to say. all I'm hoping for is to see some more sys and randolph content, i’ve been deprived of that for a good while so that would be cute to see.
sigh ...now for the most controversial...Pearl boy
of course this would bring all sorts of people to the threads with it's recent chapters, I think the last time I left off was when dooshik was in the middle of saving jooha from the captives..the porn crew. In the end a human is a human and dooshik was brought down by the daehwi the twin with the long hair, with a gun...my man was shot and was lieing there getting beaten by ugly ass thugs. Jooha in this situation had realized that dooshik was the one who saved him from the same thing that happened 4 years ago and you get to see a bit of backstory behind that and how that interaction went. dooshik also had  a flash back to when his mother was around and how his life had fallen apart when his mother essentially only cared of herself and possibly put dooshik through a lot of things..ie. growing up fast and having to take care of a grown ass adult, possibly getting him to quit judo, the way that he looks at his jacket made it seem like it was something important to him that he had to give up.
I can't imagine everything that he went through and still believed that life is essentially still worth living, especially when he told jooha the best way to take revenge was to live a happy life. Ideally yes that would be the right way to go, but in this situation they are dealing with  a person with power, reporting him to the police is not going to do any good cause we all know one thing...police suck! they only speak money, they care more about getting a higher rank in the field than actually helping people in trouble, just reporting pilwon would only put him in jail for 1 day and then he's free cause bail money...
so it's not going to do any good, dooshik realizes this and after a heartwarming moment between jooha and himself while in the hospital bed recovering, he finally lost all his senses and became enraged. Let's just say that he used almost the same method the porn people used on jooha but with the twin that he captured " the short haired one -daekwang" who I honestly don't get why people like...you don't even know his character well yet. now this was the most controversial chapter that made people really hate dooshik, morally yes it was inhumane and nobody wants to see it because it's unsettling.
but  people seem to have forgotten this daekwang guy is involved with kidnapping young men with his porn filming crew since a long time ago, years ago when jaeil was almost involved with these people...but managed to get out of it. they drug these boys ( dooshik's ex boyfriend was drugged and ended up dying from overdose) and make them film porn to sell to old rich creepy men...this was their "business" and suddenly there are people defending his ass...I'm like what are you on about? dooshik should not give them a taste of thier own medicine because it's wrong...did you forget what he did not only to jooha but other people? some people were like he should have just killed pilwon and it would be fine, yeah pilwon should die, but these people are also doing his dirty work for him, that man never needed to lift a finger to get what he wanted cause he had subordinates that were desperate enough to follow him.
Don't know if you are aware but there are so much manhwa/manga/webtoons with a similar plot where the bad guys never suffered their repercussions and get off Scott free, I'm glad that at least in this webtoon people do suffer for their actions. Most manga that focuses on revenge in the end never follow through with it.
if your boyfriend decided to get revenge for you for being r*ped by having his men to do the same to one of your assailants ...how do you really feel? most people put their morals before what they actually would do and say things like yeah it's wrong, It's not going to change anything...yeah it won't change the fact that I was a victim, but I won't think that it's wrong...cause in a way what goes around comes around and instead of waiting for a higher power to deal with it, if you want something done do it yourself....am I against it? no...that's because i'm petty and to have my assailant feel what I felt in that moment, it would make me feel better, even if what happened would not change anything...I hope that makes sense.
me though...I would have chopped off his dick...
but some people...they keep saying he's turning into pilwon and that is so not true, that a-hole can and will probably die a mundane death after his lackeys aren’t around anymore. Dooshik cannot process the pain that he's in so he became a person using interrogation as an act of revenge and committed himself into torturing and murdering to get what he wants, which is to get rid of all of jooha's demons. Does he find this enjoyable? NOPE look at his face, he looks like someone who witnessed his loved one die. People started making sh*t up saying that he was enjoying watching someone get r*ped...and that caused others who can't read korean look at the raw images and deduce the same thing without reading the actual chapter and understanding the dialogue exchanged and looking at character expressions.
I can't with this fandom, I know every fandom sh*tty people but this one in particular has a bunch of them, I don't interact with anyone for the very reason that if you say one thing another person will be quick to bring you down.
Tumblr media
sigh....it's honestly really sad to see someone whose so strong really lose his sh*t and mentally suffering after being with him for 80 chapters...I want to see this part of him even if is ugly since I have been saying since the early chapters of pearl boy that dooshik's character is one of a kind. this boy made me cry....I don't cry for any fictional being. lol
anyways i'll let you decide on what you think of him with that, the story is far from over so there’s lots to unfold still, so I wish people would honestly just f*cken wait till the story is done to start spewing non sense and making up false theories
see trash segment for examples of some dumb sh*t....
I swear these people are all minors or something, y'all should not be reading this at all if you think this is going to follow a shounen anime plot..eww. go watch your anime and stick to that.
Tumblr media
--------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to some spicy reads (21+) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- okie dokie onto some trash titles, lol. not really I have another segment for that, this months theme is " trash semes ...but are they really?" the answer is yes they are trash humans that do inhumane things but I can't completely hate them. in contrast to dooshik and what he was doing...the first two are literally absolute a-holes, they let you know that from chapter 1 onwards
because it's been three months and I had to narrow it down for once and just stick with a theme. forgive me if I forget some of the plot cause its been that long and I don't want to revisit these stories to get every detail since they are so long.

Tumblr media
"Ex-convict Park Mokhwa wants nothing more than to keep his head low and stay out of anything that has to do with his past. However, his new-found tranquility as a florist is shattered by the appearance of Kim Nakwon, corrupt cop and unabashed hedonist. Nakwon is sure that Mokhwa’s the key to cracking an important case, and he’ll do anything to get the taciturn man to talk. The best way to make someone confess is to cause them pain, and Nakwon thinks he knows just what’ll hurt Mokhwa the most. But despite Nakwon’s best efforts, Mokhwa continues to stay silent. It’s not often that life doesn’t go the way Nakwon wants it to, so his obsession with Mokhwa only grows stronger..."
Yeah the summary pretty much says it all, mokhwa is an ex convict that was wrongfully put into jail for killing his step sister's boyfriend and after his release was shunned by his aunt and uncle and is now just working a a local flower shop as a florist. he was approached one day by a cop named nakwon and was accused of still being involved with his ex mafia boss, whom nakwon is looking for.
nakwaon forces himself onto mokhwa and assaults him to really strike fear and embarrassment within mokhwa so that he will cooperate and tell him what he needs to know. Yeah ladies and gents this guy is a big duche from chapter one onwards, he's a corrupted cop and uses force and humiliation on suspects in order to get them to admit their wrongdoings and arrest them, but he's a dick for the assault part cause that was unnecessary, he just thought because mokhwa is technically bigger and a criminal that that's what he gets. I'm like sir..where is your proof? another reason for hating the police... nakwon will not take no for an answer and so he begins to do monitoring on mokhwa and even told his boss that he is under suspicion.
his boss is a nice lady who treated mokhwa like a little brother and so he calls her noona (sister) even if they aren’t related. nakwon came to visit mokhwa everyday and noticed little things about him that usually people will leave in their thoughts but he was just complaining about everything this man was doing form his customer service skills to the way that he dresses...
but because they visit each other everyday, mokhwa started to get accustomed to nakwon's company, even if he is unlikable. mokhwa had been shunned by his actual family and had always been alone so having this person come and see him every day, made him feel a little better. nakwon really wanted to get info out of him and so spends most of his time watching nakwon do work and sometimes providing help when his customer service skills were lacking. one day when nakwon came to visit there were a bunch of other men in the flower shop with mokhwa and it turns out they were mokhwas men when he was still in the mafia, the guys heard that he was out of prison and works here so they came to see him, it turns out his men have been doing other things since he was in jail and they became a moving service and does deliveries...this part I don’t really remember, think they are still in the mafia but doing other things.
mokhwa had to prepare some flower baskets for parents day and so there were a bunch of orders to fulfill which then his men helped out and nakwon reluctantly took charge since non of them knew how to do it. even if mokhwas men knew that nakwon was a detective they think he wasn’t a bad person and so treated him like a "friend of the boss" they even went to eat bbq and drink all night. nakwon at this time had started to have weird feelings towards mokhwa, it seems like he's just confused as to why he's so interested in him? they spent some time together in a small hotel and nakwon felt weird that mokhwa was the most exposed he's ever been in a bath robe and it made him want to tough him. mokhwa was so shocked that he just let him do it and so they just toughed each other and instantly regretted it after. nakwon took some time away from mokhwa and some news of the mafia boss visiting him made him doubt that mokhwa had nothing to do with the mafia anymore and so he felt enraged/betrayed by that and went to assault mokhwa again....f*cken dumbass, I hate characters that take their anger out on others because they can't understand their own feelings...its so stupid.
well anyways, he kind of felt bad after he saw the condition he was in and tended to his wounds...which makes zero sense after what he just did. mokhwa easily accepts the offer reluctantly, that is when nakwon realizes that even if he’s treated like utter sh*t you treat him a little well and he will forgive you...which made him feel terrible, well at least he has somewhat of a conscience..
nakwon was busy trying to put this case to rest and actually met with the former boss of the mafia but under a different name at a social gathering, turns out this gut had a lot of money and was starting a new business, but of course like all mafia is doing shady things under ground. nakwon got informed by one of mokhwas men that one of the old subordinates has turned on them and was going after mokhwa. mokhwa was then captured and drugged along with his noona and to spare her he open the door to the car and pushed her out before they knocked him unconscious.
the florist noona was brought to the hospital for treatment and someone witnessed her pushed  out of a car. Nakwon was dealing with finally arresting someone involved the mafia he wasn’t supposed to do anything with mokhwa's case but hearing that he knew about the kidnapping and risked a big shot getting let go and went to essentially track down mokhwa.
he finally was able to locate the warehouse where mokhwa was taken but during that time mokhwas was being torutured by one of his old followers which turned his back on mokhwa during his time in jail. when nakwon arrived he saw that person next to a beaten and bloody mokhwa and literally went feral...lol
if you kill/injure a person you will have to step down from your position but he didn’t care one bit...he made sure that mofo was dead! so in a way i'm glad he's committed. after he finally processed his feelings and loss, he bawled his eyes out wanting mokhwa to come back to him alive and broke his own had as an act of repayment for the time he injured mokhwa's hand out of anger...this guy is dramatic as hell. if you can't guess it, mokhwa is okay, he was barely breathing but he was able to be taken to the hospital in time when the other police officers got there. Nakwon had to return the gun a step down for the time being while this whole thing is being investigated and he was okay with that, after accepting the fact that mokhwa became his world he broke off prior engagements with his ex-girlfriend and began working at the floral shop while mokhwa was in the hospital at the time. When mokhwa was released from the hospital he was wondering why nakwon acted that way, he was half unconscious but still heard him pleading for mokhwa to wake up, he was sure that he was someone who will be alone forever but after seeing nakwon wait for him to return back to the flower shop he was glad that he still had a home to go back to.
and that is the end of season one, there is still many things unanswered like the issue with the ex mafia boss and mokhwa and how they knew each other, why mokhwa is not saying anything pertaining to his ex-boss and finally will we see nakwon in his true form..lol. I mean expressing his feelings for mokhwa now that he knows he's in love with him.
2)Love history caused by willful negligence
Tumblr media
"The only flaw of actor Lee Wooyeon, who is on the road to success without facing a single slump, is that his manager never lasts. With a time period of three months to observe him as a manager. Choi Inseop becomes Lee Wooyeon’s manager in search for revenge. He was not the Lee Wooyeon who was loved by people, but another Lee Wooyeon. Inseop had to uncover the truth. Because he had made a promise."
Firstly, I just wanted you all to know that wooyeon let's you know what kind of dick he is right in chapter one, he does not get any better than this so don't expect much. He is the kind of person that knows how to manipulate a social situation in his favor without letting anyone discover his true nature. When I mean true nature, it just means that he has a lot of inner thoughts about people...I would compare him to the protagonist in the netflix series "you" the guy stalks a woman he's interested in and has this whole narrative of how she is supposed to be in his eyes. Woo yeon just has disturbing thoughts about people and sometimes when people push him over the edge they get their asses kicked.lol.
to be honest, I can't hate the guy,I mean how many times have you thought a person deserves to get their asses handed to them? or in my case how many entitled a-holes you had to deal with on a daily basis at work.lol. some times you just want to kill them and wooyeon does that...with a brick  in an alley way...
he's like i'll see you in the alleyway later my friend ...
Tumblr media
His company ceo and his company manager were worried that they will not be able to cover his ass any longer so they decided to go look for the perfect candidate to become wooyeon’s personal manager. wooyeon had a knack for switching managers every few weeks because they keep quitting, it turns out they cant handle the pressure of dealing with wooyeon and he manages to get them to quit on their own accord. The new manager showed up pristine and on time, his name is inseop and he is a self proclaimed fan of lee woo yeon...this is going to go well, like any celerity this automatically does not sit well with wooyeon cause he could be a "sasang fan" - extreme stalker fans and so he was on guard and will eventually get inseop to quit on his own soon.
But as time goes by wooyeon notices that inseop knew exactly what he preferred in terms of music and expectations of a manager and it made him curious as to how he knew everything. Inseop claims he is a fan of his but sometimes it seems like wooyeon suspects that it wasn't the case because he didn’t get that feeling form him.
inseop was in fact somewhat of an acquaintance of wooyeon back in their college days and this whole scheme to become his manager was to really avenge his friend that was treated badly by his possy of friends in college. So inseop was planning on exposing wooyeon’s affairs to the public through a news article but it wasn't enough to change public opinion so he needed his " weakness" in order to expose the fraud celebrity. Okay just a little tid bit...i don't think public opinion matters that much, celebs do dumb shit on a daily, exposing someone isn’t going to stop people from liking them. they might be cancelled for that one thing but It won't really ruin their career unfortunately.
but this matter was a lot more complex than on the surface as inseop's friend jennie was already suffering from mental health issues and that whatever happened in college lead to her passing and inseop cannot let her death be in vain.
after getting involved with wooyeon’s life he just wanted the necessary info for his exposure and just go back to America like nothing happened, but he found out that the more involved he was with wooyeon the more he began to see certain good aspects of him, sure he was a dick, but wooyeon had saved him from a couple of sexual assaulters he had encountered in a quick stop bathroom. Due to some past traumatic experiences with a past attempt at assault he was reminded of the time when jennie has saved him then. Inseop didn’t want to be grateful because he was going to essentially backstab him when the time comes, but internally he was very grateful. Then these a-holes came back later and attacked wooyeon and he almost drowned, but inseop dived into the lake to save him, this made wooyeon even more curious cause in his mind he was like " isn't this what you wanted? you wanted me to die didn’t you?"
I'll mention this now but it's explained later on that wooyeon is a sociopath, so he does not understand the feelings of other people, he does not understand what is considered right from wrong in a social context and how to deal with people. so he does not get why inseop would save him even though he clearly does not like him.
I guess this was the starting point of them starting to be interested in each other, not romantically but you can tell it was some sort of attraction. Inseop had saved him again when wooyeon's horse for a drama was scared to death by something and started to swing wooyeon off, inseop injured his hand trying to stop the horse, he didn’t have to but he essentially took his role as manager really seriously.
This is when it was explained how inseop knew about wooyeon and their encounter, so jennie was in love with woo yeon, or phillip as he was known in America, he was a quarterback who played football and was famous for his looks and dated some cheerleader...ya'll have seen american shows right? but jennie like other people who liked wooyeon dreamed of communicating with him and essentially gathered info about him to present to her friends...lol as you do, that friend is inseop..or peter which is his American name. Peter had a frail heart which made it difficult for him to go to school and so daily activities, he would offent have to get check ups so that his heart failure will not worsen and was he was spending most of his time bed ridden. Jennie came to visit him and they became best friends, she would often tell him about phillip and what he looked like and make up scenarios about thier encounters. Inseop was curious as to what this "prince" looked liked since he can't go to school often he has no idea who that is.
this part is so cute to me...when peter's mom asked him to get oranges for her marmalade, he went to the local market and grabbed a bag of oranges and saw a bunch of boys play basketball across the street near the market, there was a guy who stood out amongst them and somehow...he knew that was phillip I don't remember if the ball almost hit him and he ran off and almost got hit by a car or something but phillip saved him and inseop tossed him an orange as thanks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he quickly got home and headed to his room cause he felt weird after that encounter. lmao inseop silly...it's called falling in love. I really liked that scene cause it was such an innocent and cute encounter, like how a novel would be written. he them met phillip again when he was able to go to school, his father wanted inseop(peter) to be apart of the korean association  that meets every Saturday, mainly to be in touch with his heritage as a korean-american.
lol. can relate cause I had to go to chinese school on Saturdays. he then realized that Philip was part of the korean association as well and was in his class...and sat beside him...okay raise you hands...how many of you sat beside your crush in class?..like a seat away or in front or behind them...he was called by the teacher to read a poem and peter could not get those words out of him head, he memorized the sound of his voice to his handwriting and would steal glances of him when he wasn't looking, he didn’t tell jennie any of this because he wanted this moment to be in his memory.
if you can't tell by now, inseop despite whatever happened between them in college liked and have always liked wooyeon (Phillip). This of course is still prevalent in the current time line as he admits that he has thought about being in a romantic situation with him and dreamed of kissing him but he decided to but his feelings down for the sake of avenging his friend, which is a terrible thing to do considering what happened to jennie was not wooyeon's fault at all. She became delusional in believing that letters she exchanged with someone was phillip, but in fact it was a bunch of the petty mean girls that were apart of his clique that got a hold of that letter and decided to bully her by writing to her back adding to that delusion. When inseop pointed out that he doenot think its phillip cause he knows what his writing looks like jennie didn’t believe him, that added to the mental instability she currently has made her depression worse and she began to have mood swings. inseop didn’t know how to deal with her sudden change in temper all the time that it made him anxious..
okay PSA time, please get professional help if you are struggling, there are a lot of phone services you can use to talk to someone, if you don’t want to do that, write it out...write whatever comes to mind and don't leave it all inside, you will honestly feel a lot better. But unfortunately for jennie her mother was abusive and not even seeing a therapist was going to stop the abuse, she only had peter as her friend and it was hard for him to bare all of her suffering when he isn't doing well himself, I can't imagine how inseop must feel knowing his friend was suffering and there was nothing he could do about it. But blaming wooyeon is not the answer, so i'm guessing he's only doing this so that he can put an end to his feelings for both wooyeon and jennie, I think he knows in his heart that wooyeon is awful but he’s not a bad person and revenge is pointless when the person you want to avengee is no longer in the world you live in. So we are at the point where inseop finally got the " weakness " he was looking for and now he is planning to give that to the reporter and go back to America.
Tumblr media
sigh...but its really just hurting him cause he's been in love with wooyeon for so long, even saying to himself that he's an sh*t person when he does not believe that. ugh...someone needs to protect this boy, I have read the novel and it has it's ups and downs, but i still think the ending was worth reading so I really hope this novel gets published in English, cause those original book covers are so beautiful, I want the whole set.
I will leave it a this for now cause season 2 just got started and we are in for a ride.
--------------------------------------------------------------- Trash segment (21+) ---------------------------------------------------------------- a.k.a the part of the series where I shit on your favorite manhwa/manga/webtoon etc. Joking but not really, you have been warned.
This is the new section where you’re going to find titles that I dropped and the reasons why I discontinued the series all together, fair warning if you triggered by people criticizing your favorite series then you may want to skip this section all together. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and not every series that is ïżœïżœpopular” or well liked by others will be like by all...therefore if there is content that makes a person uncomfortable enough to stop the series, that is on them and please don’t judge them for their morals. to those who consider quitting series, if it bothers you then just stop! no one is forcing this down your throat you can quit whenever, but don't harass the creator on social media if you dislike their story it's disrespectful.
Trash List:
So to recap, the series that I mentioned dropping so far are
Love or Hate
Yours to claim
Wistful summer
Anti-p.t.
The sound of fire
Kiss damnation
Cherry blossoms after the winter
Chasing Mr. CEO
Who’s a sweet cheater?
Another sequence
Love is a fantasy
Missing love/married man
My reason to die
This month there is no trash manhwa to present only trash people...insert every possible eyerolling meme here...
yes, I'm calling out some people on their dumb comments that literally are just there to start something and they clearly have zero knowledge on the plot but saw a bunch of people commenting on certain screen shots and decided to jump on the bandwagon of hate.... I was going to blur their names but nah whatever...lol.
Tumblr media
this person clearly does not read the manhwa, just saw some screen shots and made their own theory and spat nonsense....this is what I'm getting because if you actually read the webtoon you wouldn’t be telling dooshik to die...lmao I can't... it's so stupid...I hate it the most when people just call him "the seme" I'm like he has a name and if you don't know it t clearly means you don’t read it.
Tumblr media
this person says it s a terrible plot, and goes on with really bad grammar that i have no Idea what on earth they are saying...using terms like the top and bottom..instead of their names when you are trying to prove a point... I literally have never seen these people before in any pearl boy thread it's like they came out the ashes one day just to cause trouble...I'm literally like...who are you?
Tumblr media
this person just needs to leave...they have been tweeting dumb comments for the past two weeks I'm honestly sick of seeing this troll every time I use the hashtags, ended up having to block them cause the tweets were annoying me.lol.
but nothing tops the comments that are like...and this is why I don’t read it anymore and still provide screen shots of the recent chapter...well clearly you did cause you bought the chapter. LMAO. I'm like no one cares if you stopped reading or not...just stop, why are you still here? I had to mute some people on twitter because they started going on about it and it really pissed me off.
that's like waiting in line for 2 hours to tell an actor you hate them...you waited in line and spent money on this...you know when your teacher use to say there is no such thing as a dumb question? that maybe true but there are such things as dumb comments.
Please don't be one of these people, if you have a problem with the story and don't enjoy it anymore just leave, do not go on the writers/creators social media and cause trouble just cause you don't like their story...ugh.at the end of the day this is all just fiction...
Tumblr media
Oshi no ko and skip to loafer currently watching these two only and so far really enjoying them, I will review it when I finish but that’s all I have to update so far. though I will say one thing, I did not expect things to turn out the way it did at the end of episode 1 of oshi no ko, that surprised me and I can see why people are hyping this up, but we shall see as it continues.
Tumblr media
my friend had been listening to NCT's new unit's new song perfume...so that’s all I hear when we hang out together lol. ----------------------------------------------------------------
Ending note:
Omg sorry for the 3-4 month wait, I'm seriously burnt out on writing anything, to be honest I could have finished this sooner but I have been leaving it on the back burner until I felt like writing again.
I've been preparing for a shop update and also a convention coming up...It’s my first time as a vendor! didn't think that I'd get in cause the selection is supposed to be a lottery, but I did and so now I have to make a good stock ready for that event in july. I doubt any of you are know of it, cause its a local convention for me, but i'll announce it on my social media closer to the date.
anyways, I'll try to be on time but can't make promises please let me know if you are reading this by liking the post, cause I feel like I'm writing into a void lol.
thanks, Sheena

**a little irish lesson! putting a slanted line above vowels is very common and can change the meaning of a word entirely. the line’s full name is a ‘síneadh fada’ (“sheena fah-da” (the ah pronounced like ‘o’ in ‘office’)), but is usually only called a ‘fada’.

Steel Reign
I have some thoughts on the Steel Reign DLC for Fallout 76...
I finished "Steel Reign" earlier. It's the follow-up DLC to "Steel Dawn", but effectively they're halves of the same story. Neither of them stands up on their own. Honestly, they should have been released together.
Now that I've got to the end, I feel ... dissatisfied? It wasn't a terrible ending - it certainly wasn't ME3 levels of badness. What you did in the DLC had some relevance to what happened. However there were also some dropped elements. I let Sheena and Burk go at AMS, for instance - and as far as I know, that was it. Nothing further happened. I also let Tally the Unusually-Sane-Seeming Blood Eagle go at Vault 96; as far as I know, that didn't lead to anything either.
As for the finale, I ended up (very reluctantly) bringing Mad Doctor Guy (whose name I should be able to remember, but weirdly, I can't) in for trial. I got the sense that while the scientists he was working with were a long way from blameless, he was the critical bad influence, and possibly without him they could turn things around and be a force for good. (Also, my character uses, and even knows how to make, mutation serums, so it would be a bit hypocritical to say "no positive mutations for you, ever!") But, I felt discontent with this, and I'm not 100% convinced I made the right choice here. Still, with the Brotherhood basically keeping them under house arrest at Fort Atlas, it's fair to say they haven't gotten away with what they did, and hopefully they can be kept under control. Also, awkwardly, the one who makes the "the universities are gone" comment? She does have a point, however insensitive the phrasing was, especially given the way the Wasteland keeps sprouting new super-science hazards.
(Though, I do find myself wondering, where were these people during the first Scorched plague? If they'd offered their services to the Responders, perhaps they'd have got the vaccine ready in time for it to actually make a difference.)
All of that said, though, I also feel like there was a strong argument for simply gunning the Vault 96 Rusty Hacksaws Crew down. They had after all been involved in something quite horrible. While they agreed to stop doing it, and some of them did express some remorse, a couple of them also seemed to be quite without any hint of a moral conscience. The thing that eventually, decisively tilted me toward letting them live was that gunning down unarmed people was just a bit of an "are we the baddies now?" moment. But, I think you could justify it in this case, and not be 100% egregious.
As for Knight Shin, well, he had a tantrum and ran away. Apparently he's running all the way back to California, where he'll be having a whinge at the Lost Hills BoS Elders. Honestly, by this point I was 100% done with Knight Shin and his toxic mix of arrogance, self-superiority and obvious incompetence. (Throwing himself on the explosives, without even trying to disarm them first? Dumb, dumb, dumb!) Good riddance to him - honestly I hope a Scorchbeast poops on him while he's legging it across Appalachia.
As for Initiate Hewson, I think she’s now my favourite BoS character. She basically reacts to everything the way any of us actually would if we somehow found ourselves there. When she said she needed to go and sit down, I knew exactly how she felt!
The main highlights of Steel Dawn for me were actually the bar trip with Paladin Rahmani - that conversation with her was well-written, and actually humanised her quite nicely. (It also definitively established her as a more sane/pleasant person than Shin.) The sections with Aries through the tunnels were interesting, and I did get a laugh out of how quickly Rahmani's "go in disguise" plan fell apart.
One other bit of the plot nagged me: Marcia. While it was nice that Your Choices Do Matter, and it was nice that being compassionate and reasonable to her was worthwhile, I didn't really like the way that you essentially get forced to make a major decision for her. Personally I think staying with the Crater Raiders wouldn't be sensible - while the Crater crowd aren't Chaotic Evil like the FO3 and 4 Raiders, nonetheless they're still Raiders. But, it should have been Marcia's decision. Part of the whole point of her story was that she was reacting to a lifetime of other people interfering and trying to make decisions for her - which made it ridiculous that you have only two options at the end, and both effectively impose a resolution on her!
That said, when I spoke with her later at Fort Atlas, Marcia seemed a lot happier, so at least it worked out OK in the end.
So, that was Steel Reign. It was OK, I guess? It was nice to have some story content in Fo76 again and to have something to do that's not either chasing Events or remodelling my house, but I don't know? I still felt something was missing, if that makes any sense?

Before We Visit the Goddess by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni Sweeping across the twentieth century, from the countryside of Bengal, India, to the streets of Houston, Texas, Before We Visit the Goddess takes readers on an extraordinary journey through the lives of three unforgettable women: Sabitri, Bela, and Tara. As the young daughter of a poor rural baker, Sabitri yearns to get an education, but schooling is impossible on the meager profits from her mother’s sweetshop. When a powerful local woman takes Sabitri under her wing, her generous offer soon proves dangerous after Sabitri makes a single, unforgiveable misstep. Years later, Sabitri’s own daughter, Bela, haunted by her mother’s choices, flees to America with her political refugee lover—but the world she finds is vastly different from her dreams. As the marriage crumbles and Bela decides to forge her own path, she unwittingly teaches her little girl, Tara, indelible lessons about freedom and loyalty that will take a lifetime to unravel. Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates In a profound work that pivots from the biggest questions about American history and ideals to the most intimate concerns of a father for his son, Ta-Nehisi Coates offers a powerful new framework for understanding our nation s history and current crisis. Americans have built an empire on the idea of race, a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of black women and men bodies exploited through slavery and segregation, and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Beautifully woven from personal narrative, reimagined history, and fresh, emotionally charged reportage, Between the World and Me clearly illuminates the past, bracingly confronts our present, and offers a transcendent vision for a way forward.  Black Protest and the Great Migration: a brief history with documents by Eric Arnesen During World War I, as many as half a million southern African Americans permanently left the South to create new homes and lives in the urban North, and hundreds of thousands more would follow in the 1920s. This dramatic transformation in the lives of many black Americans involved more than geography: the increasingly visible “New Negro” and the intensification of grassroots black activism in the South as well as the North were the manifestations of a new challenge to racial subordination. Eric Arnesen’s unique collection of articles from a variety of northern, southern, black, and white newspapers, magazines, and books explores the “Great Migration,” focusing on the economic, social, and political conditions of the Jim Crow South, the meanings of race in general — and on labor in particular — in the urban North, the grassroots movements of social protest that flourished in the war years, and the postwar “racial counterrevolution.” Suggested by Richard Harrison, Research & Information Services
Call Me American by Abdi Nor Iftin The incredible true story of a boy living in war-torn Somalia who escapes to America--first by way of the movies; years later, through a miraculous green card. Suggested by Katie Kirwan, Acquisitions & Collections
Flesh and Bone and Water: a novel by Luiza Sauma In deeply affecting prose, debut novelist Luiza Sauma transports readers to a dramatic place where natural wonder and human desire collide. Cutting across race and class, time and place, from London to Rio to the dense humidity of the Amazon, Flesh and Bone and Water straddles two worlds with haunting meditations on race, sex, and power in a deftly plotted coming-of-age story about the nature of identity, the vicissitudes of memory, and how both can bend to protect us from the truth. Suggested by Megan Haught, Teaching & Engagement/Research & Information Services
Funny in Farsi by Firoozeh Dumas Funny in Farsi chronicles the American journey of Dumas’s wonderfully engaging family: her engineer father, a sweetly quixotic dreamer who first sought riches on Bowling for Dollars and in Las Vegas, and later lost his job during the Iranian revolution; her elegant mother, who never fully mastered English (nor cared to); her uncle, who combated the effects of American fast food with an army of miraculous American weight-loss gadgets; and Firoozeh herself, who as a girl changed her name to Julie, and who encountered a second wave of culture shock when she met and married a Frenchman, becoming part of a one-couple melting pot.  Invisible: how young women with serious health issues navigate work, relationships, and the pressure to seem just fine by Michele Lent Hirsch Lent Hirsch weaves her own harrowing experiences together with stories from other women, perspectives from sociologists on structural inequality, and insights from neuroscientists on misogyny in health research. She shows how health issues and disabilities amplify what women in general already confront: warped beauty standards, workplace sexism, worries about romantic partners, and mistrust of their own bodies. By shining a light on this hidden demographic, Lent Hirsch explores the challenges that all women face. Suggested by Megan Haught, Teaching & Engagement/Research & Information Services
It All Falls Down by Sheena Kamal The brilliant, fearless, deeply flawed Nora Watts—introduced in the atmospheric thriller The Lost Ones—finds deadly trouble as she searches for the truth about her late father in this immersive thriller that moves from the hazy Canadian Pacific Northwest to the gritty, hollowed streets of Detroit. Suggested by Sara Duff, Acquisitions & Collections
Lady Cop Makes Trouble by Amy Stewart In 1915, lady cops were not expected to chase down fugitives on the streets of New York City. But Constance Kopp never did what anyone expected. Based on the Kopp sisters’ real-life adventures, Girl Waits with Gun introduced the sensational lives of Constance Kopp and her sisters to an army of enthusiastic readers. This second installment, also ripped from the headlines, takes us farther into the riveting story of a woman who defied expectations, forged her own path, and tackled crime along the way.  Not Here by Hieu Minh Nguyen Not Here is a flight plan for escape and a map for navigating home; a queer Vietnamese American body in confrontation with whiteness, trauma, family, and nostalgia; and a big beating heart of a book. Nguyen’s poems ache with loneliness and desire and the giddy terrors of allowing yourself to hope for love, and revel in moments of connection achieved. Suggested by Sara Duff, Acquisitions & Collections
The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson An uplifting story about two teenagers set in the modern day in the United Kingdom. The author was inspired to write this novel after working in England's national health service, in a department dedicated to helping teens who are questioning their gender identity.  The Diversity Index: the alarming truth about diversity in corporate America and what can be done about it by Susan E. Reed Based on award-winning journalist Susan E. Reed's groundbreaking study of Fortune 100 companies, The Diversity Index considers the historical reasons we went wrong, taking a close look at the "Plans for Progress" protocol developed in 1961, which defined the steps of affirmative action. It was initially considered a failure for not providing immediate results. This book analyzes the long-term, widespread effectiveness of the plan, and reveals the stories behind the few companies that have made a difference, breaking down the 10 simple steps you can take at your own organization to fully develop integration, keep it growing, and empower your employees to develop new products and markets.  Suggested by Sandy Avila, Research & Information Services
The Promised Land: the great black migration and how it changed America by Nicholas Lemann A New York Times bestseller, the groundbreaking authoritative history of the migration of African-Americans from the rural South to the urban North. A definitive book on American history, The Promised Land is also essential reading for educators and policymakers at both national and local levels. Suggested by Richard Harrison, Research & Information Services
The Way You Make Me Feel by Maurene Goo Clara Shin lives for pranks and disruption. When she takes one joke too far, her dad sentences her to a summer working on his food truck, the KoBra, alongside her uptight classmate Rose Carver. Not the carefree summer Clara had imagined. But maybe Rose isn't so bad. Maybe the boy named Hamlet (yes, Hamlet) crushing on her is pretty cute. Maybe Clara actually feels invested in her dad’s business. What if taking this summer seriously means that Clara has to leave her old self behind? With Maurene Goo's signature warmth and humor, The Way You Make Me Feel is a relatable story of falling in love and finding yourself in the places you’d never thought to look. Suggested by Sara Duff, Acquisitions & Collections
When They Call You a Terrorist: a black lives matter memoir by Patrisse Khan-Cullors and Asha Bandele When They Call You a Terrorist is Patrisse Khan-Cullors and asha bandele’s reflection on humanity. It is an empowering account of survival, strength and resilience and a call to action to change the culture that declares innocent Black life expendable. Suggested by Katie Kirwan, Acquisitions & Collections
White kids: growing up with privilege in a racially divided America by Margaret A. Hagerman Featuring the actual voices of young, affluent white kids and what they think about race, racism, inequality, and privilege, White Kids illuminates how white racial socialization is much more dynamic, complex, and varied than previously recognized. It is a process that stretches beyond white parents’ explicit conversations with their white children and includes not only the choices parents make about neighborhoods, schools, peer groups, extracurricular activities, and media, but also the choices made by the kids themselves. By interviewing kids who are growing up in different racial contexts—from racially segregated to meaningfully integrated and from politically progressive to conservative—this important book documents key differences in the outcomes of white racial socialization across families. And by observing families in their everyday lives, this book explores the extent to which white families, even those with anti-racist intentions, reproduce and reinforce the forms of inequality they say they reject. Lost in Space #40
Howdy, Isolans! We have conducted an activity check for the month of April!
If your character isn’t on this list, make sure to check this page to see how many stars that character has earned this month! Stars can be used for purchases at the marketplace.
The blogs that were removed from the Isola Radiale masterlist are under the cut. Note that both blogs with broken links and deactivated accounts will be included both at the top of this list and in their proper categories.
If you were removed in error, please simply send a re-application message. Several different people work on the activity checks, so it’s possible there are mistakes! If this happens to you, you will be able to keep everything you previously had, you just may be placed in a different residence.
Our general activity rules regarding checks are as follows:
Make at least two in-character posts during a calendar month (for instance, if the activity check is for January, have two in-character posts between the 1st and 31st of January).
Only one meme response of 300+ words counts as activity.
Only one drabble of 500+ words counts as activity.
One-liners or minis not tagged #isola mini also do not count.
Please Note: If you are removed during two consecutive activity checks, you will not be allowed to re-apply as that character for two calendar months.
Additionally, anyone removed during the activity check will have a 12-hour window from the time of posting to re-claim their character. Any character not reclaimed during that period will be open to the community at large.
Please send in your reapplications from the account of the character that was removed.

Here are some interesting bits of trivia I found in the Shin Megami Tensei IV art book!
- CERO forced them to cut content from the Red Pill Factory to avoid an 18+ rating in Japan
- The terminal design is an homage to the Cerebro room from x-men
- The reason Charon let’s you return to life (for a price) is because he’s still busy judging souls who died during 1000 years earlier in the Great Cataclysm. Give the guy a break!
- The buildings seen in the River Styx were built by souls who have been waiting years and years to be judged
- Jonathons hair was modeled after that of Brian May from Queen
- Walter’s design was inspired by Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious from the Sex Pistols
- Hope’s face was designed after that of actor Eiji Okuda
- K was modeled after Kurt Russel in Escape From New York
- Tayama went through the most design changes
- Fujiwara was modeled after musician Makoto Ayukawa from the band Sheena and the Rokkets
