Landslide again blocks Kinnaur highway in Badhal in Shimla district | Shimla News - Net4News
SHIMLA: Landslide has once again blocked national highway-5 (Shimla-Kinnaur highway) at Badhal in Shimla district. Within a week, this is the second major landslide along this strategically important national highway that connects the Kinnaur district and Spiti valley located close to China border. Earlier, a major landslide along this highway was reported at Jeori in Shimla district on September 6 while before that landslide at Nigulsari in Kinnaur district on August 11 had killed 28 people. According to the officials, the landslide at Badhal near Jeori was reported on Sunday and no loss of human life has been reported. Officials said that Shimla district administration has deployed the earth removing machines for the restoration of road connectivity. Sources said that frequent closure of Shimla-Kinnaur national highway is causing great inconvenience not only to daily commuters but also the apple growers of Shimla and Kinnaur districts who are finding it difficult to transport their apple crop to the market in time to fetch good prices. Most of the Himachal Pradesh is incessant receiving monsoon rains due to which state is facing increased threat of landslides. The isolated places of lower and middle hills of the state are going to have more rainfall till September 18. According to officials of Shimla Meteorological Centre, rainfall occurred at most places over the state during last 24 hours as monsoon was active over the state during this period. In the state, maximum temperatures has decreased by 3-4 degrees Celsius in last 24 hours while there is no appreciable change in minimum temperatures. Minimum temperatures were normal while maximum temperatures were 5-6 degrees Celsius below normal. On Sunday, the lowest temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius was recorded at Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti district while highest maximum temperature of 30.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Una on Saturday. Himachal flash flood: One killed, 9 missing | Shimla News - Net4News
One person was killed and nine feared washed away in a flash flood in Himachal Pradesh's remote Lahaul-Spiti district early Wednesday. The disaster occurred in Udaipur, located on the Manali-Leh highway, and a crucial bridge on the Tozing rivulet was damaged. Reports say several vehicles, including tourists, have been stuck on the highway. According to state disaster management authority one of the injured was referred to a government hospital in Kullu. Rescue teams have reached the spot, some 60 km from district headquarters Keylong.
The government has already issued an advisory for tourists and locals to refrain from high mountains, wandering near rivers and other places vulnerable to landslides. Details awaited. Source link Read the full article

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh reported 3 Covid-19 deaths and 136 positive cases on Thursday. 174 positive patients have also recovered. Two deaths have been reported from Solan district while one death has been reported from Mandi district. The state has total 204098 confirmed positive cases of which 1,150 cases are active, 199444 patients have recovered while 3486 patients have died. So far total 2633662 persons have been tested for Covid-19 till date of which 2428930 persons have been tested negative. Since 7 pm on Wednesday, total 13444 samples were tested in the state and results of 634 samples were awaited. Positive cases reported include 6 from Bilaspur district, 34 from Chamba district, 10 from Hamirpur district, 17 from Kangra district, 2 from Kinnaur district, 6 from Kullu district, one from Lahaul-Spiti district, 31 from Mandi district, 19 from Shimla district, 3 from Solan district and 7 from Una district. SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh reported 3 Covid-19 deaths and 93 positive cases on Wednesday, 100 positive patients have also recovered. Two deaths have been reported from Kangra district while one death has been reported from Mandi district. The state has total 203962 confirmed positive cases of which 1191 cases are active, 199270 patients have recovered while 3483 patients have died. So far total 2620218 persons have been tested for Covid-19 till date of which 2415923 persons have been tested negative. Since 7 pm on Tuesday, total 14314 samples were tested in the state and results of 333 samples were awaited. Positive cases reported include 4 from Bilaspur district, 18 from Chamba district, 4 from Hamirpur district, 10 from Kangra district, 6 from Kullu district, 22 from Mandi district, 22 from Shimla district, 3 from Solan district and 4 from Una district. Himachal Pradesh: Six bodies recovered, over a dozen missing in Kangra flash floods | Shimla News - Net4News
SHIMLA: As many as six bodies have been recovered on Tuesday while over a dozen people are still missing following Monday's flash floods in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. To trace the missing persons, the district administration with the help of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has launched search and rescue operation. Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday conducted the aerial survey of the affected Boh area of Shahpur assembly constituency. The CM announced that Rs 4 lakh will be provided to each of the family of the deceased. He said and financial help would be given to whose houses had been damaged in the natural calamity. Official said five people were missing in Rulehad village of Boh valley, one person was missing from Brian near Samirpur while around five to seven people were missing from Lamdal near Kareri. Kangra deputy commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal said one body was recovered on Monday while four more were recovered on Tuesday from Rulehad village. He said that since Monday, five people who were stuck under the debris have been safely rescued while five others are still missing in the village He said that a 55-year-old shepherd is missing from Berian in Samirpur area while five to seven people are reportedly missing from Lamdal area near Kareri. During the aerial survey of flood-affected areas, CM Jai Ram Thakur took stock of the situation and also met the affected people. He directed the Kangra district administration to take up the relief and rehabilitation work on war-footings in the affected areas.
