Katana Maidens: Toji no Miko, primo teaser trailer per l’OVA

L’adattamento sarà composto da due episodi.

Pubblicati una prima immagine e un breve teaser dell’OVA basato sul videogioco “Toji no Miko: Kizamishi Issen no Tomoshibi”, che ora sappiamo essere diviso in due parti. L’adattamento è una co-produzione Crunchyroll e sarà trasmesso nel corso di quest’anno. 

Il progetto sta venendo realizzato presso lo studio Project No.9 (CHOYOYU!: High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World!, Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!) e vede al lavoro uno staff diverso da quello della serie televisiva del 2018. La regia è affidata a Tomohiro Kamitani, la sceneggiatura sta venendo curata da Aoi Akashiro (Katana Maidens: Mini Toji, Classroom of the Elite), mentre il character design è ad opera di Daisuke Niitsuma.

Il cast sarà composta da:

Anche se sono molte le Toji che si sono allenate e preparate per il torneo, c'è una ragazza che è più determinata delle altre a migliorare la sua abilità di scherma. Cosa si cela dietro la sua Okatana?

L’app è stata lanciata per dispositivi mobili nel marzo del 2018, preceduta a gennaio dello stesso anno dall’originale serie animata di 24 episodi intitolata “Katana Maidens ~ Toji No Miko”, diretta da Koudai Kakimoto (BanG Dream! 2nd Season) presso Studio Gokumi (Yuki Yuna is a Hero, Endro~!).

Lo scorso inverno è stata invece trasmessa la serie di corti “Katana Maidens ~ Mini Toji”, diretta da Yuu Nobuta (High School Fleet, Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai), presso lo studio project No.9 (Angel’s 3Piece, Ryuuou no Oshigoto!). Entrambe sono disponibili in streaming, sottotitolate in italiano, su Crunchyroll.

Six Sword Girls Gather in Katana Maidens - Tomoshibi OVA Key Visual

     The official website for the upcoming two-part OVA series based on Square Enix's smartphone game app Toji no Miko: Kizamishi Issen no Tomoshibi / Katana Maidens - Tomoshibi is updated with a key visual featuring its six main sword girls: Mihono Asakura (CV: Himika Akaneya), Chie Setouchi (Kaori Ishihara), Kofuki Shichinosato (Hiromi Igarashi), Kiyoka Musumi (Akane Fujita), Miruya Kitora (Manami Numakura), and Yui Yamashiro (Sumire Uesaka). 

     The game inspired by Studio Gokumi's battle action TV anime Katana Maidens ~ Toji No Miko started its service for iOS and Android in March 2018. From the point of view of the game's original character Mihono Asakura, it tells various battles by another group of sword-wielding shrine maidens, which simultaneously happened behind the TV anime story. 

  Tomohiro Kamitani, who served as the action animation director for the Katana Maidens TV anime, makes his directorial debut. project No.9 again works on anime production following the TV series. The Crunchyroll co-production  two episodes are scheduled to be aired and streamed before the end of this year.

Sword Girls Are Back in the New Katana Maidens – Tomoshibi Anime

Based on the Square Enix smartphone game of the same name, Katana Maidens – Tomoshibi, will be getting an anime production, which is being co-produced by Crunchyroll. With the announcement, a teaser visual has been released alongside the key staff and cast for the adaptation.

    The first TV anime series for Katana Maidens, Katana Maidens ~ Toji No Miko, was broadcast from January to June 2018, which spawned a smartphone game, of which the Katana Maidens – Tomoshibi anime will be based on. While there is mostly new staff and cast for the anime, which will be animated at project No. 9, Aoi Akashiro returns as the series composer from the first TV anime.

  It was previously announced in December 2019 that the smartphone game would be getting an OVA adaptation.

    The original Katana Maidens ~ Toji No Miko TV anime was streamed on Crunchyroll as it aired, which describes the story as such:

  Since the ancient times, the Kannagi priestesses have used their swords, or Okatana, to exorcise the creatures known as Aratama that brought chaos upon the world of man. These maidens were known as Tojis, a special task force within the police allowed to have their Okatana on their person because they are government officials, but they mostly consist of school girls who go to one of five training schools. This spring, the top Tojis from five schools across the country have been gathered for a customary tournament where they will use their abilities and fight for the top position.

  No date for the Crunchyroll co-production, Katana Maidens – Tomoshibi, has been announced as of yet. Be sure to keep checking back to Crunchyroll News for when the date!
