Ex-Celtic star CLEARED of sexually assaulting woman

Simon Lynch, 41, was alleged to have groped her at a flat in Glasgow’s Tollcross on February 6, 2020.

Court papers stated Lynch – who played five times for the Hoops – repeatedly entered her bedroom uninvited.

It was claimed he repeatedly asked her to kiss him and touched her on the body.

Lynch, who played for Preston, Dundee and Airdrie, is said to have seized her by the wrists.

The charge says he sat astride her, placed her wrists above her head and pinned her to a bed.

The former striker, of the city’s Mount Vernon, was then claimed to have seized and slapped her on the bottom.

Lynch - who had been due to face a summary trial - without a jury - denied the single charge at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The trial was initially adjourned in November due to the non-attendance at court of the alleged victim.

The new trial date today was told that the woman had not been cited to come to court by the Crown.

Prosecutor Leo McGinn said: "There were two requests made by my office to the police to personally cite her following the last occasion.

"I appreciate this is an unsatisfactory position as the case was adjourned due to her non attendance on the last occasion."

Paul McCormick, defending, opposed the Crown motion to adjourn the trial.

The lawyer told the court that his client has since lost his job at a charity since the last calling of the case.

He said: "The entire process has been hanging over my client's head for 27 months.

"There have been obvious consequences with the loss of his employment.

"He understands the firm stance due to the publicity that reached the press.

"The Crown really ought to have done more to have the witness cited for today."

Sheriff Jonathan Guy refused the motion to adjourn the trial to another date.

He said: "It has been more than two years and the Crown are not in a position to proceed as it failed to take the necessary step to cite the witness for this case.

"Given the impact of these proceedings and the Crown's repeated failings, I have decided the interests of justice don't support the Crown.

"It is not in the interest of justice for the Crown to be given a third opportunity to do that."

The case was then deserted simpliciter by the Sheriff.

Lynch followed in the footsteps of father Andy, who captained Celtic, by playing at Parkhead between 1999 and 2001.

so today my guest lecturer for one of my classes is “Professor Moomaw”

I already know he’s a dude but I’m still 100% expecting some sweet southern old lady to come tottering through the door and talk to us about veterinary medicine but also go on tangents about jam, and how good of a baker her grandson is, and that she just met his boyfriend who’s such a nice young man and perfect for her grandson, etc etc

Hi no this message is wrong and very guilt trip-y and toxic (no offense to the op or other people who reblogged this, it’s a very easy message to understand and believe and pass on, but it’s just pretty much not true.)

Not to start drama but as a vet student who has worked in MANY different clinical settings, I can tell you that this is nearly 100% inaccurate - pets who don’t have their owners with them when they are put down pretty much don’t ever act like this - and in the instance where an animal suffers from separation anxiety, vet professionals know how to handle these animals and comfort them so they are not in serious distress.

Vet professionals have been seeing this sort of messaging go around for a while now, and we’ve been constantly trying to tell people that it’s not true, but for some reason it still gets told. IMO this whole “my friend of a friend who’s a vet tech said this” was either never actually a vet tech and is lying, is trying to spread shit for the drama/clout/trying to force people to conform to their moral beliefs, or didn’t work in vet med long before they quit and have inaccurate/inappropriate understandings about a lot of vet med (this is very commonly true - people enter into vet med thinking it’s for them, they find out it’s really not for them, but they then leave with a very biased understanding of what vet med is).

DO NOT force yourself to be in the room with your animal is put down unless you genuinely believe you can handle it and it’s what you want to do. Watching that can be very mentally and emotionally traumatic for people; veterinarians are capable of handling it because we’ve been *trained* to handle it, but that doesnt mean that the general public can handle it, and there are also lot of vets who realize they can’t handle doing euthanasia’s and leave practice to work in another field (I had a wonderful anatomy professor in undergrad who did this). Vets (or at least decent reputable vets) ABSOLUTELY want you to prioritize your well-being in this process - we work to serve our clients as well as their animals - and will not judge you for not being present for your animal’s passing.

Today, on 'Things That Ruined Me': My husband works with a man who used to be a vet tech, and he said that many people refuse to be with their pets when they're being put down because it's "too hard for them watch".

But whenever that happens, the pets are always desperately looking around the room for their people, right up until they close their eyes for the last time.

I hate the world.
