Police ID victim in fatal Adams County semi crash

Wausau Pilot & Review Police have identified the 50-year-old driver who died Friday in a two-vehicle crash as Shannon Deshannon, of Wisconsin Dells. The crash, between a pickup and a semi tractor trailer, was reported just before 11 a.m. Friday in the area of Hwy. 13 and Adams County Hwy. K in the town of Dell Prairie. Deputies and responders arriving at the scene had a difficult time accessing…

　 使うシチュエーションによっては ビミョーな意味合いを持つことばではありますが… 繕う、って 糸へんに善い、だから きっと基本的には よいことなのだろうと思うのです。 　 ちょっとばかりほつれたり、 ちいさな穴ができちゃった、というだけで お気に入りの服を手放すのは なかなか惜しいもの。 同じものがたくさんない、とか 思い出が詰まっている、となれば なおのことでしょう。 　 そんな際に 繕う方法を知っていれば、 好きな色合いや模様、デザインの服を 永くたのしむことができますよね。 　 あんまり永くお気に入りすぎて ある意味満身創痍なシャツや、 うっかり破いてしまった チュニックの裾に、 前ボタンのワンピースなどなど… 「やらかした」数だけ 繕うスキルも手に入れた、のかもしれません（苦笑。 　 お針がニガテだったわたしも、 こうして繕うことを知ってからは 苦手意識が少なくなりました。 お気に入りをまた着られるようになる、ということも もちろんそうですが、 ちょっとした達成感というか、 一着救助したぞ！というようなきもちにも。 　 友人たちの ショールやトップスの袖の レース編みを なんとか直せないだろうか、と言われて かぎ針を手にしたこともあります。 　 これも 対象への愛情の ひとつのカタチなのかもなぁ、と しみじみ思う、秋の入り口です。

ここしばらく 何気にパンづいているので パンの話題が続くかと思われます… 　 そもそも クロワッサンそのものが 大好きで、 それも本当は 甘くないクロワッサンがいいんですが、 なぜか世の中には 甘いクロワッサンの方が 多い印象があるのです。 ではその中では どれが一番好きなのか、というと このクロワッサン・オ・ザマンド。 　 クロワッサンが 甘いシロップをまとって、 さらに上にも中にも アーモンドのクリーム、 パウダーシュガーがたっぷりかかっているものもあって、 特別リッチなクロワッサン。 見かけるとつい買ってしまうのです。 　 シロップがしっかりしみこんだ しっとりしたタイプや クロワッサンのさくさく感を 残してあるタイプなど、 お店によってもいろいろなので 食べ比べてお気に入りを見つけるのも たのしい。 　 洋��子屋さんが週末限定で販売していたり、 専門店もあるそうで、 近くに出向いた際に たずねてみるのもよさそうです。 一方で 市販のクロワッサンを使って じぶんでつくるレシピが web上で公開されていたりも。 　 個人的な希望を言えば、 ちょっと小ぶりなのが いいなぁ…と思っているのですが… 理想的なものには まだ出会えていなくて、 当面は クロワッサン・オ・ザマンドジプシーが 続きそうなわたしです…！

Female Songwriters Associated with the Byrds:

Jackie DeShannon— Before achieving her own success as a music artist, Jackie was a studio songwriter near the beginning of her career. This included contributing the song ‘Don’t Doubt Yourself, Babe’ for the Byrds’ 1965 debut album ‘Mr. Tambourine Man.’ To return the favor, the band later played and sang back-up on Jackie’s 1966 B-side ‘Splendor in the Grass.’

Carole King— Though not a direct collaboration, Carole co-wrote fan favorites ‘Goin’ Back’ and ‘I Wasn’t Born to Follow’ featured on the Byrds’ 1968 LP ‘The Notorious Byrd Brothers.’

Emmylou Harris— While struggling to get her music career going, Emmylou was discovered by Byrds founding member Chris Hillman in 1971, who then introduced her to one-time Byrd bandmate Gram Parsons. Emmy and Gram went on to work together on Gram’s two solo albums ‘GP’ (1973) and ‘Grievous Angel’ (1974). Chris and Emmylou have also made guest appearances on each other’s records and performances over the years; including the song ‘Price I Pay’ on Emmy’s 1990 LP ‘Duets’ and the 1999 Gram tribute album+concert ‘Return of the Grievous Angel.’
