what are everyone’s thoughts on the allura ships

Could you explain your position on Shallura? Since Allura was established as a teenager when she started dating Lance and Shiro was very clearly an adult. I can understand the bi shiro headcannon but the shallura thing worries me

i am going to remind yall that i have been in this fandom since 2016. and in the early seasons, allura was not established as a teenager. in fact she was coded as older, as closer to shiro's age -- there was a specific divide between her and the younger paladins that she did not have with shiro. they made her younger (both explicitly and in mannerisms) as the show went on. and i do not give a fuck about voltron like...post s4 and i didn't even watch s7-8. so like. especially with older fics, im going to enjoy shallura.

also recently my interest in shipping has shifted from romance and more to "I want to study you" so it's changed my perspective quite a bit but also put me in a weird position bc I know shipping can mean very different things to different people.

my priority is typically a means of character exploration and storytelling, which is why I could be considered a "Junko/Komaeda shipper" as an example, when I don't actually want them to be in a relationship really? I headcanon Komaeda as gay actually, it's more like I want to watch two cars drive at each other at full speed and then take very detailed notes.

I won't really refer to myself as a "shipper" of them though because it tends to imply interest of their relationship as romantic or sexual rather than destructive. I'm interested in the destruction and what it has to say about them and that goes for quite a lot of my "ships" because I am a big fan of mutual murder attempts and human disasters.

I think I got off topic, the part that relates to the shallura thing is that shipping can be more about character exploration than thinking characters would make a good couple and that is likely part of the reason why people will choose to disregard aspects of canon that would get in the way of that.

Found a little Shallura drawing from earlier this year. I miss them.

ALRIGHT ITS BELOW THE CUT (this may be a silly mess but bear w/ me)

So Lance is on varsity for his high school's air riflery team, alongside Hunk. They have practices in the gym at mostly the same time and days as the girls' volleyball team (shoutout to my homie Pidge all the homies love Pidge); the gym is split in half by a bunch of bleachers that they pulled over to the middle so the two sports teams don't mess up each other's practices.

Occasionally, volleyballs will go over or past the bleachers, which are usually thrown back to volleyball's side once our shooters are done shooting the current position. Sometimes the balls go past the firing line, but they usually don't or disturb the air riflery team.

The keyword is 'usually.'

They were just getting ready to shoot their sight-in (starting) shots for prone (lying down) position. And then out of nowhere, Lance feels something whack his ass.

He turns his head, ready to see who in the world just violated his beautiful butt with apparently a freaking volleyball (okay yeah, it was an accident BUT IT STILL HURT A LITTLE), when he sees this really pretty guy?? Who in the world is he (it's Keith wow really? I didn't know)??

That is literally all I have down for this AU rn BUT I will probably come up w/ more. 😁👍

Other stuff I didn't mention:

Keith actually does baseball but he's helping out w/ vb practices (like a manager basically) because Shiro said it would be "good for him" since he's off season.

Shiro is not-so-subtly trying to get Keith to make some friends. This boy is so asocial (Shiro is shaking his head).

Allura is the vb team coach; Shiro is assistant coach (?)

There's Klance (obviously)
