Mind Burn

After the events of the deep ocean dive to visit Poseidon, lord of the sea, master of the watery domain, and yada yada you get it, Piero and Hanabi were spending some time on the beach together, Piero having to explain multiple times that the madness he experienced was simply a part of the previous job he had had with Poseidon. It was complicated honestly and not worth getting into because Piero had moved on from that job a long time ago but there was something to be said about the way that old job habits stayed with you after you left.

This was simply one of those times, but it was not the premiere reason the two of them were lounging on the beach together. No, this was about looking for treasure, or so the event was supposed to go. Piero had found this section of beach to dig in but first he was going to tend to Hanabi, who wasn’t a fan of sand, as it was course and rough and irritating. And it got everywhere.

She was also fairly susceptible to heat so Piero was setting up the umbrella and riving it as deep into the sand as it would go, shooing more and more Crabbots away. He would get to them later he promised. And this seemed to satisfy them for the time being which was probably for the best because if they were displeased, all sorts of onsense would happen and Piero was not like the younger and more aggressive foxes of today.

No, he was old and greying and just wanted to spend his time in relative peace and harmony despite the threads of reality being a bit unstable. It was what it was as the saying goes.

“I am glad you seem to be enjoying yourself,” Piero said once the umbrella was up and the owls laid out and the cooler made easily accessible. “It is supposed to be a vacation after all and it would be a shame if you were not at least having a little bit of fun.”

Hanabi shrugged. “I suppose I have a soft spot for this funny little fellow. Looks a little bit like a clown. Very goofy and probably famous in this part of the world. Maybe you have heard of him.”

Piero gasped and stood, clapping his hands and taking a deep bow. “Why, I have known exactly who you sepak of for as long as I can remember. Has a bit of a funny laugh, no? Nyehehe.”

Hanabi giggled as well. “Yes, but I think it is very cute and charming and it fits him.”

“Well, what a lucky guy, I say.” Piero gave another bow and pretended to pull a shovel out of his ear, though a shovel did appear and he twirled it expertly before driving that into the sand as well. “I will let you in a little secret, just for the special ones out there. I have a secret treasure map that covers all of the Hidden Gardn and the coats if you can believe it.”

“Oh, do tell,” Hanabi replied. “I do like to see treasure. It is supposed to be one of the most exciting discoveries a fox could make in their life time.”

“Oh yes, certainly, nyehehe.” Piero pulled out a piece of paper. It was entirely blank save fo a few smudging finger prints and pieces of lint. “And I will personally guide you to the location of said treasure if you are willing to work out a bit of a deal with a little ol fox like myself. You seem to be smart. The smarter of the two if you ask me.”

“Well, I have a great partner as it turns out,” Hanabi said, leaning into her role as the charismatic expert. “What sort of deal were you thinking? You know, such a fine gentleman island all. Handsome too.”

“Aw shucks,” Piero said, pressing his hands together in the shape of a heart. “Since you seem so nice, I will let you know if you can solve my riddles three.”

“Three?”

“Three.”

Hanabi shrugged again. “I accept your challenge. I will have you know I was the leader of a debate team back in high school. That has nothing to do with this, but I figured that I should mention it anyway. You know, just in case it psyches you out.”

Piero was shainking. “Oh, the debate team! Sounds like a serious position. Going to have to keep me on my toes it looks like. Truly the most intelligent.”

Hanabi laughed and Piero furrowed his brow nice and deep. “Okay, here is your riddle, nyehehe. What is as sweet as sugar but used like pepper? You will never figure this one out. The treasure will be mine and mine alone!”

Piero started to laugh, so much so that he dropped to the ground to roll on his sides. Hanabi was not entertained, but she did stop him by flopping on top of him. As they were face to face, she scrunched her face up in concentration. Something as sweet as sugar. Used like pepper. She had no idea but then she did. She gave Piero a bunch of kisses all over his face as he laughed and twitched.

“That is correct! Wow you are good.” Piero sat up and gave Hanabi some kisses back and shoved the paper in her hands. “I am going to dig us up something magnificent! It will be so beautiful and amazing and it will blow your socks off! Well maybe not your socks. But it will be good.”

He got to digging and was especially careful to not fling sand in Hanabi’s lest she get it in her hair and in her life forever. And once he had found the treasure, he hoisted it out of the sand and held it out to her. It was a big sparkling shell. Hanabi took it carefully and inspected it.

Easily the most beautiful treasure for the most beautiful woman.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP)- It sent shock-waves across the country, and around the world.

President Donald Trump announced Thursday, he would withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate Accord. 196 countries signed the agreement in 2015, promising to reduce carbon emissions and help limit the rise of global temperatures.

“There’s a lot of science and research that is going into climate change and I think that investing in that will create more jobs in the long run and help preserve the planet that we live in,” said Chris Woods of Holyoke.

The United States would join Syria and Nicaragua as the only countries in the world not part of the Paris Climate Accord. President Trump said the agreement weakens the U.S. economy limiting the number of jobs.

“It takes a little while to bring back the country to where we used to be there used to be lots of work here,” said Roger Shaink of Indian Orchard. “It’s a tough time right now.”

President Trump said the Paris Climate Accord gave a bettter deal to India and China, both who are increasing their coal production.

“It would cripple some of our industries that would manufacture products and put more and more limits on them,” said Mark Teed, Senior Vice President of Investments at Raymond James & Associates.  “I know a lot of companies supported this agreement, but in the end I think it would have hurt our industries.”

Mark Teed told 22News the U.S. would have lost more than 6 million jobs over the next 10 to 20 years under this agreement. .
