if Eclipse shows up in the games, I want him to have a redemption arc but I don’t want it to be kicked off by Shadow reaching out to him

I want Abe to be the one to reach out

why?

he was wrong about Shadow, so maybe they’re all wrong about Eclipse

he regrets his treatment of Shadow aboard the Ark and doesn’t want to make the same mistake with what he sees as a scared child who is doing his best to take care of smaller children

also, he’s getting soft in his old age

I redesigned the Dark Arms as baby Darklings… for science. Basically, the Darklings are new breed of Black Arms to counter Shadow. They were supposed to be the same size/maturity as Eclipse (the first) but the location they were being grown got raided (by G.U.N. if they reformed after Forces, likely also Team Dark) so they got ejected out of their pods early and are (mostly) harmless babies.

May play around with the designs/concepts more later idk.

( Eclipse would have Doom powers instead )

May as well share what I've thought up.

No branching pathways this time, just Hero and Dark like SA2. Hero being Shadow and Dark being Eclipse (Abraham Tower's name comes from Archie so there's a non-zero chance ok?).

Shadow has his usual abilities, just stronger now, and can still use weapons and random objects he finds. Vehicles as well. These are totally optional, with the focus on Shadow's natural abilities.

Eclipse has the Doom powers that Shadow no longer has as they're too cool to leave in just one game to never be seen again but I don't see Shadow wanting them. This would negate the need for the Dark Arms, which aren't my favorite concept anyway. Tho Eclipse's disdain for non-Black Arms vs his over-protectiveness of the Dark Arms is a key part of his character so they should have a replacement; babies of a new breed of Black Arms would do fine. Maybe they're more like him and he's just the first of this new kind. They would look more like humanoid/"Mobian" babies instead of the leeches, otherwise the audience wouldn't be able to connect with them.

(We really need a replacement for the term Mobian; idk what to call them.)

Basically, Doom is back one more time but to make it interesting, he's finally given up on turning Shadow. He made a replacement in Eclipse and gave him the Doom powers, which Eclipse would gain thru the course of the game after completing missions to "prove" himself.

Shadow and Eclipse would fight several different times throughout the story. Shadow would also fight other powerful Black Arms. Eclipse would fight G.U.N. bosses and some of Shadow's allies like Rouge, Omega, Sonic, etc. Shadow and Eclipse would have a final showdown as the second-to-last boss. The final boss is Devil Doom, of course, but this time he takes the Doom powers back from Eclipse to use himself (since Eclipse failed to defeat Shadow).

Doom is, of course, defeated once again. This time for good (perhaps they somehow find a way to cut off his telepathy stuff so he can't beam his consciousness into another body).

Eclipse could either go on to become the next main Black Arms threat, vowing revenge on Shadow or become a more neutral party. Doom taking back his powers and effectively betraying and abandoning him could be enough to get Eclipse to at least question everything Black Doom told him about their mission (Doom was trying to make himself out to be the good guy in his little speech in the final story of ShTH; very Thanos). So Eclipse could just cut his losses, grab the new baby Black Arms and take off, now simply focusing on keeping them safe. He could still come into conflict with Shadow or the other heroes whenever he perceives them as a threat, but could team up with them at other times if it furthers his goal, which would basically be to establish a colony of Black Arms on Earth. Something of a wildcard character that could be used to explore the Black Arms further (culture, origins, etc.)

So that's my wild idea that will probably never happen (hire me, Sega).

Yes, feel free to create anything based on this concept.

OK I dreamed up a scenario that may make some of you cry:

Eclipse demands to know what made Shadow care so much about this planet

Shadow, realizing just telling him isn’t good enough, actually uses the hivemind link to share memories of Maria

but the hivemind doesn’t just allow Eclipse to see and hear shared memories but feel them too, so he also experiences Maria’s hugs

with Maria’s words (from Dark Beginnings) and hugs, Eclipse understands now and just sits there, not caring to continue fighting (for the moment at least)

BONUS

one of the memories shared was the one with Abe so Eclipse hears Shadow call the Black Arms larva a disgusting heartless creature and is now VERY UPSET because he assumes that applies to him
