Tori Girl!
Tumblr media
Tori Girl!    [trailer]
The movie follows the basic story line of a sports movie. In this case it's about a competition involving human-powered flight vehicles. Which in itself is already very original. And the story is told in a very funny, over-the-top way, romantic subplots included.
I probably don't even get many of the reference but this is still an absolute blast. I don't think I have ever so much enjoyed seeing people shout at each other. A totally unexpected gem.
Tao Tsuchiya's facial expressions are priceless. She's just too cute with her infectious energy.

The main staff for the series has been revealed, including:
Original work: Boku wa Doko Kara by Masa Ichikawa (published by Kodansha under their Young Magazine KC imprint)
Director: Yusuke Taki, Izuru Kumasaka, Takahiro Oouchi
Screenplay: Izumi Takahashi
Production: TV Tokyo, J Storm

Kaoru possesses a special power: by transcribing the sentences that other people say, he is capable of also copying down their inner thoughts. After Kaoru's mother gets in an accident and the medical bills threaten to crush him completely, Kaoru is confronted by Tomomi Fujiwara, a former classmate turned Yakuza lieutenant, who has a plan to turn Kaoru's bad luck around...
Boku wa Doko Kara will broadcast on Wednesdays from 24:12 - 24:52 (actually from 12:12 - 12:52am JST on Thursday morning) on TV Tokyo and other stations beginning in January of 2020.
