President Ramkalawan Elevates Seychelles Defence Officers

Presidential Honors for Defence Officers

From the heart of Victoria, Seychelles, a significant event unfolded as President Wavel Ramkalawan, also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, presided over a prestigious ceremony. Here, he honored Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) officers with promotions and commissions, acknowledging their merit, expertise, and exceptional leadership. The ceremony, imbued with tradition and respect, began with a blessing from Chaplain Lieutenant Colonel Louis Agathine.  

President's Commendation and Call for Excellence

Recognizing Officer Achievements In his address, President Ramkalawan extended heartfelt congratulations to the SDF officers. He recognized their capabilities, furthered by studies, qualifying them for their new ranks. He lauded these men and women in uniform for their continuous dedication to serving their country and its citizens. Additionally, he urged all officers to take their roles seriously, maintaining high standards of professionalism and leadership to uplift the force and Seychelles as a whole.   Acknowledging Collective Efforts The President seized this opportunity to express gratitude to all service men and women for their devotion and professionalism displayed throughout the year. Furthermore, he highlighted the fruitful collaboration between the SDF and the Seychelles Police, leading to successful operations and the maintenance of peace and security. Subsequently, he concluded by emphasizing the importance of teamwork and dedication to their mission.

Emphasizing Responsibilities with Promotion Brigadier Michael Rosette, Chief of Seychelles Defence Forces, stressed that these promotions and commissions signify not just personal achievements but also bring new responsibilities. He encouraged those not promoted to remain undeterred, urging them to be more determined, resilient, and perseverant.  

Celebrating the Promoted Officers

A List of Achievements The ceremony was marked by the promotion of 14 officers to various ranks, recognizing their service and dedication. These promotions included Lieutenant Colonel Rodney Zarine, Majors such as Dr. Dania Woodcock, and Captains including Mr. Daniel Magloire, Mr. Michel Payet, among others. The event also acknowledged the promotion of several Lieutenants, such as Mr. Gerry Boniface, Ms. Stephanie Anderson, and Mr. Christopher Hoareau.   Special Mention Ms. Melina Crispin received special recognition for her promotion to Lieutenant before her assignment to Manama, Bahrain, as the "Maritime Security Enhancement Training (MSET) Planner" at the CMF Headquarters.  

Commissioning of Devoted Personnel

Honoring Dedicated Service In addition to promotions, two devoted personnel were commissioned as officers in the SDF, acknowledging their years of dedicated service and expertise. These were Major Donn Du Perez and Lieutenant Sandy Ernesta, both specialists in their respective fields.  

A New Era for the SDF

President Ramkalawan's decision to promote and commission these officers marks a new era in the SDF, characterized by renewed leadership and expertise. The ceremony not only celebrated individual achievements but also reinforced the collective strength and commitment of the Seychelles Defence Forces.
