March 18, 2022 Soyuz MS-21 to the ISS The full Russian ISS Expedition 66 cosmonauts crew, commander Oleg Artemyev, flight engineers Denis Matveyev and Sergei Korsakov pose on the launchpad prior to their spaceflight mission which will further integrate the Russian Prichal module on the International Space Station. However this image reminds us of Soyuz MS-04 in April 2017, which was a Soyuz mission without any Omega wrist watches used... Note the large Goldish case white dial chronographs strapped over the left forearm of the Sokol KV02 space suit, as usually an Omega Speedmaster chronograph would be strapped in that place. Was Omega planning another reveal “Live” from Space as they did with the Omega X-33 Speedmaster announced as the “Mars watch” during a “Live” Press conference onboard the Russian Mir space station in March 1998? Or did the Russians finally turn to Russian-made chronographs as in September 2021 cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky wore a Konstantin Chaykin chronograph during two consecutive spacewalks !

Science record set on Space Station
ISS - International Space Station logo. 24 April 2017
The record-breaking Expedition 50 crew
If anything should break in space, let it be records. The astronauts of Expedition 50 have done just that by setting a new record for most time spent on scientific research on the International Space Station. ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet, NASA astronauts Shane Kimbrough and Peggy Whitson, and cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky, Andrei Borisenko and Sergei Ryzhikov clocked a combined 99 hours of science in the week of 6 March. To put this into perspective, astronauts average a 40 hour working week split between science experiments, Station maintenance and exercising for 2.5 hours a day. The record-breaking hours exclude these non-science tasks. Mission control tracks these statistics, as the number of hours devoted to science has fluctuated over the years on account of the Station’s construction. Built over the years in segments, astronauts needed to assemble and maintain the orbital complex while also running experiments.
In the name of science
This new record for science shows the crew is spending more time using the Station for its intended purpose as a weightless space laboratory. With more time for science comes our new ‘Space Lab’ article series that will highlight some of the European experiments performed on the Station. From human health to materials science, research in orbit is improving life on Earth while advancing space technology. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, that’s 99 hours well spent. Space station crew touches down: NASA astronaut and Russian cosmonauts return to Earth
Three astronauts from the International Space Station have successfully landed in the steppes of Kazakhstan — two from Russia and one from the United States.
NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough and Russia’s Sergei Ryzhikov and Andrei Borisenko touched down at 5:20 p.m. local time Monday after spending 173 days in space.
NASA’s Peggy Whitson, Russia’s Oleg Novitsky and the European Space Agency’s Thomas Pesquet will operate the orbiting space lab until another crew arrives this weekend.
The 57-year old Whitson was supposed to return to Earth in June but NASA announced last week that she would stay on the space station until September. Whitson has already spent more time in space than any other woman and just last week set a record for the most spacewalks by a woman, with eight. (AP)

New Post has been published on https://notaspampeanas.com/la-expedicion-50-regresa-la-superficie-terrestre/
