The Mermaid Princess (CC List)

I was super excited for the new live action 'The Little Mermaid', and I decided to make some cc inspired by it when I couldn't find much out there (especially for base game - the mermaid outfit is a dress, no Island Living needed). I started on most of these before seeing the film, but I tried to make adjustments after watching it.

This is the first time that I've made cc for The Sims 4, so I did the best I could with recoloring existing meshes (a HUGE thanks to those creators!). I made a few cc items way back when for The Sims 2 or 3, but it's been a while. I really enjoyed the process, so hopefully you'll see more creations from me in the future!

I'm probably going to lose a lot of friends for saying this, but...

I never, ever got the hate for Serena.

Okay, first thing you need to know is, this is coming from a multishipper (someone who ships multiple pairings with the same person). I like Pokeshipping, Negaishipping, Amourshipping, and Journeyshipping.

Second thing you need to know is, I have one big theory about Serena.

Serena is intended as a self-insert for female viewers.

Her relationship with Ash is hyped up more than Misty's, her goal (I do legitimately believe Showcases are her main goal, and that it wasn't just to get Ash's attention) is extremely hyperfeminine, she has almost no discernible personality whatsoever, and she has tons of alternate outfits.

Okay, so these may be stereotypical, but, as someone who was once a little girl, romance and fashion are often interests of little girls, and they were definitely interesfs of mine. Just look at the girlsgogames catalog and all their dress up and dating games!

When I was little (6-12) I watched every Pokemon season, but BW was my first and XY was my fave. I wanted more than anything to be Serena. I drew her in my sketchbooks, when I first got my hair cut I asked my friends if I looked like her (i did not), and I was a diehard Amourshipper (I also loved Misty and Iris and their respective pairings, but Serena was my favorite).

I thought Pokemon Showcases were the coolest, most adorable things ever.

Okay, this isn't just me defending Serena solely because I like her, so, i'll give you a lot of reasons why I don't understand why she's hated.

For starters, a lot of her worse actions and qualities (her throwing a tantrum over losing a showcase, the snowball thing, ash being her goal) have no excuses, but there are two interconnected explanations for them.

Serena is extremely insecure.

Serena is a child.

Serena is an insecure child who has no idea what a relationship is supposed to look like.

Also, several complaints bashers have about her are either completely unwarranted or, honestly huge stretches.

Complaint A:

Serena is a stalker.

Serena is not a stalker in my opinion, Wanting to meet your old friend again now that he's close to you...doesn't make you a stalker. Keeping something that reminds you of them doesn't make you a stalker. And accepting that old friend's invitation to travel with them definitely doesn't make you a stalker.

Complaint B:

Serena only exists for fanservice/to be sexualized.

What...uh...the fuck? If your first thought when seeing a child character dressed in perfectly normal clothes who just happens to have many alternate outfits (which are also very normal, aside from when they're literal stage outfits) is "This character is intended as a sex object"

I'm not going to throw around horrible accusations, but...I do think that's creepy.

Complaint C:

Her dream being Showcases is problematic.

Showcases are based on the Japanese music industry, which, while that industry and culture is extremely messed up and dehumanizing, being an idol is also a common dream for young Japanese girls, which goes with my theory of Serena being intended as a self insert for female viewers. I personally don't think this indicates the writer's view of women, as the other pokegirls had far more acceptable goals.

Complaint D:

Showcases were never even her goal, it was solely to get Ash's attention. I'm just gonna say it here...I don't believe that one bit. See how crushed she was on her first loss? She wouldn't react like that if it wasn't a genuine dream for her. Her theme, Doridori, doesn't reference being in love at all, it references wanting to find her own purpose in life. And that thing she said to Ash after kissing him, about being beautiful and being with him being her goal...once again...she's a kid. She has no idea how relationships work. She thought that was what he wanted to hear. And when she returns in Journeys, she's a Coordinator. She's been pursuing her goal without him.

Complaint E:

She's immature and a crybaby.

I feel like a lot of people forget that the Pokemon protagonists are all like, 10. They act, and often look, older. Ash is the only one who actually acts his age, and even then, he acts way older in gens 4 and 6. Serena strikes me as acting like an actual child, trying and failing to be mature and serious. She's very irrational and doesn't take failure well. She reacts to things with what she thinks will work, not what will actually work, and it builds up a sense of dramatic irony when people realize that no, it won't work. Of course she's immature, she's literally 10.

So, anyway...this was me trying (and probably failing) to defend Serena.

Klance. (Keith and Lance)

Genuinely DESPISE this pairing. I never saw Lance as BI or Gay etc. Man LOVed woman, he LOVED Allura. I never saw any chemistry between him and Keith. (OH but you drew fanart of them!!) YEAH. I did. And I reGRET it. I just wanted to be noticed in the Voltron fandom ngl lrhgkjrehgkrhge. Plance (Pidge and Lance) Were my all-time favourite pairing on this show. They had a lot more chemistry than Klance did imo.

Adrienette. (Adrien and Marionette)

Look I know it's basically the, canon ship for Ladybuy but MAN if I really don't like it. It just feels so icky to me. To start, Mari is a stalker. I don't care WHAT anyone says she's LITERALLY a stalker. She stalked Adrien. She knows his every MOVE. It's WEIRD. And CREEPY. I mean if the genders were reversed NO-ONE would be shipping them because again. It's CREEPY!

Armourshipping (Ash and Serena)

Most of the PKMN fandom shipped Ash and Serena during the XY series. But I legit couldn't STAND Serena. Like I really really hated her character. So the ship just didn't sit right with me because of that. Her obsession with Ash was a little weird considering they were literally ten, but hey.

WolfWren (Shin and Sabine)

Do I NEED to explain this? SHIN is literally EXTREMELY toxic. Girl had DEATH on her mind. She wants to KILL Sabine. And will probably kill anyone that gets in her way. Girl's Toxic. And Bean can do SOOO much better.

Thoschei (The Doctor and the Master)

Another extremely Toxic relationship that's shipped widely for some reason??? The Master is a literal murderer, a terrible person. Would kill the Doctor if he could, but for some reason, so many people ship them with the Doctor? I just don't get it. They were childhood friends sure okay, but that doesn't automatically mean they're made for each other???? They're a psychopath and the Doctor's a saviour. Idk this ship is just one of them ships that make me uncomfortable in a way.

So these are the ones I can think of right now. Tried to give a little muddled explanation as to why I dislike the ship.

One of the reasons i believe TV shows being released today is not working as good as it did in the 2000's, especially when we're talking about remakes/spin-off's/ sequels, is that we are not allowed to have horrible people an part of the main characters group anymore.

Think about the big hits of the 200's-2010's tv show. Gossip Girl: Blair had beef with a 13 years old, cheated on Nate with Chuck, Serena slept with her best friends boyfriend, was part of the reason a teenager die, Dan was Literally a stalker, Chuck ... is Chuck Bass.

The New version kinda of had a shot with season 1, especially with Max, he was involved in 2 cheatings, was sleeping with his tracher and only tried to expose him after he felt personally wronged ( and even than he went to Gossip Girl instead of the cops). Max was the type of messy that tv Shows need.

Pretty Little Liars: The whole show is about the girls being blackmailed by A because of the things they did with Alison.

The O.C: The main character starts the show being arrested.

One Tree Hill: How many cheating storylines can you give your protagonist before people start liking his brother more?

The Vampires diaries: Damon raped Caroline. And pretty much all the main characters kill at least 2 people.

Shows being made in the last couple of years don't allow their main character or their friends to be imperfect people wich makes the series boring. Nathan Scott is one of the most loved character in one tree hill and he starts as a complet jerk.

Part of watching this shows is about seeing the characters become better, but this doesn’t happen if they start perfect.

Just like when people complain that disney doesn’t make villains anymore, how every "villain" ends being some misunderstood person. Every once in a while could make a good story but not movie for the last 4-5 years.

Sotrie need villains, a person for you to hate, for you to love to hate or hate to love.

Prequel!Noblehart

Shad using her stashes in the city for all kinds of stuff and then finding Serena's gifts in them. Getting worried she's been compromised and someone else went and got her stuff and leaving gifts for her. Nocturne telling her she hid them there and that she just can't remember why and told Nocturne to not tell her.

DJ!Shad Redemption

A disillusioned older MS!Shad sitting in her cloister and writing letters to Serena (I feel.like it's something a romanced Shad would do, even if they broke.up after killing the Nightsong. Her life as MS sounds really lonely). She does not know why or if it's a good idea or if she even reads them but sends them out. Telling her about her daily life. And inviting her over and over again. She never gets an answer but they also never come back so someone must be reading them. Serena reading and keeping every single letter. Just not sure yet of Shad really is at a turning point to redeem herself.

I never considered that she might remember the stash location but not Serena or the gifts 🫠 Shadowheart confessing her fears of a potential stalker or rival in the cloister and Nocturne assures her they’re just gifts. Shadowheart might wonder who knew her so well, so intimately 🙃 she trusts what Nocturne says but it would kill her to wonder who she might have shared that intimacy with. Ouch, well done.

2. Aww, my heart. I think Serena would reply in some context. Maybe under a different name, to protect her mother if she’s moved back to Baldur’s Gate and within reach of the cloister. But I can’t see her leaving Shadowheart without a response, she’s too soft. Even if it’s MS Shadowheart. While I don’t think Serena would entertain a romance with MS Shads, I do think she’s still very much in love with her and I don’t think she has the strength to write her off completely! 🥺 always declining her invitations but I think she might even meet with Shadowheart outside of the cloister in secret, just to check on her. Serena is lovesick about that girl.

They'd rightfully be upset about it since it was obviously reciprocated enough that they accepted, but at the same time...they knew this was bound to happen because of their obsessive giant stalkers, they even warned the farmer not to get to close to them because "bad things happen". It hurts but it's not surprising, and they'll learn to deal with yet another loss

Wie süß ist die Pippi/Hubertus Lovestory bitte? Schade, dass Hubertus alles verkackt hat.

Die Strobo-Effekte auf der Party in Folge 773 sind ja noch schlimmer als die in der Pokémon-Folge, die nie wieder ausgestrahlt werden darf, weil zigtausend Kinder ins Krankenhaus mussten.

Eigentlich wollte ich Staffel 17 direkt danach gucken aber jetzt schieb ich noch kurz Heartstopper dazwischen solange noch alle darüber reden. Ich werde berichten.

Gossip girl ahaha for the fandom question!

I was waiting for somebody to ask me this, thank you so much! :)

my favorite female character - Blair and Serena tied. I can't choose between them because I love them both but for different reasons. Blair - for her loyalty to people she loves, her active, resourceful mind, tenacity; Serena - for her genuine sweetness and kind heart. I think they complement and balance each other nicely.

my favorite male character - Chuck. I think he had the most complete and compelling character journey and the biggest character development of all characters on the show. I love his capacity to love deeply, how devoted he was to people he loved, how he always was ready to help his friends without expecting anything in return. I love how selfless he could be and how perceptive he was. I love his sharp mind, wit, intelligence and self-awareness. I love how messed up he was yet was able to deal with his emotional issues, overcome his demons and become the best version of himself. I love that he didn’t judge, he was the least judgemental character on the show. And btw out of all the mains he was the only one who never cheated on his girlfriends.

my favorite book/season/etc - Season 2, but Season 1 follows very closely. These certainly are the best seasons.

my favorite episode (if its a tv show) - Season 2 Episode 13 "O Brother, Where Bart Thou?". Incredibly moving episode for me. It has everything: life and love vs death, funeral vs wedding, outstanding soundtrack "Signs" and "Slow Show".

my favorite cast member - I don't have any. I usually don't follow actors.

my favorite ship - Chuck/Blair, hands down.

a character I’d die defending - Chuck, lol. I really think he receives a lot of unfounded hatred.

a character I just can’t sympathize with - Dan. I was ok with him in Season 1 (that is, if we don't take into account that he was Gossip Girl) but as the story progressed it became more and more apparent that he was a judgmental, self-righteousness, pretentious hypocrite. By the end I absolutely loathed him. And the whole Gossip Girl business makes him a thousand times worse, a maniac stalker. If the writers had decided to make him Gossip Girl, he should have never ended up with Serena.

a character I grew to love - Georgina. In Season 1 she was pretty much a villain but over the seasons, particularly after the birth of her son her character became more layered. In Seasons 5 and 6 she often was a voice of truth, and I love that at the end she played something akin to a fairy godmother to Chuck and Blair.

my anti otp - Dan/Blair, the most contrived pairing on the show full of contrived pairings. Also, Serena/Gossip Girl for obvious reasons.
