It started as just a little thing.

An accidental tradition.

But as their family grew, so did their ability to give back to others. 

An initiative presented by the orphanage, a beach cleanup day every August. 

Money raised for the beach cleanup went towards ocean cleanup too, ensuring it was more than just their city that benefited from the Destan-Mixtio’s charity. 

Alee slumped into the sand, his hat doing little to keep him cool against the forty degree heat. He brought his water bottle to his lips, watching the children as they picked up garbage on the sand. It was way too hot and he was barely surviving with the sunscreen coating his delicate skin. His heavy long hair wasn’t helping him either.

He had to remind himself it was for a good cause as he watched Marilla and Araceli argue over whether a piece of plastic was clean enough to recycle or not. The two girls bickered between each other when the plastic container in Marilla’s hand was drenched in water.

Serafim simply went on his way, heading off to assist some of the younger orphans with their garbage bags. Marilla threw the plastic into one of the labeled recycling bins, beaming at her sister as if she’d somehow won something.

Alee blinked in surprise when a familiar head of orange hair hit his shoulder, also very warm. “Too hot?” The prophet inquired, looking down at his child slumped pathetically against him. River nodded pitifully, their pale skin already burned despite the sunscreen still casting a visible sheen on their skin.

He unscrewed his water bottle again, offering it to them. They were quick to take it, downing whatever water may have remained in the bottle much to Alee’s amusement. They handed the bottle back and he took it, setting it back down beside him now that it was empty.

Even their signing was sluggish as they lifted their hands.

“Too hot.”

Their hands dropped back down to their lap, huffing quietly. Like father, like child. Alee nodded. It was too hot.

“Come on you two!”

Vesper called from nearby, one of the orphanage girls on xyr shoulder limp and overheated, no doubt. Alee whined, falling backwards onto the sand, his hat covering his face. River huffed in annoyance at having their pillow so rudely removed from them.

Before either could react, water soaked the two of them, causing River to gasp and Alee to shriek in surprise. Vesper whistled innocently, turning and quickly taking off towards Mieran who was in charge of the organization aspect of it all.

Alee set up, wet hat falling to his lap, red eyes flashed in the sun as he looked for his spouse. And despite the relative lack of normal human beings, Vesper’s choice to run to Mieran meant he couldn’t just fireball xem. Mieran had all the paperwork.

“I’ll get you Mixtio!”

Cirino waved his hand lazily as he walked by, drying the two off with relative ease. River ran their fingers through their hair, trying to pat down the now frizzy orange strands sticking up into the air. Alee smiled apologetically at their child, nothing would save either of their hair at this point. An unfortunate truth.

At least Lumio was having fun.

Their inhuman form being climbed by various children to hang kelp and pop can plastics like decoration on their various branches. Their purrs sounded more like growls as Nerezza petted their head, clinging to them like a lifeline from her position somewhere between their neck and shoulders.

Before Alee could get up to continue helping however, Faer dove into his lap, the young boy clinging to him immediately.

Like father, like child and son.

River laid their head back down on Alee’s shoulder.

Does your oc have any secrets? Whats their biggest one?

Of course he has his secrets, I mean the guy is a psychic sorcerer... Even amongst sorcerers he often has to hide his ability to read thoughts, some people would find his abilities incredibly exploitable. Does your oc have any embarrassing memories?

Plenty, but swearing in Russian whilst forgetting two of his parents can speak Russian (and will scold him) ): Is there any weird habits your oc has?

Serafim will just zone out and STARE THROUGH people.. It's not necessarily a habit, but it is very weird and unnerving to witness at times. :eye: :eye: fr

Are there any secrets your oc has shared with other characters? If so, who, and what secrets?

Only a select few people outside of his immediate family know he's psychic. But in general, Alee knows the most of Serafim's secrets. How good is your oc at keeping secrets?

While Serafim doesn't lie, he's very good at dancing around the truth when need be. So he'll never tell another's secret if he can find a way around it(which he usually does, he's very smart.) How does your oc react to being told someone else’s secret? Do they lock it up tight, or spread it around?

Not Sera's business tbh... If someone is trusting him to tell him their secrets, he keeps those secrets close to his chest. How honest is your oc’s personality? Do they act how they feel, or do they tend to put up a front?

Serafim does not lie!! He HIDES things that he HAS to hide. But he does not lie. He hates lying. It doesn't feel good, he's a very honest person. Even in situations where it's like "does this look good on me?" and it obviously doesn't, he'll avoid hurting the person's feelings by finding something he DOES like, ie "the colour is really flattering!" ect ect. What’s something that your oc is insecure about? Something that someone could say to them that would really get under their skin?

He's kind of insecure about his accent? It feels misplaced in his family? It is noticeably different to the mishmash of spanish/french/american(canadian) sounding accents in the family. but!! he does bond with the twins a lil over sounding slightly different, so some good, some bad. But yeah, Sera just gets really insecure when his accent is pointed out because then it makes him feel he isn't as blended in his family. How much shame does your oc feel about themself or their past? Do they brush stuff off and feel carefree, or stay up at night recounting mistakes?

Serafim doesn't like to talk about the past. Not because he necessarily did anything wrong or worth being ashamed of, but because he suffered trauma as a child and he's still working through dealing with that. It's hard not to feel shame, even though he knows logically it wasn't his fault. Sometimes it keeps him up, but he knows his family is there for him now, and that he's safe. NOW he can brush stuff off very easily though! Is there anything your oc wants or likes that they have to keep secret, like a guilty pleasure? Anything that would get them ostracized, attacked, or just insulted for saying it out loud?

When you have ten million siblings, every god damn thing is something that will get insulted!! Céfiro always makes fun of him for loving dnd ):< If your oc could go back in time and change one moment from their life, would they, and what moment would they change?

How he reacted when meeting Alee! I'll write Sera being adopted into the family eventually, but uhhh... yeah he regrets how he handled that. If your oc had one day of their life where they were being monitored for a full 24 hours, and they knew this, what would they change about their routine?

Nothing?? Serafim is genuinely one of the more normal of the Destan-Mixtios.. he's just tryna go to school, work, learn some magic, play dnd, and swing his big ass sword around. If your oc had one day where they could do anything without being caught, what would they do?

Sera would deadass rob a Chapters so he can get all of the dnd books in physical copy, gn. Has your oc ever done anything illegal or immoral?

Only for survival. Not since. How far would your oc go to keep their secrets secret? How low would they stoop?

Not very. He doesn't want to hurt other people. Serafim would only hurt somebody to protect his family, not himself. Could your oc be effectively blackmailed with any of their secrets?

Serafim is actually really fucking blind. He's worse than Alee who is BAD. His eyesight is -6.50 in his left eye and -6.75 in his right eye. He needs glasses to see anything lmao- He is nearsighted though! And he HATES contacts, yucky.

Honestly his table manners were kinda shit before the destan-mixtios adopted him, but they are very good now! And as an adult, he works as a waiter during college and he's seen some BAD table manners. He won't say anything but he's :| yk?

I think he's a really good singer, but he's shy about how his accent shows when he sings, so he doesn't sing very often. He's not positive or negative about enjoyment though, it just is.

Scream if it isn't Céfiro's mouse. If it's Bonita, he's fine, calmly picks her up and brings her back to him. But if its a random mouse/rat he screams so fucking loud.

He heard their thoughts before their words so he's not surprised. He isn't above scaring them by repeating their words to them as they're saying them if it was particularly nasty though.

Trying to lift "Father of Stars'" scythe before they could warn him it'd be too heavy to lift that way. Luckily father was there to heal him.

He really likes Uno! but nobody plays with him because he cheats lmao. Sera WILL use his psychic ability to cheat but the thing is he doesn't lie, so he's open about what he's doing. Everyone knows everyone(but his) cards, basically.

Destan-Mixtio family thoughts....

-Faer wasn't able to speak until he was 5 years old, and they weren't sure he ever would. Nobody ever considered this an issue, given River is also notably mute and its just a Normal Thing in the house. However, a few months after his fifth birthday, Faer managed to say his first word. "sister" while pointing at Nerezza.

-When Cirino gets bored he'll throw those plastic ring toss rings at Vesper or Alee's tails. He usually nails Vesper's tail, slender and slimmer. Alee's is harder because, given his more canidae nature, his tail immediately starts wagging when he sees Cirino. Cute! But not conducive for Cirino's game.

-Marilla didn't want to be an Olympian but was talked into it by Serafim of all people. He used the "don't you want to make your siblings proud?" card and it worked instantly.

-After the birth of Morena, Alee suffered postpartum depression. However, because he didn't want to disappoint Cirino, he hid this fact until his pregnancy with Nerezza became risky due to the stress. He sought out therapy afterwards so as to make sure no further harm came to the baby.

-That being said, that is why there is such a large gap between Nerezza(2071) and Lucian(2203). Alee was afraid of the same thing happening again and instead focused on taking care of the orphanage children.

-Alee cannot speak reaper speak, he's not a reaper. But he can perfectly understand the Fates at all times if they are not /physically/ speaking. This is due to being tuned into a different frequency than others.

-Continuing on that, the Fates rarely if ever need to physically manifest when speaking to Alee due to him being tuned into their channel all the time. But sometimes, usually during large arguments, they will distort the area around him as a physical representation of what he always hears. This differs from their usual manifestations as this is more directly like a force of nature. It is jarring and migraine inducing to anyone that isn't a reaper. But it is the only effective way to get Alee to stop.

-'Fates Radio' is like a crowded event. There are groups everywhere, some small, some large. You move through this room and you can focus on conversations, bits and pieces, but there's always overlap. And you can tune it out but the distant conversations are always somewhat there. And it's specifically like a party where you don't really know anybody, you're rarely included. But sometimes a group drags you in and their voices are overlapping with the background voices and you're trying to focus but you can still hear bits and pieces of the conversations around you.

-There is also the idea that the Fates may be conversing with other people in these background conversations but it's never quite in 'reach' unless it's something large (ie a war would be big, lots would be talking as preparations are made). But ultimately Alee doesn't really Hear most of these conversations in any meaningful way. It's just loud and annoying and overlapping.

-Cirino outright enjoys listening to reaper speak and regularly falls asleep to Heath just talking to him. He's fallen asleep mid listening to Mieran and Lumio having a conversation, it's very cute when he just starts snoring.

-Both Cirino and Alee are excellent dancers due to their upbringings. Alee, however, is much rustier. Cirino is smug because he knows he's a good dancer. You ask Cirino to learn a dance and he's got it down in a few hours.

-Lumio wears a charm bracelet where each charm represents a different family member. They can swap the charms out as they wish, they have a whole fancy box full of them. All of the charms are handmade by Alee, and they get a new charm for any major entrance into the family.

-Kir Royale have a thing called Love Thursdays. It's a day where everyone makes sure they have the time to focus on one particular member of the polycule and make sure they feel loved and cared for. (It changes every thursday)

-Marilla hates being a mercenary but she knows its her or somebody else, and she refuses to let it be anybody else. Unfortunately, she's incredibly good at what she does.

-Marilla also tends to bite off more than she can chew. She's also the Destan-Mixtio child, besides Céfiro, that gets hurt the most. These two things go hand in hand. A hell of her own design.

-Being only Alee's biological child makes Amelia feel odd at times. I've mentioned before she'll overcompensate with spending time with her other parents. She's picked up A LOT of random skills.

-Céfiro's knuckles are permanently dislocated from his time on the streets. When he's doing tattoo work he wears compression gloves under his nitrile gloves.

-Deven legally changed his last name to Agosti-Wolnes when he turned nineteen.

-Similarly to Amelia, being only Cirino's biological child often makes Deven feel a bit odd. They bonded over this fact and are very close. He likes to tease her for showing up the same way he did. "Copying me now, are ya?"

-After Alee's first severe depressive bout where Vesper ended up having to cut a good chunk of his (matted) hair out. Alee will let Fennel, and only Fennel, brush his hair when he's too sad to move to keep the same thing from happening again.

-Céfiro, Fennel, and Alee have similar nightmares. This sometimes ends with the two boys asleep on either of Alee's shoulders on the couch. A safety net.

-Eglantine tried to have Alee assassinated twelve separate times.

-Alee would never say it out loud but he thinks River is a big père's baby. He loves it tho lol

-Sienna, Heath and Alee's daughter, resembles her deceased aunt in both looks and personality. This was incredibly jarring to both of them.

-I don't think Heath ever mentions it to him, but Alee tends to hold them and press his face against them the exact same way Sienna used to. It caught them off guard the first few times, and they always think about it when he does it.

-Alee never intended for Mieran to find out about the reaper poison because he didn't want Mieran to be disappointed in him. He calls himself a sociopathic murderer who "killed somebody who wasn't even involved." and his main fear about Lumio telling Mieran, was how Mieran would look at him afterwards.

-Alee rarely fears disappointing Cirino or Vesper. He knows they won't turn their backs on him. However, due to his history and his own misguided fears, he is regularly afraid of letting any of the reapers down.

-When Alee is sad, Lumio will bring him maple cookies.

-Deven can see a person's death date, but only if they've already died. He can also see their full name, and if they're a reaper, their title. As such he can always spot a sorcerer, if they've died, or reaper.

-Cirino only has one death date, and when asked about it, refuses to talk about it. Alee has dozens of death dates.

-Céfiro doesn't pray at all. On the flipside, Serafim prays every day.

-Faer, Deven, and Amelia all have magic that don't align with their families and are considered evolutions.

-Serafim is scared of snowstorms.

-Faer feels most at home in a storm.

-Marilla regularly isn't sure of who she is and while she jokes about it, it deeply bothers her. She's in therapy for it, but that doesn't always help the ongoing identity crisis. Especially since she needs to be so many people as part of her duty.

-Marilla's shapeshifting magic is on par with a reaper's natural ability.

-Until his greys started growing in, Caiden was a picture perfect copy of Vesper. Still is lol

-Cirino taught Marilla how to use her bow.

-Aster wanted to have fox features. But nyo, he is cat.

-The tip of Aster's bombay tail is white. Like Alee's silver fox colouring.

-Serafim got bullied in school and one day when the bully broke his glasses, Alee nearly went in there himself to beat the child- Instead, Céfiro did it.

-River is regularly bailing Marilla out of trouble to avoid their parents finding out.

-All of their pets are magical with the exception of Katrina. Alee has to semi-regularly use forbidden magic to use his magical lifespan to turn the clock back on her lifespan.

-Life transference is a closely guarded Destan secret, but Alee was the only Destan to perfect it due to his increased energy stores.

-Lux Aestiva is Amelia's favourite holiday.

-Amelia's biological mother, Catherine, is referred to as Aunt(ie) Cathy by the other children and is a regular part of everyone's lives. She's a high school science teacher.

-Serafim goes into social work to be more like his parents.

-Deven's favourite parent is Heath and he makes sure they know it.

-While the kids don't outwardly know this, Vesper and Alee will always choose each other first. Because they need each other to function for anybody else.

-Alee believes in life after death in an nontraditional sense. He believes one's energy may seek each other once it is returned to the universe. He believes Vesper to be his soulmate and will truly refuse to hear otherwise.

-Aster is deathly afraid of fire.

-Helena is allergic to bees.

-Lucian's fox form could be closely likened to a champagne fox, a rare mutation on the red fox. Alee's own coat, silver, is also a mutation from the standard Destan red fox coat. Amelia is a pure cross fox and Marilla is undeniably also a silver fox, as are Sienna and Faer. Interestingly enough, Helena is a normal red fox morph, however their vitiligo is visible in fox form too.

Exactly. From childhood to adulthood. How do they feel about their birthday/birthdays in general? Before being inducted into the Destan-Mixtio hall of fame, he never really liked his birthday. But now he does :) Father Evening always buys him all the books he asks for. Have they ever dyed their hair? Ever cut it themself? Dyed it? No. He's just blond. He has cut it himself though! Alee stopped letting him do that after a while though.... How do they feel about alcohol? Neutral? He'll drink it occasionally, socially. Contrary to popular belief, it is not green. It is actually sky blue. How do they feel about rain? He likes rain :) very calming. What’s a song they really like? Symphony No. 40, Mozart. Do they have any hobbies? He likes playing video games with River, he'll colour in drawings that Fennel has done and given him, he likes to cosplay with Marilla, he and Araceli will talk music for hours, and he likes to watch anime with Céfiro! He and Amelia also quite enjoy gardening together. And Caiden is still too young for hobbies, but Serafim reads to him! What do they absolutely need to have to fall asleep? An orphan from a remote village in Russia, Serafim is the 4th child introduced to the Destan-Mixtio family, albeit the third youngest of the family. With no intrinsic magical affinities, Serafim was instead plagued with the ability to look into others' thoughts and feelings. A natural empath, Serafim grew overwhelmed with his new power. It is thanks to his new family he's been able to harness his power for good.

Serafim was the og name and the name I went with! But his name is "technically" Серафим. Though this isn't Serafim's original given name, that would be Демьян/Demyan.

Rose - What is your OC's favourite form of self-care?

...He likes buying things.. Retail therapy with papa's credit card.

There's a ruffled black blouse that Serafim stole from Alee when he first joined the family and its his favourite item tbh.. It means a lot to him, esp since Alee let him keep it.

That his family will abandon him again, especially for his oddities.

His most used phrase is "I sense" due to his psychic abilities (,: he'll often preface a full sentence with that.

Daisy - What inspired you to create your OC?

Rowan and I were discussing the fact Alee and Vesper often adopt sorcerer kids in shitty situations. And I decided I wanted a Russian one, and then I wanted one with odd inexplicable abilities. So he ended up being a psychic!

He's a bit awkward. Due to acting like he's in an 1800s period piece at all times and his mannerisms he sorta puts other people off. But he's polite?? he's just.. Awkward.

Yes. Its not as bad as an adult because hes learned to block out people's thoughts, but when he was younger it was especially bad. He also can't be around massive crowds for extended times. When he was younger, Alee used to give him ear plugs if they HAD to go somewhere with big crowds.

I like to think so! Awkwardness aside, he's a bleeding heart, he's so genuine.

When he was adopted. Serafim doesn't cry very easily.

His entire manner of speech is a speaking quirk so there's that! He also has a habit of chewing on the tip of his pen.

FACE & FEATURES

glance: At first glance, what stands out most about your OC's appearance? What's their distinguishing feature?

Serafim suffers from the Destan Stare which is to say he and papa alee both have this far off look like they know more than you about any given situation. And not even in a condescending way, just a "something is clearly going on there" sort of way. It's just very distinguishable..

face: Describe your OC's face. What's their smile like? Are their orbs cerulean? What would someone notice first when looking at them?

For a man who self admittedly does not go out in the sun very often, Serafim has a nice little tan. His features are a tad soft, with a sharp nose. His smile is slightly crooked and he usually doesn't fully smile, more turns the corners of his mouth up a little. His eyes are such a vibrant shade of green though its kinda of crazy. The eyes are always the first thing.

stature: What's your OC's body type? How tall are they? Do they wear clothing to accentuate their look or do they try to mask it?

He's surprisingly broad, but his clothes don't show it off that well. He was a really small kid so how broad and tall he becomes (193cm) is crazy. Sera loves layers though. Victorian lookin...

He's coordinated but.. Absent. Like he's always got something on the mind. His clothes do stifle some of his movement but I mean he looks so good.. soo

He'll look around, or stare intensely at something/someone. Is he reading their thoughts? Is he blocking their thoughts? Is he desperately attempting not to hear the overwhelming Thoughts? Any number of option. And it shows in how he tends to fidget. His clothes don't really affect anything.

canvas: Does your OC have any scars, piercings, tattoos, or other markings? Do they display or cover them up at all?

He wears glasses? And his ears are pierced.. He also has a bunch of freckles on his shoulders and nose. He covers up his shoulders but that's just his aesthetic, he's not trying to hide anything.

CUT & CLOTHES

The silky two piece pajama set I'm so sorry. It's a nice forest green.

Victorian and Edwardian clothes. Gothic masc lolita vibe. It's just what he likes wearing! He has a bunch of outfits, maybe way too many. He also steals clothes from Alee's closet. He likes how it makes him feel.

He's ALWAYS dressed up! He owns like one (1) normal suit and its because he was told he had to for "official destan-mixtio business" he hates the suit.

A turtleneck sweater, cableknit sweater, comfy grey sweats, his hair down.. so comfy.

Depends on the weather, but he does own a lot of longer gothic looking coats. The Destan-Mixtios move around a lot so the weather also changes. But I mean we'll say Cali and say he doesn't usually need a coat.

footwear: What does your OC wear on their feet?

Boots usually. Sometimes fancy shoes.

He looks like a normal guy going on vacation but with a lace black parasol bye

A sword!! And a magical tome. The tome belongs to the Destans. And the sword, his fathers made for him :) his sword means everything to him. The tome is usually in his bag, since he can't actually bring the sword everywhere.

Yeah gothic masc lolita and victorian fashion.

velvet is fucking disgusting to Serafim. HE HATES IT. He can deal with most fabrics and textures, but velvet.. yucky.

He owns clothes and books, I'm pretty sure thats it. So many clothes and so many books... He can sew yeah! Usually he gets Alee to fix it though,,, papa is better at it.

ACCESSORIES & ACCENTS

bling: What jewelry does your OC wear? Does it have any meaning?

Just earrings and a rather plain silver ring on his thumb. The silver ring belonged to his bio father. He used to wear it on a necklace before he grew into it.

hair: How does your OC wear their hair? Does it have some kind of meaning?

He ties most of it up in a ponytail, but he'll do different styles sometimes. No real meaning, just thick hair.

makeup: Does your OC wear makeup? How often? What kind? Why do they wear makeup, and do they like it?

Face stuff, some mascara. He likes makeup, but he doesn't like a lot of makeup.

I think I mentioned before his favourite article of clothing is a blouse he stole from Alee back in the day that he still has? He wears it pretty frequently, its a good base point of his outfits. Beyond this, he also has a button up he stole from Vesper that he wears when he needs to be fancy dancy.

Heee has not. Besides growing his hair out. He's always kinda looked like that. He doesn't mind change, he just likes how he looks lol
