Every time I see a Nibelheim argument that boils down to "Sephiroth did the thing because his ego/pride was shattered" I want to rip my hair out.
#ff7#ffvii#final fantasy 7#crisis core#sephcanons#sephiroth#nibelheim incident#Like okay that is a teeny tiny component but it was NOT the overriding factor#It's so much more than that#Sephiroth doesn't go insane because he thought he was better than everyone else and the truth called that into question#He goes insane because he correctly discerns that he was a lab-grown inhuman soldier being exploited by the company that raised him#AND it makes sense for him to go to Jenova--he feels he was wronged and the thing with the Cetra only adds to that.#Jenova is the only person that can understand him and the only thing he ever wanted#Plus you know he was extremely mentally unwell#so there's that too#Lost pride is only a fraction of Sephiroth's motivations#It's a matter of dehumanization and years of trauma finally taking their toll#He is delusional about his place in the world because it's all he has to cling to#the alternative is to die#Sephiroth has been taught survival all his life and THIS is how his mind rationalizes he will survive
