It had been a quiet week at the hospital, as quiet as it could be. You had spent most of your days visiting Seo-Won, watching him take his slow, tentative steps toward recovery. Sometimes, he was cheerful, other times, he retreated into his shell. But you loved him all the same, patiently waiting for the days when his smile felt a little more genuine and his words flowed a little more freely.

Today was different. You’d arrived at his room, ready to sit through another long afternoon of gentle conversation, when you noticed something on the bed. A folded piece of paper, with your name written in delicate, unfamiliar handwriting.

Your heart skipped as you picked it up, a soft rustle as you unfolded it. It was a letter, and Seo-Won’s words filled the Dear Y/N,I’m not always good at saying things out loud. You know that. I think I’ve always struggled with showing what I feel, even though I care so much. I want you to know that, even when I seem quiet or distant, I am always thinking of you. I am always grateful for the way you listen to me, for how you never rush me, even when the words are stuck inside. I don’t know if I’ve ever told you, but you make things easier for me, in ways I can’t explain.

There are days I feel like I don’t deserve you, but I’m thankful you’re here. Thankful that, even when everything seems complicated, you’ve never given up on me. You blinked back a sudden rush of tears as you read the last line. You had never expected a letter, especially not from him. Seo-Won rarely shared his feelings so openly, always keeping them hidden behind a calm, distant facade. But this... this letter was a quiet revelation. It was raw, tender, and so incredibly real.

Seo-Won, who often struggled to open up, had put pen to paper. And he had done it just for you.

You looked up to find him watching you from the bed, a hesitant, almost anxious look in his eyes as if he was worried you’d reject this fragile piece of himself. But before he could say anything, you crossed the room and sat beside him, wrapping your arms around him in a warm, gentle hug.

“I don’t know what to say,” you whispered, your voice thick with emotion. “This means everything to me, Seo-Won. I... I’m so happy you gave this to me. I love you.”

He stiffened slightly at the words, his face flushing a soft shade of pink, but you could see the small smile that tugged at his lips, a smile that wasn’t there before.

“I’m glad,” he murmured quietly, his voice barely above a whisper. “I... I was worried it wasn’t enough.”

“You’re more than enough,” you reassured him, kissing the top of his head. “This letter... it’s the most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done for me.”

Seo-Won looked down at his hands, nervously twisting the edges of the blanket. “I’m not good with... big gestures,” he admitted. “But I wanted you to know...”

“You don’t have to do anything big,” you said softly, cupping his face in your hands. “Just you being here, being yourself, is everything I need. I’m lucky to have you.”

Seo-Won’s gaze softened, and for the first time in a long while, you saw a flicker of peace in his eyes. He wasn’t the loudest or the most expressive, but he loved in his own way, and that was enough.

And as you sat together in the quiet room, the letter resting between you like a quiet promise, you knew that no matter what came next, you’d treasure this small but beautiful gesture forever.
