It has arrived! And though I DID finish the gameplay, they dropped a 2024 HD Remaster!
Now, originally, I was gonna do a 5-year anniversary gameplay in January (considering I did the "final" part in January of 2020) while replaying as the male protagonist...
And then they drop this shit!
Thankfully I DON'T remember ANYTHING about this game! So, we're gonna re-experience this whole thing together again!

Two Sides of the Same Coin: Misao and Mad Father
I can't stop thinking about the parallels between Misao and Mad Father. Misao came first, in 2011, and Mad Father came out a year later in 2012. They're both created by Sen (aka Miscreant's Room) and they're chock full of the same themes and ideas. Misao and Mad Father are like two sides of the same coin in terms of plot, theme, and character. They're telling the same sort of story from two different sides.
Misao is about a girl who is tortured by her classmates, and the revenge she takes on them, and the kind girl with a dark side who, frankly, has no problem at all with her taking revenge. The school is overrun with supernatural entities trying to kill everyone and we have to stop it. You learn through flashbacks how each different character hurt Misao. Its a revenge-driven supernatural force where we're on the side of the victim taking revenge.
By contrast, Mad Father is about a man who tortures people, and his kind daughter with a dark side who loves him. The numerous victims of his horrific experiments haunt the house and cannot rest, and they will do anything to bring him down with them. The house is overrun with supernatural entities trying to kill everyone and we have to stop it. You learn through flashbacks how each different character was hurt by father. Its a revenge driven supernatural force where we're on the side of the villain who caused all this hurt.
The wild thing is, to a certain extent, the side of story you're on is purely circumstantial. Aki takes Misao's side because she thought Misao was cool when she was alive and wanted to be friends. Aya takes her father's side because he's her father and she loves him. Its not something inherent in their morality, its affection for a person for both of them. There is even a bit of ironic parallel between Aki and Aya in that Aki is actually part demon and Aya is metaphorically part demon by being her father's daughter. In both cases, the supernatural does take its revenge. The difference here, of course, is that Aki helps Misao let go and everyone is reincarnated for a second chance, while Aya becomes like her father.

A revamped version of Mad Father has been released on Steam and the Nintendo Switch eShop!
(Note: If you already bought Mad Father on Steam, it's a free update.)
Aya Drevis is a young girl living in an isolated mansion in northern Germany. Since her mother's passing, she's felt lonely living with just her father and his assistant Maria. What's more, having heard the screams from the basement, she knows her father's secret...
This is a major revamp of Sen (Miscreant Room)'s classic horror exploration WOLF RPG Editor game Mad Father, now also ported to Nintendo Switch!
Notable features: - Character sprites and environments redone from scratch, as well as some art edits. Also, now in widescreen! - New additional scenes and maps. - Numerous puzzles and sequences reworked. - Gamepad support, story/sidequest objective tracking, an optional "noise filter" effect, and an unlockable Doll Maker toy. - A new second playthrough called Blood Mode, unlocked upon beating the game.

⚠️ BLOOD WARNING ⚠️

"Mad Father."
Imagine Gaster doesn't want his sons to be 'dirtied', so he decided to kill them and made them into dolls. Ahh I'm just replaying the Mad Father game and then this idea suddenly came to my mind so I decided to just draw this crossover!

More than 500 treaties have been made between the government and Indian tribes and all were broken, nulllified or amended. Nothing's changed.
The mere fact that the Keystone XL oil pipeline has even been considered is a violation of law and shouldn’t have seen blueprints, let alone having this North American monster voted on by the Senate and House of Representatives.
The unmitigated arrogance of it all! U.S. Congressmen and U.S. Senators had no right to even vote on the Keystone XL. A treaty is a law, and breaking a treaty, or attempting to break a treaty, is a criminal act. Democratic U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu is no better than the vilest of all miscreant reprobates – for throwing her version of the bill before her Senate peers. To think that a Democrat would be behind this thing is appalling to me. I've always believed the Democratic Party was the “Party of the People” and the political party that looks out for of the interests of the working class, the poor, even the underdog. Certainly, Democratic Senators would at least be sensitive to treaties the government has in place with American Indians. Well, it's definitely not the case with U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu.
Political analysts have concluded that Landrieu’s stake in politicking for the Keystone XL was entirely self-serving. Facing Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy, who authored the bill for the U.S. House (which passed the bill Friday, Nov. 14), Landrieu's main intent in all this was to save her seat in a Dec. 6 runoff reelection in Louisiana, Vying again for her fourth term in a matter of days, Sen. Landrieu's Senate bill would have been a crowd pleaser in a state where energy is the leading industry.
In the Nov. 4 general election, Landrieu got only 14 percent of the white vote and she needs at least 30 percent of this demographic to win Dec. 6's runoff. On Nov. 4, the vote was too close to call, necessitating another election, with Landrieu getting 42 percent and Cassidy getting 41 percent. Tea Party candidate Rob Maness (R), got just under 14 percent and his support is expected to sway to Cassidy in the runoff election.
Called “an act of war” by the president of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, the Keystone XL proposal is a terrible thing. The Republican-led House is a room filled with criminals; and if the standard elementary definition of a "criminal" is defined as anyone who breaks a law – and since treaties are laws - I have no problem calling these “good and great” law breakers criminals.
"The House has now signed our death warrants and the death warrants of our children and grandchildren. The Rosebud Sioux Tribe will not allow this pipeline through our lands,” Cyril Scott, president of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, is attributed to have said  the day after the House voted in favor of the Keystone XL.

Poster number 6 is Mad Father a second game created by Sen (Miscreant’s Room) Let it be known….. I had to redo this right before uploading as I realized I spelt Miscreant wrong…. And hadn’t saved a copy with the text still adjustable before closing…. Spelling has never been my forte, and it continues to plague me…. This one references a Kill Bill vol. 1 poster.
A good horror game with an awesome story. There are two versions of it, a free version and an updated one for about $5 on Steam. The update adds a bit more, though the one thing I will say that is not a great change is the spoken lines by the Doctor. It went from kinda creepy to…. “really? That’s what you’re gonna say?” Outside of that it is still a really good game.
Rest of the Series

A revamped version of Misao is now out on Steam and Playism!
Once again, Playism has published one of my classic free game translations. The free versions aren't going anywhere, of course! But Sen gave the game a rather significant update for this release, which I would say is probably more extensive than Mad Father's. Hence "Definitive Edition," I guess The primary changes are:
Totally redone tilesets and sprites - everyone's big now - and somewhat-redone illustrations.
The layout of everything and the puzzles changed a bunch; some things were shuffled, some are brand new.
Some new scenes (plus a certain something was "streamlined") and translation improvements. Yeah, that's the correct reading for his name. Sorry.
New deaths, which shouldn't be surprising, because it's Misao. And what are achievements for if not making you seek out every deathtrap?
Not a new feature, but it is if you missed version 3: you can now choose male or female Aki from the start.
The uniform designs were finally changed!!
