The back of this smartphone has a matte finish, which looks better than a glossy finish, though its slippery than normal phones.

Both the front and the back of the phone have a Gorilla Glass Victus, which strengthens your phone and more resistance to scratch compared to normal glass being used on other phones.

But is it worth the premium price? My answer is yes. It is more than just a phone. If you can appreciate all that we have reviewed above, you would agree of the same thing.

Alternatives

Are looking for a less expensive smartphone. Here are three alternative you should look at that are worth your time and still on the same category:

Samsung Galaxy S20 series

Earlier we mentioned that Note 20 Ultra is competing against the Galaxy S20 series. The two devices have a lot of similar specs such as wireless charging, One UI, 120Hz OLED screen and they both have IP68 design on the phone.

The S20 is a great phone so long as you don’t care about the camera improvements made on the Note 20 Ultra and the S Pen. If you want a cutting edge experience, then consider purchasing the Note 20 Ultra.

If money is a factor to consider when buying a new device, i would recommend that you pick the S20. You will have a great device and save up on a few thousand shillings.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series

If you love the Note family and want to save money, then picking the Galaxy Note 10 is also a great option. Both the Note 10 and Note 20 Ultra have Snapdragon 865 Plus, OLED 60Hz panels, 10 MP selfie camera and a flexible front camera.

Note 10 is a relatively cheap flagship that comes with an S pen. It comes with a big battery capacity of 3,500mAh. also has a big battery capacity of 3500mAh, fast charging, and it supports wireless charging of 15 watts.

OnePlus 8 Pro

If you want to take a break from Samsung, consider the OnePlus 8 Pro. It has lots of similar features. Such as a 120Hz refresh rate, 30Watts wireless charging, Snapdragon silicon and IP68 rating.

One plus 8 Pro also has a quad main camera with 48 MP, 48 MP Ultra-wide camera, a 5MP color filter and a 8MP 3X telephoto. Pretty much of what we have seen on the Note 20 Ultra.

Verdict of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Review

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in Kenya is a great phone. What makes it perfect is the minor improvements made by the company. Better low light photography, all options when shooting video, no fingerprint smudge on the back of the phone and the variable refresh rate saving on the battery.

Could Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 do better? Yes, for a flagship of 2020 costing this much, they should expand the storage they are offering from 126 GB to 256 GB. But then again, every time you buy a phone there, a trade-offs you have to make.

Would i recommend you buy this phone? The answer is both Yes and No. Buying a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or 10 would still perform a decent job and they are less expensive.

One reason why people upgrade their devices is cause the latest smartphone is super nice and flashy. But that’s not with Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, the phone is not classy but it is a tech bump. it has better improvements from what there is on the other note smartphones. Making it worth your time and money when you buy this phone.

Virtual Tour: Artists Talk - Alan Govenar

I decided to attend the Artists Talk Webex meeting. Not only was this my first Artists Talk event, this was my first one online. This was a great opportunity and I’m glad I woke up early enough to see the notification!

I did not know who Alan Govenar was before this, so I was interested to see what works he wanted to talk about. He showed us pictures from his time documenting the homeless. I think it’s admirable how he values human life and tries to give people a perspective of the homeless. The project/film is called “Stewpot”, which was the name of the homeless shelter. He filmed, took pictures, and interacted with the community there while making this documentary. He also discussed a different film he was a part of called “K2 Selling Death”, which was about the drug problem on the Dallas streets.

Whenever he was showing us some of the photos he took for the “Stewpot” project, it was interesting to see what he decided to take. Someone asked about his photography process, like what does he look for in a photo. He has in interest in color photography, giving his photos a more painterly feel. There was an example of a homeless person kneeling down with his hood up outside of an amphitheater. The person was wearing all camouflage except for his red hood. This struck Alan as an interesting picture and opportunity so he took it. My favorite conversation from this Webex meeting was the discussion over ethics. To sum it up, he puts human life first before the photo. He likes to interact and talk to with the people he takes pictures of to not only be an observer, but someone involved. When photographing and filming something as sensitive as homelessness, you would have to be mindful of who you’re filming. He also told us a story about a photographer who took pictures of a vulture that ended up killing a child. The photographer was too focused on the vulture and he could’ve saved the child. In the end, the photographer took his own life.

He also mentioned how dangerous it can be to film about topics like K2. The sellers obviously did not want to be recorded, and he had to be weary as the streets can be pretty dangerous.

As for his process, he talks about how the equipment itself can invoke a response in people. People might see the big camera and think “news” or “media” and become unwilling to participate. I did not think about how the equipment can affect people like this, but it makes perfect sense. If you look the part, people will probably just assume.

Some interesting tidbits are that he films a lot on his iPhone 11 max pro, which is amazing because I would not have thought he’d use that for some of his films. He also had some plumbing issues and the plumber came in around the time we were doing the meeting so it was a nice breather from the web meeting. His opinion of documentary films is that all of them are subjective work based on their framing. I agree since we choose what we want to show in videos, and how we present the information would definitely change how the viewer perceives our work.

In its black packaging, or even set on a counter, Samsung’s new Galaxy S20 Ultra looks similar to any other modern smartphones. Only after picking up the device do you realize that it’s the goliath of phones.

The Ultra is the biggest model in Samsung’s new three-phone lineup, unveiled last week. It also has another distinction: A camera that comes with a zoom lens that’s supposed to be more powerful than what’s has been included in any phone before it.

Samsung sent Fortune an Ultra to review on Thursday, so consider this to be merely a first impression of it based on one day of use. Next week, we’ll be back with a more complete review.

Though it’s rather costly, starting at $1,400, the Ultra may be good for people who depend on their phones more than PCs or laptops. And for serious photographers who want to use a phone camera, it simply can’t be matched.

Is that an Ultra in your pocket?

First, let’s discuss the Ultra’s size: It has a 6.9-inch screen compared with 6.7 inches for its sister phone, the S20+, and 6.2 for the regular S20. In fact, Ultra’s screen is bigger than iPhone 11 Pro Max’s 6.5-inch screen along with that of the comparatively tiny 6.3-inch Google Pixel 4 XL.

Despite its size, the Ultra isn’t much heavier than its rivals. At 220 grams (or just under 8 ounces), it’s a few grams lighter than the iPhone 11 pro Max and 27 grams heavier than the Pixel 4 XL.

When held in the hand, though, the Ultra’s big screen is nearly impossible to operate with one hand. I regularly had to use two hands to use the phone. For example, the phone’s amazing camera features—more about those later—sometimes required that I use my right hand to hold the phone and press the shutter while using my left hand to adjust the settings. It also tended to slide out of the back pocket of my pants while I was seated, a problem I’d never had with other phones.

The best phone zoom lens

And that brings us to the cameras, which truly differentiate Ultra from other mainstream phones. To start with, the back of the phone has an enormous, rectangular camera bump with four lenses and a flash.

The regular camera has a sensor with 108 megapixels, more than any other popular phone. Theoretically, at least, the Ultra can provide more detail than competitors’ cameras with 12, 16, or 24-megapixel resolutions. But sometimes adding more megapixels results in photos with mushy details or muted colors. Although the pictures I took with the main lens looked great, it will take more than a day of testing to render a verdict on the 108-megapixel sensor.

But it’s Ultra’s zoom lens that truly sets the Ultra apart. Most other phones have a zoom lens that can magnify a subject two or three times before requiring software tricks to zoom more. But those techniques usually degrade image quality.

The Ultra, however, has a 10-times optical zoom that works incredibly well. The pictures the phone takes at 10-times magnification are clear and detailed, as you can see in this shot of a Mini Wheats cereal box. On the left is a cropped picture from the Ultra. On the right is a similar cropped shot from the iPhone 11 Pro taken from the same distance at 10-times magnification, which relies on software to zoom in. The difference is striking.

How did Samsung do it? It used a rather clever trick.

Samsung invented a new way to install the lens. Instead of protruding from the back of the phone, as all phone lenses have in previous phones, the Ultra’s longer and more powerful lens is tucked inside the phone and placed sideways. To bring the image into the lens, the phone has a prism to reflect light into the lens at an angle.

It’s the same principle that lets a submarine skipper use a periscope to see what’s happening on the ocean’s surface.

In addition to the Ultra’s big-league zoom, the phone comes with software to enhance images even more. Samsung says its technology can provide the equivalent of 100-times magnification.

Sitting in a coffee shop, I was able to use the phone to read employee shift assignments on a clipboard behind the counter a good 20-feet away. Well, maybe not exactly read. The problem with the 100-times zoom magnification is that the images are somewhat fuzzy because it’s difficult to hold your hands still enough. Combined with the loss of detail that comes from using software to increase zoom, and the picture quality is underwhelming.

Ready for better 5G

One of the Ultra’s other signature features—5G compatibility— isn’t quite ready for prime time. Samsung’s S20 lineup is among the first to be able to connect to all of the various flavors of 5G available in the U.S. That includes the superfast 5G that Verizon offers in some cities as well as the not quite so fast type that T-Mobile and AT&T have rolled out more broadly (both carriers also sell the superfast variety, but in more limited areas).

Currently, it’s difficult to test how well the Ultra connects to both kinds of 5G because none of the carriers have made both flavors available in one location. Stay tuned, because that should change soon.

Until then, you’ll have to just be satisfied uploading your amazing Ultra photos on good old 4G.

Arplis - News: How to Make Listing Videos That Charm Buyers and Compel Sellers to Hire You

Tim Macy had a problem. He was about to put a new home on the market and wanted to make a listing video to promote it online. The home was nice enough, but nothing about it really stood out. It was like a lot of the homes in the neighborhood.

Then he found something unusual: a tiny desk and office underneath the stairs. Macy, a top agent with RockHouse Realty Group at eXp Realty in San Antonio who was recently named a 2019 BombBomb Real Estate Video Influencer, had the hook he needed to create a better listing video.

In the video I say, Check out this house because it has this Harry Potter room and one of the first shots is me sitting in the room and my daughter opening the door. Its so engaging and that gave it a little boost and more exposure.

Problem solved.

That kind of creativity is a must when you think about how much video people watch online. YouTube says we watch more than one billion hours of video every day. And when it comes to Facebook, 60% of Americans who watch digital video do so on Facebook. Instagram says more than 500 million users watch video on Instagram Stories every day.

But most real estate agents arent taking advantage of video. In the National Association of Realtors 2019 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, only 10 percent of sellers reported that their agent used video to market their home.

Video is no longer the next thing; its the now thing, Macy says. If youre not doing it for your listings, youre doing yourself and your clients a disservice.

The good news is that its never too late to start making videos for your listings. Here are nine steps to make listing videos that will both charm homebuyers and compel sellers to hire you.

1.) Your first decision: hire a videographer or do it yourself?

Ryan Snaadt, an Iowa-based real estate videographer who also trains aspiring video professionals, says it takes him a couple of hours to create a high-quality real estate listing video; he charges clients $750 and up per video. The final cost depends on a number of factors such as the homes size and listing price. The length of the video you want (see below for more on that) and even where youre located can also impact your costs.

In informal conversations, several agents and videographers told us that a typical 2-3 minute listing video should cost between $300 and $1,000, but you may come across fees as high as $2,000 to $3,000. Bottom line: get quotes from several videographers to learn the current rates in your area.

Ask other agents for recommendations

Reach out to eager students in the film/video department at your local college or university

Search web sites like Upwork.com, Thumbtack.com and Freelancer.com

If those sites dont have enough choices in your area, check wedding website TheKnot.com many video pros advertise themselves primarily to brides and grooms

Not all agents can afford to hire a videographer, especially if youre selling a lower-priced home. If you dont have the budget to hire a pro for all of your listing videos, theres nothing wrong with the do-it-yourself approach. You can also shoot a fun video on your iPhone and be creative, says Snaadt.

A simple, inexpensive gear list for the do-it-yourself real estate agent might include:

Camera: your smartphone, especially if its the latest model

Microphone: Pop voice lavalier microphone (currently $13)

Tripod: UBeesize 5-foot tripod with smartphone mount (currently $35)

Lighting: not needed, use natural light (more on this below)

Editing software: iMovie (included with Apple devices) or Final Cut Pro X (Mac/$300), Adobe Premiere (Mac & Windows/$21 per month), DaVinci Resolve (Mac & Windows/free version or $300)

Macy often records a lot of video content on his iPhone 11 Pro Max. Ill shoot a selfie of me out in front of the house and say, Hey, its Tim. Im at 123 Main Street and I want you to check out this house because it has an unbelievable kitchen and its just been renovated.

2.) Dont just start shooting. A great listing video begins with a plan.

If youre hiring a professional, Macy says you should give the videographer specific examples of what you want your video to look like. Include the fact that you want it to be at this pace, with this type of music and with these type of shots, he says.

Youve given them a guide and something to go by and youll tend to be happier with the results you get back.

If youre making the video yourself, this isnt the time to whip out your phone and record with no focus. A D-I-Y video shoot should begin with preparation like this:

Scout the home inside and out. Look for unique features that you want to highlight, like Macy did with the Harry Potter room. Do this at different times of day, so that you can

decide on the best time of day to shoot your video. As you scout the home, look at the natural lighting and shadows in each room. Harsh sunlight can make a room and home look less appealing, which is exactly what you dont want to do.

Make a list of shots you want to get. Think about the shot(s) that will capture attention in the first five seconds of your video and convince viewers to keep watching. If the home looks particularly beautiful in the soft light of a sunrise or sunset, that might be a perfect opening scene.

On that last point, if you dont know what shots you want in your video, watch other listing videos on YouTube for inspiration. Dont copy another agents style exactly, but pick and choose the shots and styles you like to create a listing video that fits you and the homes you sell.

3.) Make a listing video for every home you sell.

Listing videos are great for showcasing million-dollar homes, but agents should make listing videos for homes in all price points.

Obviously luxury videos are fun because everybody likes to dream about living in one of those, but what if you made a video about a fantastic house thats less than $200,000? says Macy. You can talk about how great of an affordable home it is and show how close it is to the park.

Think of it this way: You write a listing description for every home, not just your high-end properties. Its the same way with listing videos. Every house has a story, Macy says. Every house has something.

4.) Put yourself in every listing video so viewers get to know you.

Many home listing videos consist of music and video shots of the homes interior and exterior. Thats it. Effective? Maybe. But when you have people in a video its more engaging, says Macy. And if your content is not engaging, its going to disappear and nobodys going to watch it.

In one of his own videos, Macy jumped on a scooter and recorded his two-minute ride through San Antonio to the home he had listed for sale.

Some people would say, Why dont you focus on the house instead of riding a scooter down the street? Well, if I just did that, nobody would see it. But since I jumped on a scooter and went by local restaurants, more people watched and more people saw the house, Macy says.

A listing video isnt just about selling the home; its also a way to introduce yourself to potential clients. Put yourself in every listing video, even if its just a spoken intro and outro. I see agents that put out a ton of listing videos that theyre not in and people arent getting to know that agent, Macy says.

5.) Match the music to the mood of the home.

Youre making a video, but dont overlook the audio. Along with beautiful visuals, the right soundtrack will help buyers get a sense of what it would be like to live in the home. The music in your listing video should appeal to potential buyers and match the mood of the home.

A country cabin listing would have different music than a cottage on the beach, says Snaadt.

In this video [above], the music is upbeat, modern, and happy similar to this homes layout. If it were a snow-covered cabin in the woods, you would look for music that is more rustic and fits the style of the home. [The video below] would be more of that rustic example with acoustic spunky music.

One agent sent Snaadt a very confusing listing video that she created to sell a high-end, million-dollar castle. It was so fast-cutting and the music was high intensity, he says. Sometimes you get lost in the creative and forget the strategy, which is to entice people who want to come to see the home.

6.) Dont worry about how long the video is; worry about how great it is.

Look around on YouTube and youll find listing videos that run the gamut from really short to really long. Have you ever seen a 37-minute long listing video? Heres one. More common is a video like this one that runs slightly more than three minutes. And heres one that runs about 14 minutes.

Theres no such thing as a perfect length, as long as its entertaining and engaging, says Macy.

Macy explains that youll know the right length for your listing video when youre editing it. Say youve got your daughter who has a puppy in the video because its a vacant listing and that makes it more fun. You get the shots, put the video together and feel like youve got a minute and 20 seconds of real entertaining stuff, so the video is one minute and 20 seconds. If you feel like its only entertaining for 45 seconds, then only make it 45 seconds.

7.) Use a drone, but dont overdo it.

In the past, real estate agents might rent a helicopter in order to capture aerial views of a special property. Today, many agents use a drone to capture that magical view above tree-level, and that footage often becomes the opening or closing shot of a listing video. Drone shots are also used to show potential buyers the home in the context of the neighborhood. For example, you can show how close the home is to parks, schools, and shopping centers.

Drone footage can be captivating, but Macy urges agents to be careful. Drone shots are a powerful tool, but dont fall in love with them or overuse them, he says. We [agents] think theyre so cool that we end up doing [a long] drone shot and you lose everybodys attention.

Drones can range in price from about $50 to $2,000 or more. Agents in the ~5,900-member RE TV Facebook group often recommend DJI drones, but youll have plenty of options if you decide to buy one. There are a number of real estate drone buying guides online like this one from DronesGlobe.com.

If youre planning to fly a drone to get footage for your listing videos, be aware of the Federal Aviation Administrations drone rules and registration requirements. The FAA has also partnered with a couple industry organizations on an education campaign called Know Before You Fly, which explains how to fly drones safely. And speaking of safety, the Insurance Information Institute warns that commercial drone use isnt covered by personal insurance policies, so you should contact your insurance provider to see what coverage is needed. Accidents can happen, especially if youre new to flying drones.

8.) Focus on building your audience and giving them value.

Your immediate goal with listing videos is to sell homes, but theres an equally important long-term goal: building an audience of viewers that will see and engage with you and your videos in the future.

Macy brings up a hypothetical scenario where two agents are competing to sell a home.

One of them has an audience on social media that knows, likes, trusts and follows them. The other agent doesnt. In that situation, Macy says the first agent can make a listing video thats not as good, but that video is going to do better than the video from the agent that doesnt have an audience. In other words, you can make the best listing videos in your market, but what good is it if you dont have an audience to watch it?

Snaadt says a great listing video is about connecting with viewers. Hes seen real estate agents hire a video team with the specific hope that the listing video would go viral. If all youre trying to do is create a video to go viral, you dont understand the point about content marketing. Its about connecting with someone who wants to use your services.

Macy agrees. You have to lead with adding value to your audience to grow an audience, he says. You want to be the TV show, not the advertisement.

9.) Start making videos and keep making videos. Dont give up.

YouTube is littered with inactive real estate agent accounts. Many agents try it out, post a few listing videos, then give up when the videos only earn 10-15 views.

Thats a mistake. Listing videos, like most marketing that agents do, are a long-term play.

You have to continue to create video and build an audience for you to actually see the value in it, Macy says. Because if youre just making a listing video every other week, youre not going to see the value. The only way you get better at doing video is to do more video.

Apple faces more bad news as new iPhone designs emerge

Apple has better months. It has been acknowledged that iPhone 11 owners need to undergo a secret location check and found two major flaws in their latest iOS 13.3 update, and were caught in a sensational smartphone tracking scandal last week. Now the first iPhone 12 designs have leaked, and you may not Like to see your own products.

In a new piece of news, the popular Japanese website Macotakara (the most famous website is revealing that Apple will remove the headphone jack with the iPhone 7), has obtained the first 3D printed model of the 2020 iPhone 12 Pro Max it knows. It seems that Apple will stick to the core design of the fourth generation iPhone X.

Not only that, the appearance design of the iPhone 12 Pro Max prototype is also the same (even to say it is unacceptable), and even the size has hardly changed. Macotakara reports that it is still a 6.5-inch model (previous leaks indicate a larger display), but the dimensions are actually the same:

The most obvious topic is the reduction in thickness. To accommodate larger batteries, the range of the iPhone 11 has increased. This move is very welcome. In contrast, since the iPhone 6 Plus, Apple hasn't made phones as lightweight as this new model. With the advent of 5G, this is a bit worrying.

If you look closely, you will notice that the model shrinks the curve of its predecessor, giving it a larger angled edge similar to the iPhone 4. This is a widely leaked change, and given that iPhone 4 is the most popular design, the change should prove popular.

There are two small changes. Macotakara reports that the volume and mute switches "reduced the size of each button by half ... and the SIM card slot seemed to be lowered by one slot."

What about a white surface? I know this is just the output color of a 3D printer, which can make the design easier to see.

However, Macotakara found an unrecognized change. On the left side of the model, "seems to be a mysterious connector ... a magnetic connector similar in shape to the iPad Pro (11-inch) and iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation)."

There is a theory that this might be the Apple Pencil connector and charger, although this seems to be a very impractical and unsafe way to carry it. So far, this remains a mystery.

A Review Of An Apple iPhone XS Review : Two Steps Forword, And One Step Back

The iPhone XS doesn't break the mold like the iPhone X, its battery life is shorter, but its camera, design and performance are at the leading edge.

The iPhone XS is not the only full-screen iPhone this year, but with its large screen and compact body, can it still buy an iPhone?

To say that the iPhone XS looks exactly the same as the iPhone X, it's a bit understated. In addition to a new pair of antennas and asymmetrical holes at the bottom, the phone is still the same metal and glass sandwich. Unless you buy a new gold.

Fortunately, this generation is not a bad thing, because it retains everything that the iPhone X did so well last year. This includes squeezing the big screen into a compact body, a luxurious feel and a first-class new design, abandoning the home button.

The 5.8-inch OLED screen is one of the best screens ever for smartphones, allowing you to watch movies and TV shows while commuting. The speakers are now loud, but this time there is still no headphone jack and no flash to 3.5mm adapter.

Weighing 177 grams, the iPhone XS weighs 3 grams more than the phone it replaces, 3 grams lighter than the Huawei P20 Pro and 14 grams more than the Samsung Galaxy S9. It is thinner than most of the 7.7mm thick. All of this says it's easy to carry pockets and handles with one or two hands.

The iPhone XS has the same internal structure as its larger brother XS Max and is not surprisingly identical. With the six-core A12 Bionic, this phone is responsive and fluent and may require more original power than most people until some magical new app appears to take advantage of it.

Game performance is also excellent, and the improved AI processor accelerates the AR experience and other machine learning systems.

Unfortunately, like the iPhone XS Max, the iPhone XS marks a step back in Apple's battery life. The iPhone X lasted 30 hours between charges, while the iPhone XS only scratched within 24 hours.

This means that if I remove it from the charger at 7 am the first day, it will only sound an alarm at 7 am the next morning without plugging in, which means you definitely need to charge at least once a day. On a heavy day, when I go to bed, it will fall to the ground.

This is using it as my primary device to send and receive hundreds of emails, messages and push notifications, listen to five hours of music on a Bluetooth headset, watch an hour of Netflix, and shoot about 10 photos a day.

The all-day battery is the lowest acceptable battery in 2018, and competitors can continue to nearly double.

While there are many factors that can affect battery life, it's worth noting that iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are heavily affected by cellular network congestion, such as those encountered by commuter trains and packing stations, rather than competitors.

Both phones have a higher bounce rate between Edge, 3G and 4G than iPhone X, Google's Pixel 2 XL and another. Even with a full 4G signal, the iPhone has difficulty reducing data and when competitors are still trying to load the site. Become hotter and email, albeit very slow.

iPhone XS runs iOS 12 out of the box, which is an improvement over iOS 11 last year, not a massive reorganization. Camera

The iPhone XS has the same camera system as the XS Max - with two 12-megapixel cameras on the back, one with a wide-angle lens and the other with a 2x telephoto lens.

This year's new feature is better detail capture, especially when viewing images at full resolution, as well as better low light performance. However, Apple's improved "smart HDR" feature is the most eye-catching, making images with extreme contrast, such as images that enter the sun, more practical.

The portrait mode has also been improved, and it is now interesting to be able to adjust the level of background blur after capture.

Self-timer cameras are great, but they are not the best choice for storing skin details on the market. Some people complain that it makes the skin smooth and makes them look orange, but this is not what I saw in the photo.

Opinion

• The camera block protrudes from the back so that it will shake when used on the desktop

• You can swipe on the gesture bar to jump to the previously used app

• You need a USB-C to Lightning cable to quickly charge your phone, but the box does not contain anything or a compatible charger.

• iPhone XS waterproof reaches IP68 standard, higher than last year's iPhone

• Wireless charging is great, but the iPhone heats up a lot when charging, more than a competitor's phone

• This iPhone XS, purchased from Apple's online store, charges well when turning the screen on or off.

Price

The iPhone XS is available in black, silver or gold with a storage capacity of £999 for 64GB, £1,149 for 256GB and £1,349 for 512GB.

The 6.1-inch iPhone XR will be released in October for £64 and is priced at £64.

Verdict

iPhone X provides a new standard for the iPhone. This is a huge improvement for Apple and is ahead of many competitors in smartphone design and functionality.

The iPhone XS maintains forward-thinking design and functionality, is full-featured, has a significantly better camera, and is still the best mobile phone on the market to balance screen size and usability.

But it is certainly not perfect, battery life is weaker than last year, and the price is still astounding. With the cheaper 6.1-inch in the iPhone XR coming soon, it might be worth waiting to see what it looks like before selling for £999, but the iPhone XS is still great.

A simple, no-nonsense calculator for iPhone and iPad, called Calzy 3, is the first ever app from India to be recognised at the Apple Design Awards, the annual event held at the sidelines of Apple’s developers conference. The ADA, as they are often called, recognise apps that make innovative use of technologies across Apple’s platforms.

Calzy 3 offers a clean user interface but doesn’t skimp on any major features – it offers dark/ light modes; has an advanced mode for scientific calculations that’s hidden by default but can be easily summed up; and a cleverly implemented memory functionality. Calzy 3 is an app that not many iOS users know about, but it made the shortlist of the 10 apps that Apple recognised at this year’s ADA.

Gadgets 360 caught up with Calzy 3 developer Raja Vijayaraman at WWDC 2018 in San Jose to get some insights around his app development journey thus far.

“This is my first time at WWDC and in the US,” says Vijayaraman. “I didn’t know what was going on and that I was winning the award, it was a complete surprise! I thought the WWDC invite was a regular meeting considering I am an app developer.”

Vijayaraman, an independent app developer from Chennai, is passionate about developing apps for Apple devices. “I’m from the visual effects background, so I learnt the programming language with my first app (Pick) back in 2010,” he says, explaining how he got started on his journey. “From VFX industry, I jumped into this [app development]. During my first stint working on a couple of movies, I got my first iPhone – the iPhone 3GS. It was a huge jump from Nokia, and I went online to see how these apps are made. I signed up for the $99 Apple developer program and started learning how to code and design apps.”

“In 2014, we launched the app, but only recently I released a redesigned version with Swift language. This is version 3 of the app,” he says, emphasising how Calzy 3 is the app’s biggest upgrade and the reason he ranked among the developers with the best-designed apps.

The app has its own take on the “Memory +” functionality that most calculators implement because Vijayaraman didn’t want to go down the traditional route.

“I used to get a lot of requests asking for the memory functionality,” he explains. “I [initially] didn’t want to implement that because I saw Calzy as a day-to-day calculator app. I have never used memory features in my own experience. But, when iOS 11 came about, I saw the possibilities and released my take on the feature,” The feature can be used to simply drag and drop results to the top of the app and save them for future use.

Simplicity is Vijayaraman’s key focus for Calzy. “I’m happy with the current state of the app. However, users have requested a graphing feature. While I want this to be a regular calculator app, if I find a way to implement it in a simpler and cleaner way, I will.”

What is a bit more unlikely is the release of an Android version of Calzy anytime soon. “I have been using iPhone for a long time and I’m used to that design language,” Vijayaraman says. “I’m a hardcore iPhone user and I don’t know much about Android app development.”

One of the best features that Calzy 3 offers is keyboard customisation. Jumping into Keyboard Layout via the Settings lets users drag and drop all the keys on the calculator and rearrange them as per their preferences. This involves moving around numbers, functions, as well as adjusting their text size.

Calzy 3 has a neat UI that is high on functionality

The app’s iMessage integration is also pretty neat. “Imagine you are having a conversation with your friends in iMessage, and are planning a trip. You don’t have to close the conversation and go to the calculator app,” Vijayaraman explains. “You can calculate everything right from the Calzy 3 iMessage extension. You can also send the result with different labels.”

Another highlight of the calculator app is how every advanced feature is hidden by default and is accessible via things like 3D Touch. The developer states that you can easily switch between calculator modes without the hassle of shifting to landscape mode.

There’s also a nifty tax calculation shortcut on the app that Vijayaraman says was implemented after GST (Goods and Services Tax) became the buzzword in the country. Apart from that, Calzy 3 offers a privacy mode that can help users protect their bookmarked results using Face ID and Touch ID, and the implementation is commendable. Calzy 3 is available on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and with Apple announcing an easy way to port iOS apps to the Mac will be available to third-party developers from next year, you can be sure Calzy will be on the Mac as well.

However, pricing is an issue that plagues the developer’s growth, though Vijayaraman says he is happy with the what the app makes on the App Store. Calzy 3, like other apps from WapleStuff, has a price tag of Rs. 159 on the Indian App Store ($1.99 in the US), which is a hindrance for a market that loves to devour free apps. “My users are mostly from US, China, and European countries. India is not on top of the list,” says Vijayaraman, though admits he’s not spent much effort marketing the app.

“I just design, develop, and publish the app, I don’t focus enough on marketing or reaching out to the press,” he says. Apple’s app accelerator, which started in Bengaluru last year might be able to help change that with plans now to help developers market the app, in addition to development.

Hopefully the recognition that the Apple Design Award brings will be enough to make Calzy even more popular, but that’s not the only perk of being an ADA winner. All 10 winners from this year will receive an iMac Pro, a 15-inch MacBook Pro, a 256GB iPhone X, an Apple Watch Series 3, and a pair of AirPods – basically, the flagship model of every hardware product that Apple sells. Hopefully, customs clearance is not an issue when Raja Vijayaraman returns back to India after a wondrous WWDC for him and his country.

Arplis - News: How to Make Listing Videos That Charm Buyers and Compel Sellers to Hire You

Video is no longer the next thing; its the now thing, Macy says. If youre not doing it for your listings, youre doing yourself and your clients a disservice.

The good news is that its never too late to start making videos for your listings. Here are nine steps to make listing videos that will both charm homebuyers and compel sellers to hire you.

1.) Your first decision: hire a videographer or do it yourself?

Not sure how or where to find a videographer? Try these ideas:

Ask other agents for recommendations

Reach out to eager students in the film/video department at your local college or university

Search web sites like Upwork.com, Thumbtack.com and Freelancer.com

If those sites dont have enough choices in your area, check wedding website TheKnot.com many video pros advertise themselves primarily to brides and grooms

A simple, inexpensive gear list for the do-it-yourself real estate agent might include:

Camera: your smartphone, especially if its the latest model

Microphone: Pop voice lavalier microphone (currently $13)

Tripod: UBeesize 5-foot tripod with smartphone mount (currently $35)

Lighting: not needed, use natural light (more on this below)

Editing software: iMovie (included with Apple devices) or Final Cut Pro X (Mac/$300), Adobe Premiere (Mac & Windows/$21 per month), DaVinci Resolve (Mac & Windows/free version or $300)

In one of his own videos, Macy jumped on a scooter and recorded his two-minute ride through San Antonio to the home he had listed for sale.

5.) Match the music to the mood of the home.

A country cabin listing would have different music than a cottage on the beach, says Snaadt.

6.) Dont worry about how long the video is; worry about how great it is.

Theres no such thing as a perfect length, as long as its entertaining and engaging, says Macy.

7.) Use a drone, but dont overdo it.

8.) Focus on building your audience and giving them value.

Macy brings up a hypothetical scenario where two agents are competing to sell a home.

Macy agrees. You have to lead with adding value to your audience to grow an audience, he says. You want to be the TV show, not the advertisement.

9.) Start making videos and keep making videos. Dont give up.

YouTube is littered with inactive real estate agent accounts. Many agents try it out, post a few listing videos, then give up when the videos only earn 10-15 views.

Thats a mistake. Listing videos, like most marketing that agents do, are a long-term play.
