Seedtime and Harvest
THE WORD SIROCCO

Topic: Seedtime and Harvest
Scripture Reading:
Genesis 1:1-12; Philippians 4:10-19
Main Text:
Genesis 8:22
22 While the earth remain eth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
God created the earth to receive and produce seed. The earth does not keep the seed it receives. Those who plant seed into the earth receive it back. During the creation of the earth, God commanded the earth to bring forth grass and herbs that yield seed (Genesis 1:11-12). The reason He said that was so that through the seed, He would continue to have grass and herbs without repeating the command of the earth to produce grass and herbs.
The seed of the grass and herbs took over the responsibility of ensuring that they replenished themselves through the seed. The law of seedtime and harvest has been in place since the creation. As surely as there is cold and heat, summer and winter and night and day, there is seedtime and harvest. It should be easy to exercise faith to receive after giving because we don’t struggle to believe that winter follows summer and day comes after night (Genesis 8:22).
Apart from seedtime and harvest there is what I term “seedplace” and “harvestplace”. “Seedplace” is where you sow your seed and “harvestplace” is where you harvest from your fruit. The “seedplace” may be different from the “harvestplace” because God is the ultimate giver of the harvest. For instance, you could sow a seed in Toronto, Canada and receive the harvest in Sydney, Australia because “the earth is the LORD’S and the fullness thereof” (Psalm 24:1).
Prayer:
Pray that you'll never lack seed in your seedtime.
