Fireworks Gallery, 17801 Pacific Hwy S, CD-6, Seattle, WA 98158
Tumblr media
Fireworks Gallery started as an art gallery in Seattle’s Pioneer Square. Today, Fireworks has multiple gift shops in Seattle, including two at SEATAC.
This is a larger than average gift store that has A TON of merchandise – including lots of jewelry, socks, candles, toys, notebooks, bags, ornaments, stickers, greeting cards, coasters, Seattle kitchen towels, lights, slippers, etc. So much to look at...I was impressed by the amount of Jellycat plushies and Squishables they carry. I didn’t know that Squishable made a plush Space Needle.
They had a lot of cute things.
4.5 out of 5 stars

Ryou Bakura for the character meme??? Or Atticus if Ryou's already in.
RYOUUU my funny little guy....
favorite thing about them: this kid simultaniously radiates the energies of the Most Boring Guy Alive and The Weirdest Dude Youve Ever Met and it's just fantastic. Guy who would collect stamps but also be on taxidermy forums for fun. Absolute dweeb who is just fucking sitting here while the worst things ever happen to him (because of his own piece of jewelry he refuses to get rid of.) he's so fuckin funny.
least favorite thing about them: i just wish there was MORE of him!!!! like the manga he has marginally more screentime but ryou's still a bit second (or third or fourth) fiddle when it comes to DM characters. Ryou needed a tag force route. I would love to walk around a psp game with him.
favorite line: sorry it's always gonna be "Check his pulse, Yugi!" dub lines of all time for me.
brOTP: uuuuu my KINGDOM for an AU or whatever where ryou and YB actually got to talk and interact more and be. well. not friends but guys who can barely stand each other but are forced to get along anyway. disgruntled brothers. I want them to have a Real Talk in the abandoned kmart bakura soul room. AUs where TKB has his own body and has to like. apologize to ryou for everything that shit would ROCK.
OTP: i actually dont really have one for ryou....i think he is simply going to marry some mildly bland guy named dwight from like seattle when hes 38 and he's going to be perfectly content with that. :^) actual ygo guys wise, heart and angst shipping are both really sweet....
nOTP: I Do Not Like Tendershipping Sorry lol.
random headcanon: aro gay guy with enough food intolerances and allergies to fund an entire small health food store. i think when he gets older he's going to ease comfortably into Any Pronouns genderwhatever. You Eccentric Lightly Goth Aunt.
unpopular opinion: people really cling to this "uwu little delicate whitehair softboy who is SOOOO depressed and sad ALL THE TIME" type read on him and it's. not very good lol. All things considered Ryou is a pretty chipper dude! He's not mopey and sad! And he managed to bounce back from being stabbed like. twice. Despite his circumstances he's a hardy guy.
song i associate with them: Hide and Seek by Bug Hunter such a ryou song my GOD. "the ephemeral friend".....waauuughh
favorite picture of them:
Tumblr media
ryou from this screenshot is still the cover of my pinterest board for him dfhghdfsg all time favs <3

SELEUSS - ETHEREAL MINT - MEDLIN MINT
BATCH 894
OUR ETHEREAL MINT - MEDLIN MINT EDITION
{bobbie} medlin mint
mGanache: This chocolate truffle is named after our good friend and neighbor { bobbie medlin }, who runs one of the most unique art boutiques in all of Seattle by the same name. The ganache is made with fresh organic cream, organic peppermint and our specially formulated 67% bitter-sweet organic chocolate. Just enough mint to usher in a breath of fresh air and soothe your soul!
m Truffle: The { medlin mint } chocolate ganache is typically enrobed in our 75%+ Moretta™ neutral dark chocolate and topped with a piece (or two) of candied fennel seed.
Pairing: Arbois wines, Saumur wines, Viognier, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon blanc, or contrast with your favorite Red (black) or Mint Teas.
INGREDIENTS: organic Chocolate 67% (organic cacao beans, organic Cocoa butter, organic cane sugar syrup, sunflower lecithin, all natural non-gmo vanilla), Organic Cream, Glucose syrup (derived from wheat), organic peppermint oil. Chocolate shell (cacao beans, cocoa butter, cane sugar, soya lecithin, vanilla). Candied fennel seeds (sugar, fennel seeds, menthol, carnauba wax).  [ caramel free ]
CONTAINS: Soya Lecithin, Milk, and mint.  This product is processed in a facility that contains milk, eggs, wheat, hazelnuts, almonds, peanuts, cashews and other nuts.
STORAGE: Please store chocolateS in Refrigerator at <39°F (do not freeze) along with accompanied silica gel desiccant pack in an airtight container or plastic bag to prevent moisture and the chocolates from absorbing other aromas that might be present in the refrigerator.  PREPARATION: For best results, please allow chocolates to equalize to room temperature of between 68-72°F (~20-22°C) for approximately 10-20 minutes; depending on ambient room temperature and in an airtight environment to prevent moisture condensation on the surface of the chocolate shell, then enjoy!
bobbie medlin: Part treasure box, part art gallery, the Bobbie Medlin store is a delight to visit and an experience for your curatorial nature. Unique jewelry, figurative sculpture, specially chosen antique engravings, rare african art, and contemporary paintings are among other surprises you’ll find. If you believe it’s all about the mix, you’ll be glad to have them on your list of favorite shops.   Washington Post, Thursday, January 10, 2008:

BAD PREMONITION TOUR ARCHIVE: CHICAGO / VANCOUVER / SEATTLE / PORTLAND Chicago was madness. The whole day was a classic tour shit show. We missed our flight from Toronto to Seattle that morning due to airport immigration chaos, and there were no other flights going to Chicago all day. We panicked around the airport trying to find our baggage and ended up waiting for 3 hours before *most* of it got back to us and then booked it to a different airport just in time to jump on their last flight. Bags were lost but we left without them and made it just in time for a quick soundcheck and then the show. As tends to happen though, at the end of those really crazy, stressful days, the shows tend to be some of the most magnetic..I think it's because they hold so much more weight and meaning once you've jumped through hoops to make it. It was such a charged energy in the venue that night and Chicago showed UP. It ended up being one of my fav shows of all. Hometown show in Vancouver was so nice :) It was a sleepy Tuesday and the energy was more mellow, but my family and friends were there which made it xtra special. I wore a soft green Collina Strada set and crimped my bangs. Sheldon, a super sweet fan who always comes to my Vancouver shows and makes me something (he makes really cool jewelry), brought me a hand-made belt that I adore. I got it just in time before going on stage and though it didn't work as a belt with the outfit, I wrapped it around my neck as a necklace <3 I love moments like this, when things just come together in a snap and then you're on stage.
Tumblr media
Seattle was hot and sweaty. I always love playing in the Pacific Northwest, it's just always a vibe and the drives are beautiful. It was another pUnK night - real basement party energy. I wore a dark grey Prisca Vera skirt and top and slicked my hair back in honor of how Seattle feels to me. There were some great thrift stores right around the venue and I got a few cute things, an Aaliyah queen of the damned grinder and some really bomb thai food. Thank u seattle <3
Portland was next. I played at Doug Fir Lounge which is a venue I love!! I had played there once before during my headline tour in 2017 - it's a really cool space. I remember that show in 2017 was the first time I smoked on stage ! someone had passed me a j from the audience and I hit it and has a real out of body experience hahh.. it was just one of those memories.. This current show was falling on 4/20 so...it felt respectful to repeat the whole experience. I mentioned this to the audience and during my encore I looked out and saw a big j making its way towards the stage, crowd surfing above people and to me <3 <3 <3 I wore a frankie's bikinis suit and a big giant pink bow on my butt.

Random photo dump for 2023...
Those outdoorsy and hotel pictures were taken on a planned trip to Portland, OR. It is everything you've thought about when the word "hipster" comes to mind. The majority of the food that I consumed was amazing: fresh, intentionally selected ingredients, so many food trucks and restaurants that were birthed from food truck conversions.
Seattle was weird to me. It IS weird. It also is suffering deeply from the struggles of the unhoused and temporarily displaced. But there is still beauty in her cracks. I have to separate my line of work from the city because she is so much bigger than my 12 hour shifts.
Portland is like this. Go and see it. Put it on your bucket list and budget for it.
Amarylis is a beautiful girl, and she has impending appointments to be made. She screams at me for attention and never says "no" in cat to affection from her parents. It's more like a "not right now" in cat, where she appears affronted that you'd so much as touch her and then sashays as she turns away from you and starts preening and grooming. Diva...
She's been a great source of comfort to me, though. Amarylis never fails to curl up at the foot of the bed while I go to sleep or just nuzzle my legs and sit beside me when I'm relaxing at home. She is the chillest of cats except for when it's close to the hours of 5am and 4/5pm, her feeding times, and then she becomes this feigning, wild-eyed, desperate, whiny little thing practically prostrating at your feet.
But other than that, she's wonderful. 10/10. Would clone another of her for sure!
That. Coffee. Bar.
I made that. 🥹😭
It's very Magnolia Home and Pinteresr-inspired. Did I nail the modern farmhouse look? Yes? I'm going to say I did. Emphatically. The bar was ordered off of Amazon and is really good quality. It took like 2 hours to install with my partner.
The knick knacks: mugs, coffee stirrers, canisters, and storage jars, and what have you are from Fred Meyer (local grocery store chain out here that's like this regional part of the country's answer to Wal-Mart. It literally has everything, even jewelry and engagement rings), Wal-Mart, Amazon Fresh (that cute pop of orange from that mug in the left corner? A free promotion giveaway and thank you gift from the associates at the Amazon Go in my apartment complex. I have two.), and Target.
In a few months, I will be visiting my parents' homeland of Jamaica. My home away from home. My other place. My Caribbean heritage. I am quietly excited and celebratory but also personally struggling so...
I'm peac-ing out for now. I'll lurk on here and probably won't post like this for another few months. Expect the occasional random reblog. Maybe I'll post vacation pics to Jamaica. Sans family. Just me and my boo.
But, before that, I have to deal with some personal shit: work stress, life stress, my stress...and all the effed up mess, and then I need to love on my man. He's been holding me down since day one and never ever stops. Of course, I support and cheerlead him 200 percent all day every day. That's Bae. I know what I offer and what my value is. He meets and matches that exponentially and without question or complaint. 10/10. Bitch, get you a cis- or Trans or nonbinary or asexual or whatever and however they want to be identified as- Grade A Patrick. Or I could just clone him.
Alright, ya'll, let me shut up cuz I know this shit isn't getting read to the very end.
Until next time, lovelies... ✌🏿
Xoxo💋

This week's Aesthetic Spotlight: Grunge
Tumblr media
Grunge historically has its roots in the 1990s hard rock scene of Seattle, Washington. It was a countercultural, anti-consumerism youth movement and musical genre that defined Generation X. Grunge fashion was made popular by bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden, and was meant to be timeless and quite casual.
Grunge is a darker, edgier style that is usually depicted these days with glitches, vinyl records, cigarettes, neon lights, and the color black (which has absolutely nothing to do with the original grunge).
Music
Tumblr media
Grunge started in 1985 with Green River's album Come on Down, but it did not become mainstream until the 1990s with Nirvana's Nevermind. Grunge was most popular from roughly 1991 to 1997 and eventually lost its anti-consumerist philosophy. It can be argued that grunge began to decline in 1994, after the tragic suicide of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, though the genre maintained popularity until about 1997 when Soundgarden broke up.
Some of our favorite bands include Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Stone, Temple Pilots, The Gits, Varuca Salt, & The Pixies. A majority of Grunge's visuals involve a large amount of dirty, grimy, weathered imagery.
These show a sort of hopelessness and disenchantment with modern society.
Visuals
Tumblr media
A lot of earth tones and pale colors are used to convey this sort of cultural depression often associated with Grunge.
You will often see the use of polaroid cameras and pictures, glitches, vinyl records, cigarettes, neon lights, and the color black.
Fashion
Tumblr media
Grunge fashion of the late 1980s and early-mid 1990s was often purchased out of thrift stores at the time. Some will argue it was done out of a rejection of the fashions of the time. It's generally agreed that it's because it was cheaper as, at the time, most grunge artists were dirt poor. But with the modern Grunge movement, the philosophical elements of the original Grunge movement were completely dropped in favor of just achieving the visual aesthetic of looking Grunge (although often paying far more exorbitant amounts of money compared to the original Grunge style icons, who almost exclusively shopped at Thrift Stores). Men often wore oversized t-shirts, flannel shirts (that would be tied off around the waist when it got too hot), ripped jeans, and combat boots. These were considered timeless looks and were generally durable and reliable clothing to wear.
Women tended to favor slip dresses, flannel shirts, ripped jeans, chokers, and the bell-bottoms/babydoll t-shirt was a popular combination as well.
Why we love Grunge
Tumblr media
Growing up in the 90s, we were lucky enough to have parents with a broad taste in music, fashion & art. So it's fair to say Grunge had an influence on our household.😉 Music, fashion, and shopping at thrift stores are the most significant contributors. 🎸 Music is a given. Music was always playing in our house growing up. If we weren't rocking out at home, we listened to road-trip jams and would go to concerts and festivals. When it comes to our personal style, bellbottoms, flares, and wide-legged and distressed jeans are some of our favorite bottoms to wear.👖 We own a small collection of band T-shirts(yes we actually listen to the bands we wear). Our favorite shoes to wear are high-top canvas sneakers, and you will rarely see us without a choker. As much as I love new and trendy things, you can find some really amazing things at thrift stores. And it's not just about fashion, it's the whole experience of exploring! Sure there is a lot of old junk in good condition, but then you find it. That amazingly awesome thing. And you know the instant you lay eyes on it, that you have to have it. That thing may be clothes or jewelry. Or it could be a piece of furniture, or maybe a book. And then there are times when you don't find anything. But that's the fun of shopping at thrift stores. You may have an idea of what you are looking for going in, but that may not end up being what you find.🛍️
