Modaozushi - Audio Drama Live
Season 2 Episode 8
Episode 8: All the events that accumulate in Nie Mingjue’s death, first we have the oath (actually the next day from episode 7!), then Jin Guangyao playing zither (he learns the Sound of Lucidity from Lan Xichen even though Nie Mingjue is against it), because of his developing cultivation Nie Mingjue grows more and more fierce, so Jin Guangyao plays the Sound of Lucidity, JGY falling down the stairs again and Nie Mingjue’s death right before Nie Huaisang’s eyes, total playtime: 27:04 min.
0:00 - 6:59:
The Oath of brotherhood (in the end you can hear sounds like water dripping down, so i assume the oath is seald with blood?:-)), very serene bgm which changes into a battletheme-like one while the credits palying....
As the three sit together and Lan Xichen is playing the guqin (7-string-zither) you can here birds twittering in the background and everything seems harmonic and alright, even Nie Mingjue seems calm, Jin Guangyao is talking about his past and some slow, instrumental zither version with a melancholic flute (perhaps the unknown song in a slow version, sorry, i am not sure here) is playing as bgm while birds twittering endlessly...lol
Well, think about this: Jin Guangyao copies Lan Xichen’s zither style, then he uses a healing sound from the Lan to stir up Nie Mingjue’s rage- that’s not the difficult part, because of his cultivation he is in a weak state already, the diffculty is more to make the right dose until the qi-deviation happened and it looks like nothing but coincidence, how hard he must study to just kill in such a way...if he had those enegeries why not using them for something better??? For example system change, so that such discrimination can be abolished or something *wow-respect-but-isn’t-this-a-real-waste-of-talent-and-energy* ....BUT then the messenger is coming with the news that Xue Yang anihilated the Chang Clan...and wow, yes, i think Nie Mingjue is a little unfair here, because he insists that Xue Yang is Jin Guangyao’s responsibility, but hey can we be a little bit more realistic in here: the leader of the Jin Clan is not Jin Guangyao but Jin Guangshan, so Xue Yang is actually his responsibility, even if Jin Guangyao was the one who invited Xue Yang....in this point of time, Jin Guangyao has no secure position or something...but on the other hand we know that Jin Guangyao and the issue of taking responsibilty.....:-) beware of sarcasm.-).... and Jin Guangyao’s mistake is promising something that he couldn’t fullfill, so there is this circle again that Jin Guangyao always disappoints Nie Mingjue and so on...all the while birds are twittering in the background (no bgm is playing while they talk!) but then we can relax to the Sound of Lucidity the right way....:-)
Jin Guangyao is playing the zither for Nie Mingjue while he is complaining about Nie Huaisang - no bmg,. just birds twittering in the background :-)), there are always birds twittering....:-))) and here Jin Guangyao is playing sound of lucidity properly! Try to compare the versions, in the end you can clearly hear the version which leads to Nie Mingjue’s qi deviation...
7:00 - 13:19:
Back in Koi Tower: Like in the novel ( i think they are talking about the watch towers) Lan Xichen informs us that Nie Mingjue’s cultivation developed once more and because of that his anger issue will getting much more worse and then Nie Mingjue enters the room, pissed because Xue Yang is not dead....then we get the whole scene that leads to Jin Guangyao falling down the stairs again...
the bgm is so tragic...but sorry, i am not sorry, neither for Jin Guangyao, nor Nie Mingjue: Nie Mingjue is digging his own grave here, no doubt about it and he has anger issues not only because of his cultivation....but Jin Guangyao is a coward and chooses the wrong path that will end in his ironic and iconic death 13 years later....
Nie Mingjue reminds me in his arguements and in his forwardness of an old samurai: you must work hard and always expect death for yourself and that is the warrior’s proudness, you are not doing something in secret or scemeing, so if you die and put your life on the line then do it upright and open...if you are thinking that you are right then be prepared to bear the cosequences and that’s the opposite of Jin Guangyao....
Nie Mingjue said: “Then why don’t you sacrifice yourself? Are you better then the others, are you different from them?”
This is in my eyes very important: do you remember Xue Yang who is saing that one finger of his is more important then any other life in the world? Yeah...so as Jin Guangyao is answering Nie Mingjue with:
“Yes, i am different.” It’s the same arguement of Xue Yang to justify his kliings....
Just a thought about total different mind sets and something like that....:-))
13:20 - 17:37:
Nie Mingjue trains Nie Huaisang and then the scene how he is destroying Nie Huaisang’s books and treausres....:-((((, but strangely enough....the interactions between the Nie Brothers are just short, rare or even hearsay, but you always get the feeling that both are rather found of each other....perhaps it’s just me, but even in the novel i read Nie Huaisang like that he loves his older brother a lot, or more he is respecting and loving him a lot, but the little poison here is the way QingheNie cultivates? And someone like Nie Huaisang in such a clan is like - wow little one, are you sure you are in the right club? - the old problem, if a son should take over the company of the dad, but the son doesn’t want to because he is not interested??? Such a feeling i have...rather modern? And then i think Nie Mingjue is jealous of Jin Guangyao who spoils Nie Huaisang and seems to be too understanding....:-))*smirk* There are way too much people who are actually fond of eacht other but can’t.....
The sword sounds as they train together (wow!), are coming really from all directions. They are just two people but the swords sounds are so good you can hear the sabers flying and clashing....o and cicades are in the backgorund (so we are in summer now) and then Nie Mingjue really looses it and wow the tragic bgm it really hurts and you can hear how shocked Nie Huaisang is, he clearly didn’t expect such a strong reaction from his brother and he clearly didn’t expect that Nie Mingjue really destroyes his treasures....and then he just reacts like any other shocked youth, he just runs away, more shocked and sad then really angry....(omg, my bea...please someone give him a hug!!! From now on he is totally alone:-((((((!! Please think about this...how he watches what his brother has become because of the path of the QingheNie cultivation - yes their cultivation is the”right” path of cultivation - sorry but the path theme is another one i could write an essay about...lol - , naturally he doesn’ t want that for himself....yeah, i think i would do anything to avoid something like that too) BUT
One thing: i don’t think that Nie Mingjue wants to hurt his brother for real...it was more of a warning for Jin Guangyao to not spoil Nie Huaisang so much in the end he is saying: “Everytime HE brings you new things i will destroy them, no matter how often.” And so i intepret this whole action as a warning more for Jin Guangyao....not for Nie Huaisang...*sighs*, yeah i know that it’s implied that Nie Huaisang doesn’t know about the saber spirit but believe me he is not that stupid...he has eyes and ears...it’s exactly why he doesn’t develope the saber techniques because he already knows!
And now the manipulated version of Sound of lucidity....
17:38 - 17:55:
Wei Wuxian is commenting in the backgrund on Jin Gaungyao and Nie Mingjue while sound of lucidity is playing and his intuition is here: that even they could smooth over their relationship that something seems/feels not right...but he cannot put his finger on it
17:56 - End:
After Sound of Lucidity ended we get the scene how Nie Mingjue listens to a dialogue between Jin Guangyao and Lan Xichen (at the QingheNie-Discussionconference and yes, there are birds twittering in the background:-))) and Wei Wuxian comments on Jin Guangyao and analyses his different behaviour in front of Lan Xichen and how Nie Mingjue falls into his killing rampage and dies because of the qi-deviation....
Wow the sounds, how all the voices echoes and then everyone sounds like Jin Guangyao and then the little moment where Nie Mingjue becomes clear because of Nie Huaisang’s voice you can hear him calling out.....omg, my heart is breaking...it’s such a little moment short before his end....and i’m. just nooooo...:-(((((( and the crescendo of the bgm.....ahhhh...the end,,,,ahhhhh...cliffhanger.....nooooooo
Ending: The unknown Song
So i hope you have a little bit fun while reading. I apologize if i made mistakes, because it’s rather late and i am pretty tired. And i am sorry for updating so slow, but my real life is happening and you know issues.....Thank you for following, tagging or asking/answering me! Have a nice weekend and take care! Until next time!

You 2.8: “Fear and Loathing in Beverly Hills” – And Hunter Wept
I’m obsessed with this show and I am definitely going to keep watching, but COME ON. As a Passions fan, I’m truly down for anything – a monkey who’s a nurse, a witch who controls a town through a caldron, simultaneous pregnancies that are not twins, an evil doll that comes to life – select any flavor of soap opera madness and I will shovel it into my gaping TV-holes as long as it adheres to the tone of the show. But a drug episode? Really? This is tonal chaos. Anyway, we pick up right where we left off, with Delilah trapped in a glass case of emotional torture. David Fincher calls again and when Delilah lies in order to gain Joe’s trust, she says they’ll go on a date soon, a lie that cuts deep. Joe does indeed act as though he’s going to free her – he purchases plane tickets, says his goodbyes, and sets up Delilah in time-release handcuffs (which are real, because fetish people) so she can let herself out after he’s on a plane. And then we hit the first in a series of clichés – he sets a timer for sixteen hours so he is literally fighting against the clock. It’s a little much, and it telegraphs the idea that he’s going to fail.
Love is looking crazy-eyed in her lemon palace, and her team of enabling friends give her permission to do what she really wants, which is obviously to get Joe back. Dottie, egged on by her shaman, makes an unexpected appearance, and the two share a dysfunctional dinner. Love brings up the au pair, and Dottie hisses that she “did what she had to do.” Was Dottie involved in the murder, or just the cover-up? Love drunkenly storms out. When Love can’t handle her liquor, Dottie swoops in to take advantage of this moment of vulnerability.
We hit the second cliché when Forty and Joe are kidnapped. It felt so out of the blue that it totally took me out of the story. In fact, Joe even says that if this were a movie, he wouldn’t believe it. Things feel a little more planted in the world of the story once it becomes clear that Forty had planned it. Forty needs Joe’s help writing his screenplay and they will remain hotel room hostages of gun-toting Russians until they finish. I guess Joe is getting a taste of his own medicine, which hearkens back the first episode’s promise of karmic retribution. Forty’s back on the ‘booch, but this time he’s mixing it with Dexedrine. Not a great sign, because last time he was drinking kombucha he went hog-wild at Hendy’s. He spirals very quickly after Ellie’s honest notes and he jumps out the window into a dumpster, then absconds to a bar. Joe is obligated to follow him, and the clock keeps ticking. Joe finds Forty seated behind a sea of empty shot glasses, swimming in the blues. Apparently Forty is still texting Candace, which would lead a normal viewer to believe that she is alive and well. Lucky for you, I don’t trust anything or anyone, so I feel certain that Love is necro-texting from Candace’s phone. Fueled by tequila, Forty throws a drunken grenade into a nearby couple’s wedding reception by reenacting a watered-down Indecent Proposal – he kisses the bride in exchange for ten grand in cash. At his wits end, Joe attempts to leave the bar with or without Forty, but Forty grabs his arm and pens “8:52” in Sharpie. You see, that’s the time Joe started drinking the seltzer Forty dosed with four hits of acid. There it is, the third cliché. Literally anything is plausible now, which feels very, very cheap. Poor Joe has never taken LSD before, so he is about to have his ass handed to him. He is, to say the least, displeased. But then he bumps into Love – she “put two and two together,” aka stalked him or had him followed, and chose to have dinner in the same hotel where Joe and Forty were writing – when he starts tripping HARD.
Joe’s trip is a kaleidoscope of flashbacks about his childhood and imagined conversations with his mother. She provokes him, coddling his worst impulses. Forty uses the trip to get inside Beck’s head, which sends Joe spiraling. Forty narrowly escapes being choked to death by kneeing Joe in the balls during a roleplay gone wrong. Joe is freaking the fuck out, and rightfully so. Four hits of acid is a stupidly high dose for anyone, let alone a newbie. Forty allows him to use the safe word (I don’t know if this is a cliché, but it’s a really crazy plot coupon) to get moon juice (is this some LA thing I don’t know about, or is it a fictional Anavrin thing?) and snacks. Forty can’t come, because he’s conveniently peaking. Joe blacks out and finds himself standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom. Did he ever leave? There’s blood on his hands. He washes them, then all the blood disappears. Was it ever there? When he returns to the living room, Forty’s drinking moon juice among a gaggle of grocery bags. He confirms that Joe definitely left and brought this stuff back, but he doesn’t know how he got there or how long he was gone. Weird, since it seems like Joe would not go back to that room on his own. Dmitri (Adi Spektor), the Russian bodyguard, affirms that Joe came back with clean hands. Joe hears Love’s ringtone in Dmitri’s pocket, and he freaks out until Forty bribes Dmitri with cash for the phone. This phone call is a fishy dish. Love claims they can figure out whatever he’s running from together. Why does she know he’s running from something? Running implies guilt. After what Candace told her, why wouldn’t she want to stay far, far away? Joe says the magic words that Milo never would have said – they can take Forty with them on their escape tour. Maybe this is something James never would have agreed to? After another mommy-induced blood cry, Joe seeks solace in Forty, who has actually cracked his story. The beat board is organized and ready to go. The key was in figuring out who the real killer is, and it’s not Dr. Nicky. According to Forty, it can only be Beck’s unnamed ex-boyfriend, because he’s the one who truly loved her. Just as Joe is about to slash Forty’s throat, Forty reveals that he can empathize. His au pair didn’t kill herself – Forty killed her in a jealous rage. He claims to have blacked out, then awakened to see himself standing over her corpse. Their parents made it look like a suicide. So, Love’s weirdness around that story could have been the simple fact of lying about it. But the detail of Forty blacking out has me doubting… Maybe he didn’t kill her. But maybe he did. We’ll see. Either way, Joe is immensely comforted by this story and in turn, he comforts Forty. The two seem solidly bonded by this experience.
The next morning, Forty is MIA. Joe has exactly one hour and twenty minutes to resolve his situation with Delilah. The plan is to negotiate with Delilah so he can live happily ever after with Love. He makes it to the storage unit with seconds to spare. There’s just one problem – Delilah’s dead. Did Joe kill her? I mean, it would make sense. He’s the only one who knows where she is. Except she’s lying in an ocean of blood, and his clothes are totally clean. There is no way someone who is peaking on four hits of acid could have gotten it together to murder someone, then either change into an identical outfit or wash the one he had on. Not possible. And that both Forty and Joe killed someone in a blackout is weird – I’m willing to bet that either it’s true in both cases or false in both cases. But if Love’s detective has been following Joe this whole time, as I suspect, a garden of possibilities blooms. See You next time!
