Watching Scrapped Princess and I am forced to do a double take every time someone talks about the Giat Empire.

This was a fun one to finally finish. It was actually a pretty big deal in anime circles when it came out ~20 years ago. Scrapped Princess, to borrow from the site I got the picture from it's something that feels very modern. Fantasy world that sometimes gets weirdly sci-fi, story about the trio here. Blondie Pacifica is the prophesied princess who will destroy the world when she matures, the other two are adoptive siblings sworn to protecc. Daww. They meet people on the way, Pacifica is an annoying brat but so charming they attract friends willing to help...

But while all that feels modern it's still something that came out not too far past Utena. So it gets pretty damn weird at the end and brings out at least an attempt at a deeper point. I remember really liking it as a teen, but being honest it just kinda felt like another medieval fantasy light novel adaptation these days. Worth a shot if you really like sibling bonds and that type of setting. Not too long. And you get the bonus of Mr. Soupy, the silly mascot character costume one guy gets weirdly obsessed with. That's my favorite part tbh.

Some of Scrapped Princess's plot reminds me a lot of David Weber's Safehold series.
