Criminal Case Inkember 2024
Part 2 : Day 11 to 17
After Inktober 2024, let's get to Criminal Case Inkember, held by @inkembercriminalcase on Instagram ! This time, we have the choice between 2 characters for each Prompt, which I find amazing because this could develop your creativity even more ! You can even do it with both characters, or even others !
Here is the Prompt List :
Tumblr media
RULES ! (I gave it to myself to add more "punch" and "difficulty", just like I did with Inktober, but less rules because it is already centralized into one Fandom) :
No duplicates of characters ! If a character is drawn in a Prompt, I cannot draw this character ever again, even if it's somewhat fitting for the theme (considering the amount of characters in these games, it should not be difficult).
"15" Classic Drawings, just like Inktober.
15 Minimalist Drawings, just like Inktober as well.
Switching between Classic and Minimalist : For example, if Day 1 is Minimalist, Day 2 will be Classic, and so on.
Note : 2 days of this Inkember will unfortunately be scrapped because of the Eternals Posters Series. Therefore Day 6 and 20 will be scrapped...Unfortunately...(Which also means that 2 Classic Drawings will be scrapped, and the order was adapted to Eternals to somehow fit with it).

Master post (& fics I’m planning to write)
Ladies and Gentlemen: My take on Adrien having his own antagonist like Marinette has Lila and Chloe. A new transfer students makes an enemy of the entire class, but Adrien seems to be his main target.
Part 1 Part 2 Headcannons
Status: Completed (maybe)
Let Her Eat Cake: A one shot in which Lila is exposed as Hawkmoth’s ally, which opens up questions about Francois DuPont. In other words, Bustier is accused of being Mayura.
Read Here
Status: Completed
Lila’s Reflection: A one shot in which Lila has a twin sister who she feels inferior against. Includes Lilanette, Male Marinette, and Lila angst.
Read Here
Status: Completed
Marion Dupain-Cheng: Ice Cold: So we know the umbrella scene where Adrien basically pulls his “sad boy” card to make Marinette feel bad for him? Realistically, she shouldn’t have fallen in love with him just like that. I think she should have been wary of him because of his association with Chloe or outright hate him after he scolded her for being happy that Chloe was leaving. Or in ’Bubbler’ when all he cared about was having a party and not that adults we’re literally being launched into the sky. Or in ‘Despair Bear’ after a day of forced niceties he laughed when Chloe insulted Mylene’s macaroons. Long story short, Marinette shouldn’t have tolerated Adrien for as long as she did much less have a crush on him. If she did, it should’ve been obliterated by now. (This is a Drabble)
Read Here
Status: Completed
A Beetle’s Blossom: The members of the Justice League have seen many things. The deaths and resurrection of some of their comrades, alien doomsdays, off planet missions, and the literal destruction of the world. But the boy who *strongly* resembles Bruce in more ways than just his appearance has them stumped, especially Bruce himself.
On AO3
Status: On going
Fics That Are Coming Soon
The Most Hated Girl in Paris: An AU where instead of getting off Scott free, Chloe is legally punished for the Train Incident and has to deal with the fact that’s she’s Paris’ most hated girl. She must decide if she wants to continue living this way or if she’s going to claw her way to redemption. Long term project.
Tumblr Concept
Status: Not started
Not So Miraculous After all: Tired of citizens justifying their reckless behavior with the Miraculous Cure, Ladybug stops using it, making sure that consequences get left behind.
Status: Not Started
The Fall of A Queen (C. Bourgeois): An Au where Andre isn’t re-elected as Mayor. This changes everything. Long term project.
Status: Not Started
Cuisine Paradise: Seeing as both their parents work in the food industry, Alya and Marinette decide to start a YouTube channel together to share their recipes; Marinette’s pastries and Alya’s dinner recipes. It all in good fun and they accidentally become famous. Long term project.
Status: Not Started
New Boy In Town (Remy Gasteau): The son of the Prime Minister transfers to Francois DuPont and takes an interest in Marinette. Extremely long term project.
Based on an ask I submitted to @mcheang
Status: Not Started
Civil War (Paris Edition): No matter how hard Lila tries, the class refuses to turn against Marinette, believing that Lila was just confused and there was a misunderstanding. In an attempt to get the girls to help her with Adrien, she insists that Marinette would go great with Luka. It was a brilliant plan— until war breaks out over the class. Lukanette vs Adrienette. Short term project.
Status: Not Started
Round the World Trip: After winning a series of contests, essay challenges, and competitions, Marion unintentionally earned his class a fully paid global trip over summer vacation. Includes Male Marinette and shenanigans. Mid-length project.
Status: Not Started
Damian’s Secret Brother: After ruining any chance at a brotherly relationship with Tim after his murder attempts, Damian Wayne is determined to prove that he wasn’t just a brutish assassin. The discovery of his newest biological brother provided him with the opportunity to show everyone that he could be civil with new family members. But he didn’t think he would get attached to the friendly baker’s boy who had ambitions to be a fashion designer. Male Marinette and bio-dad Bruce Wayne. Mid-length project.

WITCHES: a new collection of drawings and portraits by original riot grrrl, filmmaker, and queercore zine queen, G.B. Jones. Featuring essays by Caroline Azar, Paul P., Leafshimmer, Jenna Danchuk, Blake Baron Ray, and Scott Treleaven – each exploring the history and heresy of witchcraft.
"… it has become easier to imagine the end of the world than it is to imagine a different way of living in it. This is where the witch comes in. The question Jones’ drawings pose isn’t so much why witches are relevant now, as much as why they’ve never receded from humanity’s imagination. They live without recourse to orthodox beliefs; they exist free of nations and marketplaces; without sexual, gender, or age norms; in harmony with, and without fear of, the natural world. Constituting an incredible example of survival, in both their fictional and real incarnations, the witch’s persistence hinges on the radical simplicity of the threat they represent: a thriving deviant." – excerpt from What Witches Do by S. Treleaven

Help support Gosling! I see lots of horse memes tumbling around, and if some of equestrian tumblr and equestrian peanut gallery tumblr (affectionate) can give her a hand, or at least pass it into other horse spheres of the internet, I'd appreciate it.
There are no graphic images are in this gofundme, just tubing and fluid swelling. ->
Gosling was born June 19th, 2023, a month earlier than she should've been. She was lively but unable to stand, with no suckling reflex. She had a small seroma on her chest, an umbilical hernia, and her legs were contracted. Though two vets came and a feeding tube was placed in her nose to give her colostrum, within hours she was dehydrated and weak. She was rushed to the Marian Dupont-Scott Equine Hospital in Leesburg, Virginia. Being premature, her digestive system couldn’t handle the colostrum and she developed pneumonia. She was kept for a week on IV antibiotics, tube fed, helped to stand, and taught how to nurse. When she came home, she could (with help) stand for a few hours a day and gradually grew more lively, but continued to have high fevers and required antibiotics three times a day. The seroma on her chest continued to grow, until there was concern it might split her skin. A homemade compression vest was made, antibiotics were switched multiple times, and blood was repeatedly drawn, but the seroma never shrank and no clear cause was discovered. At six weeks old, Gosling and her mother returned to the hospital to determine what to do about the seroma, since the usual treatments of compression and time were not effective. The doctors decided that in this case, the best course of action was to put off the umbilical hernia surgery, and lance and drain the seroma. On August 9th, 2.25 litres of fluid was drained from Gosling’s chest. The first week of care for Gosling’s life at the hospital cost 15,000 dollars. Veterinary care at home has cost almost 5,000 dollars since. We have not yet been given the bill for Gosling’s second stay at the hospital (where she remains as of this writing.) The financial burden is tremendous. Please help us care for Gosling through this difficult start. Information: Gosling is a purebred Cleveland bay filly. Cleveland Bays are a critically endangered breed of horse with approximately 1,000 purebreds in the world. Only about 15 foals are born each year, not enough to maintain current numbers. Because of this, fillies are incredibly precious to the future of the breed.

Criminal Case Rarepair Week Day 7: Bonding
Aka, two old grandpas bonding with their adoptive grandchildren.
Read it on AO3: Surprise Babysitting - Turtle_The_Bean - Criminal Case (Video Game) [Archive of Our Own]
“What’s on the agenda today, dear?” Armand Dupont asked, sipping his tea as his boyfriend, Rupert Winchester, walked into the kitchen.
“Well, you’ll be happy to know that both Amir and Jesper are returning to work today. Therefore, I have to look after Harpreet today.” Rupert replied, filling his mug with coffee and rubbing his nose bridge.
“Well, I wish you luck with that. If you need me, you may find me in my library.”
“Thank you for your help.”
“You’re-“ Just as Dupont was about to finish his sentence, a loud crash was heard from the hallway.
“DUPONT!” Dupont’s former coworker, Elliot Clayton, frantically burst through their front door with his daughter, Michelle Clayton-Scott, in tow, “Sorry for interrupting, but Amaya’s having another breakdown. Benjamin’s trying to calm her down right now, but I think we might have to take her to the hospital. Can you watch Michelle?”
“Of course.” Armand smiled, pretending as though he wasn’t just making fun of his boyfriend for taking care of a baby.
“Thank you so much. I promise I’ll make it up to you.”
The door closed, and Rupert immediately burst out laughing. Armand gave him the side-eye but knew full well that it was just karma at this point.
Armand got up off his chair and made his way over to the toddler who was standing in his hallway, slightly confused as to what exactly was going on.
“Good morning, Little Michelle.” He smiled, trying to soothe any worries she may have had.
“GRANDPA!” Michelle's face lit up as soon as she realised it was him, giving him a big hug.
“Oh, careful, careful. You know you little ones can be a bit rough on my old bones.”
“Grandpa!” Michelle ran into Dupont’s library, eventually returning with a book, “Book!”
“You want me to read to you?”
“Yeah!”
“Alright, but how about we wait a little while? We have someone else joining us later.”
“Who?”
“Well, it’s a baby. More specifically, Grandpa Rupert’s grandchild, Harpreet.”
Michelle stood for a few minutes, attempting to pronounce the baby’s name herself, but ultimately gave up and stomped away. Armand gave a little smile. He could tell which father she got her stubbornness from.
He caught up with the toddler as she was sitting on the couch, looking up at Rupert with the occasional glance down at the oxygen supply attached to his nasal cannula. He knew the young child must be curious, but he found history easier to explain compared to biology.
After about five or so minutes of awkward staring while Dupont finished his tea, Rupert got up to answer a knock at the door, taking the oxygen supply with him. Michelle got off her seat, making Armand assume she would be following Rupert, and walked over to him, tugging at his shirt.
“Hm?” He answered, putting his mug in the sink.
“Why Grandpa Rupert have a box?” The toddler enquired, tilting her head like a confused puppy.
“Oh, it’s because he needs oxygen.”
“What oxygen?”
“It’s the thing we have to breathe in to keep us alive. Grandpa Rupert can’t take it in properly, so he needs a little extra help.”
“Wow,” Michelle replied, seemingly losing interest, as she quickly saw Rupert with the baby and immediately rushed over to see it.
Rupert and Armand both watched as the toddler awkwardly climbed up onto the couch, receiving a little bit of assistance from Armand. She then crawled over a little bit to peek at the baby over Rupert’s arms. Once she was up there, Armand had a little clearing to sit himself down, taking the book Michelle had picked out to read while doing so. As the toddler noticed, she began to turn her attention away from the baby and towards the book being read to her.
“Now, let’s see what you picked out for us today,” Armand had a look at the cover of the book, “Ah, the Stuart Period. I see you’ve taken an interest in local history. A fine choice, I must say.”
The toddler simply smiled in return before climbing up to peek at the book as her adoptive grandfather read it aloud to her.
However, this peaceful time would be cut short as the quiet reading was interrupted by Harpreet crying.
“Oh, my apologies. I was warned that her diaper had only been changed once today.” Rupert explained, leaving the room with the baby in tow.
Armand chuckled and nudged Michelle, “I’m glad your fathers never got me to change your diaper when you were a baby.”
“Why?” She inquired.
“Well, one of your fathers works from home, so he didn’t really need me to babysit you.”
“Oh. Is that why you babysit me now?”
“N-no, dear. It’s just that you’re a bit too big to go places like the hospital now. Your fathers are afraid going there might affect you for the rest of your life.”
“Why?”
“Because I know at least one of your dads is very protective of you.”
“Why?”
“He doesn’t want you to be affected by your childhood in the same way he was.”
“Why?”
Armand tried to hold back a hearty laugh, “Well, I feel that you’re a bit too young to understand that. Even so, I don’t believe it’s my place to tell you. If you are so curious, though, I will tell you this – not everyone is fortunate enough to have good fathers like you do.”
“Did you have a bad dada?”
“No, I didn’t. I had a very caring father. Now, shall we resume our reading about the House of Stuart?”
“Hm…yeah!”
---
Rupert could definitively tell you why he never had children, and he had just experienced every single one of those reasons in one day. He has spent pretty much every minute of the day running around the apartment, trying to keep Harpreet clean, fed, and entertained.
Now, he finally caught a break after finally getting the baby to sleep. She would only sleep in his arms, but he didn’t care as long as she was asleep. He walked into the kitchen, where Armand and Michelle were both fast asleep on the couch. He sat down gently, trying not to wake any of them.
Maybe he should take a nap himself while he still could.
Just as he was drifting off to sleep, Rupert felt a small shake on his arm. He opened his eyes to see Michelle looking up at him.
“Oh, Michelle, I thought you were asleep.” He sleepily smiled at her.
“Can I hold the baby?” Michelle asked him, pointing at Harpreet.
“Hm? I’d usually ask her fathers for permission, but I think it’d be alright. Just be careful; she’s only a little baby.”
He gently lowered Harpreet into Michelle’s lap, keeping support of the baby’s head in case it dropped. He kept a gentle hold of her the entire time, afraid of what might happen if Michelle accidentally let go.
He watched as Michelle gently held Harpreet. The toddler smiled and cooed as if trying to communicate with the baby. Of course, she was asleep, so the communication wasn’t quite getting through. He saw a little sparkle in the toddler’s eyes, and it wasn’t just the lighting in the room. He almost felt comfortable enough to let her go, but he still wasn’t quite sure.
“Grandpa Rupert?” Michelle looked up at him yet again.
“Yes?”
“Um, when…um…Ha-Happy’s daddies coming back?”
“Oh, they’ll be back soon. Amir finishes work at five o’clock, and it is…four thirty.” Rupert almost cried hearing Michelle’s attempt at pronouncing Harpreet’s name.
“How long can I hold her?”
“Well, if you want, you can hold her until Amir gets back. That should be about forty minutes.”
“Can you hold her if she cries?”
“Of course I will. For now, though, she’s sleeping, and she seems very comfortable with you.”
“Yay! I like that she likes me.”
“I’m sure she’ll grow up loving her big cousin.”
“Who?”
“You, Michelle.”
“Oh. I’m gonna be the best big cousin ever! Even with Auntie Marina and Uncle Jonah’s baby!”
Rupert chuckled and gave her hair a little ruffle. “I’m sure you will, dear.”

I watched Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, it was AMAZING except I really didn't like the plot but I think I wasn't the intended audience because nothing made sense to me (I think you have to be a fan of the comics and stuff for it to make sense?)
Animation absolutely blew me away though and Mathew Patel is my favourite character in the whole show XD A national treasure
Also also LOVEEEED all the Toronto references, can't believe they even had Dupont station!

“The Fourth of the Future” color lithograph on paper by Henry Barkhaus (1865-1886), published in The Wasp, volume 15 (July-December 1885), July 4, 1885, pages 8-9 (from the collection of The Bancroft Library).
Celebrating the 4th: Chinatown's 1890 Coming Out Party
On this July 4, a cartoon inspired by the Chinese America of 1885 is considered both for both its satirical and prophetic qualities. For nearly a century (1856-1935), The Illustrated Wasp, later known simply as The Wasp, was among California's most popular tabloids. It thrived particularly in the late 1870s and early 1880s, especially under the editorship of Ambrose Bierce from 1881 to 1886. As a weekly publication, it covered San Francisco's social, political, and commercial scenes, featuring a mix of local and international news, social commentary, numerous advertisements, and topical humor.
The Wasp’s written content was often complemented and overshadowed by intricate full-page illustrations, many focusing on the contemporary issue of Chinese immigration. These illustrations vividly depicted the discrimination and prejudice faced by the Chinese, highlighting, according Bancroft Library curator Theresa Salazar, the “struggle to survive as individuals and communities as well as the issues that dominated the imagination of their white contemporaries.” Salazar writes about the vivid illustration which appeared in The Wasp on July 4, 1885, as follows:
“The cartoon, published just three years after the passage of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, imagines the Fourth of July parade in San Francisco with racial roles completely reversed. The Palace Hotel is filled with Chinese occupants who look down on the parade, led by an Uncle Sam wearing a formal Chinese ceremonial costume and followed by a large American flag with a dragon supported by a string of Chinese firecrackers. A Chinese policeman beats a white tramp while Chinese boys throw stones at a white businessman. On the corner, the “Chinese Call” newspaper is for sale, an obvious reference to the San Francisco Call, just behind an orientalized Mexican selling tamales. In the building to the right a white barber is giving a haircut beneath a sign reading “M U G K DE YOUNG BARBER,” another obvious reference, to Michael H. De Young, the owner of the San Francisco Chronicle. In the room above, a Caucasian laundry advertises its services as ‘AH SCOTT WASHING AND IRONING.’”
Although Barkhaus’ illustration was patently satirical, some elements would prove to be prescient a century later, such as Chinese policemen, a parade down Market Street (currently part of the main procession for the city's annual Chinese New Year parade), thousands of Chinese American spectators (with more women, unlike 1885) lining the route in front of the Palace Hotel. Even the cartoon's mash-up with Japanese motifs, such as a dragon on a fanciful rendering of a Japanese-style mikoshi borne by loincloth-attired Shinto-esque adherents, would also presage Japanese American participation in future civic festivities.
In pre-1906 San Francisco, the Chinese community in Chinatown would have been well aware of American holidays such as July 4th. Independence Day celebrations appear in the earliest images of pioneer San Francisco.

Fourth of July parade passing in front of Old St. Mary's Church on Dupont Street in 1864. Photographer unknown (from the collection of the San Francisco Public Library). The description on the verso reads: “Day Before Bank Opened--Fourth of July parade 1864 on Dupont Street, now Chinatown’s Grant Avenue, San Francisco. Note Old St. Mary's Church, and sparsely built Telegraph Hill in background. This photo was taken just 1 day before The Bank of California first opened 100 years ago on July 5, 1864.”
Hence, the artist Barkhaus undoubtedly drew on his past observance of Chinese parades and foreshadowed Chinese participation in general July 4th celebrations just five years later.

Most Gorgeous Chinese Pageant Ever Witnessed in San Francisco,” photo feature from The Call Sunday Magazine Section, San Francisco Sunday, July 16, 1890, describing Chinese participation in San Francisco's observance of the July 4 holiday of that year. The photographers are uncredited in this 1890 spread. However, the square center photo of three children is identical to Hortense Schulze’s photo titled “Taking the Air with Sister,” copyright-claimed in 1899.

As a feature story and photo spread in The Call newspaper of July 16, 1890, observed, Chinese participation in US Independence Day festivities appeared to have been “tentative” in San Francisco until the last decade of the 19th century. Chinatown was no stranger to elaborate processions through the neighborhood. However, as The Call’s story implies, the lack of participation in mainstream July 4 festivities had reflected hard, learned experience about Chinatown’s uneasy relationship with the rest of the city:
“On previous occasions, when the natives of the Flowery Kingdom were asked to participate in public spectacles – which asking was rare – they took part in a shy, tentative sort of way. Long years of neighboring with the citizens of San Francisco had taught them the lesson that the more they kept to themselves the better off they were. The consequence was, always, when the turned out in parade, they were few in numbers and poor in show. “This year, how different!”
The Call reported that the participation by the Chinese community in the July 4, 1890 celebration was due in large part to the “vision,” intervention, and influence of Chinese Consul General Ho Yow. Significantly, such participation was embraced by the Native Sons of the Golden State (later to be named the Chinese American Citizens Alliance), which organized a Chinese contingent for the parade, channeling the community’s natural capacity for processional logistics and showmanship.
In addition to the photos printed in The Call, images in the collections of the Stanford Libraries and Bancroft Library provide representative samplings of what a typical Chinese contingent carried, and how it appeared, when on the march for parades as Chinatown approached the turn of the century.

As The Call reported in 1890, the “kaleidoscopic beauty” and pageantry of the Chinese procession left a lasting impression celebrants and spectators. The lessons learned in the July 4 parade would be reapplied by the Chinese as a tool of civic engagement with the broader community in subsequent years and, most notably, with the public celebrations of Chinese New Years starting in 1953.
As a 1907 photo from Oakland Chinatown indicates, Chinese pioneer communities outside of San Francisco applied their cultural traditions and joined in general American July 4th celebrations.

Although Chinese celebrations were somewhat distinct from the mainstream American observance, fireworks appear to have been a common feature in both Chinese and American festivities. The Chinese community would set off firecrackers and fireworks, symbolizing not just the American independence but also their own cultural heritage, as fireworks are traditionally used in China to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck.

July 4 celebrations in Chinatown carried a sense of resilience during an era of exclusion and discrimination. By participating in Independence Day celebrations, the Chinese community asserted its presence and contribution to American society to foster goodwill and improve relations with the broader American public.
During the war years, however, the US Independence Day took secondary importance to events overseas, particularly in 1944 when Chinese communities across the US used early July parades to collect money for war relief in China’s struggle against Japanese aggression.

During WW II, China and other diaspora communities commemorated San Ch’i,” or the seventh day of the seventh month of the seventh year of resistance to Imperial Japan.
Overall, the July 4th celebrations in pre-1906 San Francisco Chinatown were a blend of Chinese and American traditions, marked by fireworks and cultural performances. These celebrations were not just about American independence but also intended to express cultural identity and belonging in the face of significant challenges.
