Joshua Boone on Dallas Winston:
"I play Dallas Winston and I think what I love most about the character is how loud he loves but how it goes unheard. You know, we overlook the nuance in how love show up."

Fire (Sodapop x Reader)
So, the Curtis parents have died, but it's been a little while. Soda hasn't dropped out of school yet!!! Darry is working to keep the family afloat, but they're doing pretty well financially. The other people still in school are Pony, Johnny, Two-Bit, and Steve.
Warning: Swearing
Sodapop Curtis got along with everyone. He was funny, handsome, popular, and could snag a lady with just one glance. Everyone liked him.
Except one person.
Y/n Y/l/n.
And it was mutual.
No one, not even the two haters themselves, knew exactly how it started. Maybe it was because Soda was a greaser and Y/n was a Soc. Maybe it was because they were both competing for limited popularity. Maybe it was because Soda had pulled Y/n's hair when they were small. Maybe it was because they were trying to ignore feelings for the other. All everyone knew is that they either went out of their way to avoid the other or annoy the other.
Y/n made a point to turn around and go the other way whenever she saw Soda in the halls. Soda made a point by sitting the farthest away from Y/n whenever they had classes together. And they both made a point by shooting each other death glares from across the cafeteria.
It was quite uncharacteristic of Soda to hate someone. His brothers and the rest of his gang were certainly surprised when he first came home ranting about Y/n Y/l/n. But, as time went on, they got used to his outbursts.
Darry chose to ignore it, used to Soda's mood swings and hyper-activity. He thought it was something that Soda would forget and move on from in a little while.
Pony was somewhat worried by it. Soda was never mad at anyone (unless they hurt the gang) and he didn't understand why Soda hated Y/n with a burning passion.
Johnny didn't like that Soda hated Y/n. Johnny quite liked the girl, and wasn't used to Soda being angry about things. He was supposed to be the constant happiness in the gang.
Two-Bit didn't understand it. He had met Y/n at one point, and she had seemed perfectly fine, until he tried to flirt with her, and then she slapped him.
Steve, having never met the girl but being loyal to Soda through and through, hated Y/n too.
Dally didn't give a fuck.
Y/n had two close friends, Marcia and Cherry. (She has many other friends, something that added to her admiration at school, but these were the closest two.) They had grown up together, and stuck together through thick and thin.
Marcia was cold towards Soda. She was loyal to Y/n, and trusted her instincts. Whenever Soda came close to Y/n, Marcia would step slightly in front of her and tell Soda off.
Cherry thought that Y/n should give Soda a chance. She didn't understand why they were so cold to each other. Since Cherry was close to Soda's brother, Pony, she thought that Soda was nice and a decent human being.
Whatever the case, Soda and Y/n kept on hating each other.
And one day, things went overboard.
Your pov
I was walking home with Marcia (Cherry went home another way) when I heard some loud and rowdy noises behind me.
I turned my head to see Ponyboy, Johnny, Two-Bit, Steve, and fucking Sodapop Curtis behind us.
I bristled and turned back to Marcia. "How much longer until we get home?"
"Just a couple blocks, why?"
"Curtis' are behind us."
Marcia groaned and picked up the pace. I scurried along after her, "Why do you hate them?" I asked.
"Because they're playboys. They jump from one girl to another and play with their feelings. And you hate them. So, whoever you hate, I hate."
I smiled softly at my friend, "Thanks Marcie!" I used her nickname that I knew she disliked.
She groaned even louder and lightly slugged me on the arm.
"Hey girls." Someone hooked an arm around both Marcia and I's shoulders. My jaw clenched and I looked over my shoulder to see Two-Bit hanging off of us two.
"Hello." I drawled.
Marcia clicked her tongue and pushed Two-Bit's arm off her. I did the same. "Get off me." She said.
"I must say, you two look ravishing today." Two-Bit moved ahead of us, and walked backward, looking us over.
"Leave us alone." Marcia grabbed my hand and dragged me to the other side of the street.
Two-Bit laughed loudly and yelled over, "You that scared of us greasers?"
"Don't say anything." Marcia hissed at me.
But I couldn't stop the response that was already on my lips, "I would think you should be scared of us Socs."
The greasers laughed and crowed, "Why? Cause your boyfriends will beat us up?" Two-Bit teased, "My sister could beat up your boyfriends."
"I could beat you up, Keith. Don't flatter greasers." I said, staring straight ahead. Marcia snickered.
Two-Bit scoffed, "Oh really? Would you like to test that theory?"
"Would you like another slap to the face?"
"Oh-ho! Someone's got a quick tongue. Wonder what else it can do?"
I seethed, and Marcia had to grab my forearm to keep me from lunging across the street.
"I don't see why you would waste your time with this broad." Sodapop finally interjected, throwing me a glare.
I growl and said, "At least I'm not a slimy greaser with no money or parents."
Everyone went silent.
I knew that it was a low blow and I felt bad about it, but I wasn't about to let that show. I dragged Marcia down another street, away from the Curtis gang.
"Wow Y/n/n." Marcia whispered, "I know you hate him but that was a little mean."
I sighed, "I know but how else am I supposed to shut him up?"
"By punching him?" Marcia giggled slightly, but worry was evident on her face. "Maybe you should apologize to him and his brothers."
"Never."
Marcia took a deep breath, "I know your pride will be hurt but it's the right thing to do. Pride isn't the most important thing. Their feelings are."
I groaned, "Fine."
"Tonight?" Marcia pleaded.
"But I thought we were going to the drive-in tonight!" I whined.
Marcia shot me a look. It was a look I knew well; my mom had mastered it. "Fine. But what if they're at the drive-in? Maybe we should go just in case."
"Y/n."
"I don't even know where he lives!" I tried to come up with more problems that can't be solved.
"I think Cherry does. We can ask her."
I paused, "Alright."
Soda pov
"At least I'm not a slimy greaser with no money or parents." Her words echo in my head.
"You okay man?" Johnny asked, clapping a hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah," I brushed it off, "Why wouldn't I be?"
"That was a rank move on her part." Two-bit said.
"Well, to be fair Two, you were bein' mean to her and her friend." I said.
"Yeah." He shrugged, "'Cause they're hot when they're riled up. Only want to get into her pants."
My jaw clenched and I said, "Bug off."
"What's got you hacked off?" Steve asked.
"Nothing."
"Seriously though," Steve continued, "Ever since that Y/n chick came along, you've been super mad and all that. You used to be happy and... fun."
I scoffed, "She just... gets on my nerves."
***
A while later, the rest of the gang had gone out to the drive-in. I decided to not go. I didn't feel like it.
I was laying on the couch, thinking over the day when a knock sounded on the door.
I sat up, confused. Usually the gang just barged in.
A knock sounded again. When I opened the door, I was surprised by who I saw.
Your pov
Soda opened the door and his face morphed into one of shock. Then into one of anger, "What the hell are you doing here?"
I stiffened, shifting on my feet, "I would like to say I'm sorry." I choked out, "What I said was highly inappropriate and I would like to apologize."
Soda's face showed a hint of surprise, "Thank you."
I coughed, an awkward minute passing between us.
"I-I better go." I jerked my thumb behind me, indicating I should leave.
Soda and I nodded awkwardly, and I turned, descending the stairs.
"Would.. you like to come in?" Soda asked hesitantly.
I looked back at him. He looked nervous, wondering if I would agree to his offer or not. I'm not sure if he wanted me to accept or not.
"Sure..."
Soda allowed me to come in, and I do. I stood in the living room, not sure what to do. Soda sat on the couch, and patted the place next to him.
I sat down delicately, smoothing out my skirt. My spine was ridged, hands clasped tightly in my lap.
"I-uh, I know it's not as fancy as you're used to, but it's home." Soda broke the silence.
"No! No." I said quickly, "It's wonderful. I like it." The silence ensued again. "I know that this is probably not the right thing to say," I said, "And that it won't help the pain, but I'm sorry about your parents."
"Thank you." Soda took a deep breath and looked at me.
I locked with his gaze, and just then was I noticing his dark brown eyes. They dance, even through the awkwardness.
"You have really nice eyes." I breathed.
Soda smiled lightly and I smiled back. His smile really does light up the room.
"Thanks. You too."
Soda opened his mouth to say something else, but just then the door banged open and the rest of his gang came in, laughing and joking.
They all stopped when they saw me.
There was silence and they all had very different reactions.
Some looked mad. Others looked worried. But they all looked surprised.
"I... I'm gonna go." I stood quickly and brushed out my clothes. I breezed past the greasers, out the door, and down the street.
It seemed as if Sodapop Curtis and I were at a ceasefire.
