Decided that he would become stronger than death to stop those he cares about from dying after failing to accept his mother's death. When he begins getting visions/nightmares like he had before losing his mother of his wife dying in childbirth, he decides to team up with an evil sorcerer and mastermind to learn the secret to stopping death. The price he willingly paid was leading the slaughter of the community of peacekeeping monks who had raised him from nine years old, feeling guilt about his heinous betrayal even as he unflichingly continued the massacre (sunk cost fallacy to a very extreme degree). The unintended price he paid was the loss of his limbs and independence after his injuries during a fight with his mentor and brother figure, his wife dying on childbirth due to the great stress of his heinous actions, and being separated from his children until they were adults firmly opposed to the imperial regime he became the attack dog for (only knowing of their survival until after he had personally attacked them both); He literally did not have to do any of that. his wife Padmè very very very very much did not want him to do any of that. He was completely absorbed in his own inability to deal with loss that he deadlock refused to consider losing family again and then he went and killed what amounted to his extended family, his wife and the man who raised and guided him from age 9. And his own kids unknowingly. In terms of accomplishing your goals there really really wasn't much more he could have fucked up. And when it comes down to key moments, all he had to do was not cut off mentor and co-worker Mace Windu's hand with a laser sword and everything would have been fine. He's a nominee for Fail King of All Time to me

Feanor

The definition of hubris. Created the silmarils who were so perfect even the gods praised them. Got them stolen by the gods evil brother (so essentially fantasy satan). Then decided to go fight the evil god to get the silmarils back and swore an oath binding him and his sons to get them back no matter who would stand in their way. This drastically backfired when some other elves stood in his way so he murdered them. Got cursed by the gods for this (together with his entire family and everyone who followed them). Told the gods that they were of the same kind as fantasy satan and that they would end up following him

Morgoth (a god) shows up at his house and Feanor (professional hater of gods) tells him to get fucked* and slams the door in his face. *”Get thee gone from my gate thou jail-crow of Mandos!”; He has never spent anything wrong ever aside from all the war crimes.

The Valar (gods) asked Feanor for help in saving the world from being in total darkness and he said “no, figure it out yourselves”. Repeatedly and intentionally goes against their orders leading to war and chaos; I know it’s left open ended to what really happened to him after he died, but I hope he never repents. I hope he stays an antagonistic and egotistical bastard after being reimbodied (brought back to life) and continues to make it everyone else’s problem. I love him.

I’m gonna have to try to do this without a sing Tolkien scholarship words so bear with me. Basically my dude is one of the smartest and most talented elves in the world. Unfortunately he has a lot of daddy issues AND mommy issues largely due to the fact that his mom died when he was a kid and decided not to come back (as elves can do). No one else has this problem. He invented a ton of important stuff and had seven sons. His most prized creation was three gems called the Silmarils, which contained the light of the Two Trees, which gave light to the world before they were destroyed. When the Valar (the gods of Tolkien’s world) asked if they could use the Silmarils to potentially create another light source, he emphatically refused and in fact became so jealous of them that he and his sons swore an oath that anyone who so much as touched them would die by their swords. Sauron’s boss steals the gems and Feanor decides that he will lead his people on a crusade to retrieve and avenge them. This results in the death of him, most of his people, and almost his entire family minus one of his sons, Galadriel, and Elrond; He once yelled at the devil to get off his lawn

went to war with morgoth (satan basically) against the will of the gods and made a whole speech to said gods about how they were gonna feel really silly when he killed morgoth and saved the whole world. he never actually did battle with morgoth because he died on like day 1 of getting to middle earth (he left like 2/3 of his forces behind because he didn��t trust them) and spontaneously combusted upon his death; he’s a huge asshole and a mad scientist and linguist and prince with daddy issues and also mommy issues

Because of his pride, he went against the gods because the evil god Morgoth stole his life's work (the Silmarils, 3 shiny gems that radiated the light of the two trees that a huge evil spider had sapped dry). Swore (with his 7 sons) an oath to hunt Morgoth and retrieve his shiny gems. Commited kinslaying, burned some boats, combusted to ashes after suffering mortal wounds at the hands of corrupted demi-gods. Consequences of his actions could be seen long long after his death: the oath was passed on to his sons to hopelessly fulfill (failure after failure, including two more kinslayings, one of them casting himself into a fiery volcano, another wandering the shores for eternity);

“Miss Mead, you said?” Michael questioned, gazing down at you with a soft grin tapering his lips.

“Uhh yeah. My real mom’s name.”

Michael opened your bedroom door and ushered you through.

“Then in that case, I have something to show you.”

He strode out into the hall stood tall and confident, with you two steps behind half-cowering as you crept out. Whatever danger lay outside, whoever was emptying rounds in the hallway may have been with the man whose arm you were currently clinging onto, but that didn’t diminish the danger beyond your four walls.

“Show me?” Your brows furrowed, questioning whether your trust in this complete stranger was misplaced. “Michael, do I know you from someplace?”

Michael guided you tentatively through the halls, taking contemplative steps as if you were on a walk along the promenade, not to survey the atrocities he and his accomplice had committed.

“You do not,” he cleared his throat, turning the next corner into another crisp white corridor. “But I know someone who should.”

“What are you talking about? Is this why you didn’t kill me?”

“No. But you see,” he stood still and turned to face you, planting his red-gloved hands on your shoulders. “Things are not what they seem.”

“You need to start making sense, Mr Michael,” you snapped, shrugging off his grasp and throwing your hands in the space between you. “What do you know about me?”

Shifting uncomfortably on the spot, Michael pulled at the fingers on his gloves and yanked his hands free, fiddling his digits nervously as he summoned the strength for an explanation.

“Your mother. Your real mother. You said she went missing?”

“What the fuck do you know about my—“

“The witches...”

“What? What did the witches do?”

“I told you the witches murdered my mother figure. Ms Miriam Mead, the only woman that ever truly loved me. She took me in when my real family abandoned me.”

Disbelief sent you collapsing against the nearest door, the brilliant white wood sliding you down to the floor with your knees bunched up to your head. Tears that you didn’t even notice brimming had burst their banks and streamed hot and furious down your cheeks, barely coherent gasps of broken syllables slowly forming a sentence.

“My mom… my mom’s dead?”

“Not exactly,” Michael muttered as he dropped to his knees beside you.

“What the fuck do you mean, not exactly?! She’s either dead or she isn’t, so which one is it?!” Your face skewed into a vicious rage, countless thoughts rattling in your skull so loud you could barely hear Michael’s words.

“Cordelia destroyed her soul so I could never reach her. So she could never help me again. But I brought her back, somehow.”

“I don’t... I don’t believe you,” you sniffled softly, soaking your sleeve with tears. “How could you—“

“I need you to trust me, Lilith,” he interjected, laying a comforting hand on your arm as he settled against the wall and mirrored your position. “She’s here. She’s right out there, just down the hall.”

“No, no—“ your head shook dismissively.

“Please, just hear me out. She’s here, she’s back to life in a fashion but she’s not the same Ms Mead, she doesn’t remember you.”

“Well why? Why doesn’t she remember me?” Concern for your mother twisted into anger at the man who seemingly had all the answers. “What have you done to her?”

“Nothing,” Michael sighed, the honesty and sincerity in his voice telling you all you needed to know about his account. “I had to give her every memory from scratch. I used every memory I knew about her: her childhood, the Satanic council, the ex-husbands she poisoned,“ you both chuckled gently at the thought. “But I didn’t have any memories of you to give to her because I didn’t know about you.”

“This is... this is too much,” you despaired, rinsing your face in your hands.

“Trust me, it won’t be once you see her.”

“Can I?” You sniffed resolutely, rising to your feet. “Can I see her?”

“Of course, but you have to remember she’s not quite right yet,” Michael stood beside you, both hands resting on your arms once again. “Don’t run into her arms, don’t overwhelm her. Just give her time to learn who you are again.”

“But she’s my mom!” Another wave of hysterics took over you, leaning forward to plant your head into Michael’s chest. “She’s my mom, how can she not know me?”

“I know, I know,” Michael cooed, wrapping protective arms around you. “It’s tough, I felt the same when I first saw her.”

Swaying in Michael’s hold, you drew your lip between your teeth and resigned yourself to ripping off the Band-Aid.

“Come on,” he whispered tenderly, unfurling you from his embrace and stepping aside to usher you around the next corner. “Go meet your mom again.”

Taking a deep breath, you stepped cautiously around the brilliant white hallway and found a stout lady in the next corridor.

“H... hi?” You hesitated, frozen to the spot as you waited for her to acknowledge you.

Ms Mead cocked her head with vacant eyes wide open, registering your presence and locking her sights on you.

“I found the last one, Michael!” She bellowed, grasping her arm and twisting it until an audible click loosened her hand, revealing an automatic gun in its place.

Your pulse thundered in your ears so loud you couldn’t hear Michael lunge toward you, standing tall in front of you as a barrier between you both.

“Ms Mead, no!” He screamed, firing defensive arms in front of you before a hail of bullets pummelled into his chest. His frame stuttered helplessly, his head bobbing and his body thrumming with every bullet that penetrated it.

You grabbed hold of his dark coat as his body dropped to the floor, trying desperately to hold his weight as you tumbled to your knees and propped him up into your lap.

“Mom!” You wailed back at the woman who stood speechless in the hallway, casting an empty stare as she fixed on the carnage before her.

“Mom, what the fuck have you done?!”

Black Excellence Undermines White Supremacy. By Don Odom, Jr. (Ray Odom) | Editor In Chief 1921, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Forced to segregate, these Black men built a thriving, all black community called Greenwood. They collectively owned 21 restaurants, 30 grocery stores, a hospital, a savings & loan, a post office, three hotels, jewelry stores, retail boutiques, two movie theaters, a library, a bus and cab service, a nationally recognized school system, six private airplanes, and two newspapers. They achieved all of this of this only FIFTY EIGHT years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Most of the business owners, doctors, lawyers, and church leaders in this picture were murdered and looted by a white mob on May 31, 1921. They then burned the entire community to the ground. Next, for over 60 years, the city of Tulsa buried the crime. Conservative estimates put the death toll at 400 men, women, and children. In 2019, a large mass grave was found that suggests that the figure is even higher. They killed them, and then deliberately burned the community because they were jealous… Jealous that people they viewed as ignorant, less than human, and definitely inferior to them, were living far better than they were. THEY WERE A THREAT TO THE CREDIBILITY OF WHITE SUPREMACIST’S ARGUMENT THAT IT WAS MORALLY OK TO HAVE COMMITTED THE ATROCITIES THAT WHITE SEGREGATIONISTS COMMITTED DURING THE JIM CROW SOUTH. THAT THEY WERE NOT REALLY “HUMAN”, SO IT WAS OK TO BE EVIL TOWARDS THEM. This incident may well prove to be the tipping point in the loss of the moral soul of white America. They could not have considered God’s judgment. They could not know that He said that He would make those considered the first last, and that the last shall be first. The Black intellectuals, guided by the southern Black Church, possessing a fearless Spirit, posed - and CONTINUE to pose- the biggest threat to the doctrine of white supremacy. We must strive for #BlackExcellence, attend #HBCUs, and most importantly, encourage critical thought in, teach real history to, and pour The real Gospel into the next two generations of Black Americans. Black Thought Magazine is a manifestation of the voice God placed in my Spirit in the middle of my successful cancer fight, and this voice could possibly be what saves this us all from the white supremest rulers of this current world order. They are empowered by the Prince of the world, but we are empowered by the Light of the world… The risen Christ, Jesus. Those who practice such things will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God.” (emphasis mine) Galatians 5:19-21 It is impossible to be a white supremacist and be a real Christian. If this is Satan’s world, and you rule it, who really gave you your power? Only Black Americans could have endured the hell we have suffered at your hands for 400 years, and if it was not for the Lord that was on our side… The God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, the Great I AM… I don’t know where we would be. I believe (and I am working on a book about) the postulation that He allowed our suffering for a season in the same manner that the children of Israel were allowed to become slaves in Egypt. He had a Grand plan to allow His people to suffer so that he could humiliate Egypt in front of the world He will show that He alone is the Lord when He redeems the Black American man and women… Regarded as the lowest of the low. It sounds like the kind of underdog story that God would author in my opinion. Besides, His Wisdom is empowering this voice, not my own. Collective Responsibility

Unitarian Universalists can learn from the Jewish observance of Yom Kippur and its emphasis on collective responsibility. This sermon was delivered on October 6, 2019. 

We are all Jonah sometimes. (Yes, that Jonah.) There are moments when we make choices that we know are not guided by truth or love or whatever leads us to act as our best selves. The experience of having insight into moral clarity and wandering in the opposite direction anyway is very common. That’s a human thing. Maybe we have a fish-belly experience to help us turn it around, maybe we make a change on our own, maybe a trusted friend tells us the truth. For as long as we live, there are opportunities to notice we’re going in the wrong direction and to turn around. 

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I’m Jonah at the end of the book. Sometimes, in the less compassionate part of my heart, I hope to witness negative consequences for people I disagree with. Sometimes the universe offers more forgiveness than I would offer if it were up to me. I’m not talking about situations where someone in a marginalized group is pressured to show forgiveness to someone in a privileged group, that is a whole other sermon. I’m talking mostly about petty disagreements that could be reconciled if the willingness were there. When I’m not my best self, I am sometimes like Jonah, and I pout when punishment is not forthcoming. This happens fairly regularly when I see people driving on the highway in an inconsiderate manner. Luckily, the eventual reconciliation of all beings with mercy, holiness, and love is not something I am in charge of, even though I have faith that it may be so at the end of time. 

Letting go of grudges is something I struggle with, and I’m still working on it. For some people, letting go is a more complex process, and it’s not healthy or justice-oriented to rush, especially when it involves trauma or repeated and prolonged harm. Within in the realm of everyday forgiveness and reconciliation, I still struggle, I keep returning to the work, and I hope I’m going in the right direction. Meanwhile, the Book of Jonah reminds me that the universe contains more potential for growth, for change, for making amends, and for forgiveness than I am able to contain within myself at any one time. So the High Holidays gives me signs and reminders that every so often I need to turn around, to turn toward life. 

There is a way in which the Book of Jonah is about the redemption of the Ninevites, and there is a way in which it is about the redemption of Jonah, the lesson that sometimes things are not all about him. It’s not about any one of us. The world isn’t about me, even though the ways I am privileged might lead me to think otherwise. Spiritual community is about our shared mission and shared strength, which means people don’t always get what they want. The demonstration about the plant that provided shade over Jonah’s head for one day was to put compassion in a larger context; the earth is so much larger than any one person can experience. There are sources of grace, and reasons for limits, that are beyond our knowing. 

On the other hand, sometimes we are the Ninevites. Sometimes we’ve been participating in a society, going ahead with business as usual, not really conscious that the collective impact of our way of life could lead to disastrous consequences, not just for ourselves, but for our entire sphere of existence. For ancient people, large scale consequences may have been understood as Divine response. I don’t know if the story happened exactly that way, but I believe it’s true that we bear collective responsibility for some of the negative consequences have befallen our communities, our nation, and our world. 

For me, this is a key point of resonance between the High Holidays prayers and Unitarian Universalism: the interdependent web. We know that what happens on any part of the web affects the rest. We know that we are connected to each other in proximity, to neighbors around the world, to the earth we share. We know that we are made of stardust, and that the whole universe of which we are a part moves together in a dance of gravity and matter and energy. Knowing that cause and effect are a complex network of responses, we as Unitarian Universalists have many opportunities to contemplate our call to community, our call to build coalitions, and our call to face the consequences of societal structures as one body. 

This stark understanding that all of us are in this together, that the consequences of our societal choices will affect all of us, is part of the sentiment in the Aveinu Malkeinu, which we’ll hear after the sermon. Aveinu Malkeinu is a prayer of acknowledgement of collective responsibility, and most of all a prayer that disaster will be averted and we will have time to demonstrate a new way of being. It matters that people gather together in community for this prayer. High Holidays services are opportunities to acknowledge widespread harm, to anticipate shared consequences, and to pledge collective action to change. The prayer is addressed to a Higher Power, but all over the liturgy of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, it’s clear that humans have responsibilities for creating and repairing the better world that we pray for. We face consequences together, we commit to change together. Maybe that’s a flavor of what the Ninevites did when presented with Jonah’s prophecy. 

Aveinu Malkeinu isn’t the only prayer of collective responsibility in the Jewish liturgy. There are many. For instance, in the Ashmanu, the community recites a list of different transgressions, one for each letter of the alphabet. If you’re using an interpretive translation, the community might say we have Acted out of malice for the letter A, we have Backbitten for the letter B, on up to Z, we have lacked Zeal to struggle for our convictions. All of the examples are in the plural, things we have done. Even if I personally didn’t commit letter V for violence, I am part of a system that allows violence to occur, and I am here to support my neighbor who wants to turn aside from violence. No single person has committed every sin on the list, but we have all co-created a community structured such that these sins happen. 

There is a quote from Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, who was a twentieth century theologian and civil rights activist, about this ethic of collective responsibility. He said, “…morally speaking, there is no limit to the concern one must feel for the suffering of human beings, that indifference to evil is worse than evil itself, that in a free society, some are guilty, but all are responsible.” (End quote)

Heschel had the Holocaust partially in mind when he said this. He was born in Poland in 1907. His mother was murdered by Nazis, and two of his sisters died in concentration camps. In Heschel’s understanding, some were guilty for the atrocities of the Second World War, but all were responsible for allowing the growth of the ideology that led to them, and for letting atrocities go on as far and as long as they did. The bystanders were also responsible. 

Heschel is well known for applying the same ethic of social responsibility to the moral crises in America that he applied to the moral crises of Europe. He marched for African American civil rights, calling it praying with his feet. In a 1963 speech to a conference on Religion and Race, Heschel said:

“Race as a normative legal or political concept is capable of expanding to formidable dimensions. A mere thought, it extends to become a way of thinking, a highway of insolence, as well as a standard of values, overriding truth, justice, beauty. As a standard of values and behavior, race operates as a comprehensive doctrine, as racism. And racism is worse than idolatry. Racism is satanism, unmitigated evil.” (End quote)

Heschel’s point that, while some are guilty, all are responsible, explicitly included collective responsibility of white people for a culture of racism. Today we might frame the discussion in terms of white supremacy culture, of the systems of inequality that are baked into our legal codes, our public policies, our expectations of etiquette, and our economy. Some are guilty of knowingly creating terror and exploitation for people who are marginalized while creating advantages for people with privilege. All of us are responsible for dismantling that system. 

This is just one example of our shared call to repair; the same goes for ecological repair, for justice for Transgender and gender non-conforming folks, for our health care system, for economic justice. Some are guilty, all are responsible. On Yom Kippur, I will be thinking not only of my personal confessions, but also about how we as communities and a society are collectively responsible for creating change, as the people of Nineveh took responsibility to create change together. 

It’s not usually that easy for a truth-teller to come along and energize an entire population toward making amends and changing behavior to bring about justice and wholeness. We change on a smaller scale, convincing one congregation at a time, one legislator at a time, one movement at a time. We are constantly called to the work of repair. We know that the consequences we face are bigger than any one of us can change alone. We know that how we bind ourselves together in ethical, spiritual, and economic ways affects other beings on a larger scale than we can grasp. So repair, reconciliation, making amends, learning from our mistakes … these are ongoing projects. We hope to be guided in that continuous repair by the spirit of love. 

Kindness, compassion, mercy are aspects of strength, and it is an ongoing project of renovation and rebuilding to infuse that strength into all our ways of being together. That’s one of the interpretations of Psalm 89, verse 3: Olam chesed yibaneh. You could translate that as, “the strength of kindness has been and shall be in the continuous process of being rebuilt.” In other words, a world shall be built from love. 

There is a song based on Psalm 89:3, composed by Menachem Creditor. You might have heard it at a Jewish spiritual gathering or at a social justice protest. The “we” is a key word in this song. We build this world from love.

Olam chesed yibaneh, tai dai dai, tai dai dai, tai dai dai (x4)

And you must build this world from love, tai dai dai, tai dai dai, tai dai dai

Maybe there is a Higher Power who suffers with us and strengthens us and urges us toward justice and compassion. Maybe all of the Divinity that is currently in the world comes from human beings being their best selves. In either case, that which is sacred waits for us as humans to collectively take responsibility, to acknowledge our interdependence, to face up to brokenness, and to commit to repairs. May we do so with love, in love, and empowered by the spirit of love. So be it, blessed be, amen.

If tomorrow was the day of the rapture, would you be left behind?  I fear many would; many claim to be Christians on Sunday but live like the world the rest of the week, many deny Christ and reject God outright, many are just so wrapped up in themselves to even care.  But one day they will, one day the true church will be gone, millions will have disappeared and the world will be in chaos.  My heart aches when thinking of it, I know there are some I love and care for who live for themselves who probably will still be here come the following day, some who will be left behind.  It doesn’t have to be that way though.  It’s so easy to ensure that your among the raptured saints, that you are saved, spared from the wrath to come that will then begin to be poured out upon the earth and all who are left on it.

God’s escape plan from hell, is also His escape plan from wrath – Jesus!  It’s that simple and for us prideful, stubborn humans that hard.  Jesus is always the answer yet we so often fail to realize it.  Right now I want to tell you about Him, about my King, my Lord, my Savior.  But in order to do that you have to face some harsh, ugly truths about yourselves, it won’t be fun but like a life-saving surgery it is necessary.  Ready or not, here we go.

You are a sinner, we all are actually, every single child born of man since Adam ate the fruit in the garden all those years ago is a sin filled being.  Just look around you at the state of the world to see the evidence of this.  We hate on a scale that is mind boggling and what we hate we try to destroy.  Whether it is the unborn babies slaughtered each day by the millions, ripped limb by limb from the womb which should be the safest place for them save in the arms of God; or the precious child past a certain age is delivered all but the head into this world when a pair of sharp scissors pierce it’s tender flesh at the base of the neck and severe it’s spinal cord before the head is pulled free from it’s mother’s body.  It’s own mother who is supposed to love, cherish, and protect her child just brutally murdered it instead.  Or what about when we decide that we as certain type of person decide we are better than another, that we have more right to life and it’s sustaining resources than another person, one in someway different from us, maybe they have more or less melanin in their skin than us, maybe we are more intelligent in our own eyes than they are, maybe we think we are superior in some way to all these other people, so we decide they are worth less than those like us.  We decide that they have less rights to the resources of this world, to the things we want and need to live, suddenly in our eyes their worthless, a drain on precious resources and as selfish men we make the decision that they’ve got to go.  So we kill them, those we deem parasites, leaches on society.  Never happen you say, I beg to differ.  Ask the millions of ethnic groups enslaved or slaughtered throughout history.  Ask a Jew about the atrocities of the Holocaust and Hitler, a Russian about Lenin or worse yet Stalin, ask a Native American, ask a christian in a muslim country, ask one of the millions of aborted babies around the world each day.  We humans have gotten very good at killing one another for made up reasons as if one life is more important, more valuable than another.

Nothing could be farther than the truth though, we’ve been buying the devils lie that we are better than others for far too long now.  Satan hates us, he has spent the last 6 millennia trying to destroy us by trying to make us destroy one another.  But that’s never been God’s plan.  See God loves each of us as dearly; so dearly that in spite of our wicked, depraved nature he did something absolutely amazing for us, to save us from our wicked ways.  God sent us His only Son, Jesus the Christ to die for us.

See God is a holy, perfect God.  Everything He created was perfect in fact but when Adam and Eve listened to the deceiver Satan’s lies and ate of the fruit God warned them off sin entered the world, the whole creation God’s perfect work became fallen, cursed.  Now it groans under that curse,growing increasingly weak, sick, depraved with each passing year.  When this fall happened Adam and Eve found out the hard way the consequences of sin – death.  Sin separates us from God, separates us from life eventually.  So God had to provide a solution for this, so we as men could be restored and reconciled to Him, our Creator, our Maker. That solution was to send His Son to become man, and to take our place in the punishment and payment for our rebellion, for our sin.

Jesus was God’s Son, but He was also God – hard to grasp I know; I kinda get it better when I think of how I am a daughter, wife and mother all three of which are very distinct parts of me, almost like separate beings but they are all still me.  It’s the same with God only more so, where my different roles are all stuck in one body He isn’t bound by our mortal physical bounds and He can be Father, Son and Spirit in one mind but three beings.  And that little gem of truth is the glorious part of God that enabled Him to come to earth as fully man; albeit not born of man and his corrupted seed but by a woman, a virgin, thereby not being bound under the curse of sin.  As a man he was born and lived just as we do with one big exception, He never sinned.  Instead Jesus was a perfect example for how we should strive to live.  And when they time came He willingly paid the price for our sin by dying for us.  When Jesus was crucified on the cross His precious blood was poured out as the covering for sin.  When we believe this, believe in Jesus as God’s only Son who died for us.  That His shed blood, pure and true, washes away all our filthy sins, then we are saved.

Saved from the consequences of our sin, saved from death.  It’s as if we were a criminal (after all God made all true laws, they’re called the 10 Commandments, and we have all broken them) standing before a judge (a perfect, holy, righteous judge God) about to have sentence passed for our crimes.  DEATH, that’s the just sentence handed down, the consequences for our rebellion against God.  We must die and be forever separated from the one who created us, who loves us.  But as we are about to be taken away to pay our debt, to have our just punishment carried out a man speaks from the back, “I’ve paid this debt, Father.  See my blood, it covers their sins.” And that easily we are forgiven, our sin erased, forgotten by God, we free to live.  Live fully for the first time knowing that our sins are forgiven, that we are right with God our Father, we are secure in the Son and filled with the Spirit to lead and guide us until the day we are called home to heaven.  In that day our broken, mortal, sin scarred bodies will be shed and our souls freed to await the resurrection when we receive the bodies that God created us to have before the fall, before the curse and it’s effects.

That’s the final part of God’s redemptive plan, the resurrection.  One day our bodies will die but not forever.  Just as Jesus rose, resurrected, glorified, alive on the third day after he was crucified we too will one day rise alive and glorified.  That is hope people and that is love, that while we were yet wicked, sin-filled, lying, cheating, rebels Jesus saw past that and paid our debt saying “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.”

Now that you know how to be saved let me go back to my opening statement about the rapture and being left behind.  See one day God is going to judge man for his rebellion, for rejecting Him and his precious Son sent to save man from death.  When that judgement begins to be poured out upon the earth it’s going to be bad, real bad, so bad in fact that if God didn’t shorten those days no life would be left on earth.  This period of judgement is known as Jacob’s Trouble or Daniel’s 70th week and encompasses a total of 7 years, divided at the halfway point by an act known as the Abomination of Desolation committed by the world leader often referred to as the Antichrist, this kicks things into overdrive and marks the beginning of the Great Tribulation when judgement is passed and wrath as punishment poured out.  This time period of 3 1/2 years is like every natural and man made catastrophe and war ever on steroids condensed into a few years.  It’s bad and the loss of life during it is staggering.  But there is good, no great news if you are a believer and follower of Christ BEFORE this period starts; you don’t have to go through it.  Nope, you are spared from wrath, not appointed to it.  Instead the body of true believers, Christ followers washed in the blood, the church will be called up to be with Christ in heaven where He ascended to be with His Father 40 days after His resurrection.  We will be in heaven with our Father, and with our Savior! Our story is glorious just as the story of those left on earth is tragic, I have talked about it in numerous posts but tonight let’s just let my previous statement say it all.  And let me pray that my plea here tonight has touched your heart for Jesus, that you realize your sin, your guilt, and your punishment, repent of those sins and turn from them.  Then cry out to the Savior and ask Him to save you, wash you clean in the power of His shed blood.  Then go and live for Him, follow Him, share the good news that fills you as you look up for our redemption from this world draweth nigh.

There are fallen ones and miscreations that need to be addressed yet do it from the god within. The Curse The Fall

I have been working over the past several years to purposefully understand how, as a Christian, I am to live in the world, without compromising Biblical truths. I have been working to comprehend how to live as a committed husband, father, son, and brother, while working to make an earning for my family. I have been working to wisely decide what values to live out in myself and what to instill in my family. This blog is a catalog of my journey and my reactions to what is going on in the world today. My opinions are my own. I do not ask that you agree with them, that you share them, or that you like them, only that you consider them.

After listening to the morning news on my drive to work, I was struck by the fact that the role of women has changed dramatically since Original Creation. Not having been at the original creation, I rely on the Biblical account, passed down from generation to generation, as the living, breathing, Word of God, to inform my understanding of what went wrong.

In today's society (the one I have experienced in America), women are pressured to do many things they were never intended to do. One such thing is to have a career that is equal, valued, and moves women "ahead" in life. For example, entire portions of political campaigns are geared toward giving women "equal rights." As though shipping children off to day care so that moms can leave the house they were intended to manage is better than staying at home to raise children and keep a home. Society has gotten behind Satan's lies to continually deceive women into thinking they are not good enough to "merely stay at home." They have been duped by his lies. These consequences of The Fall are detrimental to God's design for humanity.

Furthermore, American society has become jaded to the idea that there are Biblical ideas behind right living. I hear constantly that I don't understand what things are like for people trying to establish intimate relationships in "today's world." When I speak out against the travesty and devastating legacy given us by organizations such as Planned Parenthood, I am labeled and idealist, a bigot, and someone who does not get what life is like in "the real world." As though I am somehow wholly different because I have views that stick close to the Word of God? No. I am in the world, but I am not of the world.

The state of society is not my fault, nor is it the fault of the other parties involved. It is the fault of Satan and that cascade of lies he has handed down through sins for generations. In the Book of Genesis, we are told how Satan deceived Eve, who then deceived Adam, who were all cursed according to their sins.

I will go into the ramifications of this Curse as it pertains to Satan and Adam later, but for this post my focus will be on women. Genesis 3:16 says, "To the woman he said, 'I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.'" (New International Version, NIV) or, "He told the woman, 'I’ll greatly increase the pain of your labor during childbirth. It will be painful for you to bear children, since your trust is turning (or your desire is) toward your husband, and he will dominate you.'” (International Standard Version, ISV).

This Curse presents many problems that impact women: Birth is painful in a way it was never intended to be. I cannot help to posit that death was never intended to be a part of childbirth. Birthing implies living. Through sin, unfortunately, Grief and loss have entered the birthing process. Organizations such as Planned Parenthood ensure there is more than enough grief and loss to go around. They support a view that says that having a child when not exactly planned is an "inconvenience" or "distraction" from a rewarding career. What the hell is wrong with my wife having a meaningful career that has no monetary reward because she is solely dedicated to the raising of our children? And why is it that many people reading this will be more offended by the fact that my strong use of the word "hell" is worse that the atrocities committed by satanically influenced leaders of Planned Parenthood. God already planned parenthood, and we broke it by sinning. The world cannot provide a better plan than the one God intended, can it? We never improved perfection 9i.e. original creation), we jacked it up!

Secondly, women will trust their husbands instead of God. Eve turned to Adam to support her original sin, so why should this stop now? In case my readers have not figured this out, men are a bit ridiculous and self-centered and cannot provide our wives (not more than one wife each, but each man's wife) with what they need. Men are like boats without a rudder. We have no direction unless we fully rely on God. We are flawed in how we lead, but lead we must, our family is counting on us! So we have Eve, turning to her husband, desiring him, and it will not go well.

When women trust men as leaders, and these leaders spend thousands of dollars, for example, building "man caves", going on lewd business trips to Las Vegas (where everything that occurs there stays there- yeah right), or spending more time in the office than in the yard with their children, there are bound to be problems. So, women, understand you cannot escape this part of your curse, regardless of what politicians, doctors, lawyers, or women pastors suggest to the contrary.

Thirdly, there is some distinction between the pain in labor during labor, and it being painful to bear children. It is as though God is explaining that there is more to bearing children than just birth. Because men are supposed to lead, and are rather impotent in this endeavor (apart from God), our depraved leadership will make child-rearing unbearable. It will cause a cascade of problems that makes the need for Planned Parenthood "obvious," and “a right.”

I can picture this conversation Satan has with Eve after being kicked out of The Garden of Eden:

Satan: "So that didn't go to well. God sure is against you. I will console you and make life tolerable. You know Adam will continue to let you down. But not me?!"

Eve: "I want to depend on him, but when I needed him to be firm and guide me back toward right living, he let me down. You're right. What should I do?"

Satan: "I will teach you how to overcome Adam's limitations. You are smarter, braver, and far less valued than he is anyway. Just follow my lead and I will get things turned around. I will teach you how to eliminate the children you find too painful, too inconvenient, or those that remind you too much of their father. I will teach you how to surpass him in everything. Just wait and see."

Eve: "Okay, just show me what to do. It is too painful and I cannot bear it. Please help me overcome the inadequacies of my husband."

Satan (to himself): "I can't let her know that there will be discord or enmity between us. Certainly I cannot let her know that her offspring will be against mine. I must deceive her more so that she cannot even believe I have offspring..."

And so the conversations Satan has with Eve continues over the centuries until we have a situation where hundreds of thousands of women are so emotionally distraught over Hillary Clinton's defeat in 2016 to Donald Trump that they march against him and need “safe spaces” all over the country to grieve. They mistakenly believe that Hillary would have somehow freed women from their chains, the glass ceiling, and all the woes they endure in the United States. They are so deceived they cannot see the cage she would have placed over them.

Hillary Clinton should not lead us because it is not her ideal role. Men are supposed to lead. WE are supposed to lead as men completely dependent upon God for everything. Men cannot lead from a "man cave". We cannot lead from a business office. Men cannot lead from a domineering state of mind and behavior. (Reaction to the utter sinfulness of books and movies like "50 Shades of Grey" or "50 Shades Darker" later). As men we should have said “No!” to Eve and to Satan. Adam failed Eve. Men fail women. I fail my wife. 

God restores. God does not fail because it is not in his nature. His redemption can change the state of marriages and families. This will only be done when we, as men and women begin to stand up to Satan's lies. This will only be done when wives submit to their husband as to the Lord. Christ did not dictate verbatim what the church is to do, rather, he gave them guidelines and equipped them to go forth. Husbands, then, must equip their wife to go forth. They must lift them up and give them support. They must NOT dominate them. Men who are well-equipped leaders will give themselves UP for their wife, just as Christ gave himself up for the church.

To give oneself up for his wife means spending the money you want to spend on a man cave on homeschool supplies. This means going without beer and brats money in order to allow your wife to get some clothes she wants. This means substituting a "guys night out" or "softball league" to watch your children so she can get a break. What the hell is wrong with men these days. Lead like Christ led the Church. Lead so that women don't run to places like Planned Parenthood for support. End the sacrifices to Baal. Lead like you were intended to.
