CELEBRITY PROFILE   “Meet ‘n’Greet” Actress ADITI RAO HYDARI
Tumblr media
Hydari's first project of 2017, Kaatru Veliyidai, marked her first collaboration with director Mani Ratnam and second film in Tamil Cinema. She played the role of Leela Abraham, a doctor based in Kargil during the 1999 war, who has a tumultuous and abusive relationship with a fighter pilot, played by Karthi. She next appeared as the titular lead in Omung Kumar's Bhoomi, with Sanjay Dutt.[67] Hydari then played the role of Alauddin Khalji's first wife, Queen Mehrunisa, opposite Ranveer Singh in the epic film Padmaavat directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.[68] The film released on 25 January 2018 amidst numerous controversies and protests.  2018 also marked Aditi's second film with Mani Ratnam and third film in Tamil Cinema with Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. She played Parvathi, one of the eight lead roles. She was paired with actor Arvind Swamy. She did her Tollywood debut with Sammohanam which was critically acclaimed directed by Mohan Krishna Indraganti. She was nominated for the best actress telugu at Filmfare awards as well as at the SIIMA awards. She won Best debut actress award at the Zee Cine Awards Telugu and Special jury award at TSR TV9 awards. Aditi Rao Hydari was also part of Telugu space thriller film Antariksham 9000 KMPH.
I just saw the latest Malayalam movie ‘Sufiyam Sujatam’ released on Amazon Prime OTT platform. A very heart touching romantic tragedy. Cannot help but appreciate the onscreen beauty, acting prowess and the dancing skills of the heroine, Aditi Rao Hydari.
Aditi is an Indian actress, dancer and singer who works in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. She made her on-screen debut with Malayalam film Prajapathi in 2006. For the Tamil film Sringaram in 2007, she played the role of a devadasi and garnered positive reviews from critics for her performance.
She rose to fame after her performance in Sudhir Mishra's 2011 romantic thriller film Yeh Saali Zindagi, a role that won her the Screen Award in the Best Supporting Actress category. She has subsequently starred in several successful Hindi films including the musical Rockstar (2011), the horror-thriller Murder 3 (2013), the action-comedy Boss (2013) and the thriller Wazir (2016). Hydari's portrayal of Queen Mehrunisa in the 2018 epic film Padmaavat was well received; the film became her biggest commercial success.
Aditi Rao Hydari was born on 28 October 1986 in Hyderabad to Ehsaan Hydari and his wife Vidya Rao, an acclaimed classical singer popular for thumri and dadra genres of music. Her father, who died in 2013, was a Bohri Muslim while her mother, who is a Hindu by birth, is a practicing Buddhist and a Chitrapur Saraswat from Mangalore who is half-Telugu. Hydari is thus of mixed lineage – Bohri, Chitrapur Saraswat and Telugu.
Tumblr media
Aditi Hydari belongs to two royal lineages, that of sir Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari and Raja J. Rameshwar Rao of erstwhile Raja of Wanaparthy family. She is the great-granddaughter of Akbar Hydari, former Prime Minister of Hyderabad state (colonial India) and the grandniece of Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari, former Governor of Assam.
She spent her childhood in both Hyderabad and New Delhi. She started learning Bharatanatyam at age 5 and became a disciple of acclaimed dancer Leela Samson. She was educated at A Krishnamurthy Foundation India School and graduated from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi.
She uses both of her parent's surnames. She explained, "I wanted to keep  both, as my mom has brought me up, but my father is also a part of me. Hydari is a rare name so I kept both Rao and Hydari."
Her first film to have a theatrical release, was the Malayalam film Prajapathi (2006), in which she starred alongside Mammootty. In 2009, she was cast by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in his Hindi drama film, Delhi-6, where she portrayed a supporting role of an unmarried woman living in a community where spinsterhood was frowned upon. Featuring in an ensemble cast alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor, Hydari was selected by Mehra after he was impressed with her performance in Sringaram.
Tumblr media
In 2011, she appeared in a role opposite Arunoday Singh in Sudhir Mishra's romantic drama Yeh Saali Zindagi. Portraying the wife of a former convict, the film garnered publicity prior to release for the sensuous scenes between Hydari and Singh. Post-release, Hydari received acclaim for her performance by winning the Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress and subsequently received much larger public attention. She later portrayed a supporting role alongside Ranbir Kapoor in Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar (2011).
Hydari made a public statement that she wanted to appear in lead roles, rather than portray secondary characters, and subsequently, she was cast in her first lead role in a Hindi film through London, Paris, New York (2012) opposite Ali Zafar. Directed by Anu Menon, the film narrated the tale of a couple who connect with each other in unlikely circumstances in three different cities – London, Paris and New York City. With the film, she made her singing debut by singing two of the songs from the soundtrack. Hydari won predominantly positive reviews for her role of Lalitha, with a reviewer from Sify.com stating Hydari "makes the transition from side actress to leading lady and is instantly impressive", adding she is a "good performer with a striking screen presence" and that "she's likely to go places".
In 2013, she became a part of Mahesh Bhatt's Murder franchise, when she was cast as Roshni, opposite Randeep Hooda, in Vishesh Bhatt's directorial film Murder 3.
Tumblr media
Hydari then starred alongside Akshay Kumar and Shiv Panditt in the action film Boss (2013) directed by Anthony D'Souza. In 2014, Hydari appeared in two guest roles – as a royal princess in the comedy drama Khoobsurat and then as a dancer in the Marathi period drama, Rama Madhav, at the request of choreographer Saroj Khan. She was next seen in the comedy drama, Guddu Rangeela (2015) by Subhash Kapoor, which had an average performance at the box office.
In 2016, Hydari starred alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar in Bejoy Nambiar's crime thriller film Wazir.  Hydari next starred in Abhishek Kapoor's romantic drama film Fitoor, along with Tabu, Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif. The film based on Charles Dickens' novel Great Expectations, had Hydari play the role of the younger Miss Havisham (later played by Tabu).

rayagada: Rayagada ready to face Cyclone Gulab’s wrath | Bhubaneswar News - Net4News
Tumblr media
KORAPUT: Following the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast about Cyclone Gulab, the Rayagada administration has stepped up efforts to ensure zero casualties. Official sources said the cyclone is likely to make a landfall near Kalingapatnam between Gopalpur and Visakhapatnam by Sunday evening. It will bring heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds to South Odisha. All precautionary measures have been taken to ensure minimum damage and zero casualty in the district. While officials are on high alert, additional measures have been taken in vulnerable areas, said collector (Rayagada) Saroj Kumar Mishra. According to the collector, as there will be heavy rainfall, a flash flood-like situation is likely to rise in Rushikulya, Nagavali and Vanshadhara rivers. Landslides in the district can’t be ruled out. Several villages in Gudari, Gunupur and Kalyansinghpur blocks and Seskhal in Rayagada block lie in landslide-prone areas and if required people residing in these areas would be shifted to safer places, he said. While the district administration has cancelled the leave of all of its employees for the next two days from Sunday, it has deployed seven teams of ODRAF and two teams of NDRF for rescue operations, if required. The district have stocked adequate quantity of dry food at the panchayat level and have started shifting expectant mothers to the nearest health centre. Officials have been asked to patrol the river embankments flowing inside the district and to constantly update the district control room about the water level in rivers, he said.

British era .303 rifles to be decommissioned today, cops say end of an era - lucknow
Tumblr media
Uttar Pradesh (UP) police will bid adieu to legendary British-era .303 rifles after over 75 years of service on Republic Day on Sunday but for those who had a long association with the weapon and had seen it from close quarters, it’s an end of an era.Brij Lal, former director general of police (DGP) said that .303 rifles were indeed the workhorse of UP police that had accompanied its jawans for more than 70 years and had always given the desired results.“Though there is no provision to give award to the guns on the basis of their performances. But if it existed, .303s’ or bolt action rifles would have certainly bagged one,” said Lal while highlighting salient feature of the British era rifles, often dubbed as the most deadly weapons.Lal who had successfully undertaken many operations and had neutralised several dreaded dacoits and gangsters said, “The main reason behind success of this weapon could be its ability to sustain UP’s rough terrain and work well even in mud, water and other extreme conditions, we often come across during our day to day working.”In his long tenure in UP police, Lal had seen many gangs of 90s’, which included those of Malkhan, Jhagram Mahaveera and others but none of them could challenge .303 rifles.“It was during my posting from 1986 to 1988 in Pilibhit district of UP as superintendent of police (SP), police had received a report that a few militants associated to Harjinder Singh Jinda’s militant group had to drop their plan to rob a bank near Puranpur police station when they found (during recce) that the constables at the police stations were all equipped with .303 rifles while they had pistols and carbines,” he recalled. The .303 rifle was introduced to UP Police in 1945.“Though the change is indeed the need of the hour, these sturdy, heavy duty rifles that were manufactured during world wars I and II, would certainly be missed”, he added. The fan list not only includes officers but also constables.Saroj Kumar Mishra, who was inducted into UP police force as a constable in 1982 said, “In those times, patrolling used to be done on a bi-cycle. And carrying the heavy approx-5kg-weapon on the bi-cycle used to be the most uncomfortable task during my initial days into police. But over the years, my perception towards .303 rifle changed and this 5kg weight became a part of my life.”“I must say that my .303, which I kept for around 23 years, is my first love. And it will be missed,” said Saroj, presently posted as sub inspector (SI) with Gagha police station in Gorakhpur district of UP.Saroj said that it was not only its accuracy but also its sturdiness that made it the most favourite weapon among constables. “The weapon is as smooth as butter even after 20 rounds of back to back firing, this feature is perhaps the most important one which we often miss in the modern day weapons.”ADG logistics VK Maurya said that on January 26, the British era rifles would be officially decommissioned from UP police after its display during the Republic Day parade. 1 ITEM NO.3 COURT NO.11 SECTION IX S U P R E M E C O U R T O F I N D I A RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS SPECIAL LEAVE PETITION (CIVIL) Diary No(s). 9581/2018 (Arising out of impugned final judgment and order dated 08-12-2017 in AL No. 423/2017 passed by the High Court of Judicature at Bombay) KAMAL ANANT KHOPKAR Petitioner(s) VERSUS DR ASHISH SIDHRAM HANKARE Respondent(s) (WITH APPLN.(S) FOR CONDONATION OF DELAY IN FILING AND REFILING AND EXEMPTION FROM FILING C/C OF THE IMPUGNED JUDGMENT) WITH W.P.(C) No. 1517/2018 (X) (WITH IA No.186057/2018-PERMISSION TO FILE LENGTHY LIST OF DATES) Date : 18-02-2019 These matters were called on for hearing today. CORAM : HON'BLE DR. JUSTICE D.Y. CHANDRACHUD HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE HEMANT GUPTA For Petitioner(s) Ms. Meenakshi Arora, Sr. Adv. Ms. Buva Mrunal Dattatraya, Adv. Mr. Salunkhe Dhairyashil D., Adv. Mr. Anantha Narayana M.G., AOR Mr. Manu T. Ramachandran, AOR For Respondent(s) Dr. Sumant Bharadwaj, Adv. Mr. Y.R. Mishra, Adv. Ms. Mridula Ray Bharadwaj, AOR Ms. Rinchen Wangmo, Adv. Mr. Vedant Bharadwaj, Adv. UPON hearing the counsel the Court made the following O R D E R SPECIAL LEAVE PETITION (CIVIL) Diary No(s). 9581/2018 Delay condoned. The petitioner and the respondent have settled the dispute in the course of a mediation through the auspices of Ms. Meenakshi Arora, learned senior counsel. 2 The Court records its appreciation of the valuable assistance rendered by Ms. Meenakshi Arora, learned senior counsel in enabling this family dispute to be settled. We appreciate the fair stand taken by the parties as a result of which the dispute has been settled. The consent terms signed by the parties and by the respective advocates are taken on the record. They have been filed together with the compilation of additional documents. There shall be an order in terms of the consent terms. As and by way of a consequential order, we direct that: (i) The parties shall cooperate with each other in duly effecting the consent terms and shall sign all relevant deeds and documents required to implement them; and (ii) All concerned authorities shall act on the consent terms which have been accepted by this Court. The Special Leave Petition is disposed of. Pending application, if any, stands disposed of. W.P.(C) No. 1517/2018 The Writ Petition under Article 32 of the Constitution has been instituted in order to challenge the constitutional validity of Section 15 of the Hindu Succession Act, 1956 on the ground that there is a 3 discrimination in the devolution of the estate of a woman who dies intestate, in comparison with the rules for devolution where a male has died intestate. In the case of a male Hindu dying intestate, the provisions of Section 8 of the Hindu Succession Act, 1956 apply. The contention of the petitioner is that where a female Hindu dies intestate, the property would devolve first upon the sons and daughters and the husband and then on the heirs of the husband and it is only thereafter that the mother and the father are recognized. Section 16 specifies that among the heirs referred to under sub-Section (1) of Section 15, those in one entry are to be preferred to those in any succeeding entry. On the other hand, in the case of a male Hindu dying intestate, Section 8 stipulates that the estate will first devolve upon the relatives specified in Class I of the Schedule. The Writ Petition initially came up with a Special Leave Petition, which was filed by the petitioner against an order of the Bombay High Court rejecting her caveat on the ground that she did not have a caveatable interest in the property of her deceased daughter, during the life time of the spouse of the deceased. During the course of the hearing, the parties attempted to explore the possibility of a settlement. The dispute has been settled with the intervention of learned senior counsel. Hence, the Special Leave 4 Petition has been disposed of by an order passed today. However, the Writ Petition which has been instituted before this Court under Article 32 raises an important question of gender equality and, hence, we are inclined to issue notice. Issue notice returnable in four weeks. A copy of the Writ Petition be served on the office of the Learned Attorney General for India. We have requested Ms. Meenakshi Arora, learned senior counsel to continue to assist this Court. (SANJAY KUMAR-I) (SAROJ KUMARI GAUR) AR-CUM-PS COURT MASTER Note :- With great respect to their Highness - I felt that there is no discrimination of gender between Sec.8 and Sec.15 of Hindu Succession Act. As a matter of fact - Woman get properties from two sources - one was from her parents and another was from her husband. In the absence of immeidate successors like children and husband - the property fell to her parents or their successors if it was acquired by her from her parents or In the absence of immeidate successors like children and husband - if the property fell to her by her husband, it goes to husband's successors . In my view this an advantage but not discrimination . we can not find this advantage under Sec.8 - every thing goes to male successors only - even if the property was given by his parent in laws - the person or their successors have no recognition in the eye of law .
