From the Vedic period through modern times of Hindu traditions, everybody from musicians to scientists pray to her for guidance. ‘Vasant Panchami’ is celebrated every year on the 5th day or ‘Panchami’ of the bright fortnight of the lunar month of Magha in the name of Goddess Saraswati as it is believed that on this day Saraswati was born. Hindus celebrate Vasant Panchami with great fervor in temples, homes and even schools and colleges. Goddess Saraswati’s favorite color WHITE assumes special significance on this day. Statues of the Goddess are dressed in white clothes and are worshiped by devotees adorning white garments. How Can You Do the Holy Laxmi Puja At Home?
The worshipping of Goddess Lakshmi is done after following a lot of rules and rituals and with the best premium puja kits online. To know more, read this.
The occasion of Laxmi puja falls on Amavasya or the new moon day, on the dark fortnight of Ashwin. The day is considered very auspicious, Goddess Laxmi is worshipped with full spiritual emotion on this day. The origins of the word Laskmi finds its root from “Lakshya” meaning “goal”. By semantic implications, Lakshmi is the goddess of the “supreme goal”. Many other people believe that the word Lakshmi has originated from Laksha which means “a hundred thousand or lakhs”. This is the reason why the goddess Lakshmi signifies the power of wealth.
The worshipping of Goddess Lakshmi at home is done with online puja samagri and the tradition passes from one generation to the next. The Lakshmi puja vidhi is done with great devotion, usually to bring in lots of joy, happiness and prosperity within the household. Lakshmi puja is a puja done to five deities- Lord Ganesha, Lord Kuber and the three other forms of Maa Lakshmi who are Maha Saraswati, Maha Lakshmi & Mahakali.
Tumblr media
How is the Puja Done?
To get the blessings of Goddess Laxmi, one has to buy premium puja kits online and keep the house and the entire surroundings clean. This is because “Cleanliness is Godliness”. The happier the Lord Laxmi is, the more blessings do she bestow upon all.
The puja begins after bringing a new Pratima of Goddess Laxmi at home, after buying from puja shopping online. The process begins with conducting a Dhyana or the meditation of Bhagawati Lakshmi. This meditation should be done in front of the already installed idol or statue. One has to chant this mantra after that:-
“Ya Sa Padmasanastha Vipul-Kati-Tati Padma-Patrayatakshi, Gambhirartav-Nabhih Stana-Bhara-Namita Shubhra-Vasttariya। Ya Lakshmirdivya-Roopairmani-Gana-Khachitaih Svapita Hema Kumbhaih, Sa Nityam Padma-Hasta Mam Vasatu Grihe Sarva-Maangalya-Yukta॥”
The mantra praises Lord Lakshmi, sitting on the Lotus flower. Her eyes are big and beautiful as the petals of the lotus flower. Through the mantra, the worshipper then pleads to her to dwell in their house forever.
After the Dhyan, Aavahan is done – a method of welcoming her into the household. A big offering is made to her through flowers of her choice. All this has to be done with proper online puja items and only after the worshipper has taken a bath at the break of the dawn. Next, an offering named Arghya is made to the goddess in the form of giving her water for head Abhishekham. A mantra is also chanted alongside. The statue is then bathed (known as Snana). There is also the Panchamrita Snana which is done in a similar manner with puja saman. One now has to dress up the idol with new clothes, offer her honey and milk, deck her up with precious jewellery and then apply red sandalwood tilak to Shri Lakshmi.
In the afternoon, the parvanshraddha is done which is a kind of ritual for the souls who have departed. A Brahmaṇbhojan is also arranged. In the evening, Goddess Lakshmi, Deity Vishnu along with the others are worshipped. Special lamps are lit everywhere and the day is enjoyed.
The place where one has planned to install the statue of Lakshmi, a Swastik should be drawn with consecrated rice bought while puja shopping online. A Naivedya is also offered which is made with a mixture of coagulated cow’s milk (khava), cardamom, cloves and sugar.
To buy items for Lakshmi puja from the popular puja store online, one can visit “PujaShoppe” which sells all kinds of traditional puja samagri for all festivals.

Durga - the goddess of power and strength, is perhaps the most important goddess of the Hindus. She is a multi-dimensional Goddess, with many names, many personas, and many facets. As Mahishasuramardini or Shakti, she is the destroyer of evil - with her ten mighty arms carrying lethal weapons she triumphantly slays the demon Mahishasura. As Sati, beloved daughter of King Daksha and Queen Menaka she gives up a kingdom and earns her father's wrath. As Kali, she turns black as the night and omnipotent, terrible in rage and fury, with just a string of skulls as her garland and her only garb. As Parvati, she is serene, the pretty consort of Lord Shiva by his side in the snowy peaks of the Kailash mountain. She is Bhawani, symbol of life. She is Sati, the object of death. She is Basanti, the heralder of springtime. She is also Amba, Jagadhatri, Tara, Ambika, Annapurna. Durga, through all her forms, encompasses the essence of salvation and sacrifice. She is the mother of bounty and wealth, as also of beauty and knowledge, for her daughters are Lakshmi and Saraswati (Hindu goddesses of wealth and knowledge, respectively). She is the embodiement of purity, knowledge, truth and self-realization. The highest form of truth present in any being or Jiva is known as "Aatman" or supreme consciousness. This supreme consciousness or the absolute soul is infinite, birthless, deathless, beyond time and space, and beyond the law of causation. Goddess Durga is the inherent dynamic energy through which this supreme consciousness manifests itself. The Sanskrit word Durga means a fort, or a place that is protected and thus difficult to reach. Durga, also called Divine Mother, protects mankind from evil and misery by destroying evil forces such as selfishness, jealousy, prejudice, hatred, anger, and ego. Her extremely fair complexion is similar to a white conch, the moon or Jasmine flower. It is believed that Maa Mahagauri always remains eight years old. Goddess Mahagauri Had Performed Severe Penance To Have Lord Shiva As Her Consort
As per the traditional story, Goddess Parvati practiced the most severe penance with the desire to have Lord Shiva as her divine consort. As a result of the severe penance, the colour of her body became black. Lord Shiva was highly pleased by her penance, and thus he washed Mata Parvati's body with the holy water of river Ganga.
