My Dear Friend and President, Donald,

Silence. I love it. I sit in it for an hour with my Friends on Sunday mornings. I love it when I can hear the tummy rumblings of my neighbor due to the absence of other sounds to drown it out. To just be. That's bliss. I listen for it at odd moments of the day and relish the tranquility when I find it.

So, imagine my delight when you were silent about Kim Yo Jong's invitation to Moon Jae-In to make a visit to Pyongyang. No Twitters. No comments to the press. Sarah Hucakbee Sanders hasn't spoken about it. This is so unlike you! I love it. I encourage you to continue to refrain. Please allow the world to enjoy the Olympics without threats of war, violence, and "bloody nose strikes."

According to the Washington Post, the South Koreans are quite intrigued by Kim Yo Jong in the same way that folks in the USA are fascinated by Ivanka.  They are surprised by her modest clothing and lack of make-up. They think she's attractive, has good posture and fine manners. She hasn't said much. She just smiles a lot.

I think she's in South Korea to show those young folks that North Koreans are a lot like them. Same phenotype, same language, same ethnic heritage, same customs. It's hard to vilify people similar to oneself. If they like Kim Yo Jong, they may be more open to reunification. It's a simplistic strategy, but I prefer it to what North Korea did to disrupt the 1988 Olympics in Seoul when they blew up a plane.
