Six Sentence Sunday

This week has been (slightly) better than the last, only now apparently I have gallstones and might need surgery. Which, if that gives perspective to how bad LAST week was, at least with surgery I get some time off work.

Anyway, how about a little sapphic Hellcheer while I ignore the literal pain in my side?

Chrissy looks away. Licks her lips and mumbles a goodnight as she heads across the lot to the car that got her across the country but might not get her much further.  When she checks her rearview mirror, she sees Eddie’s mouth on Marianne’s mouth and Eddie’s hand on Marianne’s ass and wants to scream and maybe reverse the car into them and pin them against the building and tell Eddie that it’s her she should be kissing because she’d be so good. So sweet. So eager to please. So desperately enamored that she’d get down on her knees for a taste.

These two are damaged goods who can't see past each other and when they fuck they are going to fuck nasty but I have to get them there first.

“Wait-” Chrissy croaks, not ready for Nancy to leave just yet. She needs to ask. “What about… him? The monster.” 

She half expects Nancy to call her crazy. To somehow dispute the evidence of her broken limbs, the burning corners of her eyes, because how can it be true? How can monsters like him, exist outside of her dreams?

“We burnt his body, but it wasn't enough.” Nancy answers, curling her lips in distaste. “We'll do better next time.” It sounds like a promise.

When she reaches the door, the undulating shriek of an ambulance passes outside once more, painting her face in its flashing light. For the first time tonight she looks... hesitant.

“Oh, um, If they ask –“ She starts, before changing course, “Just, don't say anything about Munson. Please.” her voice sounds off, like it hurts, even saying the name.

“Why? Is Eddie in trouble?”

Her smile, black lipstick sharp against white teeth.

“You know, this isn't the first time we've hung out.”Her fingers, twisting around the key in the ignition, the roar of music as the engine comes to life.

Her hands, their touch echoing into another dimension as they shake her, as her voice becomes more and more distressed, ”Chrissy – Chrissy wake up!”

The ambulance has passed, and she can't see Nancy's face any more, but her body stills in a way that makes Chrissy's stomach drop.

“Nancy?”

“I'm sorry,” She says, her voice uncharacteristically soft. “She didn't make it out.”
