Chrissy watches all this go down from along the wall of the Hawkins Youth Center, a nearly-windowless slab of concrete that hasn’t been renovated since 1983, if Chrissy is being charitable. It was Vicky who asked her to join her for the summer Battle of the Bands event, a concert, sorry, show that cost $5 to get in and featured no less than eight local bands competing for the grand prize of a $150 voucher for Bennet’s Music Discount World.

Six Sentence Sunday

This week has been (slightly) better than the last, only now apparently I have gallstones and might need surgery. Which, if that gives perspective to how bad LAST week was, at least with surgery I get some time off work.

Anyway, how about a little sapphic Hellcheer while I ignore the literal pain in my side?

Chrissy looks away. Licks her lips and mumbles a goodnight as she heads across the lot to the car that got her across the country but might not get her much further.  When she checks her rearview mirror, she sees Eddie’s mouth on Marianne’s mouth and Eddie’s hand on Marianne’s ass and wants to scream and maybe reverse the car into them and pin them against the building and tell Eddie that it’s her she should be kissing because she’d be so good. So sweet. So eager to please. So desperately enamored that she’d get down on her knees for a taste.

These two are damaged goods who can't see past each other and when they fuck they are going to fuck nasty but I have to get them there first.

honestly the first thing that came to mind was a league of their own and i was thinking like eddie as tom hanks and chrissy as geena davis but let's be real, eddie is just not a baseball player.

sapphic hellcheer though...

chrissy only tries out because nancy wants to and chrissy can't let her go to tryouts alone. they both make it through the first round, but when teams are picked, they get split up.

eddie, on the other hand, ends up on the same team as chrissy and from the get-go, chrissy knows she's the kind of girl that her mother would immediately disapprove of and therefore tries to steer clear of her at all costs.

but during the late night bus rides, everyone else always seems to be able to sleep no problem except for chrissy and eddie. at first, eddie gives her space because she's not dumb, she's been dealing with people thinking they know everything about her from just one look all her life and she thinks chrissy isn't any different. but she sees how chrissy acts with the other girls, how lovely and compassionate and good she is, so one night she decides ah what the hell and strikes up a conversation.

the thing is, they're both good at what they do. chrissy tries to downplay it, even during games, which eddie calls her out on because why the hell are you playing like a girl when you can play like a guy? by the end of their first conversation, chrissy promises to give the next game her all, and eddie tells her she'll be watching to make sure.

they get closer and closer as days go by, so much that whispers start going around not only their team but the others in the league. eddie tells chrissy to pay no mind to it, but it's hard. deep down, chrissy knows her feelings toward eddie have changed but she doesn't know how or if she should act on them.
