Are there any champions from Piltover/Zaun or beyond, who didn't show up in s1 of Arcane, who you'd like to see in s2? Both from a “this character would work really well with the story” perspective, and a “I just really like this champion” perspective.
Mm... I'm really wary about introducing more characters, honestly. Arcane's first season was already absolutely crammed to the gills with characters and one of my criticisms of Season 1 is that while everything that was in it was very very good, it was also so incredibly dense that the audience barely has time to breathe.
It's the kind of delicate balance where it feels like they just barely had the time and space to tell the stories of the main ensemble, and introducing more champions into that mix might make it all tip over.
That said, they do have the advantage that all the introductions and worldbuilding have basically been done now, and there's probably room to introduce one or two more characters to shake things up.
Instinctively I want to say Camille, except it makes no bloody sense why she'd only turn up in Season 2 and have been a complete non-presence in Season 1. Like, there was some shit happening that she should have been involved with in the first season.
Renata Glasc is an option. Zaun is going to have a big power vacuum and she would slot in very nicely as the new major power in the undercity. On the other hand, she's also perhaps a little bit too much like Silco 2.0, being partly based on him in the first place, and I think there's a solid argument for bringing the chembarons from season 1 back to fight with each other instead. Especially since one of them has a literal death vendetta against Jayce now.
Then there's Orianna, who in this canon seems to be Singed's... daughter? Some kind of family member? If all of Singed's research in the first season was about trying to find a way to save her life or bring her back to life, then she'd be a natural character to use to expand on Singed as a character in season 2. I think she'd have to be substantially redesigned, though - "music box ballerina" would be a weird thing for Singed to want to build her into.
Seraphine and Zeri are non-starters, I think, primarily because they are both mages, which would make absolutely no sense in the Arcane universe. Like, it is kind of important to the plot of Arcane that mages are essentially as rare as cryptids in this world. Same reason I don't think they'd introduce something like Janna either. She's a literal demigod, it would raise too many unanswerable questions.
There's no reason to bring in Ezreal, Zac, or Dr. Mundo, but Urgot is... not out of the question. He's the kind of relentlessly dogmatic, bloodthirsty cult leader that would make sense as a figure in the chaos and violence of the war that's likely to erupt. Twitch could also cameo, I suppose, but only as a cameo, I don't think it makes sense to make him a central character.
Outside of Piltover and Zaun, I'd say the main champions we are likely to encounter would be Swain or Darius (Darius specifically was most likely teased by Ambessa), and if Darius shows up there's a greater than average chance he'll have Draven with him. It's not impossible that Samira could show up for a bit of a cameo, as some kind of Noxian bounty hunter getting in the way of things. Katarina and Talon are... not impossible, I suppose, Noxus is probably going to want to assassinate someone, but I also doubt they'd introduce a champion character to fill that role in the narrative. It'd be wasteful.
If Noxus is making moves, of course, there's a non-zero chance that there'll be like a Demacian diplomat at some meeting, which... makes it possible that Xin Zhao or Garen might cameo, and if Noxus wants Piltover's technology to prosecute their war in Ionia, hey, maybe there will be Ionian diplomat characters showing up to plead their case, which opens the distant possibility of someone like Irelia or Shen showing up.
I very, very much doubt it though.
tl;dr in my opinion:
Most likely new champions: Darius, Swain, Orianna, and Warwick (Warwick being Vander)
Not impossible: Twitch, Urgot, Renata Glasc, Draven, Camille
Extremely small Easter Egg cameos at best: Xin Zhao/Garen/Jarvan, Irelia/Shen/Karma, Azir (Shurima is Piltover's southern neighbor), Miss Fortune/Gangplank (Piltover controls the sea gate and trade between two oceans), Ziggs (Heimerdinger's best friend), Ryze (the science boys are starting to fuck with World Rune-level magic hazards), Vel'koz (might show up in a Void vision inside the Hexcore or something).

I read HMT and watched season 1 for a literature class and I was the only one who liked the book and hated the show but it felt like it took out a bunch of meaningful stuff…
like when one of the actresses said “well we have more poc in the show because it should’ve been more diverse” but the whole point was that Gilead was white supremacist… or giving offred a completely different personality? stuff like that just bothered me, ykwim?
mm this is interesting. I won't lie, I think with all shows that are based on books, sometimes changes can be made to the show that don't necessarily make it 'better' than the book, but make it better as a show, and I kind of thought not having an all-white cast was a plus for the show in the same way making a point about a white fundamentalist christian ethnostate was a plus for the book. I guess they could have had nonwhite actors play parts in the colonies (isn't this where loads of people are sent in the book?), but idk I kind of think the show stretches believability at points anyway in the way the book didn't and the idea they'd give up the opportunity to potentially have more children just because they weren't white seems silly to me when looked at from the show's perspective. just my opinion though ofc. I also really like samira wiley as moira lmao. I do agree with you though that what the actress said misses that point of the book though, it's supposed to be taking a distinctly extremist white american viewpoint and running with it to its conclusion, and that obviously means there will be segregation and racism in the book's world
I can't really remember offred's personality in the book, it's been too many years since I've read it. I guess they've had to really flesh out side characters in general bc I don't remember many of the other handmaids being this important in the book (like ofglen was not this prominent?) so I guess they did that w her too. I sort of feel the show lacks this distinct haunting quality that comes from not quite knowing enough though but well. idk how they could've replicated that lol. I dislike all the moments that sort of make it feel like the hunger games though daksdkas

“Thank you!” Ian answered brightly. “I really liked my scales. Here! I’ll send it to you right now.” He looked through his comms for her contact, and sure enough, there she was. It was exciting to see her name pop up. Picture properly sent off, Ian dropped his comm behind him and answered the rest of her questions. The vote of confidence on being able to befriend Kyle was nice, although he wondered if the statement would be rescinded when they did meet. “Yeah, just when the ship goes super fast. We’ve come into some interesting technology that helps us reach planets in like, a couple days as opposed to weeks or months. But I don’t think my body or djayyar bodies like it, because we kind of blend physical attributes together whenever it happens. Stella and I glow like Samira or Ali, and in turn they have the ticking.” Forgetting that he hadn’t ever explained the ticking, or Samira or Ali, Ian moved on from that immediately.
“And I haven’t figured out how to turn it off yet. The campout was great! I didn’t stay there all night, but I did stay for a long time and we talked stories and feelings and stuff. Yeah, I could hear their thoughts, though I’m well out of range of them now. It was fun to have a tree talk to me. And vice-versa. And then…mm…oh. Yeah! 71% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water,” Ian supplied. “They have some really pretty beaches and oceans. And we were docked on Sturn for a few months; they have canals you can swim from place to place like streets. But swimming. I’m not sure what ocean planets we’ll go to next,” Ian finished. His eyes met hers, and he reached over and touched her pink hair. “But what have you been up to, Mari? There’s no way completely moving planets over the last year has been boring.”
More than content with the idea of a sometime-song, Mari listened as Ian told her what they'd been up to, leaning over to look closer at their comm when they pulled the picture up. It was a really good picture, though she did tear her eyes away from it to look at Bev and then back to Ian again as he finished explaining how he and Beverly had met.
"Aww, that's so cute! Beverly's such a sweetheart," Mari said brightly. She really did mean it - it was okay that Beverly didn't act particularly sweetheart-like with her, since Bev was so close with Ian. "I don't know Kyle yet, but I bet you'll be friends with them soon! Or someday. But it sounds like you've been up to a lot either way! Like glowing, wow - is that just when the ship goes super fast, or can you turn it off and on? How was your campout? Were you still able to communicate with the damartrekt tree 'cause of being able to share thoughts? What kinds of ocean planets do you think we'll go to? I heard that Earth has a lot of water, is that true? Also, this is a really good picture. Can you send it to my comm? I have it --" she dug into her pocket, "-- here! It's okay if you just wanna keep the picture for yourself. But I like your scales, very shiny!"

Where do you think Maria di Angelo and Esperanza Valdez went to? (your reblog inspired this)
oh i don't know 🤔 i don't think pjo actually explored what happens if you're not a demigod, or if you don't go to the elysium. like in pjo at least, not every demigod ends up there anyway, and it's usually related to like, some great heroic thing. i think this also depends on their personal religious views, if any! i mean, if you're a certain religion but then you meet a greek god then what are you supposed to do? lavinia and samira for example, face this but idk how grown adults who get close to a god and then have kids who are part-gods, and then consequently killed because of that are going to feel. hmm anyway idk, this question also goes into my personal beliefs, which don't matter, but mm it's interesting to think about i guess, cause they're not going to elysium
#asks#anon#unless the gods manipulate it and then the birth of the kids count as some grand deed but thst in itself is awful lol bad connotations

Samira decided to give the fmoople juice a try. "Mm. This one is much better than the other one." No weird aftertaste. Still, she wasn't a juice person so she didn't feel incline to actually buy any. She handed Marshall back the cup and listened to her talk about what she remembered from the market. She smiled warmly, imagining a tiny Marshall - and her tinier sister - running around market. She always had a soft spot for children, even before she had children of her own. "How precious. I think you should still get to receive unofficial free samples, but what can you do," she joked. She looked at Marshall with a curious expression when Marshall told her she wanted to ask her something. "Of course," she gave the cue for Marshall to say whatever she needed to say.
"Mm, maybe not," Marshall chuckled, handing it back to her, then taking a sip of her own drink to remove the taste of the one prior to it. "This one's pretty good," she offered her fmoople juice sample for Samira to try in exchange. Then she was asking about some childhood memories, and it was really sweet that she wanted to ask, that she wanted to know more about her as a child. Smiling to herself, Marshall thought for a moment. "I don't remember a lot; but I do remember the stalls and everyone being a lot bigger," she joked. "I think Holly--the sister who's two years younger than me--and I would try to run around and take samples from every table. Obviously we were adorable, so we may have received some samples that weren't free for everyone else." Saying all this reminded her of her message from her dads, and that she'd been meaning to talk with Samira. Was the market the best place for it? Maybe; Samira could easily run in the other direction if she desired. "Actually--I wanted to get your thoughts and possibly ask you something. Something that you can very much say no to," she expressed.

Supermodel Lais Ribeiro talks passion and purpose.
Embroidered dress, $13,900, and embroidered dress with swan print, $5,500, both at Burberry Luxury District; Samira hoops, $650, and Stripe ring, $200, both at Jennifer Fisher; L’Arc de Davidor ring GM with Palais diamonds, $11,050, at L’Arc de Davidor
Lais Ribeiro is one of the most hardworking models on the planet. She’s walked countless runways (Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, among others) and has been photographed for high-fashion glossies all over the world. But today, she’s laughing and chatting with me about her 11-year-old son Alexandre’s obsession with TikTok and her deep love of guacamole. She’s got that kind of pure and genuine energy that is infectious—the kind of energy that just makes you want to become her best friend. And after speaking with her for only a few minutes, it becomes very clear to me why her success has lasted more than a decade. Sure, she has the face and body of a goddess, but it’s her attitude of gratitude that has given her career such longevity. A lot of that, she says, she owes to becoming a mother in 2008, when she was just 18 years old. “I’m thankful that I was a mom before I started modeling,” she says. “I have so many things going on, but he makes me feel grounded and has given me a purpose in life. I’m doing this for him. I want him to be proud of me and I want to give him the best life possible.”
Tulle dress, tulle top, silk belt and wool and silk pants, all price upon request, at Louis Vuitton, Luxury District; Arya sandals, price upon request, at Giuseppe Zanotti, Luxury District; Curb Chain necklace, $17,500, at David Yurman, Bal Harbour Shops.
A year after giving birth to her son, Ribeiro was studying to become a nurse in her hometown of Miguel Alves in the northeast region of Brazil. But little did she know that her studies were about to be put on hold—indefinitely. Ribeiro was chosen by modeling scouts to walk in the Sao Paulo and Rio Fashion Week runways, and from there it was straight to New York Fashion Week. She relocated to New York City in 2009 to pursue what would become a very successful modeling career. “It was tough,” she says of being away from her son. “We spent five years separated because I was just starting out and I didn’t have the setup to have him here [in NYC], so he had to stay with my family in Brazil,” she says. “When I brought him here, it was one of the happiest days of my life.”
Pajama suit jacket, $2,290, pajama suit pants, $1,190, and sheepskin mules, $895, all at Balenciaga, Design District.
These days life is pure bliss for Ribeiro, who is in the midst of planning her upcoming nuptials to fiance and NBA baller Joakim Noah. (They’ll tie the knot in Brazil this summer. “It’ll be a party!” she promises.) But Ribeiro is also working toward a cause that’s very close to her heart. In 2013, her son was diagnosed with autism, and she’s made it her goal to use her platform to raise awareness and compassion. Because, as she tells me during our chat, her most important job is being a mother. Here, Ribeiro shares her inspiring journey to success, and how she finds balance as a supermodel and a supermom.
Mesh embroidered caftan, price upon request, at Mary Katrantzou; Bebe sandals, $995, at Giuseppe Zanotti, Brickell City Centre; Triangle earring 30, $758, by Shihara at The Webster, South Beach; Diagonal Stripe ring, $295, at Jennifer Fisher.
Tell us about your hometown of Miguel Alves in Brazil.
I am in love with Brazil. I grew up by the river. We don’t have a beach in my hometown. Still to this day I take Alexandre there. We do fires by the river, and we fish with family and my best friends who I grew up with. I try to go back twice a year.
Take us back to the beginning of your modeling career. What was your first big break?
I was going to school to be a nurse. But a friend of mine was a model and told me about a contest they were doing in Sao Paulo. I didn’t think I had a chance because in the north, the [models] were very tall and thin. I didn’t think they’d be interested in Brazilians. But my friend insisted, and then the scouters from Sao Paulo came down [to my hometown] and chose me. Everything happened really fast. I stayed in Sao Paulo for three months. It was tough, because I had already had my kid. I was about to go back home and continue school, but then Fashion Week happened in Sao Paulo and Rio in Brazil. Scouters from New York came to Sao Paulo and they liked me, so I came to New York in 2009. My first job in NYC was Fashion Week, but campaignwise, it was Gap. I remember there was a big Gap store in Union Square, and I saw my face on the windows. I would pass by all the time just to see it because I couldn’t believe it. It was pretty cool.
DNA Spiral maxi dress, $1,250, at Off-White; pumps, $970, at Bottega Veneta, Luxury District; Stripe band pinky ring, $200, and Stripe band ring, $200, both at Jennifer Fisher.
What’s it like to balance your modeling career with motherhood?
I thank God I’m traveling less now. It’s still a little complicated, but he understands that Mama is working hard for the future and he’s proud. I miss him a lot when I travel, but it’s always so good to come home to him. He’s always so happy. He’s a very special one.
You also opened up on Instagram about his autism diagnosis. April is Autism Awareness Month. How can we get involved?
I always wanted to be involved with a charity that made sense for me, and I am working with my agency to put something together to use my voice for a good cause, especially because of my son. We have to understand more of what their needs are. I have to understand more. That’s why we’re trying to put something together and work closely with a charity that brings awareness to everyone. It’s in the process.
You have more than 2 million followers on Instagram. What’s it like to share such a big moment with so many people?
It’s crazy. Technology and Instagram play a very big role in our lives, and it can be good for us to have a voice. I try to post pictures of natural moments, not only professional moments, because I want people to know me, my personality, that I have a son, that I work, that I have fun. I think it’s pretty cool that we can inspire people to do good things. But it can also consume a lot of our time, so I try to balance that.
Denim jacket, $995, and striped blouse, $2,350, both at Versace, Design District.
There are a lot of changes happening in the fashion industry since you started modeling in 2009. How do you think the industry is changing for the better?
The industry is slowly learning and changing its perspective of beauty and being more inclusive and diverse. And that makes me really happy. Before it was straightforward. It had to be one way. It’s good for people to see and relate to the people who are in the campaign. I think what’s happening now in the industry is great.
What’s been your favorite experience in your career?
It actually just happened. I filmed a reality TV show in Brazil and it’s about diversity. It’s called Born to Fashion. It’s the same concept of America’s Next Top Model, but with transgender models. It was really beautiful to learn their stories and their struggles. It’s the first TV show in Brazil that’s giving them a voice and allowing them to express themselves and open people’s minds. I’m really excited for that. It’s airing in Brazil this May.
Who is somebody who you want to work with who you haven’t collaborated with yet?
Oh my gosh—there are so many! I was never a makeup girl, but lately I’ve been getting into it. I’ve been doing makeup tutorials on YouTube. I did one recently that was a Carnival look. But during fashion shows, I would always sit in Pat McGrath’s chair and she would do makeup so well. I would love to have a collaboration with her.
Dress, $14,900, at Valentino, Design District; Berry heels, $625, by Pyer Moss x Aurora James at Pyer Moss; necklace, $6,500, at Bottega Veneta, Design District; L’Arc de Davidor ring MM with cognac lacquered ceramic, $1,800, and L’Arc de Davidor ring GM in cognac lacquered ceramic, $2,750, both at L’Arc de Davidor.
How do you prep for a big shoot?
I think being in front of the camera is something that we get used to. As a new face, you’re a little scared. You just have to find yourself—you have to find your confidence and be aware of the people around you. As a model you have to be at peace with yourself and everything else will follow. And skincare is important...
Yes, and your skin is so flawless. How can we achieve that glow?
I use cleansers because I wear a lot of makeup all the time for work. And I love Clarins Hydra-Essentiel lotion. I use it every single day, every time I’m getting out of the shower. And I do the sauna every day as well. It’s really good for the skin, and it’s good for stress and sleeping—everything. And the sun is good for the skin. Be tan!
What does your fitness routine look like?
My favorite workout is Pilates. (I do not like to run!) I love Pilates because it engages every single muscle of your body. I also lift weights here and there, and I train with my fiance. He’s pushing me. It’s been really good to see how focused he is because he’s an athlete. It excites me and I want to do the same. And I love boxing because you have to be present and you don’t think about anything else. You’re just there.
Diamante sleeveless dress, $1,790, and crystal harness, $690, both at JW Anderson; sandals, price upon request, by Kenzo at Neiman Marcus, Bal Harbour Shops; L’Arc de Davidor ring GM with cognac lacquered ceramic, $2,750, at L'Arc de Davidor; Stripe ring, $200, at Jennifer Fisher.
Speaking of your fiance, do you have a wedding date set?
Oh boy. I’ve been planning! My dream wedding will be at the beach in Brazil next summer. I’ve been thinking about it a lot, and the list is just getting bigger and bigger, which scares me. We have almost everything settled now. We have friends all over the world and it’s a little hard to get everybody together, but we are working on it. But I promise you, it’ll be really fun!
What do you love to do when you’re in Miami?
Sip a margarita on the beach! I also love to get sushi at Azabu.
Your mantra for 2020?
Be present. Live in the moment because you never know what is going to happen tomorrow.
Lais Up Close

The show you’re binge-watching? Grace and Frankie. They’re so funny!
Hidden talents? Volleyball. I play really well. See, I’m so humble!
Last movie that made you cry? The Joker.
What stresses you out? I’m such a Libra. I don’t like when people are unfair. I like balance and justice.
What relaxes you? Hanging out and playing with my kid.
What’s the emoji you most commonly use? The emoji that’s crying and laughing tears. Or the salsa dancer.
What’s the weirdest app that you have on your phone? My son has so many apps on my phone, it’s crazy. He’s obsessed with TikTok. It’s very creative.
First thing you thought when your alarm went off this morning? I was thinking that my trainer told me to wake up too early and I was a little bit mad at him!
Celeb crush? My fiance. I’m an engaged woman! What are you trying to do?
Cheat meal? French fries. Pizza. Pasta. And guacamole! If I see it, it’s gone. I can’t resist guacamole.

Samira was glad to hear Marshall wasn't in a rush, either. A small, coquettish smirk formed on her lips. "Mm, a couple of things come to mind already. In due time," she spoke as she reached out to brush Marshall's curls from her face and tucked the strands behind her ear. If she were two centuries younger, she'd jump right into what popped in her imagination. But talking would have to do until she recharged a bit. She lightly brushed her fingers against Marshall's jawline as she retracted her hand from her face.
"... I must confess that I've been overthinking some things about our arrangement." Her expression turned more serious. "It's been a long time since I've made friends, and an even longer time I've had friends I sleep with. I've had people I sleep with, but not as friends. Friendship has become too personal for me - but, well, I suppose it couldn't be helped this time around." Briefly, she smiled at the last bit, but then her solemn expression returned. "Before I start rambling, let me get to the point. I would like to make sure there isn't any point where you feel like I'm using you in any capacity. I value your friendship very much. And I will never see you as a simple means of release - as lovely as a benefit that is. But it's important to me you never feel like you're seen as just a 'thing' -" She was clearly speaking from experience. "- and I would never forgive myself if I ever made you feel like you were anything less than my friend, even if unintentional."
The past few months had been difficult for Marshall to keep Samira from her mind while she worked, while she relaxed, while she was doing anything, really. She knew that was dangerous, and while the djayyar was very easy to talk to and her best friend on the ship, what was between them beyond that was purely physical, nothing more. They were both reasonable people and knew where the line was. So it was nice that it was all just. Uncomplicated. Freeing. Though, the largest feeling that slipped through Marshall’s body and brain, at the moment, was overwhelming bliss. And then, Samira was moving off of her, laying down next to her. She was gorgeous, clearly, and Marshall strongly suspected she was aware of this fact. She didn’t voice this, but it didn’t stop her from tracing every curve of her with her warm violet eyes.
Marshall leaned over and kissed her shoulder in answer, her curls falling of its own volition over her face. Then she shook her head. “I still have a few hours,” she assured Samira, glancing quickly at the alarm clock to make certain that was correct. Yes. “I don’t mind staying around as long as you’ll have me.” She was nothing like a typical hookup, and Marshall was never gunning for the door afterwards. “Though I can’t imagine what we could do to occupy our time together,” she added a bit coyly.

Conláed paused for a moment, slowly turning to look over at Samira as she had otherwise barged into his office while he was enjoying artistic chaos. His hair up in a messy bun, paint on his cheek as he blinked a few times and looked back at the abstract art he was working on. He looked back to the brunette, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. “ ... Does it really look so... odd?”
His words were hesitant, scratching his cheek slightly before he bit his lower lip. His gaze returned to the painting at hand, looking it over for a moment. It was absolute chaos, but there was some sentience to it. The vague outline of Leviathan coiled around a floating piece of terrain that Ifrit stood upon, roaring to the night sky. It was still a mess of colors without extreme detail, but... it was getting there. “ ... Hmm... Perhaps my distraction was just that... Was there something you needed, Sam?”
