Can we get a list of everyone who crawls around like the silly creatures they are?

This is the best ask I’ve ever received. I might make art for it later.

All Salmonids in the “salmonling” (bipedal) stage of their life cycle run swiftly on fours, Salmonids in underground turfwars scuttle and slide on the floor much faster than their running speed, almost as quick as Inkfish in swim form.

Saint walks on fours because they were raised by Salmonids, they’re not very fast because their body isn’t very structured to comfortably walk on fours very long. They do it anyway, because they like to stay low. They also do it when following around creatures smaller than they are, like bugs or the sort. Since they were raised in a salt flat by the water, they’re not adjusted to crawling over certain obstacles. But they tend to stay low and small,,,, animal stance.

Samah can and will run on fours. Samah is a Salmo-Octarian (Aka Octarians who, in the very far past, have joined the Salmonids and hence sort of evolved ever so slightly to accommodate for their life style) so they can crawl with ease. She can scale objects very quickly and scuttles around with (maybe not grace) the speed of typical salmonids. Running is still quicker, but if the terrain gets rough they’ll drop down to escape like a bug.

Alligator doesn’t walk on fours, but she will, and her only reason is because it’s funny to scare people.

Callie probably scuttled about with the MUD ink, quickly, with intent, yet definitely kept tripping over her feet, slowing herself down. Frye and Shiver, in their current states, tend to stay upright, because they represent the upbringing of a new society. But as time passes they tend to chase a little more fiercely, and drop the formality.

headcanons about your neo 3 (s)?

Samah is mixed salmo-octarian (race of Octarians that — long before the great turf war— lived along side salmonids and have a different appearance from regular Octarians, many Inklings mistake and refer to them as Salmonlings… they are NOT salmonlings, they are NOT a hybrid species.) She’s also from the domes, and during her decision to desert, she actually reconnected with her hometown… which is why they found herself incredibly far from Octocanyon… they live in a mountainous tide pool area known as Awa Suma with many other Octarians.

Saint is a bandit that lives with a (large) family of Salmonids… they live in a lawless sort of space between cities, and Troutfish and Crab species tend to use them to retrieve scrap metals or certain supplies in exchange for currency, since Saint is incredibly small in comparison. Saint speaks Salsegal, but because they can’t properly replicate certain growls and clicks that Salmonid’s can more easily replicate, they sound as if they have an accent. Samah can understand them through this “accent”, because to her, it sort of sounds like a slightly warbled Salmo-Octarian dialect.

Samah collects figurines, mostly of cute random cartoon idols, they have no idea who they are; they’re just enamored by them.

Saint dislikes confrontation, yet despite this, is incredible antsy and will start attacking and running if they (overreact) deem the situation dangerous.

Samah enjoys chore-like tasks, it’s one part of the Octarian Army that they miss dearly, especially dismantling and reassembling when cleaning…. They only deserted because the act of fleeing the army became more and more prevalent, and they wanted a life beyond the domes… but they have no grievances with the Octarian Army… they still believe the domes were a necessary prison.

Fido - fried gizzards, burgers, mac n’ cheese, unhealthy greasy junk food or gas station ramen, it’s like a guilty pleasure at this point, he usually survives on those ‘healthy vegan’ tv dinners because he hardly knows how to prepare meals for himself and he worries about his health. (Guy who’s morning routine is eating shredded cheese out the bag brushing his teeth and then sitting outside smoking a cigarette and drinking coffee, “why do I feel like shit all the time”) He likes how filling and delicious home cooked meals are but he loves the listed first few options. They just make him feel like crap afterward .

Buck - he likes sweet fruit desserts, usually, but you’ll win him over with anything that has a cute presentation. He’s not good at baking so he’s always eager to order a dessert when he goes out to eat and chocolate is too sweet for him. I think if you asked him what his favorite food was he’d answer with some expensive salmonid meat product only because it tastes great and it’s not something he’d eat often. But otherwise it’s for sure fruit desserts. (And maybe not super relevant, but. He really likes the taste of green onions and cilantro. 🌿 He also eats a lot of popsicles and other frozen ice creams? He keeps them in the fridge at work since Inkling territory is always so HOT…)

I already rambled about the NSS’s food decisions, but in a nutshell:

July: Sweet fruit (like watermelon or strawberries. Kiwi…)

Alligator: fried junk and anything hearty and meaty; she’s a girl who loves rice… carbs.

Valentine: sweet desserts, but they’ll eat anything. I think alligator has watched her bite one of her rotting house plants before. She will lick a wall if it looks like it has a Taste.

Saint: light foods… rice… unseasoned meat or seaweed flaked on… eggs. Because Octarians have dietary restrictions similar to the dietary choices of wasteland salmonids, usually food cooked by Valentine:

Samah: the same way as Saint, light foods, egg, but dislikes veggies and can sometimes be a little picky. They are overall willing to try anything.
