"LE QUEDO BUFEAITO"
by Don Rimx
"Positioning this enormous treasure trove of urban art amidst one of New England’s most historic, Puritan cities, illustrates how the past and present can merge to create a brighter, more equitable future." — @BayStateBanner
Born and raised in a Puerto Rico public housing development, David Sepulveda, aka Don Rimx, immersed himself in art under the watchful eyes of his parents. Moving to Brooklyn—before eventually landing in Florida—Rimx says the city had a profound affect on his work and the skeletal structures with which he "explores the synthesis of man and his city." Just steps from downtown Salem, MA, the El Punto neighborhood has long provided a home to waves of immigrant populations including a large number of Caribbean workers. In 2017 @NorthShoreCDC launched the Punto @Urban.Art.Museum bringing world class art to the neighborhood and Rimx was on hand to share this work on Peabody St.  @donrimx/

"ANACAONA"
by Ruben Ubiera
Meaning "golden flower" in the Taino language of the Caribbean, Anacaona was born in Haiti into a family of chiefs who ruled when Hispaniola was colonized by the Spanish, and she was celebrated as a composer of ballads and poems. A victim of a massacre of Taino leaders a few years later, Anacaona continues to be revered in the cultures of both Haiti and the Dominican Republic.... Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, neo-figurative artist Ruben Gerardo Ubiera Gonzalez is known for his strong use of line, graffiti inspired technique, urban murals, mixed-media pieces and found object installations. A regular contributor to the @NorthShoreCDC conceived @Urban.Art.Museum in the heavily Dominican Punto neighborhood of Salem, MA, Ubiera created this tribute to Anacaona on Peabody St in 2017.  @urbanruben/

"THE CHROME DOG"
by Bik Ismo
Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico and now based in San Juan, Joshua Santos Rivera, aka Bik Ismo, has been a graffiti artist for more than 20 years and is often referred to as "The Chrome Master." In 2014 Bik Ismo painted a "stunningly photorealistic" Chrome Dog for @theRAWProject_ at the Jose De Diego Middle School in Wynwood, Miami and he says it continues to be his most popular creation. In the years since Bik Ismo has repeatedly picked up on the theme in a variety of ways and in 2017 he painted this Chrome Dog across from the Peabody Street Park in Salem, Massachusetts—created for the @Urban.Art.Museum in the immigrant rich Punto (The Point) neighborhood.  @bikismo/

"EL CAMPESINO"
by Ruben Ubiera
Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Ruben Ubiera's family moved to the Bronx when he was 15 but ended up settling in heavily Dominican The Point—El Punto—community of Salem, Massachusetts when he was a high school freshman. While now living and working in Florida, Ubiera still loves his old neighborhood and several years ago began working alongside other prominent artists and Boston area North Shore Community Development Coalition, adding beauty on the outside of the buildings to match the beauty of the people inside. Organized by @NorthShoreCDC as a result of those efforts, Punto @Urban.Art.Museum has now organized more than 75 murals including several contributions by Ubiera. "The Farmer" was painted in 2017 on Ward St.  @urbanruben/

“CAT WITCH"
by Okuda
"Ethereally aloof, effortlessly diabolic," @DestSalem says cats have long been considered to be potent magical agents and emissaries of several pagan goddesses. When Spanish artist Okuda San Miguel visited the home of the Salem Witch Trials in 2017 to create a Congress St mural for the Punto Urban Art Museum, the cat provided a natural subject for his trademark colorful geometric expression. @Urban.Art.Museum brings world class art to children of The Point neighborhood of Salem and grew out of the efforts of the 40-year-old @NorthShoreCDC organization to lift the many diverse neighborhoods of Boston's North Shore.  @okudart/

"SUPER DALI"
by Sipros
Created in 2017 by @NorthShoreCDC to "break down the invisible, but undeniable socio-economic barrier between the Point Neighborhood and the rest of Salem [Massachusetts]," the Punto @Urban.Art.Museum wasted no time bringing world class art to the community as well as providing locals opportunities to engage with art and artists. Joining the first class of artists to participate Wellington Naberezny, aka Sipros, created this prominent work that could serve as a signature piece for the museum—the artist as superhero prepared to single-handedly knock down those barriers. The São Paulo native has been painting graffiti for more than two decades but his "Big Ears" series and portraits of famous, and not so famous, characters have made him a hit around the world.  @sipros_sipros/

"MIGRAR: 1"
by Felipe Ortiz and Ivan Salazar
Cali, Colombia photographer / designer Ivan Salazar is founder and director of Fundación Culata Arte e Investigación, working with communities to use art for social transformation. Not only passionate about photography, Salazar says he has been exploring ways to use stencil techniques to translate images in large-scale public art installations. Also born and raised in Cali, Felipe Ortiz's family fled the violence of the late '90s. Landing in the U.S., Oriz says the language barrier was what led to spend time drawing by himself. A few years later, on a visit by his late brother who asked "Is this the best you can do?" Ortiz's trajectory as a professional artist was set. In 2018 Ortiz and Salazar teamed up for North Shore Community Development Corporation and the Punto @UrbanArtMuseum in the immigrant-rich The Point neighborhood of Salem, MA to create this visual commentary on migration behind @NorthShoreCDC space on Lafayette Street.  @felipeortizart/  @ivan_salazar_foto/

'THE POINT,' SALEM
by Belin
Born in Linares in Southern Spain, Miguel Ángel Belinchón Bujes, aka Belin, scoured libraries and museums for the information he wanted to inform his work in plastic. With dedicated pursuit of his dream he began painting in the street and his perseverance and skill with spray paint paid off as he made a name for himself around the world. Created by the @NorthShoreCDC in Salem, MA, with the purpose of breaking down socio-economic barriers between Salem's Point neighborhood and the rest of the city the Punto @Urban.Art.Museum has sponsored more than 75 murals and in 2017 Belin was on hand to add this stunning piece of what he refers to as postnewcubism at Harbor and Congress Streets.  @belin_official
