I loved the new chapter! Thank you for publishing it! I’m just wondering how a modern Baldwin and Saladin would act
hmmmmm interestingly, i think modern day Salauddin would be a self made billionaire, probably has his own business he started from the ground. He's still a practising muslim, he still keeps his gaze lowered with the opposite gender, hits the gym so he has good built but not like buff. Rejects proposals left and right (until you came along lol). Still plays chess with you, buys you a whole WARDROBE full of khimars, abayas, niqaabs (if u wear them) but they're made of the finest materials and from luxury brands only. spends a lot of his wealth on charity and especially on gaza and palestine. I also think that he besides horses, he has a black kitten at home that he adores because she's so brooding and he spoils her to no end. he has a cool collection of cars, goes to monaco often for the f1 races (he has his own team too), and he also goes to deserts with his Arabian horses for races and takes part in polo games often (and he's also very good at archery). Chess is something he's reserved to playing with you only.
Moodboard for Salauddin:
Modern day Baldwin would probably inherit his dad's business- he's basically a trust fund baby but he still is very smart and his IQ is off the charts. But he's not like a genius gone crazy. No, no- he's still low key himbo, high key golden retriever bf who has managed to expand the family business 1000000X times. His work rival is Salauddin's company but he's also Salauddin's self proclaimed bestie. I like to think that he goes to church on sundays with the fam and all the ladies are just fawning over him there- and he KNOWS, he's got this charming smile on his face as he passes by them and hears these girls sigh dreamily. Idk why but he also gives off the vibes that he's crazy good at calisthenics or parkour (has given sibylla and his dad multiple heart attacks when they caught him hanging off the edge of the roof), so he's got a good built too. He has a car collection too but he prefers bikes. Oh and his bikes are 👌✨ pookie bear just loves to cruise around the city on his bike with a speed that could possibly lead him to God. also donates a ton, to gaza and palestine too. i also think that since his family is like old money, they more than likely have contacts everywhere including the government. and since they're soooo rich and resourceful, government agencies tend to ask them for help often. so i think that Baldwin with his high ass IQ has done a lot of undercover operations for cia and i also think that he had developed an interest in computers from a young age so he's really good at hacking and stuff, he's got dirt on everyone and everybody and has solved so many cases from the comfort of his home, all while remaining anonymous.

More people will be able to visit the famous Medieval Citadel in Cairo because the government wants to attract more tourists to Egypt.
Egypt announced on Sunday that more people can now visit the Saladin Citadel in Cairo, which is an old fortress that is very tall. The government in Egypt says that the Citadel is a significant place for tourists to visit and is one of the most popular Islamic monuments in the city.
Cairo let more people visit a famous old castle called the Medieval Citadel. This is part of a bigger plan to make more tourists come to Egypt.
The Citadel of Cairo is a very old and big castle that was built a long time ago, in the year 1176. It was built by a strong leader named Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi, who also took over Jerusalem from the Crusaders in 1187.
Some parts of the Citadel have been open to people since 1983, but now they have opened even more sections after fixing them up. We have many fun Egypt tour Packages and Vacations that you can go on or Best Egypt Ports Shore Trips and have a great time visiting different places. This is all part of Egypt's plan to make more people visit and enjoy Egypt Excursion, which was started by Minister Ahmed Eissa.
The government's plan includes extending the average duration of visitors' Egypt Tours from one hour to at least three hours soon. This effort is part of a larger initiative to rebrand Cairo as a cultural destination, known as the 'Cairo City Break,' with more details to be announced soon.
The expanded access to the Citadel coincides with the highly anticipated opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum later this year. The museum is a vast space of 484,000 square feet, housing an impressive collection of 100,000 artifacts in 12 exhibition halls.
Egypt has set ambitious targets for its tourism sector, aiming to double the number of visitors to the country within the next five years and to attract 30 million tourists by 2028. In 2020, Egypt welcomed 14.91 million tourists, and for 2024, Enjoy Egypt Easter Holidays, they usually visit important and famous places. the government has set a target of 18 million visitors.
Egypt has set ambitious goals for its tourism industry, aiming to double the number of visitors in the next five years, with a target of reaching 30 million tourists by 2028. In 2020, Egypt welcomed nearly 15 million tourists, and by 2024, they aim to increase this number to 18 million visitors. This growth aligns with the country's focus on enhancing its tourism offerings, Egypt Christmas Tours, Egypt Easter Tours, and Egypt Classic Tours, to attract a diverse range of travelers.
If you want to learn more about Egypt, read a special on Egypt Travel Guide. It will tell you all about the whole country of Egypt.

Syrian rebels tap transitional PM, vow not to tell women how to dress
Adjusting to control of country after ousting Assad, rebels under former al-Qaeda commander say they will guarantee personal freedoms; outgoing premier says government functioning
Syrian rebel leaders on Monday tapped Mohammed al-Bashir to run the country’s transitional government following the ouster of Bashar al-Assad. Bashir ran the rebels’ administration in a small pocket of rebel-held territory in northern Syria before the 12-day lightning offensive that swept into Damascus and toppled the regime. The Saudi Al Hadath outlet reported that Bashir met with outgoing Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed al-Jalali in Damascus, who said Monday that he would cooperate with “any leadership chosen by the Syrian people.” Jalali said Monday that most cabinet ministers are still working from offices in Damascus, as streams of refugees crossed in from neighboring countries, hoping for a more peaceful future.
Syria After The Revolution, Now Comes The Hard Part
He will likely never have a sweeter moment in his life. Here was the victorious conqueror in one of the greatest temples in the lands of Islam, on ground once trod by Caliphs like Muawiya and Sultans like Saladin.
Abu Muhammad Al-Joulani – real name Ahmed Al-Shar'a – spoke on December 8 at the glorious eighth-century Umayyad Mosque in Damascus in humble gratitude to God at the fall of the tyrant Assad and the restoration of Sunni Muslim rule to Syria after almost 60 years. Syria was ruled since 1966 by Alawite strongmen, first Salah Jadid, and then the Assads, father and son.
Some 250 Israeli strikes hit Syrian military targets after fall of Assad — reports
Syrian security sources say IAF bombed at least 3 major army air bases that housed dozens of helicopters, jets; SOHR reports over 100 strikes since morning; no comment from IDF
Israel appeared to be continuing its aerial campaign in Syria on Monday, targeting weaponry that Jerusalem feared could fall into the hands of hostile forces in light of the dramatic fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime on Sunday. Two Syrian security sources said on Monday that Israeli planes bombed at least three major Syrian army air bases that housed dozens of helicopters and jets in the biggest such wave of strikes on air bases since Assad was toppled. The strikes hit Qamishli air base in northeast Syria, Shinshar base in the countryside of Homs, and Aqrba airport southwest of the capital Damascus, the sources said.
Eastern Syria: Clashes continued between the fighters of local Arab tribes and PKK/YPG in Deir ez-Zor throughout the night.
Putin personally approved Assad’s asylum – Kremlin
There is no meeting scheduled between the two men, Dmitry Peskov says
Russian President Vladimir Putin personally approved Bashar Assad’s asylum in Moscow, the Kremlin confirmed on Monday. The revelation follows reports that the former Syrian president and his family had arrived in Russia after the fall of Damascus to armed opposition forces. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a press briefing that there was no meeting scheduled to take place between Putin and Assad. “There is nothing to say regarding Assad’s whereabouts,” he added. When asked how Assad had been granted political asylum, Peskov said: “Such decisions cannot be made without the head of state; it is his decision.”

(Obsidian Files) What was Griffin imagining to help her get through Valtor's rape?
Sometimes she'd think of past relationships she actually had. People she'd actually picked for herself.
(Saladin and this guy she'd seen for a few months after her CT student career were popular when it was difficult. Granted, neither of them were reverent to her, but it helped get rid of some of the truth.)
(And she'd never admit it, but when he only used his fingers or toys or mouth, she'd imagine Faragonda. She never admitted to having a crush on her friend, but dammit she knew Fara would be gentle with her, far gentler than who was actually manipulating her body.)

Quote
Richard remained at Ascalon with his army for the Easter celebrations [of 1192], during which he knighted Saphadin's son, a unique honour for a Muslim.
David Miller (Richard the Lionheart: The Mighty Crusader, page 112) I can't find the name of this son of Saphadin and nephew of Saladin, but I was able to get a little more detail from the Itinerarium Regis Ricardi (Book V, Ch XII), which states:
On Palm Sunday [March 29], King Richard, amid much splendour, girded with the belt of knighthood the son of Saphadin, who had been sent to him for that purpose.

HOMILY for the Last Sunday after Pentecost
Col 1:9-14; Matt 24:15-35
Are we living in the last days? Are these the end times? Is the Great Tribulation which Christ foretells in today’s Gospel now upon us? In our current circumstances, many Christians – both Catholic and Evangelical Protestants – can be found speculating and affirming that yes, indeed, the signs are apparent that we are now living at the end of time. After all, they say, was the desolating sacrilege not committed in St Peter’s Basilica itself – or, at least, in the Vatican Gardens? And are we not, therefore, now being devastated by the pandemic; our churches having been emptied and desolate on Easter Sunday of 2020?
One could, certainly, make such speculative arguments. But if we engage in apocalypticism we should also be ready to be wrong, or even to flirt with heresy. In 1187, for example, when Saladin re-conquered Jerusalem the Cistercian Joachim of Fiore, who was a huge influence on the Spiritual Franciscans, was confident that this event was the desolating sacrilege, the abomination of desolation mentioned in the book of Daniel and referenced by Christ in today’s Gospel that would usher in a new age for the Church, namely the ‘spiritual Church’ led by the Franciscans, with St Francis as the new messiah. Needless to say, Joachim’s ideas and the apocalyptic movement based on his writings were condemned as heretical.
For, on the other hand, the one thing that is certain in the Gospel is that the exact dating of the end time, when Our Lord will return in glory, is not ours to know. As Jesus says: “Of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” (Matt 24:36) St Thomas Aquinas comments that this does not mean that the Son does not himself know the hour of his return, for to do so would be to deny his divinity and his divine knowledge; the heretic Arius would cite this passage to try and prove that Jesus was not divine. But the Fathers of the Church and St Thomas say that in fact this passage of Scripture tells us that the Lord does not wish to reveal the time of his return to his apostles, and thus he does not want us to know. My guess is that Our Lord does not want us to speculate too much either even if our natural human curiosity and our love for sensational religion can sometimes get the better of us. Rather, Christ wants us to remain sober, living in a good conscience, and thus ever ready for his return as Judge. As we hear in the epistle: “lead a life worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” (Col 1:10) Note: we are to increase in the knowledge of God, not of the time of his second coming, nor indeed, in the knowledge of those things which the Saviour has purposely hidden from us.
And this point is worth considering. St Thomas Aquinas tells us that “whereas man's whole salvation, which is in God, depends upon the knowledge of [the] truth [about God]. Therefore, in order that the salvation of men might be brought about more fitly and more surely, it was necessary that they should be taught divine truths by divine revelation.” It follows, then, that whatever the Saviour did not see fit to reveal to us is not necessary for our salvation. For while we need to know that the Lord will return in glory to judge the living and the dead, we do not need to know when he will come. Indeed, it would seem that it is more conducive to our salvation not to know the hour and moment of his return. Nor are we thereby to spend our time speculating on the time of his return. Rather, we are to be “strengthened with all power”, as St Paul says in today’s epistle, that is to say, strengthen by the graces and virtues of Christ, so that we might be prepared “for all endurance and patience with joy.” (Col 1:10)
For we can be sure that in each of our lifetimes we will encounter circumstances that challenge our faith; temptations that will cause us to stumble; and spiritual battles that will test our resolve. Hence the prophet Daniel, too, who was warned about the abomination of desolation, was also told by the Lord God to “go your way till the end; and you shall rest, and shall stand in your allotted place at the end of the days” (Dan 12:13) In other words, Daniel was told not to worry, nor speculate about the end times, but to remain steadfast in faith, walking daily in the ways of the Lord, trusting in him and obeying him. To follow the way of the Lord as Daniel did means to remain uninfluenced by pagan ideas and cultures, and to remain steadfast in trusting God and worshipping him alone.
For the abomination that Daniel foretells was an act recounted in the first book of Maccabees, when in 167 BC the statue of Zeus Olympios is placed in the Temple in Jerusalem and Antiochus IV orders sacrifices to be burnt before it. The abomination, therefore, is sacrilege, the act of offering worship to an idol, giving to another the reverence and honour that is due only to the one true God. The result of idolatry, of replacing the worship of God, is devastation – of the Temple, the nation, and indeed, the soul. For this reason, the abomination of idolatry is horrific.
We are warned by the Lord, therefore, not to give in to the idolatrous ways of the peoples around us, that is to say, not to put our trust in any creature or human person in such a way as to replace God. Rather, we must trust only in God, in his wise and loving providence, and in his Word. We must, therefore, heed and study and know the Scriptures by which God has willed to reveal his ways of salvation to us. Thus Jesus says in today’s Gospel: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” (Matt 24:35)
It seems to me that a besetting problem for us Catholics is that many remain largely ignorant of the Scriptures and thus ignorant of Christ and of his ways, his wisdom, his teachings. Rather, all too many prefer to turn to private revelations, supposedly mystical visions and apparitions, or some prelates even try to supplant Scripture with their own teachings. The Lord forewarns us then: “If any one says to you, `Lo, here is the Christ!' or `There he is!' do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.” Christ in today’s Gospel, therefore, calls us to stand on the firm foundation of his word revealed in sacred Scripture. Perhaps as Advent approaches and a new liturgical year begins you can make a resolution to engage in some study of Scripture and read the Bible daily. Did you know that a partial indulgence is granted to anyone whenever they make a spiritual reading from the Scripture, and if they do this for at least half an hour they can gain a plenary indulgence? So, reading the Bible for half an hour a day would be a more profitable use of our time then speculating or worrying about whether these are the end times!
For in the final reckoning, whether or not we should live in the end times, the focus of our Christian lives must surely be to ensure that we live each day as true followers of Christ, and that we should thus remain in communion with Christ’s holy Church, never separated from her by any temptation to schismatic ideas or heretical speculations. Hence Jesus says in today’s Gospel: “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.” (Mt 24:28) For the Body he refers to is his Mystical Body the Church, wherein we are fed on his sacred Body the Eucharist. And we Christians are referred to as eagles because these creatures were thought to fly to the heights of heaven and look into the sun. So, too, if we remain in the Church and feed on Christ’s Body and Blood, and if are nourished by his Word which endures forever, so shall we rise up by God’s grace to see Christ face to face forever in heaven. The goal of divine revelation is just this: that we should desire to know God, and so love him, and walk daily in his ways with childlike trust. So St Thomas Aquinas says: “man is ordained by [his moral actions] to the perfect knowledge of God in which consists eternal bliss.”
Therefore, whatever our current circumstances, and however turbulent the times might appear, or however close we might suppose the end to be, let these words of Scripture, from psalm 131, be our frequent prayer: “O Lord, my heart is not proud, my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvellous for me. But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a child quieted at its mother's breast; like a child that is quieted is my soul. O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and for evermore.”
Amen.

Headcanon for how a fight between Saladin/Jolder were to play out:
- Saladin gets very quiet when he's angry. Lots of sighs, stony glares, stage whispers.
- Jolder, on the other hand, becomes very garrulous, expounding on her point of view at great length because she just wants that great lunk to understand where she's coming from.
- Saladin sees this as browbeating.
- Jolder just keeps charging on.
-Saladin fixates on one tiny part of Jolder's speeches to take offense at. Wilful misinterpretation is a distinct possibility.
- Jolder gets derailed into a conversation about whether he's too easily offended (he is).
- Saladin goes into a massive sulk.
- Jolder eventually removes herself from the situation because she suspects he actually wants her to go and speak to him again but she's not going to validate that kind of behaviour.
- Saladin continues sulking but actually wants Jolder to come and speak to him again.
- Jolder leaves him to stew while she punches things to let off steam.
- Saladin continues to stew.
- Someone sensible like Radegast will tell him to stop cutting off his nose to spite his face.
- More stewing until Saladin acknowledges how miserable he is.
- Jolder will come home to discover some gesture on his part; all her weapons and armour newly polished for example, or she's suddenly in possession of a new set of eyeliners.
- Jolder will tell him she's sorry too. She wishes he was more willing to say it verbally but she knows how proud he is so she'll take it.

Sunday Spotlight, Black History Month Character of the Day: Miles Morales
Arguably the most successful character created in the last decade, Miles has made his first appearance in Ultimate Fallout #4. He comes from Earth 1610 - so-called Ultimate Universe, which reimagined classic Marvel heroes as how they would look if the debuted in Turn of the Millenium. Ultimate Universe was known for taking ore risks to the point of not being afraid to kill their version of Peter Parker. And then promptly reveal the existence of Miles - a teenager who gained near-identical powers but didn’t feel the world needed him to be a superhero, already having one Spider-Man. When Peter died in action, Miles felt guilty, thinking if he was there, he could be able to stop that tragedy and that motivated him to become a new Spider-Man.
In 2015 Ultimate Universe was phased out in event Secret Wars, where all alternate worlds collapsed into one, ruled by Doctor Doom. When things were undone a reality warper Molecule Man, who took a liking to Miles, moved him and a number of his family and friends to the main Marvel Universe.
Miles is in a lot of books. Here is a quick guide:
Ultimate Universe:
Ultimate Comics Spider-Man - Miles first main solo series
Cataclysm: the Ultimates Last Stand and Cataclysm: Ultimate Spider-Man - Ultimate Universe faces off against dimension-hopping Galactus from 616. Miles is featured in the main series but has more focus in his own miniseries.
All-New Ultimates - Following the Cataclysm Miles forms a new Ultimates team with various other teens of Ultimate Universe.
Spider-Men - a miniseries in which Miles meets Peter Parker of main Marvel Universe.
Spider-Verse - let the name not fool you, has jack shit to do with the story of the movie (it came out first and focuses on Peter, Otto Octavius and a bunch of interdimensional vampires) and Miles has a minuscule role. However, a story in Spider-Verse Team-Up #2 where Miles and Peter from Ultimate Spider-Man Animated Series go recruit Spider-man from 1963 cartoon is pretty funny.
All-New X-Men #31-36 - Miles teams-up with....time-travelling teenage versions of original X-Men from 616 when they jump to Ultimate Universe.
Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man - Miles second series, leads directly into Secret Wars
Main Marvel Universe:
Secret Wars and Ultimate End #4-5 - Miles has a very minor role, read them if you have to know how he ended in the main Marvel Universe.
Spider-Man - Miles’ first series in the new world.
All-New, All-Different Avengers #1-12 - Miles joins the Avengers. Notable for being where he first meets Kama Khan and Sam Alexander, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel and Nova, who will become among his closest friends in the superhero community.
Civil War II - Fuck this event. There is a big plot about a vision of Miles’ killing Captain America in the future but the story is shit. Read it only if you need to understand what the fuck is happening in issues of Miles’ main book that make a tie-in to it
Champions - Following Civil War II Miles, Kamala and Sam quit the Avengers and decide to start their own superhero team.
Spider-Men II - Miles and Peter team-up to discover who is Miles Morales of 616 Universe. Plot points from here come back in later series and it introduces Miles’s new love interest, Barbara Rodriguez.
Secret Empire - Fuck this event even harder, the subplot about Miles killing Captain America comes back and as much as fun it is to see Miles beat up HydraCap, they still fucked it up.
Miles Morales: Spider-Man - Miles’ first series under new writer Saladin Ahmed.
Spider-Geddon - Follow-up to original Spider-Verse, Miles actually gets stuff to do in this one.
Champions 2019 #1-6 and #9-10 - continuing from the first Champions series.
War of the Realms: Journey Into Mystery - Read it between issues #6 and #9 of Champions, it has Miles as a part of a ragtag bunch of misfits tasked with protecting Odin’s baby daughter from Ares, Greek God of War. Notable for being written by McElroys from the Adventure Zone podcast.
Absolute Carnage - pair the course FUCK THIS EVENT! You can read Miles’ own miniseries but even then avoid the main miniseries, it doesn’t help you understand the context of events in Miles’ mini. In fact, it makes things make LESS sense.
Marvel Rising - Miles teams-up with other heroes against Morgan LeFay
Spider-Verse 2019 - following from plot-lines of Spider-Geddon it has Miles fall into multiverse again when a new crisis threatens various Spiders.
Miles Morales: the End - One-shot showing Miles possible “final tale” set in the far future.
Marvel Action: Spider-Man - a series aimed at younger audiences, starring Peter, Miles and Gwen in main roles.
Champions 2020 - Miles will be part of the upcoming Champions relaunch as a part of the Outlawed event in which government bans all superheroes below age of 21.
Guest Appearances
Ms. Marvel #7, #31 - Miles has guest appearances in Kamala’s book, theyre pretty neat.
Nova #3-4 - Set during All-new All-Different Avengers days, Miles and Kamala go on a patrol with Sam.
Totally Awesome Hulk #1-4 - Miles meets Amadeus Cho. Read it before Champions to know where Miles knows Amadeus when he recommends him for the team.
Gwenpool #5-6, #18-20 - #5-6 has main character trying to befriend Miles, #18-20 features adult Miles from the future.
Amazing Spider-Man #12-15 - a meh story that is notable for the fact that Peter Parker and Tony Stark LITERALLY GOT INTO A FISTFIGHT over who is Miles’ mentor.
Shuri #6-7 - Miles and Kamala team-up with Shuri, princess of Wakanda.
Ironheart #6 - Riri investigates Miles’ disappearance.
Other media:
Miles appears in dozens of games and several cartoons, but two things that are truly about him are:
Miles Morales: Spider-Man prose novel by Jason Reynolds
And of course Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, an animated movie that is so freaking good it won 41 different awards, including a Golden Globe and an Oscar.
