Have you ever been inspired by each other recently?Miyawaki: For me, while Haruppi was taking a break, I didn't realise how much a hole in my heart would open. The person who was always beside me suddenly disappeared, I began to feel a sense of responsibility and burden like [I have to do my best as a 1st gen]. Without knowing it I had relied on her for so long and never realised. (Is this real??? Sakura DO care about Happy omg)
I don’t know where this is from, but I read something before the SSK where Sakura said something similar, yet super gay which only made my Sakuruppi-OTP-heart die even more.

Finally after a long fine day hang out with Jurina, haruppi back to HKT for work, she sit casually beside sakura as she always do, and start telling sakura *in high tension mode* how fun was the day she spend with Jurina , sakura only smile and listening to her... with empty eyes

How did Sakura become popular? I just finish watching hkt documentaries and from my understanding, haruppi was the og center for hkt. Meru & Mio was center for their very first single. Sakura was never center, but suddenly she was rank in ssk and she just keep climbing up since then. Sakura get a center in akb first before hkt (how does that even work?), why don't they just transfer her to akb? I'm just really curious.
One thing we have to understand, is that HKT48 followed a very different trajectory as compared to its predecessors in SKE48 and NMB48. Where SKE48 and NMB48 followed the established formula of a single set of Aces from its first generation (wMatsui for SKE48, and SayaMilky for NMB48), HKT48 took a rather different approach, appointing two different pairs of Aces, one from each generation, to frontline the group - Sakuruppi from HKT1G, and MeruMio from HKT2G. It was a controversial choice, but it allowed for HKT48 to diversify its options and spread its efforts across multiple fronts without having to rely too much on a single set of Aces. Kodama and Miyawaki were deployed to assist with HKT48′s presence on AKB48′s mainstream releases, while Tomonaga and Tashima would then focus on headlining HKT48′s own A-sides.
In 2012, while Kodama would have been the first HKT48 member to be given a Senbatsu spot in an AKB48 A-side (Manatsu no Sounds Good), it would be Miyawaki that would prove to be the more popular and profitable member. With her breakout success at 2012′s Sousenkyo, she would then go on to become a regular featuring member on AKB48′s releases as HKT48′s representative. I can’t give you an exact answer to explain Miyawaki’s popularity, but I do believe it’s a combination of her own unique brand of charisma, and aggressive marketing on the part of Management.
Now, as to why all this happened despite Miyawaki never actually being the named Center for HKT48′s A-sides more than once - this goes back to HKT48′s unique organization of its Aces. By deploying MeruMio as Centers for its first 3 singles (Suki! Suki! Skip! - Sakura, Minna de Tabeta), this allowed Miyawaki and Kodama to focus on their efforts in establishing the foundations of HKT48′s presence within the 48G-wide Coalition Senbatu. In 2014, with Miyawaki finally breaking into Senbatsu at that year’s Sousenkyo ahead of her peers, HKT48 would then re-appoint Kodama as its Center with “Hikaeme I Love You!” (perhaps as an effort to try and keep her ‘on par’ with Miyawaki) until Matsuoka Hana took over with “Saikou ka yo” in 2016. This arrangement allowed Miyawaki to focus entirely on her role as HKT48′s cornerstone representative on 48G’s Coalition Senbatsu, and build upon her own popularity and presence even further. There was no real need to make Miyawaki the sole Center of HKT48 when she could be playing ball for the organization at a much higher level, and when there are other members (Kodama/Tomonaga/Tashima/Matsuoka) who are just as qualified to function as HKT48′s Centers on the home front.
