Growing up to think humans were bad- well except for you. There was always an exception for you.

And after we meeting April, taking down Superfly and finally starting highschool—maybe—other humans weren’t so bad.

Or so you thought because fitting it just didn’t click as easy as it did for the others.. and people weren’t as welcoming to you as you and your brothers would’ve believed.

Leonardo

He isn’t the first to pick up something’s amiss with you. But second.

He’s your eldest brother, grew up watching you develop your personality and quirks, knowing how you act, what you like, the commonality of your body language.

He’d pick up something off shortly.

He first notices something’s up with you when you become more reserved even to them, even in the littler ways.

You seemed more nervous if not completely anxious at school.

At first he thought you were having a rough few days, but the longer it went on the more concerned became.

So he confronted you.

Leo had always been protective of his siblings, you especially with both being the youngest and the only human of them. He searched for you high and low, finding you in one of the more quiter places of school. The library.

“Hey you, whatcha doing in here?”

“Oh- Leo, i’m just uh.. looking at books?” You grab at a random book and open it.. upside down.

“Sure..” Leo corrected the book, sitting beside you, obviously worried. “If something’s up you can talk to me.”

You didn’t look at him, but he offered you a shoulder and accepting, you leaned on it. Sitting in silence for awhile like that.

“How did you guys do it..?”

“What do you mean?”

“…Fit in.”

“Fit- is someone doing something to you? Are they hurting you? bullying you-?”

“No no! I just.. I dont think I fit in—or that people like me—I mean you’re heroes! You saved the city and i’m just here? The turtles human sibling, You’re little sibling.”

Leo turned holding your hands in his. “You are absolutely a hero! You got all those people out of those buildings, ones superfly would’ve sent crumbling and crushing all those civilians. You might not have taken him down but you saved lives. Don’t you ever forget that.” He pulled you into a hug. One you reciprocated.

“Love you, Leo.”

“Love you to.”

Leo made sure you were never left out after that.

Boasting about all you did to save people, saying his cool his little sibling is, etc.

Raphael

He loves you all, just in his own Raph way.

Like Leo as your older brother he grew up watching you become you.

But he’d notice around the time you weren’t coming to sparing, and even when you did there isn’t a lot of effort. You don’t show up to his wrestling matches like his brothers and dad.

You were always so supportive of him and of all of your brothers for that matter.

They would search for you but couldn’t find you anywhere. It scared his brothers on occasion, including him but he’d always put on a brave face.

He becomes even more worried when you start becoming distant to all of them.

Raphael finally went to go confront you about it after a week of it.

He scoured the hallways trying to find you, you’d been leaving earlier and earlier to get to school. He left earlier to find you, alone where there weren’t a lot a of people around. Then he found you in the hallway.

And you were by yourself, holding your phone as you just.. stared.

“Hey?” Your turtle brother sat beside you, scaring you and you hide your phone.

“Hey- uh hey raph, raphael, raphala, rapha-“ he gave you a look. You both sat there for a second. Just in each other’s company before Raph spoke up.

“Listen, i’m cutting to the chase. What’s going on?”

“What- what do you mean?”

“You know what I mean, you’ve been avoiding us. Distant, Somethings going on and you can’t avoid talking about it anymore.” He looked at you with seriousness, that fighting spirit of his wasn’t going to let you get away easily.

You look away from him, phone falling from your hand, landing face up. You hadn’t been hiding it, so what did you expect. Them to not pick up on it?

“You don’t gotta tell me everything, just something so I know how to help. Kay?” Raph and emotional vulnerability were two things you didn’t see together often.

You pick up your phone and show it to him, you talk as he looks over the articles you had pulled up. All articles about them.

“I think it’s great, the articles. I’m proud. of all of you. For saving the city, and our home. Everyone celebrated you and you deserve it.”

Raphael looked at you, not knowing where this was going.

“I.. do others- They all love you and I try to talk to students and make friends, but they always ask me about you guys.”

Raph had watched you help countless humans that day, yet you let them have all the praise and credit. He hadn’t noticed why.

“They dont know what they’re missing out on. You’ll find the right people who like you for you, and just not because you’re our little sibling.” Raph pulled you into a side hug. And you both sat there until school started.

Donatello

Donnie would see the signs, even if he’s a bit arrogant and sarcastic he definitely cares for all of you, no question asked. Your all his siblings the people he grew up with.

So when he starts noticing the distancing early.

Idk maybe he saw you in one of his animes or shows or smth and was like ‘oh.. OH.’

He’d confront you during lunch.

He had searched the library, cafeteria, and courtyard for you. Yet you just weren’t there, so he knew of only one more place to look.

There you were, he had a feeling he’d find you in your favorite teachers classroom. So he walked on in and sat at the desk closet to you. He looked at you.

“Oh! Donnie- hi. You okay..?”

“I could ask you the same thing. Are you ok?”

You sat there knowing but not at the same time what he meant.

“What do you mean? I’m fine.”

“Then why are you avoiding us? You don’t usually miss our anime binges! You’ve missed like three new episodes of anime.”

You nod, you had and didn’t realize.

“What’s going on.”

You look up at him and it all falls out, the insecurity of being around other humans, the way they make you feel, the way you try. But you just don’t fit in, not like how they do it.

Donnie looks at you and pulls you into a hug.

“Youre like Deku, you just gotta do it and don’t give up.”

Michelangelo

He as the youngest is most likely the brother you are closest too and not just in age.

He would notice the changes and made plans to confront you.

But this is a different case, you seek out Mikey rather than him confronting you.

You and Mikey had stayed before one day at the house while everyone went out to do their own stuff. You found him in your brothers room.

He’s scribbling in a notebook, likely comping up with something for his improv club. You walk up at sat beside him.

Mikey notices immediately and put his attention on you.

“What’s up?”

“How do you know if others like you?” You pulled your legs in and rested your head on your knees. Looking at him.

“Are people being mean to you?”

“No- not really I just. I don’t think I fit in with them. Not like you guys..” You say recalling all your attempts to make friends and reach out. You felt embarrassed about that.

“If it helps we could try improving something to help you?”

“Yeah.. I’d like that.” You smiled as you both got to work.

Absolutely bewildered when he wakes up due to you blowing up his phone and saying you ended up at Superfly's Pylon. He assumes the worst as he gets changed and rushes there and then learns that you were just sleepwalking.

His sleep schedule becomes so wild. He very much becomes used to being woken up because someone calls him that you ended up at Tonio's or at the docks.

Josuke tries to pull an all nighter one night when you stay at his house. He just wants to see if anything specific happens to trigger your sleepwalking. Maybe it's a stand attack? He throws a wadded up piece of paper at you while you're sleepwalking to see if maybe you have a stand and it takes over when you're asleep.

Will just take you to the doctor's or the hospital at some point because he cannot keep waking up at odd hours because someone saw his girlfriend sleepwalking somewhere dangerous. Hopefully you can get some pills or whatever to fix your sleepwalking because he does get very worred. (honestly would make some stupid deal that Josuke will regret with Rohan to get him to use his stand to get rid of your sleepwalking).

Okuyasu

He is a heavy sleeper so if you wake up from your sleepwalking on a cliff or something then don't expect to be able to call Okuyasu to help you out. He is out and not waking up for anything.

When he does learn of your sleepwalking, he gets so concerned. What if you get hurt, S/O? There's a lot of danger in this small town and he doesn't like you potentially being hurt while you're vulnerable.

This idiot thinks the best thing to do is stay up all night to keep watch over you. He'll just drink some of Tonio's water to get rid of his sleepiness.

Josuke is the one to suggest asking Rohan for help or have you get a diagnosis and some medication. Okuyasu chimes in with maybe Tonio has some magic warm milk or something that'll keep you asleep at night.

I just watched it for the first time last night, so here are my thoughts.

Headcanon meme - accepting!

Wingnut has broken her right wing once when she was little; it’s the most major injury she’s ever had til recently. It healed okay, and she can still fly but she had that cast for over a year, give or take. Luckily she got her prosthetic arms soon after, and could do a great deal more than she could before.

Her most recent injury she’s had was complications from being smacked into a building by Superfly. She no broken bones, but several of her ribs were cracked and her wings were sprained for a few weeks. She tends to downplay her injuries cuz- compared to the turtles and what happened with their shells, it’s— nowhere near as bad, surely.

ANYWAYS heres my dirt, nothing too gnarly in the diagrams! If I don't clarify some stuff well enough, feel free to ask and I'll clarify as best I can!

Part 1: What Is A Stand?

SO

The base of what we know about Stands in canon, according to Vento Aureo, is that they are a retrovirus of extraterrestrial origin!

What's a retrovirus? A little bundle of proteins that float around trying to hijack the way that DNA replicates itself- basically, it replaces our instruction manual with its own. The meteor and the arrow, for one reason or another, allows these little Stand cells to live on it until they pierce something.

According to Vento Aureo, on getting pierced with the arrow: you either die (in a little nasty way), or get a Stand.

Interesting takeaways on the nature of Stands from Stardust Crusaders, courtesy of Mohammed Avdol:

If one person is pierced with an arrow, their descendants will be impacted, in the form of developing the Stand or the sickness. I don't have enough brain cells to try to bullshit an explanation for that one.

The illness: takes roughly 50 days to be fatal, starts on the back, grows on the body, symptoms will involve a fever that progresses to "other symptoms," followed by a coma and death.

There appears to be some kind of gestation period: Dio was shot with the arrow about 1-2 years before Jotaro and Holly develop the stands (jojo timeline help). Joseph developed Hermit Purple 1 year before Jotaro got Splat.

The "gestation period" can arguably be backed up by Koichi, who survived his own stand by virtue of Crazy Diamond- Echoes first emerges as an egg!

Harming the Stand will harm the user, and Stands can vary highly in range.

They are variable in nature- some can exist entirely independently, even continuing to live within items that the user made. DiU and Stone Ocean have very unique examples of the varying levels of a Stand's independence.

Leading to an interesting point: developing a Stand, as opposed to the illness, will not guarantee that you survive your Stand. Examples include Cheap Trick and Notorious BIG. That said, other Stands will allow you to retain consciousness after death, such as Atom Heart Father (for better or worse).

(Things that I pressed X to Doubt: Avdol comments that Stands revolve around "fighting spirit," but he has been heavily exposed to assassins, who both leave financial paper trails and have body counts. Furthermore, Dio and Enya, individuals going bananas with the arrow, were exclusively looking for recruits for battle. There is mayhaps a smidge of sampling bias.)

Interesting takeaways from the Greenland meteor include:

IN CONTRAST TO THE SICKNESS! The Arrow will kill you a lot faster. We don't have an exact timeframe for how long meteor exposure took, but it seems that at bare minimum, the mineral surveyors, "dying looking like tomato sauce," didn't have a "slow fever, coma, death" presentation.

This is extremely interesting when you take into account that when the first person to be exposed to the virus dies, the Stand illness that shoots down generationally will resolve itself (sometimes leaving a stand: no information on Holly, but Josuke retained Crazy Diamond).

So, someone who gets hit with the Arrow or exposed to the meteor will either gain a Stand or swiftly die- should they have descendants, it's likely that on the death of the Arrow hit, these descendants may develop a Stand (if they were ill to begin with). Either way, there is a decent chance of a Stand remaining.

Other interesting things: Stands can exist entirely independently of users: Anubis and Superfly are good examples.

Back to the question of what a Stand is: I believe that the Stand is not necessarily a virus that infects another extraterrestrial organism, but that it is itself an extraterrestrial that has the option of behaving like a virus.

What do I mean by option?

If there are any fungi and siphonophore fans here, raise hands!

My headcanon is that, in essence, a Stand is an alien that has multiple means of reproduction, and can behave in a manner similar to both fungi and siphonophores. AKA, viral and budding being the primary means.

Viral basically allows the Stand to develop via a host. You are independent strands of proteins that migrate to the optic nerve and swiftly become active in producing proteins to create the building blocks actual Stand- they "stand behind you" because they poke out of the central nervous system. The formation of the stand comes of a mixture of any sensory stimuli to the nervous system while forming, any forming memories (similar to the visuals of dreams), and the general structure of your CNS.

Pros: Saves time, development of sentience is optional, your host does all the work of looking for danger and fighting for your mutual survival.

Cons: you're a stupid space virus who's trying to Build A You out of popsicle sticks and glue so you might kill your host to death. Also, you might trip your host's immune system, causing the Stand sickness again, which kills your host to death.

Visual Symptoms There's VERY few ways to firmly differentiate Stand virus from anything else without biopsy, however! The optic nerve and occipital lobe are the first place to gain these little areas of Stand that are responsible for the ability to process a Stand visually. Unlike your auditory processing, the Stand migrates and is active here- there's no real need for it, as stands can be utilized fine without sight (you don't really need use of sensory organs to have/develop a Stand, those nerves are just where the virus happens to set up camp). A lot of viral cells park and conglomerate here to make "Stand." On SOME occasions, for no real reason that can be understood (seems to be coincidence), the cells will begin just. Creating these deep, deep blue pigment molecules (along with the proteins they're making)- most commonly, they can be found in the choroid coat (it's a red jacket for ur eye that feeds it) and the sclera. Pigment producing viral cells have also presented in the tunica externa of the facial artery (literally just the outer coating of the artery), and the optic artery. By and large, this doesn't really produce any symptoms outside of production of that pigment, but if you were to look at the central nervous system of some people with Stands, you might actually see patches of dark blue where that pigment molecule started being produced.

This in that altered shade of sclera seen in people like Risotto, as well Avdol and Geil's facial markings- initially, it's almost like a prominence or very specific bruising, but the actuality is that the outermost layer of their arteries have deep blue pigment!

Being born with Stand means that you do in fact have more time to start a Stand from scratch, and it takes a little bit for the viral cells to wake up to the fact that you're in the world now. Additionally, they have grown alongside you and your blastula!

Getting stabbed with one or directly exposed via meteor means that you just get an influx of cells all at once, which immediately POG at you, who are so rich in nutrients, and your Stand gets built in overtime! If you don't have Crazy Diamond nearby, this is really bad. Slow and steady building Stands are kinder and gentler on people.

Anyways, budding!

Budding is where a) no option for a host exists and b) enough food. As opposed to spitting out free floating protein, the Stand proteins link up and begin to produce specialized colonies. They can look like whatever they damn well please, but often form sensory organs first in the interest of blending in with whatever they will be Hash Tag Coexisting with. After "mapping" out their form using buds that make this weird cartilaginous blueprint, they Build Dude. T End result is obligated to be sentient! There's no real difference between a bud Stand who mimicked a human person and a human person: for my John Carpenter's Thing fans, imagine that the Thing was like. Forced to not plagiarize, do its own work instead of assimilating, and just eat enough to formulate its own guy cells from scratch. Mikitaka is an example- very little functional difference between the end result of virus or budding, except that he and his Stand are basically one and the same. Took him a while to grow, but y'know. He lives in Morioh. He's a normal high schooler, just sprouted a little differently. Pros: You exist in space, you can do whatever you want. Get a job, carry ice cream in your pockets, the world is your damn oyster. The Stand virus also can't do anything to you. Additionally, you can pretty much digest anything. Cons: Takes a really long time, takes a lot of energy, hence the ability to basically digest anything. The construction of a full working nervous system from scratch takes for fucking ever.

Abilities

The variation in their abilities is a mixture of their intake of stimuli (as they are parked in the nervous system) and literally anything that a human brain can conceive as a thing that makes us go "WHOA!" They're intended to be defensive measures, but as mentioned, they are stupid virus aliens, so they sort of just throw things at the wall and some of it sticks.

Some people can go their entire lives without knowing that they have stands, because the abilities are just weird and specific. Tonio only unlocked his after extensive journeys as a chef. What do you want from the guy. Some Stands don't even start building for some reason, so they just chill out in there.

ANYWAYS! tldr, Stands are a siphonophore-virus-aliens like John Carpenter's Thing that are trying to live, just like you and me :)

Ray fillet headcanons Remake

I watched the movie so now I'm writing with more knowledge. Came into the cinema knowing very well that he was going to be my favorite and did not disappoint. Sweet baby angelfish I love him so much. (But holy shit I was right about him really loving music)

I hope the new videogame, the series and the sequel gives us more depth about his character (Though I'm extremely grateful they finally remembered his existence) and I pray they don't kill him like the Archie and IDW comics did.

Ray's sight is not the best, having one eye missing can really affect your perception, but also having myopia in your only eye left is devastating. That's mainly the reason why he's wearing the scuba diving glasses, the other reason is because he thinks they look cool. But, since they are not prescription glasses they barely have any effect and are completely useless. Thankfully, he relies a lot on his cephalic fins that sense electric fields and allow him to move without crashing into anything. Most of the time.

Nobody knows how he lost his eye, not even his siblings. He just showed up one day with a missing eye and he keeps changing the version every time he tells it.

He loves to sing so much he decided to open a youtube channel to do covers. He had to be explained thorougly what royalties were and why he couldn't cover any song he wanted to just because so. So he started writing his own songs.

Meme songs, he knows them all and will use them for evil. It's both a blessing and a curse. He is the master of rickrolling because you never see him coming.

He found out the ocean's has an awesome acoustic, so sometimes he sings while he is diving and records it for his channel, it's his own ASMR.

He loves tattoos, it's like a form of artistic expression, and he gets to wear them all the time! Bebop is the one who does all the ink work and Mondo just provides the designs, and whatever they come up with, Ray likes it.

Despite his love for singing and the arts, he is one to keep on the background, never taking the spotlight. This is mostly because Superfly's treatment of him and his singing, he feels anyone is going to rudely tell him to shut up. He is slowly regaining confidence in himself.

Out of all his siblings, Ray is the one who suffered the most verbal abuse from Superfly due to his personality and singing. He knew that his brother, despite everything, cared for him, but Ray has always been very sensitive and took it to heart.

To release some steam he likes to hit the punching bag, he feels bad about it because every time he hits it he imagines his ex-brother's face. Regardless of all the mistreatment, he was still his big bro who raised them when nobody else would.

If they formed a super hero B team, Ray would be the least interested, as he says "he just wants to sing" so superheroics are not a thing for him. That doesn't mean he is willing to stand aside and let innocent people suffer, Ray is, above everything else, a very nice and kind soul who will always lend a hand to those in need.

Ray is one of the strongest members on his team, behind Bebop and Rocksteady, but doesn't like to show off his strength unless it is in combat.

He is a big admirer of Big Man in Splatoon 3, he wants to be everything he is, an idol who will sing his feelings to the world.

He is hoping someone will form a band with him and perform together on shows. One of his biggest dreams is to perform at Coachella.

When he gets excited, his tail starts to wiggle widly, which may become a problem due to his sting, at first, he was worried he was going to harm anyone, but he has since started to warn his family when 'the wiggles' are coming so they can move or use something as a shield.

First of all, these two being twins is one of the funniest things to me ever.

“QUICK RAPH! MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH SUPERFLY SO HE CAN SEE THE HUMANITY IN OUR SUFFERING!" Seriously though, these are the funniest fucking photos I have of them rn. It's like they swapped personalities in the middle of their suffering. Me and my twin when we are making eye contact with our soon to be killer 😊

Aside from the funny stuff, I do think Raph and Leo has a lot of thematic potential too. If they make Leo and Raph have a rivalry at any point in the series, them being twins would make it so interesting in my opinion. Even with how much Leo seems to scold Raph and Raph teases him (for being a PUSSY), they do genuinely respect each other a lot. They were purposefully fucking me up when Leo told Raph to use his anger instead of pushing it all inside. THEY WERE FUCKING ME UPPPP.

I can't articulate well RN but this hc is very dear to me and has me dead on the concrete floor everytime I think about it. I am bleeding out severely help. UHM, 1 HC under the cut because I'm cringe but free 😁

I see Leo as the type of guy to be a crybaby when he was just a wee lad, whereas Raph would be the tough baby making him cry over stupid things. Slight push? CRYING FOR DAD. Raph gotta hug him and pat him on his shell so he doesn't go crying again <\3 Obviously to be a leader Leo would have to grow out of this but he never grew out of being a SNITCH. 4. Best jobro or side protagonist?

My part 5 bias is showing but it’s Bruno for me. His relationship to his team, his fights, how tragic and bittersweet his story is, his weirdness, his character design, the way him and Giorno work as protagonists together, his sheer determination and the way he ties into the themes of part 5 auggghhhh it’s so good. I wish I could put my thoughts into words better but yeah Bruno is good <3

16. Favorite ships?

Fugiomis (and all three “component” ships) is my absolute favorite ship, just. The way it has taken over my brain is ridiculous lmao I need to get better at drawing/writing so I can contribute to it because there’s not enough stuff with the three of them.

Other favorite ships of mine are naratrish, mistrish, gionara, fugonara, literally any combination of giogio, mista, fugo, nara and/or trish tbh let the mafia teens kiss, jonaeriwagon (I just rewatched part 1 and oh my god they are in love your honor), gyjo, bruabba, josuyasu, foolymes and caejose (can you tell I have a weak spot for jojo x jobro?)

17. Color schemes or early designs you prefer?

I don’t know if I prefer it, but I really do love Dio’s outfit from the Phantom Blood movie, I hope it returns as a costume in asbr or another game someday.

Speaking of asbr I also really love part 1 Dio’s default outfit from the original asb, his anime look is also great ofc but I just honestly like this more.

I also kinda miss Mista’s white boots from the manga, asb and eoh. I do think the anime’s dark boots look great and I don’t think the white boots would’ve looked as good in the anime but still.

25 . Random headcanon or opinion about character of your choice

I’m currently rewatching part 2 and oh my god Santana’s kinda terrifying? Like the way he contorts his body and possesses people (and the possessed say it feels pleasant like. what). It’s really cool in a really disturbing eldritch abomination way that makes him a very effective (and kinda underrated) villain imo.

out of his eight other siblings, wingnut, scumbug and mondo are probably the ones superfly goes easiest on. which might not mean a lot considering he’ll still order them around and scold them and stuff, but compared to the way he talks to, say, ray and genghis  ( who he seems a little harsher with, especially the former ), it’s apparent that he’s much less abrasive with those particular three.

I think with wingnut, i just imagine something about her makes superfly feel, like, at least a little bad for scolding her. maybe it’s the way he may notice her cringe if he raises his voice, or the fact that he knows she’s just goofing around and not trying to be a pain — it’s hard to pinpoint, but it basically boils down to the fact that he dislikes telling her off. not that he WON’T — he’s still her older brother and guardian, he’s gotta do what he’s gotta do — but, y’know. He won’t feel GREAT about it, ok ?  ( oh also i do subscribe to the hc that he built her lil arms bc it’s ADORABLE !! )

with scumbug, i think it’s mainly the fact that she doesn’t talk the same as they do makes him less inclined to speak to her as strictly as he does with the other siblings. he recognizes that it’d be unfair given the language barrier, so he tries to have a little more patience with her. hell, he’s likely her first defender if anyone does get annoyed with her at all for the same reason. ALSO…i think part of him feels like she really gets him sometimes.  ( or at least did, prior to MM events, but i digress !! )  dunno if it’s just insect solidarity or him projecting or what, but. yeah.

Mondo — i mean, he’s basically like the baby of the group, right ?  are we surprised that, for all of his sort of ‘tough love’ approach, superfly’s got a soft spot for their youngest member ?  i think he’s a hell of a lot more lenient with mondo than he is with anyone else because of it. Again, he still scolds him, but it’s not nearly as bad. He’ll put up with a lot more of his shenanigans begrudgingly more often than not because, hey, he’s basically still a kid; superfly has enough sense to realize that. I will also say that I think MONDO of all people being the one to tell superfly ‘NO’ when push came to shove hit superfly a lot harder than if it had come from anyone else. I think because he’s the youngest, he’s, like, the LAST person superfly expected to say something  ( i mean, he’s probably pretty used to some of the older siblings complaining, so ). I think it stuck with him way more than he’ll let on because it’s like MAN…if MONDO said something, how messed up have things gotten ?

Mikitaka Hazekura Headcanons

I think that both Mikitaka Hazekura and Toyohiro Kanedaichi have developed some sort of bond with each other, romantic or otherwise.

Mikitaka convinces Toyohiro to let him leave Superfly Tower in order to hang out with Jouske and the others as long as he promises to come back.

// thinking … idk. How to best words this but I have been like, mulling it over in my head about how to write a but. Here’s some word vomit under the cut. Content warning for talk of emotional abuse and poor caretakers and also spoilers for mutant mayhem, I guess.

Mostly thinking about how for mutant mayhem so much of like, why the stockmans as individuals and a whole group are the way they are is because of Superfly. I mean, when this line is literally in tales:

“You grew up in a loving and stable home… they grew up with superfly.”

Idk, it makes me think. I hesitate to talk about a lot of the superfly stuff in detail because it’s an upsetting topic that for many including myself does hit close to home. I mean, it was written to be an unhappy and unstable living situation. It was a deliberate choice to have it be a reflection of splinter and the turtles; and both families were shown as complicated and multifaceted. Splinter is imperfect in similar ways Superfly always was. To represent that experience- of not having a cookie cutter “nuclear family” all media n Hollywood tends to show kids. not everyone gets caretakers that love them the way they should.

Make no mistake I do try and incorporate and acknowledge in my portrayal both for canon and adjacent verses. No matter how you slice it the other stockmans were embroiled in a worsening situation of crime and isolation, suffered emotional abuse, and had to witness their oldest brother commit unspeakable acts of violence in the name of “protecting” them. On the flip side,

Frankly I hate a lot of the way fanon can try and twist this to be one extreme or the other— excusing SF’s actions due to his past trauma or vilifying him as an irredeemable monster. He’s neither of those things. He did what he thought was best for his family, he put his blood, sweat, and tears and that fermented into resentment because their situation was, fucking hopeless. Their situation would’ve continued being hopeless even if sf never decided to build that machine.

It’s just, complicated. A caregiver with ptsd and no way of managing symptoms or having a support system will always inevitably end in disaster and heartbreak; let alone a caregiver who started out when he was literally a child himself (!!) it was a tradegy from the start. My own mother has ptsd and she struggles to this day. Even with her support system and her coping skills. It’s hard to talk about in a way to make sense for an outsider because- you never really get it unless you see and experience it first hand. How hard it can be to navigate. How frusterating it is for everyone to write it off as a lost cause

One day I might write out specific headcanons and meta about like, the way specific stockmans handled it all and how they’re doing in the aftermath. Just because canon moved on immediately doesn’t mean I have to
