Clicked on an article criticizing a popular movie I hated expecting to feel hater vindication but the author hated it for the wrongggg reasonssssss
#vile-wizard.txt#this is about The Substance#the author is like “why doesnt main character woman like herself if she's still pretty? 🤔” like no shut up. you don't get it.#thats not what makes the movie bad to me#the article author does bring up a point near the end about how the movie kinda doesn't challenge the “grossness” of aging#an analysis i think can be taken a bit further#it doesn't challenge misogyny in a real or groundbreaking way which is baffling because its themes are so boringly unsubtle#the runtime was wayyy too long and i feel like the movie misses a lot of opportunities to be. interesting. scary. good.#SUPERFICIAL ATONAL MAINSTREAM SLOP
