United knocked PSG out with Ole at the wheel and McFred in our midfield. I fully expect Dortmund to knock them out. 💛

Wan Bissaka's redemption arc
This tweet is all that needs to be said really; seeing Aaron Wan-Bissaka play with confidence and composure against a team of Real Madrid's ilk.

This isn't a sudden switch of a flick though. Post-World Cup we saw a strong second half to the season for AWB. He dislodged Dalot from the starting RB position and looked tidy. Clearly Erik Ten Hag is seeing the work he's doing on the pitch, in training, and the associated development ongoing.
Aaron said it himself in interviews: he was surprised when United bought him, thinking he had another year of development in him before the step up. He came in to a United side that liked to sit back, soak, and counter. Like Harry Maguire he enjoyed that type of play, but then Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pushed to evolve into possession-based football and suddenly the team, with a lot of deadwood, was incredibly disjointed. Ole got the sack, Rangnick filled in to poor effect, and like the end of the Jose tenure or the Van Gaal spell before... United felt both devoid of ideas and devoid of soul.

This inevitably lowered confidence and players then looked ropey as anything. If you asked fans post-Rangnick who you'd keep, you were lucky to get five names. Now look at us. Erik Ten Hag has come in and brought standards and the proper ethos back to Manchester United. Losing 7-0 to Liverpool sucks, but we still finished higher than them, and the XG on that game was way lower than that scoreline would suggest, but it happens. What we shouldn't do is dismiss the good work going on aside a bad (or nightmare) day at the office.
He's not the best RB in the league, but Wan Bissaka is an elite 1 on 1 defender, solid in his other defensive attributes, an excellent athlete, and he used to be a winger. He has the potential to expand his attacking game - this isn't virgin territory. IF he continues the hard graft to work on his weaknesses in possession and with his attacking movements he could soon grow and take that top spot, and with that consistency and confidence he could become Europe's no1 after that.
This may be hopeful thinking, but all we as fans can do is hope. We hope for the best and support players through the worst, but Aaron Wan Bissaka has come out of that worst period and is looking better than ever. Long may it continue for our Spider Wan.

THE FALL OF ALEXIS SANCHEZ
In 2014, after a stellar league season with Barcelona and a good performance in the World cup in Brazil, Alexis Sanchez was considered as one of the players in the world. His stamina, technique, speed and hard work made him a favorite, not just among the fans, but amongst the pundits and clubs as well. Cut to 2021 and the Chilean superstar is an unwanted man in his club. How did this happen?
There are several reasons for his downfall. In 2014, he joined Arsenal from Barcelona. There was a lot of hype around his signing and the fans were optimistic about his impact on the English Premier league and he did not disappoint. In his first season, he scored 25 goals in all competitions and won the FA cup and community shield in his first season. He was named as one of the players of the tournament and helped Arsenal finish 3rd only behind Manchester city and winners Chelsea. One month later, he won the Copa America with Chile as well. Over the next two seasons, sanchez managed to score 47 goals, 17 goals in 2015/16 and 30 goals in 2016/17. In the 2016/17 season, he was the leading goal scorer for the club and helped them win the FA cup. When the 2017/18 season started there was speculation about him leaving the club and joining one of the Manchester clubs. But the Chilean forward stayed at the club until for the first half of the season, but performed underwhelmingly, scoring only 8 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions.
In January 2018, Alexis Sanchez moved from London and joined Manchester united who was swapped with then Arsenal player Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Sanchez was reported to be on a wage on 505,000 pounds per week, making him the highest paid player in the premier league on a weekly basis. There was a lot of hype surrounding his signing and there were a lot of expectations as well. But after that, things started to fall apart for him. He played 18 games in that season in all competitions for Manchester United and only scored 3 goals. There was speculations that he was unable to adjust to the new environment. The next season was even worse for him. In the start of the season, he failed to find his footing again as he only scored 1 goal in his first 10 games of the premier league before picking up a hamstring injury which kept him out of action. Things did not get better for Sanchez as he completely fell out of the plans of the newly appointed manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer. He finished the season playing 27 games and scoring 2 goals in all competitons.
The next season, he was sent out on loan to Inter Milan, which was a sign that he was not needed by solskjaer. His form did not improve as he scored 4 goals in 32 games in all competitions, but it seemed like he liked his time in Italy during that season and it looked like he was in the plans of Antonio Conte, who was the manager of Inter Milan at that point because Alexis Sanchez moved from Manchester United to Inter Milan on a permanent basis. In the 2020/21 season, he managed to win the Serie A title and finished the season with 7 goals in 38 games in all competitions. But things fell apart again for him when Antonio Conte left the club. Inter appointed Simone Inzaghi as their new club manager. Since then Sanchez has only started three games for the club and has played less than 20 minutes in all of the champions league games that he was involved in.
He then went to Marseille, played for one season and went back to Inter Milan, a club he left after one season as well.
Now he has joined his new club Udinese, who are struggling in the league. Alexis Sanchez and Udinese are in similar situations. Both have had a rough 4 to 5 years and are hoping for a turnaround. The form of the 36 year old has dropped many levels over the last few years, but hopefully his old club can turn his fortunes around.

Ruben Amorim warned of the 'real challenge' he faces at Man Utd as Jamie Carragher explains why 'faith evaporated' for Erik ten Hag, Jose Mourinho & Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford
