Brothers
Maybe one where Roman or Remus have a very bad anxiety attack/spiral & the other helps them outta it and comforts them? Just some h/c creativitwins. â oatmeal-stans-the-trash-rat
Read on Ao3
Warnings: hypothermia, remus has abandonment issues
Pairings: none
Word Count: 4093
In the Imagination, where one brother is as warm as the fire burning evermore in the hearth, another may be trapped in the freezing gales. They come as a pair: do not separate them.
The metal screeches and whines as it buckles under the force of the crash. Remus tightens his grip over his mouth, squeezing himself further into the corner. The walls shudder and shake as the low groan of the machinery resets. He presses the shaking fingers of his free hand to the burning cold metal wall and inches forward. His breath freezes in his mustache. She risks a glance over his shoulder.
No shadows, no nothing, heâs still undetected in this frozen hellhole. He grits his teeth against the bitter chill and inches forward.
Slam!
Another crash of whining screeching metal and the reverberation smashes into his ribs. The force of inhaling the cold air so sharply makes his lungs burn and his throat weep. How long has he been here? How far has he come?
How close is he to getting out?
Itâs so cold. Itâs so fucking cold. He covers his mouth with the end of his sleeve just for a second, just to get the itching burning freezing sensation off of his face and the moment he takes it away, the steam from his breath has already frozen. He grits his teeth and keeps going, edging through the massive sprawling halls in the hopes that heâs just moving somewhere.
Would it kill this place to have any fucking signage at all? Even just a set of emergency lights being like âhey, in the event that itâs brutally fucking cold and you need to get out before you turn into a living ice cube, head this way?â Hell, Remus would even take flashing disco rave lights over the cold indifference of the flickering buzzing fluorescent things embedded in the ceiling.
Slam!
Remus jumps and hisses at the protest of his aching muscles. Canât fucking slow down. Canât stop moving. Stopping means giving in to the cold.
Dread creeps steadily up his spine as he keeps moving through the endless bleak hallways. What if heâs trapped in here forever? Itâs so cold, he knows heâll die if he stays here too long. heâs already been here too long, he needs to get out of here yesterday, and the slamming sounds like itâs getting closer, but thatâs impossible. Itâs impossible because itâs coming from behind him, always behind him, and itâs still getting closer. Is it moving? It canât be moving, something that big, that dangerous, moving that quickly, thatâsâhowâhow could it be doing that?
Slam!
Finally, finally, he sees a fucking door. A big one, a big sliding door like garages have. He sprints for itâor at least, he tries to, but his legs have long ago iced over and trying to make his knees bend and unbend is like pulling them through frozen tar. He stumbles and slams into the wall, grunting in pain, but he lands close enough to the buttons to jam his thumb into the one that says âOPEN.â
With a hissing grinding screech, the door slides upwards, closing a wave of freezing snow through the now gaping opening. Remus winces, huddling behind the corner of the wall, squinting to peer out through the mess. Concrete pillars loom out of the storm, but nothing else.
He risks a glance behind him.
Slam!
No time to waste. He ducks through the door and winces as it immediately begins to slide shut. Frantically he scrabbles for something to prop it open, for a control panel on this side, but thereâs nothing but burning cold metal and unyielding concrete and the door shuts with a resounding thud thatâs quickly lost in the gale of the storm.
Alright. Well, heâs out here now. This is fine. This is fine. He definitely wonât die quicker out here. He definitely wonât die more painfully out here. He definitely knows all of the bad things that could be out here, that could be lurking behind the white clouds, that he might not even be able to hear over the rush of the howling winds. Speaking of those, his ears hurt almost immediately and his head is already aching from the sheer force of the wind smacking his eardrums. He rushes for the closest pillar, trying to huddle behind it out of the wind, but the wind is coming from everywhere and there's no relief from being pressed up against the freezing concrete. He glances behind him for the door but it's already disappeared in the blinding snow.
Forward it is.
Despite the fact that he knows it wonât do anything, he keeps going from pillar to pillar, just to have something to hold onto as the icy winds race around. Surely, surely has has to be close to something, something else that will get him out of the wind for even a moment, something he can just rest up against for a second.
Pillar after pillar after pillar after pillar and everything in Remus shuts down except for the parts that have to move his body and the repeating words of next one, next one, next one, next oneâŚ
He has no brain left to remember that there can be an infinite amount of next ones.
Be it mercy, spite, or sheer boredom, the pillars come to an abrupt halt at the edge of a vast, flat plain. The concrete under his feet drops off onto an icy white ground that stretches out as far as he can seeâwhich isnât that much through all the wind and snow. Still, just as he did with the door, he hangs back for a moment, clinging to the pillar, glancing over his shoulder at the shadows of the others behind him. Could he go back? Plead for some entry back into the freezing building with the grinding and smashing machinery? Or should he venture into this unknown freezing nothingness where the wind and snow could strip his flesh from his bones?
From the distance behind him, he hears a great shuddering groan and yeah, no, thatâs his cue to get the fuck out.
He steps onto the ice and starts to trudge away from the pillars. They disappear in a swirling rush of ice and snow and he hunches around himself, just to keep going. Just keep going, just keep going. Where is he going? Where did he come from? What was in that building? What were the pillars for? Why was it so cold? Why is it so cold? Why is he here? What did he do? Why does the world hate him? Why canât he be better? Why canât they just tell him what to do to make all of this stop?
He loses himself in the snow.
After crunching through countless hours of mind-numbing limping, he glances up and sees a dark smudge on the horizon. He squints through the gale but canât see anything more. He keeps going, having to shield his eyes and face every once in a while before looking back up just to make sure he wasnât imagining the smudge. But it grows larger and larger and larger still, until he can make out a tree line slowly approaching from the horizon.
He doesnât even have the energy to be excited about it. He just keeps trudging forward. The wind bites into his exposed flesh everywhere it can, sinking icy fangs into the cracking skin on his hands, his face, his ears. His head is splittingâor it should be, with all the cold wind rushing past, why canât he feel his head hurting? He tries to raise a hand to paw weakly at his head but his fingers just slide off uselessly. He doesnât even have the energy to panic.
From the distance, he hears the thud, thud, thud of massive footsteps.
He looks up.
Coming from the snow, he sees a hulking dark mass coalescing in front of him. Paws the size of his torso, a head that looms several feet above him, eyes that pierce through the wrath of the storm.
The wolf comes to a stop in front of him, steam billowing from its mouth and nose.
Remus stumbles forward, one of his useless heads making to stretch up to his nose, but his arm refuses to raise. A soft and frightened keen leaves his throat as his legs buckle into the snow. His head feels fuzzy. Itâs so cold. Itâs so cold.
The wolfâs maw opens, teeth the size of Remusâs arm, and leans down to close his jaws around him.
At first, he attributes the fact that he canât feel the pain from how cold he is, only to feel a different rush of wind as heâs lifted up into the air. He manages to open one eye enough to see the movement of the paws as the wolf carries him through the storm. He lets his head flop the other way and comes alarmingly close to one of those giant piercing eyes. The wolf huffs as quietly as he can with him in his mouth and keeps moving, getting closer and closer to the tree line. His warm breath is the worst thing Remus has ever felt and he never wants it to go away, ever, and he slips into a half-conscious daze as the wolf makes it to the forest proper.
Out of the worst of the wind, the sounds of the wolf become more distinct. Twigs and branches alike snap as he picks his way through the trees, his massive head swinging back and forth to safeguard the precious cargo in his teeth. A hysterical part of Remus wants to cuddle one of the teeth, just to have something to hold onto. But his arms are still refusing to work and his hands burn every time he even thinks about moving them to get warm, so he just whimpers and lets the wolf carry him through the trees.
It suddenly occurs to him how funny this is. Heâs being carried by a wolf. Heâs in the wolfâs mouth. Heâs in a snowy forest and a wolf is carrying him in his mouth like heâs a chew toy and heâs all cold like a piece of ice. Hysterical giggles start to bubble up out of his throat, each one falling like an ice cube and shattering against the ground as the wolf walks on. Babbles and snatches of what might be words start to slide from his blue-bruised lips.
âWolf,â he mumbles, âforest, coldâŚstopping for meâŚstopping, stoppingâŚcarry meâŚcarriage meâŚcouldnât stop, could not stopâŚstop for meâŚcarriage held meâŚâ
Heâs not sure how much time passes but slowly, he realizes that the air isnât biting into him anymore. The wind isnât rushing past him anymore. The wolfâs paws arenât crunching into the ice anymore. He doesnât have the strength to turn his head and see where they are. The wolf lets out a soft growl and begins to lower him.
âOh, whatâs this?â He hears another voice. Who is that? âDid you bring me something toâRemus?â
The wolf growls again, firmer this time, and he hears the pitter-patter of footsteps and something touches his shoulder.
âRe? Re, can you hear me? Fuck, youâre freezingââ
Roman? Is that Roman? Remus tries to roll over a little bit, just to see him, and Romanâs face swims into view.
âRoâŚâ
âOh, Re,â Roman says breathlessly, arms around him, âwhat have you done this time, huh?â
âIt was cold.â
âIâm sure it was, youâre like a little ice cube.â Roman slides his arm under Remusâs knees and picks him up like he doesnât weigh anything. âCome on, letâs get you all warmed up.â
Over his shoulder, Remus sees the wolf lie down and put his head on his paws. He lifts his useless fingers in a pitiful attempt at a wave and the wolf huffs.
âCome on, Re,â Roman murmurs, carrying him inside theâcabin, theyâre in a cabin, the wolf brought him to a cabinâ âweâre gonna get you all warmed up, okay?â
âCold,â Remus gasps, âso coldââ
âI know, Re, I know. Come on, Iâve got you now.â
The warm air hits him like a live wire, suddenly heâs shivering and twitching so much Roman has to tighten his grip just to keep a hold of him. Pain lances through his limbs and he whimpers, trying to hide in the lea of Roman as they move through the cabin.
âShh, shh, I know, I know, Iâve got you, itâs okay,â Roman keeps murmuring as they make it to the bathroom, âIâve got you now, Iâll take care of you.â
He lets out another noise when Roman starts to lower him, but it morphs into confusion when he comes to rest on somethingâŚsoft? Roman kneels down next to him.
âWe need to get these wet clothes off,â he says softly, âcan I help?â
Well, considering Remusâs hands are about as helpful as a jackhammer for a migraine, he nods and Roman begins to dreadfully peel him out of his frozen clothes. Some part of his brain registers that this should be funny, shouldnât it? Roman peeling him out of his clothes? But what makes it so terribly unfunny is that it hurts. It just hurts. Itâs cold and then it isnât as cold but then that starts to burn and so he wants the cold back but he doesnât want the cold back because the cold hurts and he doesnât want to hurt anymore, he just want it to stop, make it stop, make it stopâ
âShh, shh,â Roman keeps whispering as Remus jerks and whines, âI know, I know, Iâm right hereâŚâ
Even the warm air from the bathroom is too much; Heâs still shivering like crazy which isâŚprobably a good thing, because that means he still can shiver, but still, his muscles are protesting every time he jerks and shudders. Roman just hushes him again, patting theâtowel, itâs a towel, thatâs what Remus is sitting on.
âHey, come on, lie down for me, okay? Iâm gonna go get some blankets and warming packs and weâll get you all warmed up, okay?â
Remus latches onto his sleeve when he tries to stand up. âD-donât go. Donât l-leave me.â
âIâm just going next door, I promiseââ Remus whinesâ âyouâll watch me the whole time, okay?â
But Remus just clings onto his, still whimpering and shaking and Roman closes his eyes for a long moment.
Shuffling comes from the other room and the door is nudged open by a still-large-for-a-normal-wolf-but-much-smaller-than-it-was nose as the wolf carefully deposits blankets and warm packs into the bathroom. Roman murmurs his thanks as he sets about getting Remus sitting upright against his own chest, pressing the warm packs carefully against his chest and neck.
âWe canât warm you up too fast,â he whispers as Remus shudders, âwe have to be careful, okay?â
âWarmâŚâ
âYeah, buddy, you can be warm now.â Roman adjusts his hold to make them more comfortable. âWhat were you doing that got you so freezing?â
Remus shakes his head, turning to rest his cheek against Romanâs shoulder. âWarehouse. Office building. Giant. Cold.â
âYouâyou were in a warehouse? Or an office building? What were you doing in there?â
âHallways. There were so many hallways. Big thing. Slam. Sounded close. Had to go.â
âYou were in an office building with a lot of hallways, and there was a big thing slamming into something close to you?â Remus nods. âOkay, do you know what it was?â
He shakes his head, whimpering at the shock of pain in his fingers. âHad to go.â
âOkay, okay,â Roman soothes, turning his head and blowing warm air over the spot behind Remusâs ear, âyou had to go. Where did you go?â
âBig door. Outside. Concrete pillars.â Remus shivers again. âSnow. So much snow.â
âIs that where the wolf found you?â Remus nods. âOkay. Iâm glad he found you.â
âIs heâŚstill there?â
âI donât think he wanted to stay that size, I think heâs gone back to waiting outside for us. But heâs still there.â
Another pained whimper leaves his lips and Roman tightens his grip a little, rocking them back and forth. As he starts to come back to himself, he looks around the bathroom. The walls and floor are made of a soft gray stone, a bathtub right across from them and a shower tucked against the far wall. Behind him, he can see the shadows of the sink and cabinets. A basket sits at the base. Heâs sitting on a peach towel with a blanket draped haphazardly over him. Romanâs ice packs are a dark blue.
âHow are you doing,â Roman murmurs after another moment, âyou feeling a little better?â
âMm.â Remus tries to flex his hand and winces. âHurts.â
âI know, bud. Thatâs probably a good sign, though, yeah?â
âMmpf.â
Roman chuckles and nuzzles his head against Remusâs. âWeâre gonna get you a little warmer here first, then we can move you to a bed and get you all bundled up. do you think you can drink something?â
âCold?â
âNo, Iâll get you some warm water. Thatâll help.â
âNot hot chocolate?â
Roman laughs again. âNo, Remus, we have to be careful, okay? Once you get a little bit warmer, then weâll see.â
Remus pouts, not that Roman can see it, but lets himself be snuggled back against Romanâs chest. Roman reaches over to switch out the warm pack, the brief absence leaving Remus oddly bereft before another one comes to replace it.
âCan I close my eyes?â
Roman sighs. âIf I were Logan, Iâd be able to tell you if it was okay if you fell asleep, but I donât know.â
âI said close my eyes, not fall asleep.â Thereâs a telling moment of silence. ââŚfine.â
âCome on, you want to stay awake for your hot chocolate, donât you?â
âThatâs cheating.â
Roman laughs and gives him another gentle squeeze. âCome on, Re, youâre doing great. You can do it.â
Remus grumbles half-heartedly, but Romanâs right. The cold is slowly giving him his body back, even though the pain has yet to fully abate and heâs still fucking freezing. But Roman has him, heâs inside now, and heâs actually safe.
Something twinges in his chest.
After a while Roman pronounces him safe enough to move and coaxes him to sit up. He quickly wraps another blanket over his shoulders so none of his warmth escapes and ruffles Remusâs hair.
âIâm gonna go get you some warm water, okay?â
Remus mumbles some form of acquiescence and Roman smiles, getting up and walking out to the rest of the cabin. Remus hears a sink turn on and the sound of a cup being filled, and after another moment, Roman returns with a mug and a straw sticking out of it.
âSlowly, now,â he says and he couches down and holds the straw up to Remusâs lips, âtake your time, okay?â
The warm water feels fucking great as Remus drinks it. It pools in the core of him and he can just imagine itâs like a hot spring, making him thaw from the inside out. Which was probably the point. Would be better if it was hot chocolate, though.
âPatience, Re.â
âDoesnât a hot chocolate spring sound great, though?â
âWe can work on that when youâre not a little Remus ice cube.â
âWeâre literally the same age.â
But Roman makes him drink the warm water and sit there for a little longer until he can at least move around without feeling like his limbs are about to shatter off. Then heâs picked up, swaddled in blankets, and carried off through the cabin.
âSince when are you this strong?â
Roman just laughs at him. âYou havenât been paying attention then, hm?â
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â Roman laughs again. âDonât laugh at me, Roro, answer me!â
Roman does not, in fact, answer him, but he does put him down on a fucking huge bed. Itâs literally half the size of the bathroom they were just in, covered with blankets and furs and pillow and Remus is letting out a soft noise before he can stop himself.
âItâs okay,â Roman says softly, pulling back the covers and coaxing him under everything, âthere, thatâs better, isnât it? You feel okay?â
Remus is most definitely not okay, because now heâs in this big warm bed with all these blankets piled on top of him and itâs the most comforting warm weight he could possible imagine and itâs all soft and cozy and it smells like pine and cinnamon spice and heâs with Roman and heâs safe and heâs still so so cold but he might be able to be warm now and heâs crying and sobbing and shivering.
âOh, Re,â he hears Roman murmur, and then warm hands are bushing tears from his cheeks and ruffling his hair, âhey, hey, shh, shh, itâs okay, youâre okay, youâre safe now.â
âWanââwanââwanâ you,â Remus gasps out, âcomeâpleaseâplease!â
Roman pulls away and he lets out a broken whine but then the bed is dipping and the blankets are shifting and warmsoftsolidsafereal Roman is sliding in next to him and opening his arm and Remus wraps himself around him like a Kraken.
âFuck, Re, youâre still freezing.â Roman pulls him close and lets him curl up under his chin. âYou come here, Iâve got you. Iâll keep you safe.â
âI was so scared,â Remus sobs out, âit was so cold, I was so scared, so scaredââ
âShh, shh, itâs okay, itâs okayââ
ââThere was nothing! There was no one, it was justâjust so cold and so grey and everything hurt andâandââ
âHush, Re, shh, shh, shhâŚâ
ââitâs gonna keep happening, everyoneâs just gonna l-leave and Iâm gonna be on my own and cold and itâs gonna come smash me apart âcause you wonâtâwonât want me anymore and Iâm so cold, Iâm so cold, donât leave me there!â
Roman goes quiet. His grip never wavers even for a second, Remus still sobbing and clinging to him like a wet cat. He can feel Romanâs chest shudder under him and then a warm mouth presses against his ear.
âIâll never leave you there, you hear me? Never. Youâre my brother. Iâve lost you too many times already. Youâre fucking stuck with me, okay?â He presses a fierce kiss to Remusâs head. âIâll come get you every time if I have to.â
âIâm so scared, Ro,â Remus whimpers, âIâm so scared.â
âShh, shh, itâs okay. Itâs okay, you can be scared, Iâll be here to help.â
The thing in his chest unspools ever further and he just collapses into a heap of tears in Romanâs arm. The bed is warm and his brother is here and thatâs all he needs to worry about right now.
âHey,â Roman murmurs into the quiet room, âyou okay?â
His head hurts from being cold and from crying, his chest feels like heâs run a marathon through a frozen tundra, and his body aches like nothing heâs ever felt before.
But he smiles weakly and nods, nuzzling his head under Romanâs chin.
âCan I have my hot chocolate now?â
Roman chuckles warmly. âTell you what. Let me get you some more hot water, you have a little nap, and then when you wake up, Iâll make you some hot chocolate.â
âCan I have a warm shower too?â
âAnd a warm shower too.â He ruffles Remusâs hair. âNow go to sleep, you menace.â
âYour face is a menace.â
âSee, thatâs how we know youâre tired, because youâre resorting to the âyour faceâ jokes.â
âYour face is a your face joke.â
âThat doesnât even make sense.â
âYour face doesnât make senseâah! Hey!â Remus yelps as Roman tickles up his back. âNo, no, no!â
âAre we done with the âyour faceâ jokes?â
âYour face isâeep!â
âAre we?â
âYes! Yes, okay! Iâm done, Iâm done!â Roman chuckles and rubs firmly at Remusâs back to soothe any phantom tingles. âHow am I the menace?â
ââCause youâre my brother and those are the rules.â
Remus grumbles but doesnât pull away. Roman keeps running his fingers up and down his back, humming slightly.
âShh, Re. Go to sleep now, okay? Hot chocolate and warm shower when you wake up.â
âPromise?â
âI promise.â
ââŚpromise you wonât leave?â
Roman tightens his grip and tucks their heads together. âI promise that too.â

Everyoneâs going to have to deal with my brain rot but hereâs some Brady/Ham HCâs <3 likes and reblogs highly appreciated!!!
MOTA Masterlist!
â˘Hambone grew up with just him and his mom. His father dipped when he was too young to remember. Although he tries to make half assed appearances.
â˘A true mommas boy!
â˘He fr has abandonment/rejection issues because of his fatherâŚ
â˘He also has an extensive amount of anger issues. Especially when he was kid.
â˘He would get into fights at the playgroundâŚthatâs how he ended up with the gold teethâŚ
â˘He literally pushed Brady off of the monkey bars at recess on his first day and broke his arm.
â˘The next day he sat next to Brady at lunch and signed his cast.
â˘âwhy are you signing my cast when youâre the one who made me need it?â
⢠âsigning my work, duhâ
â˘Best friends from that day on.
â˘Hams got fucked up teeth okay? Heâs had braces through most of middle school and all of high school.
â˘When he gets his braces tightened Brady brings him soft food for the couple days of pain.
â˘He has an orange cat named Garfield
â˘internalized homophobiaâŚthatâs all I gotta sayâŚ
â˘Ham tends to pent up his emotions and just not talk about them.
â˘His coping technique? Showing up at Bradyâs at ungodly hours of the night to have sex with him.
â˘Now for Brady he grew up in a house of all women. he has two moms and three little sisters. Heâs a little girly pop, okay?
â˘Brady is a rich boy but itâs kinda on the down low. His family lives in the same neighborhood as the Clevens if that tells you anything.
â˘Brady has OCD and Ham really is the first one to notice that all these symptoms have been growing and piling.
â˘Ham urges him to tell his moms about it because it got to a point where he couldnât manage and suppress it anymore.
â˘After heâs diagnosed it was hard for awhile because he felt so weak about it. He made Hambone promise not to tell anyone about it.
â˘Heâs on a cocktail of SSRIâs and it took five ever to find the right mixture for him.
â˘Bradyâs true passion in life is to become a fashion designer. He always dresses himself well and accessorizes with lots of gold jewelry.
â˘He makes Hambone model the clothes he makes.
â˘See, their relationship is highly complicatedâŚGale is the only one who knows the extent of their mess of a situationship. (Gale and Brady work together at a local grocery store.)
â˘Ham is lowkey kinda toxic to Brady for a hot momentâŚhis communication skills are shit and he doesnât know how to manage his emotions.
â˘Thereâs one night that curved their relationship Iâll def be writing about laterâŚ
â˘When Ham finally comes to his senses about his feelings he flat out asks Brady out while theyâre cuddling together.
â˘"brady will you be my boyfriend."
â˘"yeah of course dumbass, aren't i already at this point? idiot.â
â˘They sealed the deal with a kiss.
â˘They kept their relationship private for months until Prom rolled around.
â˘They rolled up to the function in matching cheetah print blazers Brady made them and cool sunglasses.
â˘When Bubbles comes over to take their picture for the year book. Brady grabs Ham by the lapels of the blazer and smashes his lips into his.
â˘Bubbles literally goes đŽ behind the camera and pushes the shutter button.
â˘Bubbles runs to tell Croz.
â˘Croz goes and tells John.
⢠John rushes over to Gale and literally out loud goes âDid you know Ham and Brady were dating!?â
â˘Gale smirks because he already knew.

Seven Minutes in Avernus (BG3 fic)
Karlach & Astarion, developing friendship, character study
If sheâs going to be entirely honest with herself, the moment that Tav suggests flying off with Gale to search the Rosymorn monastery rooftop for more ceremonial weapons, Karlach feels a certain amount of reluctance.
Not that she minds the job. Not that she minds being unable to fly (well, she does, but itâs not like sheâs going to learn at this point).Â
The thing is, without Gale and Tav, she has to spend the day on her own with⌠Astarion.Â
Itâs not like sheâs prejudiced. After all, sheâs fought alongside literal devils before. Why should she bat an eye now at working with a vampire?Â
And itâs not like heâs ever given her neck a glance before, and even if he did, her neck would probably burn off his pretty little lips before he could do much damage.Â
No, Karlach is definitely not afraid of Astarion. Itâs more just⌠awkward. She feels awkward about him. Heâs all smiles and winks and fancy words like an Upper City patriar, and she can barely string together a sentence without blurting out a swear. Heâs rakish and charming, while she canât even hold hands without investing in a sturdy pair of gloves.Â
Not to mention the fact that sheâs caught him more than once rolling his eyes whenever Tav agrees to a job that doesnât come with a sack of gold attached to it. That actually kinda pisses her off a little bit, to be honest. The way he sneered at the thought of standing up to Kagha like the lives of a few dozen families with nowhere else to turn were nothing but mud under his bootsâŚÂ
Still, sheâs worked with plenty worse people before. You donât have to love everyone on your team, Karlach is highly aware. The fact that Tav is such a gem is lucky, and so sheâs more than willing to spend a few hours rifling through some old monastery with Astarion if thatâs what Tav wants from her.Â
They make an odd pair, Astarion padding down the ruinous monastery corridors like a panther, while she keeps managing to scrape a horn on the low door frames. They barely look like they come from the same universe. Still, heâs good at what he does; sheâs good at what she does. If they get into a scrap, heâll probably stick around and have her back. Probably.Â
As they pass yet another crumbling statue, Karlach notices that Astarion has paused, although his footsteps are nearly silent.Â
âWhat?â she asks, jogging back a pace or two once itâs clear that he is not planning to follow.Â
âWhat indeed,â he muses to himself with frustrating slowness, eyes tracing the contours of an old statue of Lathander with his face smashed in.Â
âYou planning to pick his big stony pockets, or can we keep moving?â Karlach asks impatiently, a few sparks tingling against the back of her neck.Â
Astarion gives her an unfriendly smile and then, quick as lightning, slips behind the statue. She hears the unmistakable sound of a button depressing, and then the back of the statue nook opens into a small doorway with a rumble of stone.Â
Astarionâs silvery head pokes back out, his grin satisfied and disconcertingly pointy.Â
âPocket picked,â he says silkily. âSuch astute advice as always, darling.âÂ
Karlach sighs, but gives him a nod of approval before she shoulders forward to duck into the little secret room heâs uncovered. The interior is barely wide enough for the two of them, and Karlach has to keep her arms tight to her sides to avoid scorching the elbows of his fine tunic.Â
âSee anything weapon-shaped?â she asks, squatting down to sort through a few dusty boxes and rotten baskets piled up on the floor. âOr are we in the top-secret monastery broom cupboard?âÂ
âLetâs just see if the monks have left us any brooms behind that loose brick below the wall sconce,â Astarion remarks dryly, and Karlach follows where his finger points to an oddly unsealed stone on the back wall.Â
âNicely done!â Karlach grins, trying her best to keep things cordial despite her sour mood.Â
âRight, so if youâll just allow me a moment to take a peek, Iâll check it out, ensure that nothing isââ Astarion continues, trying to edge past her towards the loose brick.Â
Karlach, however, is fairly certain that what he means by âpeekâ is actually âloot.â And Tav could use the gold, she knows.Â
Karlach is just looking out for the group. Itâs what she was trained to do. Donât let the vampire skim off of the top, she thinks. So she reaches up and pops out the brick herself.Â
The first thing that happens is a flash of blinding light. The second thing is a heavy grinding sound and Astarionâs hiss of pain as he pulls his fingers back from being crushed in a swift attempt to stop the door from closing behind them.Â
The third thing that happens is that Karlach does indeed pull something heavy out from the hidden compartment behind the brick, and that something is, unfortunately not a ceremonial weapon of a Dawnmaster.Â
It feels, depressingly, like a big and very dusty book. At least Gale will be pleased.Â
âTrapped!â Astarion finishes his sentence indignantly. âEnsuring that nothing is trapped, you brainlessâ!âÂ
âSorry, sorry, my fault, I know,â Karlach groans and then swears under her breath. âIâll put it back.âÂ
Replacing the book results in an anticlimactic big load of nothing. She even slides the brick back in and out a few times, just to be sure.Â
No door. No opening.Â
Astarion curses and then slips underneath her arm to fiddle with the brick himself in the vain hope that his nimble fingers can do what hers cannot. Â
She concedes and steps back. In the meantime, she swings her hammer down from over her shoulder so that she can give the stones now sealing them in a good whack. Unfortunately, a good whack does not do it.Â
âHit it harder!â Astarion demands, which is really not helping. âSweet hells, you can cleave a man straight down the center and now suddenly a few bricks are too much?âÂ
âJust give me a second!â Karlach shoots back. She clenches her teeth, trying to summon her strength without giving in to the endless, blazing heat in her chest. Probably no point in reminding Astarion that she could very easily barbecue him if this goes wrong.Â
With a heaving grunt of effort, she bashes the hammer into the wall in front of them. It springs back lithely, the force of her blow repelled with an exuberant bounce and an unmistakable flash of activating runes.Â
Astarion makes a noise of agonized frustration in his throat.Â
âOf course! Naturally! What better way to catch a thief than to magically seal him in with his would-be prize?â he laughs bitterly. âWell this is just perfect. Utterly perfect!âÂ
âOkay, I get it,â Karlach snaps back, no longer able to play nice. âI bungled this one up pretty bad. I get it.âÂ
âColorful as always, Karlach, but Iâm afraid âbungledâ isnât really sufficient here.â
âCome on, soldier, you donât find it a little bit funny?â She pleads. âWe get trapped in a magic cupboard together and you donât even make a âseven minutes in Avernus with Kalachâ joke?âÂ
âTry hitting it again,â he replies stiffly.Â
Karlach pinches the bridge of her nose. âLetâs just⌠look. So itâs not that funny. Itâs uncomfortable. Itâs awkward. But Tav and Gale will be back soon enough. One of them will be able to break us out. Letâs just⌠sit tight for a bit, I guess.âÂ
âSit tight,â Astarion repeats under his breath, his tone a cruel parody of her own. She grits her teeth.Â
While Karlach squats down and tries to make herself comfortable on the pile of rotten baskets, Astarion remains upright, his fingers combing over the bricks for any sign of a release. Itâs hard to make out his face in the dark, but in the glow of her faintly pulsing engine, she can tell that his lip is curled back with disgust.Â
Karlach leans back and props a foot against the wall in front of her. She wonders if she might be able to fit in a nap. She would really like to be asleep for this.Â
An amount of time passes that could have been anywhere from ten to a thousand minutes. The tiny room is getting warmer, Karlach is highly aware. The silence is so complete, she wonders if sheâs gone deaf.Â
Donât count the seconds, she tells herself. Just like she canât count the days. Take the moments as they come and definitely donât think about the fact that after ten years, she might be spending her precious last few months roasting to death in this shitty little room with a particularly spiteful vampire for company.Â
Then, the quiet is broken by a sharp, rhythmic clink of metal against stone. Karlach flinches, whirls around to face the source of the racket and gets an unpleasant scattering of sharp stone fragments across her face.Â
âWhat are youâ? Are you planning to dig your way out of here with a dagger ?â she exclaims in disbelief, spitting a few bits of grit out of her mouth as Astarion continues ramming his blade into the wall.Â
âItâll be slow,â he snarls back. âBut itâs better than nothing. And I, unlike you darling, have plenty of time.âÂ
âYouâre going to blunt that blade,â Karlach warns. âWhich might actually be worse than nothing. Come on, Tav and Gale canât be much longer up on that roof!âÂ
âHa!â Astarion barks out another nasty laugh. âSuch naivete. And here I thought you were accustomed to dealing with devils.âÂ
âWhat in the hells is that supposed to mean?âÂ
The temperature is rising. In the tight space, it turns the air into an oven.Â
âIt means,â Astarion snarls, âthat youâre a fool if you actually believe either of them would waste their time searching for us when thereâs the very real possibility of a cure for their tadpoles right under our feet!âÂ
Karlach is so shocked and infuriated that for a moment she cannot speak, merely flap her mouth up and down like some bad puppet at a pantomime theater. Astarion takes the opportunity to uselessly jam his dagger into the wall again.Â
âWhat? The fuck?â she finally settles on.Â
âThe bloodsucker and the soon-to-be exploding devil? Oh Iâm sure weâre a top priority!â Astarion continues, undaunted. His dagger continues to chip into the stones behind them, scraping dangerously close to her with every increasingly forceful swing he makes.Â
âTav wonât leave us,â Karlach swears, pushing herself back to standing. âGale would never. So stop swinging that blade around right now.âÂ
Astarion does not stop.Â
âNow, or I make you stop,â Karlach repeats. âWeâd be completely safe in here, if you would just have a little patience, if you would just knock it off !âÂ
He gouges the blade even harder into the mortar, deep enough that the blade sticks. In the few seconds that the dagger is out of commission, Karlach lunges forward and twists his hand away from it.Â
âDonât touch me,â he growls. Suddenly all pretense of friendliness is gone. His voice is pure, velvety murder.Â
By the gods, maybe she has been an idiot. Why had she let Tav keep a man like this so close? He might be seeking a cure for his infection like the rest of them, but heâd probably slaughter the whole camp in their sleep if he thought he could get away with it.Â
Karlach looks down, bracing herself for him to lunge, bite, slash out. Sheâll fight if she has to, knock him out if sheâs lucky.Â
Then, in the pulsing orange glow of the infernal engine beneath her ribs, she catches a glimpse of his face. In the dark, he hasnât maintained his savage smile. She is suddenly struck with the inexplicable thought that she never has actually seen him smile before. Not really.Â
Heâs terrified.Â
âAstarionââ she begins, releasing his wrist from her grip and drawing back.Â
He recoils away, pressing against the opposite wall like he might be able to compress himself into a crack and escape.Â
âIf you ever lay a hand on me again,â he rasps out, every word simmering with violence, âI⌠I will make you regret it a thousand times over.âÂ
âAlright,â Karlach agrees, trying to give him all the space she can in the tight little room. âAlright. Itâs all alright.â
âItâs obviously not,â he retorts venomously.Â
âItâs going to be,â Karlach urges. âLetâs just⌠letâs just start over. Weâre going to get out of here. Weâre on the same side. Weâll get out.âÂ
Astarion regards her for a moment, eyes half-lidded, still coiled up like a rattlesnake against the opposing wall. He forgets to breathe, she realizes, when heâs tense. His chest rises and falls irregularly, filling his lungs only when he needs to speak. His heart doesnât beat to flush his face or make his hands tremble. Without those tell-tale signs, how was she supposed to notice?Â
âHow much food do you have in your pack?â he finally asks, his tone eerily flat.Â
âDunno,â Karlach shrugs. âA week, maybe? Two if I stretch it, but Iâll be too tired to be much use in a fight then.âÂ
âWater?âÂ
âCanteen is half full, I guess,â Karlach shrugs. âBut it wonât come toââÂ
âThree days, then,â he interrupts icily. âAnd then youâll be dead. But at least youâll be out.âÂ
âYou⌠wonât be,â Karlach realizes aloud.Â
Astarionâs lip twitches slightly.Â
âNo,â he says, slowly and scornfully. âNo, I will not. I will persist, inevitably, until I have drained every drop from your desiccated corpse, until I have blunted every blade, and then⌠I will still be here. It could be weeks, months, years, centuries, and I will still be here, still trapped in this gods forsaken tomb.âÂ
His breath catches as he remembers to inhale again after the last word empties his lungs.Â
Karlach narrows her eyes.Â
âTomb?â She doesnât dare ask more.Â
She just knows that this little hidden room behind a statueâthis hardly fits the definition of a tomb.Â
Astarion does not answer, which kind of is an answer. He just turns back to the wall, to the dagger still jammed between the bricks, and starts carving again.Â
âThis isnât the first time, then?â she asks quietly.Â
His silence is an entire tale of its own. Fuck, Karlach thinks. Fuck .Â
Zarielâs army had never bothered much with punishments. Fighting in Avernus was punishment enough. Chains only really hurt when you pull on them. Every day had been just more of the same. Kill and win and remember that no one has your back, not ever, not here. She had been alone down there too, with no hope of getting out. She had waited ten years and no one had come back to save her.Â
So maybe she hasnât been trapped before, exactly. But she knows what it means to batter yourself against the bars of a cage and not be totally sure if youâre hoping to break the bars or let the bars finally break you.Â
âHere,â she decides. With one hand, she pulls a thin blade out of her back and holds it to the flesh of her arm. âCome on then, soldier. Might be a bit spicier than youâre used to, but if you catch it in a bowl and let it cool off first, I think it should work.âÂ
Astarion turns to look at that, his expression more unraveledâmore dead-alive, alive but deadâ than sheâs ever seen before. There is a terrible hunger in the way that his lip starts to peel back, a flash of white visible in the dim glow of the slow death she is carrying around. But there is something else there too.Â
For the first time, Karlach sees a hint of relief.Â
âYouâre serious?â he asks, the twitch of his hands belying the nonchalance of his words.Â
âAs a funeral,â Karlach promises with a grim smile. âJust stop short of draining me dry, alright? When Tav and Gale find us, you donât want to be locked in here with my exsanguinated corpse. Hard to explain that one, I think.âÂ
âYou really believe theyâll come for you,â he observes mildly. She doesnât miss the way he avoids the word âus.âÂ
âI do,â Karlach nods.Â
She has to believe that. If she didnât believe that, if she didnât believe that this time it will be different, that this short window of time sheâs lucked into will be worth ten of all of the bad, then sheâd probably lose her mind. Maybe thatâs why the little pointy bastard sheâs locked up with has already half lost his. He trusts them as much as she trusted him until about ten minutes ago.Â
âAnd,â she concludes, âIâm making it a matter of survival for you that you believe it too, just a little. You drink up, raise a toast, and make damn sure that Tav doesnât need to avenge me later.âÂ
Astarion draws suddenly close, fast and silent as a predator. There is no sensation of warmth against her elbow, no stirring of breath against her skin. She braces herself to press down, let the blood flow.Â
Before she can, something squirms deep in the base of her skullâa sickening sensation. For a moment, she is somewhere else, someone else. The world is pitch black, silent, walls pressing close. She feels her fingernails bleeding, shattered from weeks of scrabbling against the stone. But she cannot even do that now. Sheâs too weak. The ache of hunger, a hunger beyond anything she has ever felt, consumes every other sensation. Hunger, hunger, need. Life without anything necessary for living. Starving for a death that will not come.Â
Then, just as quickly as it began, the memory is gone. Karlach is herself again, albeit with a pounding headache building behind her eyes. And Astarion is still himself, eyes squeezed tightly shut as he fights against the tadpole that leaks mind and memory between them.Â
âTrapped,â Karlach gasps out. âHow long were youâ?âÂ
âLess than ten,â he finishes, voice tight and strained. The number is both a threat and an invitation; they are alike in only the worst ways.Â
âHow? Who?â she demands. âIâll rip âem to fucking pieces, I swear it, IââÂ
âNot if I beat you to it.âÂ
Karlach pauses, swallows, composes herself. Astarion takes a deep, intentional breath. Then he arranges his raw, fragmented face back into the smile.Â
âSave your blood,â he manages to smirk. âFor an hour, at least.âÂ
If he wouldnât catch on fire and she wouldnât get a knife buried in her gut, Karlach thinks, she could hug him right then.Â
Instead, she sits back against her corner of the wall. He slowly leans against his, arms wrapped defensively over his chest. In tight, uncomfortable silence, they wait. Itâs very clear, however, that from this point on, they are more than just companions of convenience.Â
Lifeâs funny, Karlach thinks, throwing your reflection back at you in a hundred warped mirrors. She didnât expect hers to be so small and well-coiffed.Â
When she finally hears footsteps coming down the hall outside, she almost forgets to shout. Astarion looks up fast, like he cannot entirely believe it. Like he cannot imagine what sound to even make.Â
She screams as loud as she can.Â
When Gale does dispel the enchantment sealing them in, he makes sure to grumble loudly about wasting a valuable spell on their foolishness.Â
Tav asks eagerly if theyâve found the last ceremonial weapon, but Karlach instead produces their hardwon book. Galeâs face lights up for a moment, but falls against when he reads aloud that this is apparently just âThe Private Confessions of Dawnmaster Vaseid.â Zealous with his dairy, that one, Karlach sighs.Â
Astarion barely speaks. He ignores Galeâs griping and Tavâs speculating and Karlach flipping curiously through the book (the Dawnmaster lived a wilder life than she had expected, dirty old bastard).Â
She watches him make his way straight to the landing of the ruined stairwell. Karlach cannot understand why for a moment.Â
Then she notices the beam of sunlight, the last rays before the swiftly approaching twilight, filtering through the cracks in the roof. She watches him crane his head up to let the light touch him. A little more, before the dark again. A little more life.Â
His eyes flick back, catching hers as she watches him. Karlach feels the engine in her chest flare, heat searing at the inside of her ribs. She presses a hand there, as though strength alone can hold back whatâs coming for her. It doesnât. It wonât. The night is falling soon enough.Â
So she forces herself to smile and so does he and the pair of walking dead go back to pretending that theyâre free at last.Â

HAPPY 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY DRAGALIA LOST!!! to mark this momentous occasion i decided to go back and recreate my old moveset for EUDEN AND MIDGARDSORMR FORGE A PACT WITH SMASH! this human and dragon duo have a unique playstyle that focuses on building up quick combos to help fill up a special meter as Euden who is a rather fast moving medium weight sword fighter. once the meter if full you can use the down special to transform into Midgardsormr for a limited amount of time to unleash devastating strength to overwhelm your foes! now for a quick rundown on their specials, starting with...
Euden's specials! which are as follows:
Neutral special, exalted fire: Euden shoots a flaming crescent from his sword that will move forward a set distance similar to clouds neutral special but if it makes contact with a foe it will continue on its path allowing you to hit multiple foes.
Side special, force strike: Euden will take a charging stance as a glowing arrow appears behind him and fills with a lighter color, when the b button is released once the arrow is fully glowing Euden will strike with a strong shield breaker attack, if b is let go before the attack is fully charged it will cancel the attack, it can also be aimed all 360 degrees.
Up special, blazing circlet: Euden will spin around with his blade outstretched and engulfed in flames spiraling him upward, if performed on the ground he will just spin in place instead of upward, think links spin attack but on fire and without the chargeable feature.
Down special when meter isn't full, Helper skills: Euden will call upon some of his closest allies to aid him in battle. each summon behaving almost like a mini assist trophy. the move has a 10 second cooldown to prevent spamming, also the summon order will not reset when K.O.ed. Euden can also freely move around once the ally is summoned on the field, allowing for some good combo potential with the ally. the order of summoning is as follows.
Elisanne, hallowed waters: Elly will leap upward and then strike downward with her spear while its coated in water mana, think a mix of yoshi and bowsers down specials mixed with corrins down air.
Ranzal, tornado bash: ranzal spins around his large axe trapping anyone who gets to close in a cyclone of hurt then at the end of the spinning he will swing his axe outward sending any foes caught flying, basically DK's up special but slower moving.
Luca, radiant bonds: Luca leaps upward and aims his bow at a slight downward angle and shoots an light mana charged mana arrow, the arrow will stun aany opponent it hits.
Cleo, elder cure: Cleo would float up into the air and hold her wand aloft and heals some of Eudens health.
the order then loops back to Elisanne repeating the cycle.
Down special when meter is full, Shapeshift: euden will ascend into the air and be enveloped in light which then disburses as he is transformed into Midgardsormr with whirlwind flows around him creating a weak hitbox to defend himself.
Final smash, exalted glory: Euden quickly dawns his gala armor and thrusts his sword into the ground, creating a radius of glowing energy around him dragging anyone he hits into a cutscene where the prince and his 4 allies join forces to unleash a powerful elemental barrage of attacks to send eudens foes flying. and now moving on to Midgardsormrâs specials.
Neutral special: Calamitious tempest. Midgardsormr would charge a ball of wind mana and launch it in an arc and when it lands or hits something it will explode into a blast of air, itâs chargeable which affects the strength and distance of the projectile.
Side special: Grand tempest. Midgardsormr claps his wings together to creat a small tornado that travels in a straight line a set distance then dissipates, anyone hit by the tornado will be launched straight up, making it a good tool for starting air combos, it also pushes mids back a bit cause of the powerful gale force of his wings clapping.
Up special: Tornado tail/Tornado spiral. On the ground Midgardsormr will perform his signature attack tornado tail, a powerful spin that sends near by foes flying. But in the air he instead summon a small tornado below him to push him upward, itâs similar to charizardâs up special.
Down special: Calamitous storm. Midgardsormr would unleash a powerful burst of wind mana around him devastating all those caught in its wake, but at a hefty cost, it drains his meter to empty forcing the player to revert back to Euden, the strength and size of the blast is dependent on how much energy is left in his dragon pulse meter. Like heroâs magic burst.
Final smash: Greatwyrms pact. Midgardsormr would let out a mighty roar that shakes the air around him, anyone to close to him would be dragged to a cutscene where the other 5 greatwyrms surround the players, the camera would then pan up to reveal Midgardsormr in his high dragon form charging a blast of wind mana, which he then unleashed on the foes and the other 5 greatwyrms also shoot off blasts their respected elemental mana. If the opponent is at over 100% damage itâs an automatic K.O. by learning how to take the unique playstyle's of both Euden and Midgardsormr in tandem you can overcome any obstacle in your path with ease. thank you for reading and heres to 5 years of remembering one of the greatest mobile games of all time and a forgotten gem of a nintendo franchise, heres hoping one day we will see the world of Dragalia Lost again. HAPPY 5TH ANNIVERSARY!!!

Which BG3 Character would be into Soulslikes
I asked a group chat, with my vote being Karlach (honorable mention to Jaheira). My reasons?
Lae'zel â gets too angry at the first boss because the character can't move like she does, rage quits, smashed controller optional
Gale â gets really into the lore and then gets annoyed about the lack of in-game library to spend all his time in.
Wyll â Too Spoopy for him. Prefers his fantasy more fantasy
Karlach â hell yeah brother. She's one of those bros that got into it when bloodborne got super popular, but she loves having the ability to face the horrors in a controlled settingâgetting to struggle and triumphâso long as she has a heat proof controller.
Astarion â refuses to play video games
Shadowheart â backseat gamer. Will watch Karlach play but refuses to play her self; claims she isn't interested but in reality just can never remember which button is what on a controller and has accepted that as her life now.

[CN] S2 Gavin and MC in Chapter 2 - Part Two
đ Warning: This post contains detailed spoilers for the Season 2 main storyline, which has not been released in English servers!đ
Be sure to read Part 1 first!
Things get intense after Lu Yi discovers that a particular STF member didnât participate in the investigation of MCâs company, and had touched the case of drugs when his teammate brought it back
That STF memberâs Evol is swapping objects. Keep this in mind ITâS VERY IMPORTANT.
How his Evol works: He needs to touch two objects. The item he touches the second time can then be switched with the first
Gavin is wary that the suspect might swap himself with another STF member, so they decide not to engage in any large scale action
Gavin: Tang Chao. As arranged, let MC leave this place safely. MC, Iâll look for you later.
MC understands that this is STF territory, so she agrees to leave
The STF member who leads her out is wearing a mask and is really shady...
While MC follows behind the shady STF member, the cogs in her brain start whirring: How could the culprit verify that the drugs were real or fake if he wasnât at the investigation? -> What if there were two people?!
She prepares to press the earpiece to talk to Gavin, but hears his voice:
Gavin: MC, get away from that person! Heâs F-45!
In the earpiece and behind me, I can vaguely hear the sound of explosions.
My feet halt. After hesitating for a second, I run in the direction where we came from.
He knew heâd definitely be discovered by Lu Yi, and so made a switch beforehand!
F-45 touches her and she gets swapped with F-45â˛s partner to view THIS MAGNIFICENT SIGHT:
In the next second, I see the cold muzzle of Gavinâs gun. Cold light is on his face, and itâs filled with austerity.
A startled expression flashes across his face for a moment, and his eyes widen slightly.
But the sharp bullet is already flying in my direction, and time seems to stand still.
The whistling of the bullet is the only sound remaining in the world.
The fired bullet continuously draws closer to me, as though itâd split my head apart in the next instant.
I know that F-45 has switched us. He must have touched his partner in order to carry out this plan.
To let me die here.
All the truths will be silenced with my death.
I know I canât be faster than the bullet, but I still grit my teeth, wanting to turn my head to the side.
Iâll never give up struggling. Iâll not just die here!
A violent wind whips up instantly.
Gavin: Get down!Â
Gavinâs eyes are stricken with terror. He stretches out his palm, green veins popping out on his forehead.
The frigid wind is mixed with an abnormal darkness, but all its strength is accurately and quickly concentrated at the front of the bullet.
The gale is at the fore of the bullet, as though they are engaging in a sharp confrontation.
The speed of the bullet is too fast, and it spins rapidly in the small windstorm.
In the next second, I see a strange figure behind Gavin.
MC: Gavin! Behind you!
The gale is next to me. In the windstorm, the bullet continues spinning fiercely.
Gavin lifts his hand, and the bullet flies off in the same direction.
It brushes the side of Gavinâs face lightly, hitting the person behind him.
F-45: Ah!!
In the next moment, F-45 touches himself. A small police emblem is swapped with where he stood previously.
Gavin protects me from the front, glaring at the STF emblem on the ground. His icy gaze is fixed on the two people.
The bullet had hit F-45â˛s thigh. The other culprit hits the emergency button.
MC and Gavin get trapped behind metal grilles while the culprits run off
Lu Yi speaks to them via the earpiece and identifies the other culprit, U-2, who joined STF 10 years ago. His Evol is creating explosions
U-2 uses his boom boom powers to destroy the cameras
While dramatic music ensues in the background, this happens:
MC: Gavin, can we break the glass behind us to escape?
Gavin: Itâs a wall.
MC: Huh?
Gavin: Itâs a projection. To beautify the environment.
Even under such circumstances, Gavin explains things to me seriously. It makes me feel like laughing.
I look at the two traitors, and my worry suddenly turns to ease.
MC: What should we do next?
Gavin: Protect yourself. Then, trust me.
He doesnât turn his head, but his tone is specially slowed down and made tender for me. At the same time, a fierce wind whips up in our surroundings.
The sparks in the manâs hands flicker. Behind him are surveillance cameras set ablaze and knocked to the ground.
I look at Gavin, who has had his shoulders straightened all this while, and I feel vaguely uneasy.
Is Gavin still afraid of fire?
The bright blood red colours flood Gavinâs eyes. He clenches his tense fingers slowly, his entire body seeming to react more slowly than usual.
As U-2 moves his palms, explosions ignite all around us. Broken circuits sizzle with electricity. Together with the crackling sparks, they create raging flames.
??: Save mum! I beg you to save mum!
??: Itâs not that Iâm standing idly by. Youâre too incompetent. You lack the ability to save your mother! From the start, you shouldnât have been born. Youâre the biggest flaw in my entire life!
The monstrous flames shroud his motherâs expression of despair, and Gavinâs own powerless cries for help.
A similar image suddenly surfaces in his mind, overlapping with a small voice, as though reminding him of his powerlessness.
He is unable to register the scalding sensation in his fingers. From that day onwards, something had changed.
Itâs just like wanting to write an important letter on a drenched sheet of paper. No matter how much hard he tries, the writing will always be hazy and unclear.
He shifts backwards unsteadily, stepping against the tip of the girlâs shoe.
The girlâs soft and gentle fingers pause on his back, causing his shoulders to tremble slightly.
He turns his head to look at her face. The light in her eyes are crystal clear, without a trace of fear in them.
She grips his slightly trembling palm gently, giving him a smile filled with confidence.
Just like her unreasonable smile on that rainy day.
His fingers gradually regain their warmth. The explosions outside the wind-constructed wall become even more violent.
U-2: Are you going to keep hiding?
Gavin blinks slowly, his eyes flickering with light from the flames. But this time, there isnât just fear in them.
Behind him, thereâs someone he needs to protect.
In his fiery orbs, Gavin seems to see that tiny him.
There are scars all over his body, deep unwillingness and sorrow in his eyes. Tears are streaming down his face as he walks towards himself.
When he walks to his side, Gavin tousles his head gently. Their profiles intersect. But this time, he walks in the direction of the fire.
Who exactly should decide oneâs value?
He steps onto the ground resolutely, looking at the man and the reckless flames, no longer retreating.
Gavin knows that this blood red colour will still be his nightmare, but she will be behind him.
Which is why he will not back down.
And this nightmare - someday, it will welcome the dawn.
Even though he canât answer that question right now, his existence is definitely not defined by other people.
The value of this existence - he will find it himself, and will prove that he has never been a flaw!
The incisive and limpid wind courses through countless sparks, channelling even bigger flames.
The man didnât seem to expect that the fire would grow this ferocious. He lifts his arm and retreats slightly.
At this moment, Gavin breaks through the light.
He crosses the wall of fire, one leg kicking the man onto the ground, using one leg to kneel on his back.
Without turning his head, he immediately lifts his gun, firing it behind him.
The bullet barely brushes past F-45â˛s finger just as he lifts it up.
Gavin: Donât move.
Wind brushes Gavinâs hair lightly. He handcuffs the man steadily.
The man is on the ground. While he struggles, a faint branding of a snake appears on the back of his neck.
The guy suddenly spits out blood and smiles ferociously at Gavin
Gavin realises what heâs about to do and INSTANTLY LUNGES THROUGH THE LARGE FIRE TOWARDS MC T-T
The guy smashes his head on the ground, causing a gigantic explosion
In the midst of the fire, MC is surrounded by a gentle wall of wind T-T
Gavin is panting slightly, his left arm leaning against the wall of wind, looking as though heâs fine.
MC: Gavin...
Gavin: Iâm fine, itâs just a small wound.
Just as I plan to lean over to take a careful look at his wound, I hear soft choking noises from afar off.
F-45 is still alive!
Gavin is prepared to stand up, but MC stops him by pressing on his shoulder, and itâs hinted that itâs coated with blood T-T
She says sheâll bring F-45 over. Despite Gavin saying she canât carry him, he still lets her go, using his Evol to pave a small path for her amid the flames
I turn my head to look at Gavin. The corners of his lips are lifted. His head is turned to the side, the light of the fire rippling slowly in his eyes, clear and resolute.
Gavin: Go carry him.
MC manages to get to F-45, but heâs on the verge of dying so she reads his memories:
Thereâs a little girl crying and telling F-45 about the class president who keeps bullying her. F-45 says heâll fetch her from school from then onwards so no one would dare to bully her
In the next image, MC sees a dark hall. Someone speaks: âThe existence of Evolvers was a mistake. They will only increase the despair in this world. They shouldn't have appeared in this world. We are Gray Rhino. We will get rid of Evol, for the future of humanity.âÂ
F-45 is in the crowd, and everyone has a snake branded on different parts of their bodies
The next image: The warehouse transaction, and a face she canât see clearly, though he has a mocking look in his eyes
The images vanish. F-45 is dead.
My hand trembles uncontrollably as I shut his eyes gently.
Gavin: MC.
In my blurry vision, Gavin stretches out his palm.
I walk to his side slowly, and he pats the top of my head gently.
Gavin: This isnât your fault.
Feeling awful, I nod, knowing clearly that now isnât the time to be despondent.
What I can do is remember the anger I'm experiencing right now.
She tells Gavin what she saw, and Gavin explains that Gray Rhino is an organisation which is against the existence of Evol, consisting of normal citizens and victims of Evol
STF has been investigating them, but didn't expect them to be related to the drugs
MC notices that Gavin is sounding very fatigued, and realises heâs been concealing his back from her
The fabric on his back has long since been scorched by the flames, revealing his skin which is gradually oozing droplets of blood. The shocking large patch of red seems to emanate heat from the flames.
Simply looking at it tugs at the nerves which perceive pain.
Even though he quickly blocked off that manâs explosion, the violent explosion still completely lashed at his back.
All of the wind was encasing me, leaving only a little for himself.
Because he still used his Evol in his injured state, his wound has been exacerbated.Â
Waves of heat continuously rise up my chest. I grit my teeth and look at Gavin, whoâs putting on a brave front.
He looks as though it doesnât bother him, coolly and clumsily preventing his wound from getting lapped by the flames.
MC: Gavin you big fool! What do you mean by âsmall woundâ!! You lied to me!
Gavin: [weakly] This isnât life-threatening...
I donât feel like talking, and only glare at him harshly.
He seems to realise something from the way Iâm staring at him. He lowers his eyes, somewhat at a loss as he places his hand on the back of his neck.
Gavin: [hisses in pain]
MC: Donât touch your wound!
I hurriedly pull on Gavinâs hand, but he unfurls his hand and grips onto mine tightly.
Gavin: Donât be mad. Talk to me.
An unsuppressed fatigue is in his eyes. I end up reluctantly setting aside my pique, and look at him.
MC: What do you want to talk about?
Gavin: Anything is fine.
MC: Then... could you tell me why you suddenly left school?
Gavin freezes for a moment, his brows furrowed slightly. His fringe drifts with the wind. Light falls into his eyes, reflecting several dark and gloomy images.
Gavin: Back then... did you go to the library?
His tone seems to be expectant. Thereâs a tightening in my chest, and I hurriedly turn around.
MC: No! I...
I wanted to make an explanation, but thinking of what happened in the end, my voice grows soft. I lower my head defeatedly.
MC: Iâm sorry. This time... I still didnât receive your letter.
Gavin: This time?
Thereâs some shock in his expression, as though he didnât expect that Iâd say that. But I donât explain further, but continue keeping my head lowered.
MC: They said Minor left a bloodstained letter on my desk and thought it was a threatening letter, so no one dared to go near it.
MC: But by the time I went back to the classroom, the letter was gone.
MC: I searched for such a long time... but couldnât find it...
MC: I thought I accidentally threw it into the dustbin, so I looked through it for a long time. But... I couldnât find that letter anywhere.
My voice grows even softer at the end, and I donât dare to lift my head to look at him.
Even if this world were to be reset, unexpected events still present such regrets.
Like a merciless joke, an antithesis to my unwillingness to be powerless.
Gavin: Thatâs not important anymore. Back then, I had already left before the arranged time. So itâs all right.
MC: But...!
Gavin: MC, lift your head.
I purse my lips, staring at the floor blankly. Gavin doesnât hurry me, but simply waits at the side quietly.
After a long time, I lift my head. Gavin is leaning his head against the wall of wind, and he reveals an evident smile.
Gavin: A few years ago, I suffered from a small injury during training.
MC: Your âsmall injuriesâ arenât small injuries at all.
He laughs softly.
Gavin: Back then, I felt a little tired, just like in class.
MC: ...and then?
Gavin: I donât know why, but I suddenly thought of you.
His gaze, from afar off, slowly drifts to my face.
Gavin: At that time, I was thinking...
Gavin: âWhat are you doing right nowâ?
The large fire scorches incessantly. Once again, he seems to sweep away all the regrets in my heart plainly and simply.
Gavin lifts his hand, rubbing his palm along a lock of my hair.
Gavin: All those things arenât important anymore. The important thing is that weâve met again.

Reborn § Cal Kestis x Reader [4]
Summary: You are a Bounty Hunter, tasked with catching Cal Kestis for your boss, Sorc Tormo. However, plans change, and it's up to you and Cal to fight alongside one another. On a quest to find the sacred Jedi texts, you and the Mantis crew run into troubleâtrouble by the name of the Empire.
Warnings: Mild violence, mild threat, injury
You were trapped. The situation dawned on you as fast as hyper-speed, and you peered out at the arena, and then at Cal, whose eyes locked with yours. Both of you simultaneously worried that this meant you would have to fight each other.
You snapped, and stormed into the middle of the area. Cal raised his lightsaber, but you ignored this and turned away from him. You stared up at the glass box, where Tormo watched. "You promised that I would never have to fight a target," you shouted, raising your voice as much as possible. "That was my one condition."
Tormo chuckled. "Oh, (Y/N), honey. How could you think that I would ever not stay true to my word?" He clasped his hands together and grinned. "Of course you're not fighting each other, you'll be fighting together."
Your heart dropped. All of a sudden, the lights became to bright, the screams too loud, and the air too thick.
"You lied to me, (Y/N), and you know how I feel about liars."
You questioned what he could possibly mean for a second, and then it hit you. Your heart began to race as your breathing quickened. How does he know? you thought, but you didn't have time to ponder on it any longer. The pillars began to move, and you turned to Cal desperately. His eyes showed confusion, but he remained calm. "Ok," he started. "I don't care that you got me into this mess. We have a common enemy, and a common cause-"
"Which is?"
"Staying alive." Cal switched on his weapon. You noticed that he had a few cuts and bruises. "We need to work together."
"I can handle myself, thank you," you replied. Something forced you to be stubborn, but you didn't mean what you said. You knew that you needed his help more than he needed yours.
Luckily for you, Cal was a Jedi, and Jedi were forgiving. "I know, but we don't have time to discuss it." Cal looked around at the creatures advancing towards you. He cringed as he realised what they wereâDathomirian spiders. "Follow my lead."
You huffed as Cal ran towards the spiders and began slashing them down. Turning towards another group of them, you fired your pistol. The panic in your veins caused you to miss what you would usually consider ridiculously easy shots, but after a short while it subsided into an adrenaline rush, and your aim massively improved.
Your team finished the spiders off, only coming away with a few injuries. You were barely given time to cool down before the next opposers arrived: a giant spider from Kashyyk and a Zeffoan Jotaz. Both teenagers recognised these creaturesâ Cal from his travels, and you from having watched these battles before (Tormo seemed to enjoy using these particular species quite frequently).
"(Y/N)," Cal shouted, but kept his eyes trained on the creatures. "Stay near me. You can shoot from afar and I'll do close-range attacks."
You stopped for a minute and tried to search your mind for something, anything to help you two out. You didn't doubt that Cal was a good fighter, but you knew that there must be an easier way. And then you found it, and mentally kicked yourself for not realising sooner. "You hold them off! I have a plan!" Cal looked confused but, having no other choice, he complied.
Cal began thrusting the Jotaz back with force pushes, then slowed the spider and quickly finished it off. After all, he had fought them many times before, and the tactical guide that BD-1 had previously provided him with helped a lot.
Meanwhile, you faced the glass box. You smiled up at Tormo. The man's eyebrows furrowed and he reluctantly smiled back in confusion. You raised your gun, and began to shoot at the glass.
The glass was relatively weak, and smashed after the first few hits. The audience erupted into bewildered chaos. You checked that Cal was okay, then aimed your gun right in the centre of Sorc Tormo's chest. You pulled the trigger, and Tormo collapsed to the floor.
Before you could allow herself to react to what you had done, you rushed to one of the doors and shot at it's control panel. It opened. Cal noticed this, and backed away from the injured Jotaz. The two of you ran through the exit, and you began to guide Cal through the ship.
Your feet pounded against the floor, echoed by footsteps and cries of people behind you. You glanced back and saw that your pursuers consisted of members of the Haxion Brood as well as a few other individual Bounty Hunters. You focused your gaze forward and tried to push the danger of the situation to the back of your mind.
You turned a sharp corner and shuffled through a small gap. Ahead of you was an exit, and you sprinted to the panel beside it. Every button you pressed failed, the door staying shut.
"I think we lost them," Cal remarked, his voice hoarse.
"Not for long." You attempted to pull the door open physically, but you weren't strong enough. "Shut up and come help me." Cal did as you said, standing behind you and digging his fingers into a small space between the door and the wall. You both pulled with all your might, and managed to hitch it open with the combined strength. As soon as it was tugged a little, it's defences gave way, and it slid open almost immediately. A blinding light shone in along with a flurry of sand, temporarily blinding you, and exposing you to the outside world. Hot sand battered you, heralded by the strong wind. Outside, a sandstorm was brewing, and you had no other option but to enter it.
You covered your face with your mask and goggles to limit the sand from invading your mouth and eyes. You caught a glimpse of Cal, who was hurriedly pulling on a poncho and masking his own face with a loose hood. Bracing yourself for the oncoming battle with the elements, you zipped your jacket up fully, then ran out into the storm.
Cal followed behind you. It was even worse with your entire bodies exposed. The wind raised up a whirlwind, pushing the teenagers to and fro. You had to strain every muscle in your bodies to stay in one direction and keep your faces protected.
What's worse, you had no idea where you were going. You were sure that the Bounty Hunters would catch up to you anytime soon. If you were still out in the open at that point, you could easily be surrounded and subsequently trapped.
You stopped and peered around, trying to find the direction of the town, where you'd be able to find cover. But the sand particles were highly concentrated, making it impossible to see. You were disoriented. You didn't know what to do.
Neither of you heard it at first. Amongst the chorus raised by the surrounding gale, it was hard to discern the sound of speeders. But soon enough, red blaster bolts cut through the dense air and smacked the ground at your feet, sending bursts of sand and chunks of rock flying. Cal noticed it first, and hastily grabbed ahold of your hand to drag you along with him.
The further you and Cal ran, the more the air began to clear. Up ahead were two large rocks. "We need to get to them," Cal yelled. He let go of your hand as you found her feet, trusting that you could keep up with him.
You two were fast, but no match for the speeders. One of them reached your side, and you seized her pistol when you spotted this. You glanced back and forth between the destination and your target as you shot. At some point, one of your blasts hit the Bounty Hunter, who swerved the speeder as she fell. It crashed and exploded, sending a gust of sand in your direction.
Eventually, you reached the rocks and hid behind one each. You poked your head out of the side to shoot at the drivers as Cal parried lasers. But you were failing; you were massively outnumbered, and your enemies were proceeding towards you at an alarming rate.
Cal decided to take a chance. He stepped out, between the two rocks. You cried out in shock, but Cal didn't let it faze him. He waited for the speeders to move closer, before he collected all of the force energy he could gather. Then, he held his hands out and pushed. Every single one of the speeders halted and reared up. They tumbled through the air before crashing to ground and burst into flames.
Cal's breathing was heavy. His knees buckled and he fell to the ground. All of the energy had been sucked out of him.
You didn't know what to say. "Damn," was all you could manage. You moved towards Cal, who looked up at you, appearing more exhausted than ever. Cal certainly felt it.
There was another whir of engines from your left. You raised your gun towards it, fearing that it was another Bounty Hunter. "No," Cal whispered, raising his hand dismissively. He picked himself up from the ground and slowly limped towards the ship. "It's my crew."
Skeptically, you lowered your blaster. The yacht ship landed and it's ramp extended towards the pair. A door unlatched, and a tanned woman with short, curly hair stood at the threshold. She smiled, "come on in."

The expression on Astarions face was that of a mix of glee and a shit eating grin. So much so that his cheeks practically made his eyes appear like they were squinting. He liked poking around, pushing buttons or not he could tell with Gales movements that he had done something to make him try and reiterate his actions. Although, this time, the pale elf was kind enough to shift the topic. Keen on making sure that the Wizard wasn't placed in the spotlight of his own embarrassment. What good was it to make such a powerful ally regret talking to him?
"Oh, well, yes. Now that you mention it I am quite interested if there's any other books I've been missing that have these funny little additions. But also I feel behind in some ways. Perhaps a few tricks up my sleeve wouldn't be so bad. It's hard not to admire half the spells you sling across the ways. I only know one spell, which is firebolt. But I feel almost everyone would know that one. As much as I do enjoy watching someone burn alive on the floor after their head is smashed to pieces inwards by the great sword. Who knew slow and painful murder was so satisfying?" The last sentence was states matter-o-factly. As if he were delivering a message that was obvious to his company. He's getting rather into the aspect of murder. Making a motion with his hand as if he were stabbing the air with a blade. He pauses to make eye contact with Gale, smiling feigning for a moment as he realizes how much of a murderous psychopath he sounded like as he exclaimed in glee of his revelation. It wasn't exactly fitting with their conversation regarding his book.
"But no worries. I promise, the magic isn't going to be used on any of my allies. After all, everyone here is so damn useful. It would be a shame for you to expire before well, you know. We become a single being in our skulls once more and not have to worry about our brain fluids seeping from our sockets and whatever orifice it decides to flee from our head."
Astarion was teasing him, that much was obvious. The more the rogue comments on the themes of the book, the more Gale regrets bringing it up â not out of disgust, but out of mere embarrassment on his part, having freely admited what he, as a wizard, was capable of in such a fashion. Granted under normal circumstance he would happily gloat, even about the more intimate applications of the Weave, but he wasn't about to admit the teasing was getting to him. "I sugarcoat nothing, I am simply a passionate man."
He was, however, very glad Astarion's attention turned to learning the Weave, a very tangible sense of relief falling over his shoulders. "You would be correct, I can certainly teach you to harness the Weave in some capacity through incantation and repitition of vocal and somatic components. In regards to the Art of the Night series however, teaching how to utilize that sort of magic would take more than me acting as a catalyst for any possible casting that you might seek to do." Gale happily drones on further, wearing that classic smirk of his, full of pride. "But to put it simply â yes, I can teach you. Just don't expect to be able to summon something from another plane with just a thought after one lesson. If learning the path of the wizard is something you are genuinely interested in, I would be happy to teach you what I know as we continue to travel together. But I will be honest, you don't really take me for the sort to be interested in this field, Astarion. Is it the possibilities of the book what garners your interest?"

Jean: *smashes pause button again* Oooooh, and now he is going to groan and moan and I am going to lose my shit.
Ali: *almost offended, looks at Jean* You know what? Next time you  hurt yourself, I will treat you the same, just like you are treating Greg now.
Jean: *totally offended* OH, REALLY!? *Scrambles to the middle of the room* Yea, okay, so, when weâre, like, 50 years old, I will be like, look, Ali, how I spit out seeds *bends over like Greg and almost falls* ughg, oh no, oh my back, my back snapped, Ali help! *several fake groans* and then you will be like *ends up crouching on the floor on all fours and looks up at Ali* Oh, Jean, remember when we liveblogged Steven Universe 30 years ago?
Ali: AHAHAHAAHHAHAAHAHHAAHA
(And then Jean realized how stupid this all was and ended up sitting on the ground for about 3 minutes and laughing hysterically. I still regret that he didnât let me take a photo of him acting this out- Ali)
(I love how even when Jean is angry with you, heâs leaving it implied that youâll be friends and together even fifty years from now. True friendship. â Gale)

Weâll Meet Again. Part 8. (A Collins Fic)
Ok so I FINALLY got another chapter written. Collins was not co-operating with me at all over the holiday season...stubborn bugger.
Thereâs only a few more chapters to go now, This was never supposed to be as long as it has become and I have to still stick to my end game. Maybe 3 more chapters, 4 at most.
In this chapter a mistake is made, we meet Collinsâ parents and yes, thereâs a ceremony.
FIC MASTERLIST
WEâLL MEET AGAIN PART 8 THOSE WERE THE DAYS
Almost three days passed in a haze of affection, passion and comfort. Once your initial feelings of trepidation had been unfounded your ease around Jack simply grew. He was amazingly attentive, and caring. He hadnât taken you again for a full day after the first time, instead helping you soak in a hot bath to ease any residual pain. Then heâd held you in his arms, fingers stroking your arm as you both talked, baring your souls and all your secrets. By the time the sun had set again and Collins had rolled onto his back, pulling you onto him there wasnât a thing that he didnât know about you. He had even cried with you when you told him how Margot had died and your guilt in sending her to get help, an action which had spared your life. He hadnât tried to tell you that you shouldnât feel guilty, instead he had pulled you closer, cradling your head in the crook of his neck as you bawled. That you both felt such guilt over your actions during that awful day was something that seemed to draw you even closer, no one else could understand as well. You knew without a doubt that Collins would always understand your dark moments, when the memory of Margot would rear its head, just as you knew you would understand his. The death of Hughes and Margot were memories that would never go away and this time with Jack simply helped to prove that it was ok. That everything you felt, good or bad was ok. You both deserved to live, and to grab at happiness for however long you had.On the morning of the fourth day you woke with the sun, watching your love sleep beside you, the light gilding his lashes as they fluttered against his cheeks. Your throat convulsed as you fought back tears, the sight of him sometimes just overwhelming you. He was, simply put, beautiful. That he was, for any amount of time, yours, was something you honestly couldnât even comprehend. Just as you couldnât even begin to quantify the love you felt for him.He was, simply, everything.âAre ye watchin me sleep?â One blue eye opened to catch you staring at him. âThereâs an ocean out tha window, why bother watchin me?âHe chuckled, sliding an arm around your waist and snuggling closer, his hair soft against your skin as he pressed his lips against the bare skin of your shoulders.âI like looking at you.ââAm I abou tae marry a daft woman then?ââQuit it, you silly man.â you laughed, threading your fingers through the silken strands of his hair, loving the way it glinted in the sunlight.âOh, silly am I?â his fingers found your ribs, tickling you while you squirmed and jerked, gales of giggles escaping your lips. Collins grinned as you struggled, using his body to hold you down while his hands tortured you.âOk, ok!â you managed to choke out between laughs. âI give, you win, you arenât silly.âHis response was to take your breath away, his lips smashing against yours as his fingers spread over your sides stroking the skin softly.  Lifting his head he shifted, holding himself up on his elbows, fingers tangling in your hair. âI love ye, Y/N whether yer daft or no.â he rubbed his nose against yours, his hair falling forward over your face.âThatâs good to know, because I rather think you're stuck with me now Jack Collins.â you giggled, wrapping your arms around his neck.He shifted, lowering his body to cover yours, pressing his lips against yours to swallow your gasp as he entered you with one smooth thrust of his hips. You made love in the sunlight, every inch of his skin now as familar to you as your own and so much more precious to you.  There was a spot, right at the back of his neck where hair met skin that when you ran your hand over it made Collins shiver. Another spot on his scalp that made him purr when you scratched your fingers through the strands of his blond hair. He knew just where to touch you to get the response he wanted, had learned the ins and outs of what gave you pleasure and used the knowledge thoroughly. Lacing his fingers with yours he raised your arms above your head, stretching your body under his as you both moved together. Grunts and pants were met with staccato whispers as you told him you loved him with every slide of his body inside you.Later, the sun fully risen in the sky he lifted his head from your shoulder, lips brushing over your check, pushing damp strands of hair off your face. Easing out of you with a grunt he reached down to grab...his eyes snapping up to yours, startled and nervous.âWe forgot summan.ââHmmmmm?â you stretched leisurely as he rolled over beside you. âForgot what?ââCondom.â he all but whispered, his voice tight as a jolt of trepidation shot through you.The conversation surrounding the box of them heâd packed had been only slightly less awkward than the use of them. Heâd explained that they were issued to every serviceman after youâd teased him about being a â'man about townâ. His cheeks had been so red when heâd told you that too many soldiers had gotten the clap during World War One and boxes of condoms were now standard military issue. Honestly you had just been thankful heâd known to have them, unsure as you still were about the future. There was no escaping a talk about that now.âIâm sorry, lass, ahm such an idiot.ââDon't, it wasn't just your fault. Besides we don't know, it may be nothing.ââWhat if it is, summan? How would ye feel about tha?âYou didn't even have to think about it. Rolling onto your side you placed your hand against his cheek, thumb brushing the skin as his head nuzzled into your palm. âI would be happy.ââYe would? Ye mean it?ââI do. I know we've never talked about it but I want children with you. A little boy with your golden hair and blue eyes. Or a little girl who clings to your leg everytime you move.âThe look on his face was one of relief as he let loose the breath he'd been holding. Joy filled his eyes as he crushed you to him.âI wan tha too lass, so much its no even funny. But I had thought tae wait till the war was over. I dinna wan ye saddled with a bairn if summan happens tae me.ââDon't say that.â you choked, tears leaking from behind your lids as you held his as tightly as you could. âDarlin, it's summan we have tae talk about. Ye know wha I do out there, ye know how dangerous it is.ââI know, but I just can't bear to think about anything happening to you. I don't want to imagine what it would be like without you. But if, ifâŚ..â you couldn't even make the words push past the convulsing in your throat. âYour child wouldn't be a burden on me, it would be a blessing. Nothing could ever make me regret having a child with you.ââGod I really am marryin a daft woman.â he laughed, the sound cutting through the dark atmosphere surrounding you.The sun still shone, the radiator kicked out a wave of warmth, wafting over you. He was in your arms now, and that was all that mattered.âWhat time is the train?ââAbout 11.â he murmured, fingers tracing patterns over your shoulder as you snuggled your head against his chest, his heartbeat loud and strong in your ear. âWhy?ââNo reason, itâs just that it's gone 10.âYou chuckled as he jumped swiftly out of bed, pulling the sheet around yourself as he dashed to the wardrobe, naked, fishing out clothing.âIâll never hear the end o it if Iâm no there tae meet them. Me da loves tae tease me that the RAF finally made me able tae keep time.â he was shrugging into his shorts and undershirt, chuckling to himself as you watched, enjoying the opportunity to just drink him in.âAre ye goin tae get dressed, lass or were ye plannin tae meet me parents naked?ââI don't think they'd enjoy that too much.â you laughed. âI'm just enjoying the view for a few minutes.âYou laughed as his cheeks flushed pink, his fingers fumbling with the buttons on his shirt. He was shit at tying his tie so he came and sat beside you, hand stroking your thigh gently as you did it for him, pecking you on the cheek as you walked past him to gather your own clothing. You washed quickly in the bathroom, feeling a twinge of something in your stomach as you cleaned away the evidence of the mistake made. No, not a mistake, you told yourself as you slipped into your dress, an accident maybe but you could never bring yourself to believe that anything that came from your relationship with Jack Collins was a mistake. Whatever happened you would never regret it, even if it did mean bringing a child into the world during a war.Jack slipped behind you, brushing his teeth as you brushed your hair. He smiled at you in the tiny mirror, reaching out to twirl it around his fingers before you swept it up into a knot. Taking advantage of your bare neck he scattered soft kisses all over the exposed skin, his hands splaying across your lower belly.âI love ye.â he whispered, stepping back out into the bedroom to put on his jacket and coat.He helped you into your coat, buttoning it up for you despite your protests that you could handle the buttons. Jack simply laughed, swatting your hands away and pulling your closer by the lapels, kissing the bridge of your nose. You smoothed his hair off his brow, brushing his shoulders. He hadn't shaved in a few days and you knew he was supposed to, even though you liked the roughness and the ginger of os ingrowing beard. You made a note to help him with that later, much much later. The train was, surprisingly, on time and Collins could barely contain his excitement as he rocked back and forth. You were excited to meet the people who were responsible for his existence, but terrified as well. What if they didn't like you? In their defence they knew nothing about you at all, you could be any opportunistic young woman trying to trap a young man. Would Collins then be convinced of the same? That thought hurt. âMa!Da!â Jack was jumping next to you, gaining the attention of the older couple disembarking.Their faces lit up at the sight of their son and they rushed toward you, tears streaming unabashedly down their cheeks. You took a step back as they crashed into him, everyone's arms around each other, his mother sobbing as her hands went to his face, checking him over, her baby. Her child who was a good foot taller than her and swooped her up his his arms, spinning her as she scolded him for looking too skinny. His father looked at you with a smile and shrugged as his wife wiped some imaginary dirt of Jackâs face while he pretended to scowl.âTheyâll be a tha fer a while, missus has tae make sure heâs all in one piece. Iâm his Da, Andrew.âHe held out a hand for you to shake, a good strong grip, rough calluses and all. He held your hand as he perused you, taking your measure and despite your trembling legs you met his gaze unflinchingly. Still, you couldn't hide the puff of breath that escaped when he pulled you in for a hug.âM mighty glad tae meet ye, lassie. Mighty glad indeed. Me lad writes o nothin else.ââHeâs told me a lot about you both, he loves you very much.ââAye well he's a fine lad, brave enough tae volunteer fer the RAF, even though we didnae wan him tae. ââHeâs a hero.ââMebe, but heâs still always goin tae be that wee boy chasin chickens in his Sunday best while his Ma scolded him.âThat was a vision that warmed you and your hand unconsciously went to your stomach, the possibility of a mini Collins tugging at your heart.âMa, leave off an come meet Y/N.â he laughed as she lectured him about his beard.Pulling his mother over to where you stood with Andrew, Jack looked down at you both fondly, a huge smile spreading over his face. You barely noticed his Dad take him aside, wrapping him in a hug.He looked like his mother, right down to the huge blue eyes and strawberry hair. You let her look you up and down, her Mum eyes taking in every detail from your head to your toes. âYer a pretty wee thing. Jacky tells me ye met after tha Dunkirk fiasco.ââI was there when they came off the boats. I drive him back to his base.â you said it quietly, not knowing how much heâd told them. The woman moved so fast you didn't know what had hit you as she enveloped you in a hug so tight you were afraid she might break a bone.âThank ye. Thank ye fer being someone ma baby could turn tae after that. Iâm so happy he's no alone.âIt took you all of a second to hug her back, your arms sliding around her as she rocked you in her arms, crying as you now were. When she pulled away finally you felt emotion swell in your chest. Andrew and Jack looked on, tears streaming down the older man's cheeks, the younger fighting back his own. âMe name is Helen, but ye can call me ma.ââMa.â you tried it on your tongue. It felt right. Looking around you knew with certainty that these were your people, this was your family now and you were theirs. Your family had been gone for 10 years and you'd been alone since you were 16. This was the first time since you were a child that you had felt the warmth of a parentâs love.Jack Collins had brought you home.âSo em, wasnae there a special event ye asked us tae come down fer?âJack looked at his father, a blush spreading over his cheeks.âYeah, we should go do tha after some lunch, I know Y/N wans tae wear summan nice.âHis parents were to be installed in a room downstairs and Jack started to climb the stairs to your room before his Ma stopped him.âYe can wait wi yer Da, we ladies will get ourselves ready.âAny protest he might have made was stopped dead by the stern look on Helenâs face.âYes maâam.â he mumbled, looking at you longingly. This was the longest you had gone without touching in days and it was killing you too, but you desperately wanted to get to know Helen better. She followed you up the stairs chuckling as you reached the door to your room.âTha boy, lookin at ye like he cannae breathe without ye, heâs his fatherâs son.â she noticed your hesitation. âRelax dearie, Iâll no be judgin ye fer sharin a room. I did the same wi his Da during the last War. Thereâs no shame in love.âFor an hour you talked, Helen had you take a bath, helped you wash your hair and pulled a lovely blue and white silk frock from her bag.âI didnae know if ye had anythin, I never had a weddin dress but I wore this a few years ago fer our anniversary. I think it will fit.ââIts lovely.â you murmured, letting her slide it on, swiftly closing the delicate buttons up the back. Your hands smoothed the silk against your skin, the dress almost a perfect fit, leaving bare your collarbone. The skirt slithered smoothly to your knees, flaring up when you spun. It was simple and lovely and you had never worn anything so fine.Helen deftly piled your hair, braiding it onto your head, and pinning it.âI always wanted a daughter, but we only ever had Jack. He was our miracle baby. But now we have ye, so it's alright.ââYou don't know anything about me though.ââI know ma son loves ye, Jack has always been a good judge o character. Thaâs enough fer me.âYou turned, hugging her around the waist, understanding now how Collins had come to be such a good man with parents like these. They had welcomed you without hesitation or judgement, loved you simply because their son did. No matter what happened you would make sure you never let them down.Poor Jack looked like he was chomping at the bit by the time you made it downstairs, you saw him pacing back and forth, his brow furrowed with worry. At your appearance he stopped, gazing up at you with the widest smile youâd ever seen.âI was afraid ye were runnin away ye were gone so long.ââRight, your mum and I were going to abandon you, silly man.â you scoffed softly.âGood thing yer daft then so we're a great pair.â he pulled you close, leaning down to kiss you gently, ignoring the chuckles of his parents. âShall we go do this?âThe registrar's office was a tiny stone building on the town square, sandwiched between a pub and a butcher. The license had been obtained by Jack before you left London and all youâd had to do was sign it in surprise before you went in front of the officiant. The ceremony itself was simple and short. You didn't mind, there was no real need for anything more, you both knew how you felt, that you saw your future together and that was all you needed. You did cry when Helen handed Collins a box containing two rings.âThey belonged tae me grandparents.â he explained, sliding a delicate sapphire onto your finger. His grandfather's ring was slid down the length of his finger, sitting beneath your fingers as you twisted it during the rest of the ceremony. He was yours, you were his, for as long as you lived. Your kiss was hurried as you were ushered out to admit a new visitor and you exited the building in a daze. You were married. The gorgeous, tall man in the spotless blue uniform beside you was your husband. Your heart swelled and for a moment you couldn't breathe over the rush of happiness. Helen and Andrew stepped ahead, eyes on the pub for a celebration. Looking up at Jack you grinned before burrowing yourself under his arm to wrap your arms around his waist as you walked.âHow do ye feel, Mrs. Collins?ââLike I could fly.âYou yelped as he swung you suddenly, hoisting you up in his arms, mouth covering yours. Hot, desperate and hungry his tongue slid over yours, a promise of the night to come. In an instant your body was on fire and you barely resisted the impulse to wrap your legs around his waist and beg him to take you back to the room.A cough brought you back to reality, you slid down to earth and turned to see Collinsâ parents grinning at you, Andrew's face as red as his sonâs.âDrink first, then ye can get on tae tha business.â he chuckled.âI've seen em, in the kitchen. Me Da still kisses her like it's the first time.ââOne day that will be us. You better be kissing me in our kitchen years from now.ââAye when Iâm goin bald and me face is all lined and wrinkled. Yeâll no wan tae have me all over ye.ââEspecially then, Jack Collins. Every day for the rest of our lives.ââI think I can handle tha.â he laughed, taking your hand as you walked into the pub.The shiver that ran down your spine was caused by the cold breeze, you were certain. Snuggling into your new husband for warmth you allowed yourself to simply enjoy him, love him and for the rest of the night you forgot the fact that there was still a war going on.Reality would come soon enough.

Kirby: Battle Royale - Datamine Findings [Spoilers]
Iâm sorry that this is coming out so late! Once I finished collecting things I really had to take a rest, I stayed up all night for this so I was fairly tired by the end of it all. Either way, due to the length of this post and itâs spoiler content, click the âRead Moreâ to continue.
To start off, the following abilities are in the final version of the game:
Sword Cutter Beetle Bomb Spear Fighter Ninja Whip Parasol Hammer Doctor Tornado Ice
King Dedede, Meta Knight and Bandana Waddle Dee are all present in the game as playable characters. It is unknown how they are unlocked normally, but it likely has to do with story mode. Their unlock messages are as follows:
"Meta Knight is now in the Collection Lists! You can use this in Battle Mode and Online Battles after it's unlocked."Â Â Â
"Waddle Dee is now in the Collection Lists! You can use this in Battle Mode and Online Battles after it's unlocked."Â Â Â
"King Dedede is now in the Collection Lists! You can use this in Battle Mode and Online Battles after it's unlocked."
These are all the playable character icons. As it has been pointed out, in the demo, there are 17 ability slots; the last one is the Random select, similar to Smash Bros. and other games. The poll ability isnât present whatsoever in the retail game, so itâll likely be added in as a free DLC update.
As previously revealed on the Kirby Twitter account, the game has alternate costumes. Aside from special circumstances, all abilities have their default gear along with three alternates. They are listed as such: Sword: Gigant Helmet Newspaper Hat Dyna Helmet Ultra Sword Hat* Cutter: Sir Kibble Helmet Mohawk Knight Helmet Beetle: Hornhead Helmet Woodpecker Helmet Hydra Helmet  Bomb: Foley Cap Bomb Cap Boom Cap Qbby Cap* Spear: Javelin Knight Helm Devil Horns Sectonia Mask
Fighter: Knuckle Joe Hair Wrestling Mask Goriath Hat Ninja: Bio Spark Helmet Topknot Samurai Helmet Whip: Whippy Hat Gymnastics Leotard Daroach Hat Parasol: Bouncy Umbrella Paper Parasol Fancy UmbrellaÂ
Hammer: Dedede Hammer Toy Hammer Grand Hammer ReplicaÂ
Doctor: Chemitory Hat Nurse Cap Sacred HatÂ
Tornado: Twister Helmet Pinwheel Kracko HatÂ
Ice: Mr. Frosty Freeze Hood Snow Bowl
 ---
Bandana Waddle Dee: Sailor Hat Straw Hat Animal Hat CafĂŠ Cap*
Meta Knight: Dark Meta Knight Mask Party Mask Mecha Knight Mask Galacta Knight Mask*
King Dedede: Knit Cap Gentleman's Hat King's Crown Masked Dedede Mask*
Ultra Sword Hat, Qbby Cap, CafĂŠ Cap, Galacta Knight Mask and Masked Dedede Mask are all amiibo-locked, so youâll need the Kirby Series amiibo and the Qbby amiibo to unlock everything.
Here are all of the ability moves. If the move is listed as an aerial move, it can only be used during a jump. If itâs listed as a charged move, you need to hold a charge before it can be used.
Beetle - Horn Upper, Horn Flurry, Back Slash, Spiral Horn (aerial), Rocket Horn (charged), Dive (after Rocket Horn), Forward Lunge, Slamming Drill (after Forward Lunge)

Whip - Whip Strike, 100-Whip Slap, Whip Tornado (aerial), Crash Typhoon (charged), Whip Grab
To finish the ability section, thereâs an oddity. Axe Knight is a character in the game, but itâs unknown if heâs playable. His data is all labeled as a normal, functioning player character, similar to Kirbyâs abilities and the other confirmed unlockables. However, heâs also missing several things. He has no player select icon, lacks some coding for certain modes and has no unlockable text. Several things point to him being a character created solely for the Story Mode (possibly Meta Knightâs partner in the tourney), but there is a chance that heâs just not totally finished. Either way, his moveset is based around Cutter Kirby.
There are ten different game modes in the game overall. To list them out...
Apple Scramble - âAttack Mini Whispy Woods when it has apples to make them fall. After you pick up apples, throw them into your collection area, which is blue. After pulling the lever, you'll score for apples that go down the chute. High score wins!â Maps - Starter Forest, Double-Cross Forest, Bramble Forest, Fenced Forest, Double-Cross Forest (again?)
Slam Hockey - âTry to hit rivals with the puck as many times as you can. High score wins! You can send the puck toward rivals in two ways: give it a smack or throw it! If a rival throws a puck at you, catch it by pressing R at just the right time.â Maps - Normal Arena, Obstacle Arena, Stretch Arena
Battle Arena - âThe last one standing when all rivals are KO'd wins! To knock out rivals, attack them until their health hits zero. Press A repeatedly to wake up if KO'd. The more you faint, the longer it takes to recover.â Maps - Deluxe Coliseum, Battle Coliseum
Robo Bonkers - âAttack Robo Bonkers and do more damage than anyone else to win! Throw missiles into cannons to launch them. It's a great way to damage Robo Bonkers! When Robo Bonkers falls, go for multiple attacks. Try for greater amounts of damage per hit.â Maps - Robo Bonkers, Robo Bonkers DX, Robo Bonkers SDX
Coin Clash - âPick up coins while attacking your rivals for theirs. The one with the most coins wins! You can take even more coins from rivals by doing greater amounts of damage to them. You'll drop coins until you get the ghost off your back. Use B to dash and Y to jump.â Maps - Central Room, Dual Room, Trap Room, Party Room
Flagball - âYou'll score when the ball connects with your blue flag. First team to seven points wins! If a flag falls to a lower level, you can grab it and run it around the field! A double flag will appear later in the game. It's worth double points. Great for a comeback!â Maps - Beginner's Beach, Flagger Beach, Footfall Beach, Lopsided Beach
Ore Express - âToss as much ore as you can into train cars. Get more points than your rivals to win! Throw ore into a gold train car if you see one. You'll get double points for that ore!â Maps - Wayward Plains, Twisty Tunnels, Logjam Pass
Crazy Theater - âYou'll enter a series of quick challenges. Hit the max number of wins before your rivals! In a question challenge, knock rivals off the correct answer!â Maps - Dream Theater
Attack Riders - âAttack your rivals to take away their chips. Whoever holds the most chips at the end wins! The more chips a competitor has, the easier they are to take. Greater damage gets more too. When the vehicle's gauge is full, press Y to attack. Avoid taking damage or you'll fall out!â Maps - Attack Biker, Attack Tanker Rocket Rumble - âGrab as much fuel as you can and throw it into your rocket. The one with the most fuel wins! Attack your rivals' rockets to knock loose blocks of their fuel. Then steal it for your own! Get into your rocket before the 10-second countdown is over. Just jump in, or you won't score!â Maps - Space Center
The final boss in the game is named Dededestroyer Z. He shares some code with the Robo Bonkers battles, so it likely takes place in a similar scenario (circle arena, robot fight, etc.). In this fight, Dededestroyer Z seems to take control of the Kirby Printer and creates mass hordes of enemies for you to fight. The objective of this final fight is "Defeat all rivals before they beat you!". While this all goes on, Dededestroyer Z will also attack you using lasers, fist slamming attacks and more. Bandana Waddle Dee joins in this fight to help you, too; he seems to give you something called the Golden Missile, likely to deal the final blow.
The following NPCs are present in the game:
Groggy Waddle Dee Buddy Waddle Dee Dedede Meta Knight Axe Knight Bat Meta Knight Kirby Printer Waddle Dee A/B/C/D/E/F/P Soldier Waddle Dee L/R/A/B/C/D Spear Waddle Dee A/B Reporter Waddle Dee Camera Waddle Dee AD Waddle Dee TV Waddle Dee Mic Waddle Dee Fake Kirby A/B/C/D/E Waddle Doo A/B/C Guide Board A/B/C Knuckle Joe Elevator Crank HandleÂ
The entirety of the Kirby Twitter news cast is here! Aside from the NPCs, there are characters called Waddle Dee Buddy, Waddle Dee Spear and Sandbag in the game. Compared to Axe Knight, itâs highly unlikely that these characters are anything more than story mode and/or tutorial characters. Sandbag is used in the online waiting room, too.
While we already have a fair bit of the OST in the gameâs demo, thereâs a lot of files that still arenât present. This includes two Staff Credits themes, two Meta Knight themes, two Dedede themes, various boss themes, some more minigame themes and a couple things relating to the end of the game. Iâll be uploading the demoâs OST after this post goes live, too, so stay tuned for that!
To finish this off, Iâd like to thank the elusive Popcorn for helping me, once again. He managed to snag the demo and send it over, so none of this would be possible without him!

SSB5 Fighter Concept: Wild Link
We saw Link in the reveal trailer in his BOTW design, but I feel like BOTW link can be its own character separate from traditional Link.
BASIC MOVES
This is the main difference separating Wild Link from Regular/Toon. It plays on the idea from BOTW of Linking having items with durability that eventually break. Instead of just the Master Sword and Hylia shield, heâll go through this rotation:
1-Handed Weapon/Shield (you start with this) > 2-Handed Lance/Spear > 2-Handed Weapon > 1-Handed Weapon/Shield > etc....
This would follow the pattern to avoid any RNG with Wild Link. What Wild Link uses as weapons (and shield) is completely random, but is purely cosmetic. All weapons will have the same damage output, hitbox size, and durability.
Above Wild Linkâs health is a durability meter. Hitting an opponent or item with your weapon deceases the meter, and once empty, your item is destroyed and you pull out the next weapon in the rotation.Â
Hereâs how each type of weapon works:
1-Handed Weapon/Shield: This is basic weapon uses like the other Links have. It is the well-rounded for damage and smashing. You start with this.Â
2-Handed Spear: This weapon sacrifices a little bit of damage and a lot of smashing power to have incredible speed and reach. This mode can be used to play keep-away with the opponent and to chip off damage.
2-Handed Weapon: This lacks the speed like the other weapons have but makes up for it in strong attacks and incredible smashing power.Â
SPECIAL MOVES
B: Bow - We know what this one is
B + Down: Remote Bomb - This is weaker than the other Linksâ bomb, but makes up for it in being able to set off the explosion at any time. A simple press makes the bomb round while a slight hold of the button will make it square. Press again to detonate.
B + Side: Weapon Throw - Like in BOTW, Link can throw his own weapon at the opponent. This can only be done once your current weapon is at 50% durability or less (to avoid annoying spamming). The type of weapon thrown also determine how the projectile acts (1-Handed is the middle build out of all of these, Spears are crazy fast and could possibly break barriers, 2-Handed are slow but hits incredibly hard). This is also a way to switch weapons if you need to change strategies.
B + Up: Revaliâs Gale - Wild Linkâs recovery move deals no damage like Linkâs Spin Attack, but makes up for increased vertical recovery along with a short period of gliding to help get back onto the stage.
Final Smash: Divine Beasts Attack! Links calls upon the ghost of his fallen alies along with the Divine Beasts to aid him in battle! This calls down 4 randomly placed vertical beams that deal heavy damage to anyone that gets hit by them.
Obviously Iâm no game maker, and this is just simple idea storming. Any ways to help improve on this concept?
