craving some validation today, so here, have a little preview of what I'm working on this week:

“Harrington, hey! Harrington, Mark Donahue from CBC Sports. Great to see you out here tonight, first game as a rookie, right?” Steve grimaced a little and shifted his helmet to his other hand as the mic was shoved in his face. The team was stalled at the entrance to the rink, likely waiting as the Bruins were introduced and did their skate out. Still, he didn’t really need this right now. “Hey, yeah man. Thanks, look, I’m just trying to-” “We’ll be quick, Harrington, don’t worry about it. How are you feeling tonight? Your dad’s in the audience, eh? Is he excited to see his son play his first ever NHL game?” Steve grimaced slightly at the thought but forced his face into something close to a smile. “Sure, yeah, yep. Really, uh. Really excited for us to win tonight.” The interviewer–Donahue–laughed. It didn’t sound friendly. “Ah, got it! So you gotta get a win for the old man, eh? Of course. And, is there anyone on the Bruins tonight that has you worried? Maybe someone like Eddie Munson?” Steve couldn’t stop the frown that tugged his eyebrows down. He’d sat through all the media training, yeah. Smile and nod, just here to support my team, the regular nonsense. But really? His first night on the big ice and they were asking him about Munson?

Okay okay more Eclipse thoughts because they live in my head rent free!

So Ayan is a bad liar - not bad as in 'bad at lying' (that honor goes to Akk) but more that he never outright lies. Half truths, yes, or lies by omission - but I can't think of any moment in where Aye outright lies, especially to Akk.

On the other hand, Akk... lies a fair amount. Even something like going through Aye's bag and then pretending otherwise - it shows the contrast between their characters and environments and I love it so so much.

Aye hasn't ever really had to lie - the consequences of his actions has never been huge + his family is supportive enough that he's able to freely admit his own thoughts and opinions. Plus, his personality also adds to that. Conversely, Akk has to lie all the time - the consequences of being honest at the wrong time are at a different level entirely. (For example, Akk's scholarship being put at risk after their fight, vs Aye... getting a disappointed look?) For Akk, being honest the way Aye is is a price he can't pay.

Plus, there's another factor here in which Ayan is honest, yes - but he's secretive. He doesn't tell anyone about Uncle Dika, he keeps his cards close to his chest. And Akk is dishonest, but he wears everything on his sleeve - his thoughts are clear as day on his face all the time. (Plus, I don't think he necessarily goes out of his way to hide his involvement with the curse, either?) They're just so silly I love them (torments them endlessly) <3

Also there's a really fascinating thing in how Akk and Ayan interact with each other and how, by the end of the show, they're both so honest and open with each other but I don't have the time to write out the whole thing sjfoskfkf

there is something to Jason's obsessive organization...the everything being just-so, that speaks to control issues so deeply rooted in immense anxiety...so very suited to a guy who has experienced death, who tried to take a situation by the horns as a kid and ended up tied up & betrayed & dead. he can't rely on others the same way ever again. he can't rely on that childish sense of immortality ever again & we see him actively throw himself into situations he intends to be fatal over and over again. (He's not even allowed to choose how he dies.)

he can't live and he can't die and he can't control shit when it comes down to it. but look at that sick knife display cabinet 👍
